Pivvot

Beautiful game in the style of Super Hexagon, but much more casual. The difficulty doesn't go quite as high, but the music here is incredible and I find myself coming back to the game more often just because of how good the flow state is with the background beats. My only wish would be for more play modes - is a Zen mode where you could play forever without contending with speedups and a Voyage+Expert combined mode would be amazing. It's a shame you can't get the game anymore. :(

Boring. Once you know every pattern and what to do on which it get's really tedious.
The music is cool, but 50% of the time the game fades the music and gets you out of the pumping beat :-(
This is an experimental flash game which should be on Kongregate.

Allthough I liked the game a lot, it is not playable in multiplayer mode. PS4 controllers show up as an unkown device and PS4 controller. If you connect 2 controllers 4 are recognized. This will make the game not playable in multiplayer mode.

Positives:
- gameplay, as with many games of a similar genre, is easy to understand, but hard to master as some patterns can be confusing to maneuver around at first glance.
- completing a lot of the achievements requires absolute mastery of the game's control, and gives intense satisfaction when you finally finish a hard achievement (perfect voyages, berserk 100seconds, etc.)
- from my limited exposure to multiplayer with a few IRL friends, it's decently fun to do multiplayer, but lacks replayability.
- music is quite nice, although pretty limited (only 5 tracks as far as i know)

Negatives:
- the last two obstacles in expert. the first one isn't too bad, as you are given just enough time to see how the deadly orbs will move. the second one, though... at high speeds, it's pretty much praying the side you choose will allow you to pass through. this last pattern is the reason why perfect expert voyage took so long.
- the default sensitivity doesn't really fit right. everyone else i've talked to about this game has been dissatisfied. either they prefer a lower sensitivity (to allow for greater precision), or they like a faster sensitivity (me) to make quick changes in position easier.

Overall: Would recomend to those who enjoy punishing satisfying twitch games.

PROS:
+ 8 game modes
+ cool aesthetic
+ challenging gameplay
+ nice soundtrack
+ local co-op up to 4 players

CONS:
- overall jagged movement
- analog stick controls are really bad
- no online co-op
- music gets tedious after a while (only 5 songs, 1 for each mode)

Comment:
The aesthetic is really nice. Some would say it is too simple but I like it. Each obstacle is unique visually which adds to the experience. The music is great but with a game where you repeat the level over and over it got annoying after a while. In fact my own performance in levels increased when I turned it off and just played random music or a podcast. There is gamepad support but apparently not for all gamepads. However this matters little when you realize that analog sticks are worse for moving around than arrow keys or D-pad. This means you really do not get extra precision with a gamepad so you do not miss out when using just a keyboard/mouse. Originally I planned a positive review because I had fun. But my opinion got increasingly negative the more I played. I don't mind the difficulty but the seemingly unfairness of the controls. The movement isn't smooth. This makes it very frustrating when you react in time and correctly for an obstacle but you are at a bad angle and the movement simply does not let you get into the right position. The casual/standard modes don't really have this problem but later on when you NEED precision it is hard to achieve. Even when adjusting the input sensitivity it still did not help. If you turn it down it is better for precision but you fail at faster turns/obstacles. Raising it helps with fast movement but kills your precision. So you are probably stuck with the (default) middle ground anyway. This could be a cool difficult game but the lack of tweaking hurts it a lot. It is actually a port from mobile so it explains some things but doesn't excuse it. If you just go for Voyage, Looper and some of the endless modes you can overlook the flaws and I recommend it for you. But if you plan to finish all the modes, like me, be prepared for a lot of frustration. As such I end up giving the game a slight thumbs down just because good controls are vital in a game like this.

*Note: The local-only co-op can be circumvented by using Steam Remote Play Together.

an easy to learn but hard to master gameplay loop with only two mouse buttons to avoid obstacles and sometimes frustrating when you die over and over in the same place but that rewarding feeling when you finally master it is just priceless and totall< worth it. it's hard but fair and it's always 100% your fault when you die. additionally the great soundtrack also keeps you hooked. highly addictive!

A nice little time killer with super simple gameplay, very similar to Super Hexagon. Basically, It's Super Hexagon on a rail.

Each game could last between 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

Despite the super simple gameplay the difficulty can range from challenging to rage-inducing.

If you're up to the challenge though or want something to keep you busy atleast, give it a shot!

Vib Ribbon was an interesting game. You controlled a wire rabbit and walked through a course which was generated based on the music that was playing. Pivvot is a game in a similar mould, though there are more varieties of obstacles and a character that is considerably less designed than Vib Ribbon’s protagonist – in this game, you are little more than a couple of dots with a line connecting you.

This is part of what makes Pivvot so enjoyable. It’s so simple, there are no stunning, high-def graphics to distract you from the game, nor is there a story to get bogged down with. You literally just have to guide a little balloon down a line without hitting any of the obstacles, while listening to some pretty fantastic music. The tendency of developers to make games all singing and dancing of late is not always a positive, as it can stretch the game a little too thin. Fixpoint Productions stayed away from that idea, took a very basic game and made it worth playing.

If you are looking for a good pass-time game, then you already found one. Pivvot is one of my main pass-time games lately because it is just so simple and the music are so relaxing. Bonus it only cost so little amount in your wallet so I already recommend this game because it is just freakin' good for a pass time game category.

A fun and challenging fast paced indie game. Basically your ball runs along a rail and you either use left or right clicks to rotate your ball in order to dodge incoming obstacles. You only get a small window of opportunity to look at the obstacle ahead and decide which way you need to rotate which is very fun and keeps you on the edge of your seat, not to mention as you get further into a level the obstacles always change so you can never get used to dodging just one type of obstacle. The game has a decent amount of levels and an absolutely amazing soundtrack. If you're into games like oO, super hexagon and the impossible game then you're going to love this. Great game to pick up and add to your indie collection.

Absolute genius. Genial idea. Perfect implementation. Every bit. Idea. Sound. Design. Beautiful simplicity. I never thought after so many years of existence of computer games it is still possible to do something this fresh.

Fun game, similar in style to Super Haxagon, although the gameplay is a bit different. If you enjoy games like Super hexagon, I'd recommend this to you.

Awesome game ! Since I have it, everytime a friend is at my crib i'll let him test it, see who's got the high score at first try. After you passed first level there is still a lot to play in other modi, so quite good lifespan for a tiny game ! At that price it's a steal !

Having written a guide and more recently perfected the game, it's only fitting that I write a review as well.

So, Pivvot is a ridiculously difficult rotation based game that focuses on improvement in 4 main gamemodes - Voyage, Expert Voyage, Looper, and Berserk - rather than a larger spectrum of areas. Voyage is where you're supposed to start (It's possible to start on Looper, however), and go from there. The first time I played, I had no idea what I was doing until I had died 3 times on the first obstacle, so there could use to be an in-game guide, though steam guides can typically cover a fair bit of what is needed.

So, without further ado, I guess I'll list the Pros and Cons of the game, along with a verdict...
PROS:
- Simple, yet (kinda) unique gameplay.
- Easy to grasp, difficult to master.
- More dependant on thinking how to get around an obstacle than fast reactions.
- Decent Replayability
- Low Price
- Decent Soundtrack (The Berserk theme is pretty epic)
- 4 Different gamemodes for people who enjoy different styles.

CONS:
- Berserk mode is just constantly moving back and forth - little strategy involved.
- No in-game tutorial available.
- Can be extremely frusturating at times (Anyone who watches youtube videos would consider this a pro, though)
- Looper mode is boring.

All in all, I've enjoyed the time that I have played this game, and will probably continue to play it from time to time. But now that I have all of the achievements, and have had the game proclaim me as a "Pivvot God" (Yes, it did that, survive 2 minutes in Berserk mode), I will definitely not be playing it daily like I used to.

Deceptively simple game, but it excels at killing you. Good for some time killing for a bit. I wish that there was a neutral rating on here, as I would give it that. Nothing that stands out, just a fun simple game. Buy it if it's on sale, but not at full price is my advice.

Felt like bit trip runner, but without the inherent feeling of fairness of that title. Leading with the ball leaves insufficient time to react. Trailing with the ball is dissatisfying. Controls felt very digital, even on the x360 controller's analogue pad. Most of my deaths came from overshooting the target via the touchy controls. It would be nice to see analogue mouse movement as an imput mechanism. Didn't care for it, despite playing many twitch titles over the years.

Also, the lead paragraph for the game is misleading. Strategy is thinking long-term, there is none of that in this title. I think they meant to say tactics...

This is a great little game with a very simple premise, you rotate a little circle to avoid obstacles. It all sounds nice and straightforward and indeed the first voyage breaks you in gently with simple obstacles to build up your confidence.

DO NOT BE DECEIVED.

By the time you reach the expert voyage you will have worked out 3 things.

1) Digital input requires very precise timing.
2) The developers hate you (I can only assume a traumatic incident in a geometry class).
3) You definitely aren't coming back to beat that high score...at least not for the next half hour.

The game is a lot of fun when you hit the zone but be prepared for frustration along the way.

Pivvot includes awesome music with fast-sadistic gameplay.
Like in Super Hexagon etc. the point of the game is to avoid some obstacles. Sounds easy? The thing is that those obstacles get harder and the game faster and faster. Some of those are really frustrating, when you're quite bad at this xD
Tip for later: Change your sensitivity to get better at faster gamemodes.
Another good thing is that there are 8 different gamemodes and a co-op mode, so when your friends like to play non-sense, fast, dodge, reaction, colourful, music games, grab them some copies and start to play :P

I don't regret that I bought this game.

This is a minimalist game, that being said, I LOVE IT!
I'm a big fan of "The Impossible Game" and "Super Hexagon".
Now here's the biggest pro it has...
PAUSE! You can pause it, unlike Super Hexagon, and unlike The Impossible Game when you pause it. When you resume it gives you a 3 second countdown to get ready.
Another pro is multiplayer, it's not online, but it's still fun to play with friends.
Great music and gameplay!
Another cool feature is that your able to adjust the sensitivity of your circle thing.
I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a quick play or mindless fun. :)

✓ You need only left + right buttons
✓ Multiple procedurally generated levels
✓ Different stages in a level
✓ Nice bright colors
✓ Awesome soundtrack

Sounds familiar, huh? Now even better:

✓ Multiple endless modes
✓ LOCAL CO-OP for every mode

TL;DR Super Hexagon with local co-op and more awesome stuff.
