Amazing <3 _ <3
It's short, sweet, and fun! Pew pew pew!
One of the best indie games ever made. You can finish it in a few hours and I think thats great, no crazy time commitments, just a really really good run and gun side-scroller. Soundtrack is immaculate, Pixel never misses.
Worth even at full price.
Very underrated, if you like Cave Story and or run 'n' gun video games this one is just for you! The difficulty is just right too!
The game is just filled with unavoidable damage like a die and retry except you have lives and when you loose them all you restart all the way back to the beggining. The character is slow and unresponsive. It's just not fun
OH MY GOSH IT FINALLY WORKS ON MACOS:
I literally beat normal mode in an hour out of pure hype. This is the best mobile game I have ever played, and it was ported well onto Switch and MacOS. I know my account shows that I played it on steam for an hour as of right now but realistically on all platforms, I've put about 20-30 hours into this game.
ADDRESSING STUPID NEGATIVE REVIEW:
Sabertooth9278: "Very disappointed in this game. You can’t run and shoot at the same time. Still tried to play on and quit after failing to reach a platform multiple times. You can’t do a simple arced jump. You need to have a running start which isn’t always possible which makes it bad level design and then bad gameplay." I'm disappointed myself that this player decided to turn off comments so I'm going to talk about it in this review. I legitimately have no idea what this player was smoking when they created the review because you can indeed, run and shoot at the same time. In fact this game has one of my most favorite designs for running and shooting. Keep in mind, this was originally designed for iOS. In the iOS version players had a slider to control whether they shot up, left, or right. What is cool about this is that you can let go of the slider and it would continue shooting while you controlled your movement. In console and PC versions of the game, which ever direction you point and start shooting is the direction your character continuously shoots in. Meaning if I pointed my gun upwards and held the shooting button, I can let go of looking upwards and I will still shoot upwards and can then focus on movement and jumping. The second point is that you "can't do a simple arced jump". Ok so for this point, this is more of the flow of movement. You need to slightly move to do a full arced jump, and you can hold jump to do a long arc or press jump for a short arc. This person concludes that you apparently can't always do a running start which means it's bad game design and a bad game. Again, I have no idea what this user was smoking because the jump flows really well, man the flow of the jump is really impactful when you get the jetpack. The jetpack can either allow you to jump really far when you move left or right OR if you stop holding left or right mid air and do a double jump, you go higher. All this to say, don't read that person's review to determine whether you get this game or not. It's spectacular and worth playing, especially since after normal mode, you get a hard mode with brand new levels and final boss levels and whatnot.
Damn good run and gun game
pick it up
Kero Goodness
Played it in high school and really liked it. Played it again today and was very pleased that it held up to my rose tinted expectations. I would say that it is very satisfying in it's delivery and the chip tunes are also really good.
didn't expect much, was a pleasant surprise. it's cute and fun with just the right amount of difficulty, couldn't be bothered to beat zangyou mode, but the game holds up very well regardless.
it's fine i guess
Daisuke Amaya is a generational talent
Good hopping. Good shootin. Good froggin.
What more can you ask for?
This game is exactly what an old-school-like platformer should be: simple controls, great pixel art, a good story, multiple stages and bosses, and increasing fun. Love it.
A charming and difficult run-and-gun that's very self-contained and doesn't waste your time. Beating the game unlocks a hard mode with more story content, and beating hard mode unlocks an even harder mode with even more story content (I did not get quite that far).
If you're familiar with UFO 50, this game is just as aesthetically pleasing, just as tricky, and dare I say more fair than most of the games in that package. And Studio Pixel beat them to it by ten years! Would recommend for anyone who needs more tough retro-style games in their life
Initially I was dismissive of this game as another generic platformer, but the game grew on me to the point that I consider it is now among my favorites!
The game is simple in its visuals and basic gameplay, but the well designed and challenging levels alone makes it better than many games in the same genre. Also, the interesting weapons upgrades and excellent boss fights are the cherries on the top.
Very entertaining and cute shooter/platformer. Was nice to see a new title after Cave Story!
Fun little shoot-em up that sometimes can be difficult, but in fair ways. Pixels and the story have its own charm and there's a few things to unlock to keep you playing more than just one run.
cute frog with guns
dam!! this frog proficient!!
Pure, unfiltered kino. Pixel is an indie game savant and a demigod.
I adore this game. The story, the gameplay, the music, it's all quirky and brilliant. Exactly what I'd expect and look for in a Studio Pixel game. If you like Cave Story, buy this game. If you didn't like Cave Story, I'm not exactly sure how that's possible, and buy this game regardless.
Any games with hitless achievements is a hard no from me
For $11.00, this a short yet fun simple run n'gun platformer. Some achievements are annoying, but nothing hair pulling. Buy this game if you want just a simple fun game that is easy to 100%.
cant recommend enough
Nice, always keep coming back. Decent graphics, music and gameplay.
+ idk
- terrible movement
- terrible level design
- terrible boss fights
- $10 regular price lol
kero blasting all over hr place
Such a lovely game. Music and visuals are superb. Every weapon has a use. Game design is clear and challenging, hard mode being actually hard. Game is relatively short. You can breeze through the first play-through in several hours. Wish there were more games like this. The server battle is insane though,
Retro to a fault at times, and doesn't really shake up the genre. Thankfully, it's streamlined enough to the point where the normal mode is not as hard or as punishing as some of the negative reviews make it seem.
Thoughtful gameplay is definitely rewarded, and the weapon variety is nice.
The hard mode is essentially the second half of the game, so the length is longer than it looks, too. But I didn't feel like spending much time with that one, especially after the difficulty spike near the end of the normal mode. (Don't worry; it wasn't anywhere near as crazy as the perfect ending in Cave Story.)
I think Kero Blaster is a worth a shot for fans of NES-style platformers and run-n-gunners. In that case, the worst thing that could happen is that you refund it after about half of the normal mode. If you hate NES-era difficulty or limited retries, though, put the game out of your mind forever.
just as good as cave story; both S tier games
It's short but very sweet.
