May not be the most graphical overly complicated game but scratches all the right places for me.
This game was & is extremely fun. It's good to play this game again after 5 years. Would recommend it.
This is a great game once you get past the weird controls and combat. They aren't bad; they just aren't anything like what you would expect from a game where you pilot a space ship. For example, you can only move and attack on a horizontal plane (huh?). Most other things move on the same plane, but a few things--like missiles and fighters--can move above and below you temporarily. If you think of it as a naval warfare game, like "Black Flag", but with science fiction and outer space trappings, you'll probably appreciate it. If you think of this as a space flight simulator, you will be very disappointed and probably miss out on a good time.
Short with a mild learning curve but good gameplay.
A fun, casual space sim. The story is minimal, but the gameplay makes up for it. It has a gradual progression system, the combat is enjoyable, and you can choose to just coast through the galaxy with country music playing in the background.
If you like grinding non stop and killing space scum while you jam out to the same song for hours non stop, then this is the game for you. 9 out of 10.
This is an incredibly fun game! It reminds me of the old Escape Velocity series but it is more of a Space Western. The combat is fun, the soundtrack is phenomenal! Unfortunately, I didn't feel any incentive to do anything outside combat missions as they seemed to be the fastest and funnest way to improve yourself by a long shot, but it was so fun I didn't care. This game scratches an itch that is hard to reach. Give it a try. You will spend long hours in some pretty epic space battles.
It's a fun game that scratches the itch of a space combat/flight sim without being too restrictive for PC specs. It's not too in depth with travelling being on a flat plane (no up/down navigating) and you can't hire crew to help improve the ship (like as in Faster Than Light), but I get to be a space trucker of contraband and run through blockades, so that's fun.
The difficulty seems to increase with the value of the ship, more expensive base ship = more difficult encounters; so be mindful on how quickly you purchase a new ship. Thankfully, the game is very forgiving with purchases of ships and ship parts. To my knowledge the buying/selling is 1:1, so you don't lose money if you change your ship to a lower tier or sell a turret to a buy a different type.
A shame there's practically no modding scene. Overall, this is a fun game and I recommend it.
This game suddenly will not work in windows 10 steam execute error was not an original steam game i am going to get it from the original site
Great game. I love a good that gets universe/galaxy scaling right. I am a slut for ship-based games and this hit that itch. There is an small issue with difficulty scaling, but it's not that bad once you upgrade your ship. Was a great use of 90 hours.
fun retro space rogue game
This game has no idea how difficulty works. It will tell you you're doing a low risk mission when all the sudden 3 destroyers and 15 bombers/fighters show up out of nowhere and just ruin the game. I really really want to say I like this game but it can't even explain or properly implement its difficulty system. Massive bummer.
Amazing game would recommend it 10/10
This game is fun, but at this point the bugs are inexcusable. It's somehow more buggy now than it was when I first purchased it. Ive had a lot of fun with this game, but the escort quests alone are infuriating. I had to uninstall again, doubt I will be coming back to this one. Every session with this game ends with frustration with some bug or ai glitch. Used to love this game, but every time I come back to it, it seems to be a little bit worse. Its such a shame, as I've said its quite fun, but with the amount of times I've smashed alt-f4 in rage at this game I cannot recommend it.
It's a very nice little game.
The story itself is short, but the corner of the galaxy you're in has its charm, with well voice acted character, excellent soundtracks (which you can customize. Personally I went with Cowboy Bebop), and very beautiful graphics that renders space and spaceships spectacularly well.
Where Rebel Galaxy truly shines is its gameplay loop. It is basically a progression to the top, looking for better guns to put on bigger ships with thicker shields. The progression isn't all vertical though.
I had much fun getting right behind bigger ships with my more manoeuvrable corvettes and drilling their hull where they couldn't blast me. Or escaping swarms of fighters, only to slow down a bit and snipe a few before fleeing again.
Additionally, while it wasn't my desire, you can very well roleplay as a more civilian entrepreneur, mining and trading enormous hauls to sell where the market is best. Combat is still very much an important factor, but you don't need to be a military dreadnought to roll over would be pirates.
So skill and style of gameplay have their place.
Piloting a ship can be a bit strange at first, but the game ease you into it. It is on a 2d map, meaning you'll never have to manage the verticality, except for some fighters who fly all over the place, but automated turrets knows how to reach them.
As for the difficulty, do not worry too much. If you reach the limit of your skill, the game rewards patience and diligence. Do some missions, earn your money on a more manageable system, and then buy yourself a better equipment. It will make all the difference. By the end, I had the biggest ship fully upgraded, a flat death star, and only in the most dire situation did I need to manoeuvre a bit. Otherwise, I just had to be there, and rotate a bit for everything to explode around.
If you do missions though, nI recommend not taking any escort missions. The AI can be frustrating on several levels.
Finally, the story.
It is short, but sweet. I was really hoping the end wasn't the end, the story of this weird chasing of mysterious artefacts with half the badlands gunning for us made me smile. I grew attached to the characters introduced (that I didn't kill for being double-crossing pyjacks), and I can only wish there would be more of them.
But it is just an adventure, with its heights, its doubts, its dangers, and in the end, its goodbyes.
All in all, a good game for a few hours of fun. And perhaps to return to once in a while.
Rebel Galaxy is an arcadey space game about how dope it would be if Assassin's Creed: Black Flag's ship combat were in space.
too bad its not coop so you can play with a few friends n form fleets together? also build n design different n better ships
This is a great game if you want to fly around in a space shift do some trading, some mining, some light or major piracy. Sandbox space game where you don't need a friggin PHD aeronautics and a dang joystick to fly around feeling like a awesome space captain. This makes space in this game on a level plain like a ship on the ocean I found it very enjoyable and fun. The game difficultly can be spiky and sometimes frustrating but learning this game is a blast and once you know you mostly know. I am really glad I brought this game and certainly got my moneys worth. Get the fault tracker early and mine.
I'm a little surprised at how well this game was received.
Wonky, weird, bad controls, not fun.
This game is so addictive. Working your way up and getting better gear is very fun. Very few ships feel useless, everything has it's pros and cons, some just more than others. I put a ton of hours into this game in a single week, it's honestly crazy.
****
I didn't know what I was buying when I got Rebel Galaxy. I expected a dumb indie game.
I was wrong. Rebel Galaxy is simple in concept, but all the game mechanics come together to create a deeply immersive and compelling experience.
Put simply, the game is a lot of fun... just pure fun. It doesn't punish you, it doesn't make you grind, but you still feel you've earned everything you got. It gives you purpose and meaning to everything you do which makes you want to fire it up randomly throughout your day.
I highly recommend this game.
I've tried and tried and tried to get into this game. I absolutely LOVE Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. It's one of my all-time favorite space games.
Let me preface this with saying I never had a console growing up. I'm 45 now. The only gaming system I had was an Atari/Colecovision that belonged to my grandparents, and I only got to play when I visited them. I never got a Nintendo, never got a Sega or a N64 or PlayStation, etc. I played computer games a lot, though. Especially spaceship games. Those are my favorite. If you can look at my list of games on my profile, you can see that. So I never really learned how to play with a controller. I SUCK at games that make me use a gamepad. I just can't synchronize the camera with the movement, there's too many buttons, etc.
I have 1,500 hours in Elite. I've got over 100 hours in Everspace 2 and RGO. I play tactical space games like Nexus the Jupiter Incident, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2, Homeworld, and a dozen other space combat dogfighting games. I'm not the best but I'm not bad at them, either.
But this game, dude. The controls are so freaking wonky, the camera is so bizarre, the combat so clunky and weird and hard to follow... I just can't recommend this game. I know it has massively loyal fans, and I understand why. The universe it's set in is great, it has a lot of style. Sort of like Firefly or other "space westerns". It has that feel, and I completely dig that.
But no matter how many times I've tried (and I've tried, I have 40 hours into this game), I still can't "get" it. The controls and the camera movements... I don't dig that.
If you think you might like it, try it. Go for it. It's pretty cheap at this point. I'm sure you can get it for just a few bucks when it's on sale. But I can't recommend it. Sorry to you hardcore fans, but this game and the way its meant to be played just isn't for me.
Fun Spaceship Broadside simulator with a good country metal soundtrack.
Pros: Simple, can play literally whenever, pretty fun (played mostly offline, actual hrs are around 100 over 2 playthroughs)
Cons: Simple: feels grindy at times; cant move vertically, mining is obviously almost never worth it, nor is trading
I got this game for 2$ and I am getting a refund. Why? Because I don't want to use the key board and mouse. I cant remap to use the controller and I shouldn't have to. I have a PS4 controller that works on Elden Ring, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, and many more. It may or may not be a good game, but I don't want to use the damn keyboard.
Good simple fun.
pretty decent
A really good, streamlined, open world space sim. it reminds me a lot of Sid Mier's Pirates! but in space. The feeling of flying a capital ship and the sense of progression as you increase your power is great. The variety of weapons and equipment means you can try different approaches.
The setting is also great fun, with the Space Western theme. I love the sequel, but wish they'd kept with this feeling of capital ship combat, but expanded.
Either way, the fact it's a pretty straightforward game, without thousands of planets, makes the game feel focused. You feel amazing, broadsiding other capital ships, angling your shields, using missiles and carrying out a mix of missions.
Would DEFINITELY recommend if you want something a bit more pick-up-and-play, or Freelancer esque.
Did you enjoy Assassin's Creed Black Flag naval combat?
Were you looking forward to seeing that gameplay expanded in Skull and Bones?
Well. this is the game Skull and Bones should have been except it's in space.
Get it on sale.
Get it for the soundtrack.
Get it for the vibes.
Get it for the unique experience of being a deep-space trucker who's also heavily armed and trigger happy.
It feels a little wonky and unfinished. Get it anyway.
boring repetitive game play loop bad save options if you die and re load into the same situation you die over and over again imposible to continue the game dont waste your money on this poor game
game is somewhat generic, and overly simple, like a really good phone game. you cant fly up and down or roll, its basically like playing the game asteroids, but its 3d and everyone else is doing cool manuevers except you. decent progression, but very limited... just play everspace if this peaks your fancy
I just feel weird playing the game is cool to have different ships and modules but the grind and the go here go there WARP INHIBITED WARP INHIBITED WARP INHIBITED, other than that is a OK.
ömere giren review
Great game, runs wonderfully on deck
is good game
The game looks pretty good on the highest settings, plenty of available RAM for this game.
Ship gearing aspects is simple enough, threat levels is hinting your current gear score of your current ship.
I didn't need to read anything to learn how to play. So refreshing!
This game is entertaining. I highly recommend it.

Nice game, quite similar to Freelancer (though not as good)
Annoying and repetitive. Can't even manually save the game.
Very good game. Took me almost 70 hours to get all achievements. Kinda repetitive but still made it.
Advice on Antimatter Speck as it can be very hard to find: Just keep fighting Viriax on last system instead of looking for it to mine.
Also on spawning Pirate Lords: Just break sieges like Korian Invasion, Crime wave, Military Embargo as they are events. It means it force the game to RNG another event and Pirate Lords are considered events which MAY pop up.
A good fun space battle game. Don't look for in depths system trees or even three dimensions (pretty much all on one plane), but it's still very fun and satisfying blowing the heck out of a destroyer after pounding away at its shields forever. I do really like the warp drive design. A lot of games could benefit from the way this game actually lets you navigate warp speed instead of just a cutscene.
The game's difficulty is not so well balanced and its categorization of how difficult a mission or a region is, is entirely based on your equipment level. Means that a mission can be seen as easy because you have a few high level guns but is actually very hard because your armor and shields are low and a big swarm of enemy low-level fighter jets will rip you to shreds faster than you can blow them up. As long as you priorize defense over weapons and keep a steady equipment level, the missions danger state is most of the times realistic. At that point the game quickly becomes kinda grindy because higher level equipment is expensive, means you need to grind a few millions first before you upgrade your gear from Lv 4 to Lv 5. After playing through the campaign, it suddenly boils down to this grinding. I was able to find one side campaign and played through that as well, don't know if there is more. It's a fun game for 40 like hours but I'm not sure if I'd play it just for fun after that.
Space!
Amazing!
This sound track and how it is handled in the game is actually more then half of the fun and the joy! :)
