Crafted by mortal hands yet touched by the divine, this racing game, blessed by the gods, ascends as the ultimate masterpiece ever brought into existence.
Great game, lots of fun. Spent many hours playing it when I was younger and I still love it to this day. Runs great on Win11, all I had to do is limit the FPS in the settings to avoid the slow menu. Recommend it!
although there is only 3 RC cars to choose from, the environments give a good representation of taking a RC car to a beach in real life, Minus the whole harassing humans part. the career doesn't have a story and can be challenging especially the last map you race on, but overall the career is easy with some difficulty. if your into RC cars, this would be a good pick

This game is a mess, might have been okay when it came out in 2003, but not in 2023. I am not even talking about the graphics, they are fine and kind of what you'd expect. The main menu is locked to 800x600 resolution, the gameplay itself does play at modern resolutions though. The controls are way too twitchy, no matter how I set them up. To me, this just isn't a fun game.
I unfortunately couldn't play the game properly. The whole thing is laggy, buggy, and extremely slow. It's not enjoyable.
Not a bad little game, certainly worth the 79p on sale. It works and it runs smoothly with no modding or messing about, which is more than can be said of some games newer than this. I just set it to 1024x768 and it looks fine (it's an old game). However, be aware of the following:
- Turn the steering sensitivity right down, and the deadzone up a bit, otherwise the handling is uncontrollable.
- Turn the music off. It's just awful.
- The menus are perhaps the worst I've ever used. Trying to figure out what you're actually selecting is a game in itself. Once you get it, you get it, but they're as far from intuitive as it's possible to be.
bought this game and doesn't work ....even mapping the game pad ....all it does is jump cant even drive forward cos all it does is jump waste of money and if i knew how to recover my money i would even though it was 0.79pence....
Just cap the FPS at 60 and it runs as well as any modern title. This game is such blast from the past and has aged like fine wine. The gameplay is still fun and the physics are awesome. I love finding shortcuts in the tracks. There are only 3 cars but you can upgrade them which I found to be really cool. Only issue is it doesn't seem to have analog steering. I can bind steering to my analog sticks but it is no different than using a keyboard.
I'll echo others and say driving these rc cars do take some skill and it is not just holding down the accelerator and driving without thinking. But it is very rewarding once you figure it out and take turns just at the right angle, make jumps at the right time. Very simulation like feel to it which is awesome.
This steam version of the game is bugged, it is running so slowly and all the cars are bouncing around instead of driving. I came here to play game I used to play as a child and all I got is disappointment.
Great game, not too complicated, creative tracks and different cars that fits your style of play.
Championship mode is pretty soild, and the game comes with a good soundtrack.
Even if you want to chill out with your friends on LAN, this stuff is worth every cent.
The only thing you need to learn is to manuver your car accordigly on terrain, but apart from that its one of the best racing experience i had.
Running this on my recent system has lots of lagging issues, making the game have very weird physics and running sluggish. A real shame
Edit: found the developer's comment to fix this (set max FPS) and game is running fine now. Nostalgic throwback!

RC Cars was my childhood game and I played a lot, great maps and cool car physics, but ... well the steam version has a lot of bugs, and the biggest mistake is that in the menu and in the game you can not hear the effects or the voices of cars - you only hear music, please fix it !! Still, the game is worth your attention and worth buying :).

RC Cars to moja gra dzieciństwa i bardzo dużo w nią grałem, świetne mapy i fajna fizyka samochodów, i oczywiście ten klimat. Ale... no właśnie wersja na steama ma masę błędów, problemy z rodzielczością, wydajnością itp, ale największym jest to że w menu i w grze nie słychać efektów, ani odgłosów samochodów - słychać tylko muzykę, proszę naprawcie to!! Mimo tego gra jest warta uwagi i warto ją kupić, nawet jeśli nigdy nie graliście powinniście się przy niej fajnie bawić.

Imma start by saying when I played it first I still was a post-Soviet kid who had a 1Tb upload on torrents cuz I was pirating so much content.. my whole country wouldn't be able to pay it off. Now I changed my ways, went overseas and started supporting game devs by grabbing anything that looks good on steam sales.
This game had a completely different name then, in Russian at least, it was called "Not childish racing" if taken in literal translation, and can't tell which came to be first, that or RC Cars. Regardless, it's still among my favourites.
For an experienced hand this gem of a game engine will be even enjoyable after some practice (somehow it reminds me of Rocket League). The cars behaves pretty much the way you'd expect it to, considering its size and weight. One thing to learn would be all the shortcuts, otherwise some tracks may be impossible to win.
Whether you like it or not, you will:
- set max FPS to 60 (there's no other way to use the menu)
- bounce a lot (remember the tracks terrain and watch for traffic ALWAYS)
- swear at the car stretching its spine and going sideways randomly (just fragging pray that jumping will fix it)
- fall off the cliff/into the water, fly away into the dark tunnel (press F to.. well you know)
- get shot by an APC or troops
[*]race same tracks over and over to grind some money [required to join races]
Additionally, you can race someone in split-screen but it gets boring because it's just the 2 of you.
Pure nostalgia.
To anyone having a slow menu and/or buggy/unplayable cars: Limit FPS to 60.
I played this game when I was a kid, it was great fun! Too sad its almost unplayeble on modern-day pc system, cause of incompatibility issues :( Full of bugs...

Trust me, it didn't hold my attention for long.
I got this because I compleatly remember playing this on my cousin's old Window's XP computer, and I was wanting a nostalgia reboot. Well, apperently I didn't remember that it was this buggy. And plus, it just isn't that good. It's hard to describe. Races are too long, too boring, functions didn't work, and to top it off, I was using a controller, which isn't good, because you can only navigate using the left stick. This was a problem and I just wanted to use the pad, but I couldn't. Anyway, a crappy developer with a crappy game.
Hell, they couldn't keep my attention in the game for 30 minutes, 1st race compleated, and wanted to race the next track. Wait, I have to race the same track AGAIN? Nope. Uninstalled, and refunded on Steam to get what I really want.

Most of this review can be summed up one way, and that's by saying this is a 1C game.
1C are Russian game publishers characteristically known for how alien their games feel. They've gotten better in recent years, but this is an old school 1C game from 2003, back when you wondered if they were from another planet. If you want to play RC Cars, you're going to have to work for it.
To get this game to work correctly, you primarily have to do two things:
- Manually set the game's framerate (otherwise it won't run properly). I suggest 60fps.
- Manually set your controller's analog senstivity AND the analog deadzone (otherwise, you won't be able to control your vehicle).
Once you do this, you'll be able to navigate the game's confusing menu system and eventually compete in a race. The game itself is pretty difficult; the cars themselves seem to almost have sort of a simulation feel to them. What this means is that any little bump in the road will often fling you wildly out of control, just like a real RC car. But, with enough finesse, you'll eventually come to grips with it.
Tracks are laid out in obtuse patterns. Early tracks follow the typical racing game format of circuits, but it's not long until 1C takes the "checkpoint race" concept in more esoteric directions, leading you down narrow dead ends and back out again. Tracks themselves take you across beaches, deserted ghost towns, mines, busy highways and active military bases.
Vehicles can be customized, but not much. Each of the four or five available vehicles have several different paint jobs, and can be upgraded in three categories: boost, engine, and tires. Upgrades cost money, which can be won by completing championship races. What you might not realize at first is that you also have to pay to enter championship races; on one occasion I spent so much on vehicle upgrades that I had grind for more money just to do the next race.
Would I recommend the game? Given that it's only $5, sure. It's not going to blow your socks off, and you might actually end up getting annoyed eventually, but it's just different enough from the norm that I think it's probably worth it.
RC Cars is a simple little racer originally released in the PS2 era. Unlike similar games, there are no weapons, it's just pure racing. There are various obstacles around the tracks to hamper your progress, and jumps and bumps to fly over.
Driving the cars is fairly easy as it's an arcade racer through and through. Most of the vehicles seem to grip well and aren't affected too much by rough terrain as in some other RC racers. The AI isn't too bad either, of course the other drivers will bash and shove you but your car isn't affected that much by this so they don't push you into a spin causing you to lost the race in the last 100 yards.
Graphically it's pretty good for a game of it's age with nicely detailed cars and tracks. It looks a little sparse compared to a modern game and some of the textures seem fairly low quality, but as I said it's and older game, so probably looked OK at the time.
Sound is decent to with the main engine sounding like a tiny engine should and plenty of ambient sounds such as waves crashing on the beach or the sound of gulls. Music however is not so good. It's not especially bad, just more of a background noise while you race.
Problems? Well when I first loaded it up I experienced the same annoying slow menus as everyone else, then when I eventually managed to get into the game my car just bounced around uncontrollably. This was the cause of much swearing and I nearly wrote this review based on that, but then I adjusted the graphics and now everything seems fine. The menus are snappy and the cars control well.
All in all this game is sort of average. Once you sort out the problems it's fun for a while. Having said that I'm not sure I'd want to pay 4.99 for it, but if you get it on sale it's fine.
BTW. I don't know if this will help anyone, but since it is and old game I ran CPU Killer to limit the speed of my system. The game was jerky, but the menus were more responsive and the when I got into the game the physics seemed OK. Then I just adjusted the graphics to 1920x1080, maxed everything and set frame limited to 60 rather than unlimited. I've ran it a couple of times since (without CPU Killer) and it seems fine with nice snappy menus and cars that stay on the road.
I find the game fun to play despite the suspension going wild sometimes (always at the same spot in the track) but the menus are just so damn slow. It's so irritating. I think 2/3 of my Steam 'playtime' is just menu time. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
EDIT : Change your frame rate in the menu to 35 or 40 and the menu will run fine. Great game now!
The racing feels somewhat like Mario cart. Can be fun if it works right.
Notes:
- The menus were slow and unresponsive until I limited the framerate in the advanced options.
- The game was made for a 4:3 resolution and stretches for 16:9. Choose a 4:3 resolution or everything will look wider than it is.
- Car reset sets you back to the last check point, which can be quite a stretch back. Avoid that.

The game has moving obstacles, a track that allows for nonobvious shortcuts, and local splitscreen as well as TCP/IP multiplayer.
Haha this game is great. Once I'd figured out how to get my gamepad working and turn down the sensitivity (a lot!) it was superb. The graphics are really good, and there are some amusing things like the people on the beach trying to kick your RC car out of the way, and a nice pumping soundtrack to get the adrenaline pumping. Love it!
