Visceral, dirty, and raw.
This game is not for everyone, but there is something here for people who want to be immersed. Do not expect a tight third person shooter, but instead enjoy it for what it is.
A shooter that expects you to miss and not distinguish an enemy and a civilian, because within the madness of a gunfight, you are not superhuman or John Wick.

Kane and Lynch 2: Dog days is a misunderstood product of its time, that never got the flowers it deserved. This title provides an experience so unique and extreme that seems hard to be replicated, let alone in today's gaming industry. Not without its flaws however, this duo's escapade seems to be a rough hidden gem that could defintely be worth your time and money, depending on how much you enjoy dark and gritty narratives with over the top violence. Yet, this game never fails to insinuate there's more to it under its filthy surface.
The second installment in the franchise sees the now notorious duo meeting again in Shanghai to facilitate an arms deal, so lucrative, that could be their 'last job', the ticket they need to exit their dangerous of way of life. However, a domino effect of unfortunate events spirals Kane and Lynch into a blood soaked nightmare full of volatile adversaries, dwindling allies and unforgiving circumstances. Their 48 hours in Shanghai will be a testament to their unity as well as a harsh lesson. Old dogs can't learn new tricks...
The gameplay of K&L 2 boils down to a bare bones third person cover shooter. You will take turns shooting behind cover and avoid being shot yourself for the majority of this 5-7 hour campaign. The cover system is clunky as well as the shooting mostly feeling inaccurate at best. However, this is more of a design decision, to underline the pressure of the characters and the chaos amidst the gunfire. Tons of rounds needed to gun down enemies over distance and cover is never a true safe space, since the AI will always try to flank and shoot potshots around or over your position. Sadly, this game, even though it has solid moment to moment gameplay, the monotony of the campaign will showcase some
of it's poorly aged mechanics.
Where the title shines the most however, is in it's art direction and plot delivery. The whole game feels like it's been recorded in one of those shaky and old camcorders. Giving the player the sense that they are watching forbidden found footage from a dark website. Shooting enemies via headshots will pixelate the gore, explosions will ruin the audio for a few moments and loading screens show the camera buffering and loading pictures. This title has an undying commitment to delivering the narrative via this way, really enhancing immersion and giving it its own unique style that is unrivaled! The level design is also superb, offering diverse locals with powerful scenery and beautiful color implementation.
The two protagonists exchange some very well written dialogue throughout the campaign with phenomenal voice work done to support it. The cinematography is on point, with every cutscene more gripping than the previous. Everything here culminates in an intense thriller experience designed to make you feel uncomfortable and second guess whats about to happen next.
K&L 2 is a also a coop experience. Even thought it can be played solo, the game is greatly enhanced with a buddy on board. There's also a multiplayer component that is now mostly inactive, however if you find a match to play, it seems very interesting and fun with a couple of game modes to choose from bearing interesting gimmicks.
All in all, Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days was an experience that I will likely never forget. It charmed me with it's art style that it wears so proudly and kept me on edge with it's narrative and characters. If you can get past some gameplay oversights and the overall length, I'd say that this game can impress in ways you wouldn't guess.
Bad men doing bad things in Shanghai. What could go wrong?
The Kane & Lynch series is criminally underrated. I absolutely love its atmosphere, setting, sound design, and characters. While the gameplay isn't top-tier, the overall experience is worth it for these elements alone. The game’s tone is dark and depressing, and the unique, grainy "YouTube-like" camera format adds to its immersive storytelling.
In my opinion, it’s worth buying the game just for its iconic menu screen — one of the best I’ve ever seen! The music design also amplifies the unsettling atmosphere of the game, with certain scenes standing out in particular. For example, an early shootout features police sirens blended into the music and sound effects, creating a hopeless, eerie mood that’s hard to forget.
I love how this game looks like a Live Leak video. Loathe just about everything else.

Interesting experience.
Kane & Lynch is a unusual experience , story is about 2 people who mostly dislike eachother and often get in their way. Lynch is more of a chaotic lunatic with short temper while Kane is more of a reasonable fella, but still they are both very bad in the head. I think the thing that sell's this game is the story , it's very brutal ,tragic and doesn't hold back when comes to bloody scenes. Also the dynamic between our 2 protagonists , they like eachother slightly but mostly they despise eachother , working together only cuz they have nobody else.
Gameplay does start to get better as the story continues but it's repetetive , I did like, very much the helicopter scene where we could go ham and unload the lmg. Tho stealth needs to be rlly improved upon , something like a bar before u are seen or better looking around corners.
It's a okay game , I see upsides and downsides but there's allot to be improved upon. I don't think series should end here , since I see allot of potential and now Kane & Lynch having new fans could rlly give allot of criticism for next game and make it best of the series! But devs need to remember what Kane & Lynch is... it's a ugly game about horrible people.
6/10 I will give it another play and think about scores perhaps there are so gems hidden there!

I got this game to play with it with a friend, we finished this one in one sitting and not gonna lie it's an alright game for 2010. At the time games like this would've been considered beautiful graphics-wise but there's only one con. $9,99 for a 2 hour experience personally I'd buy this game when it's on sale, I saw that on GOG the complete pack sold for $5 (on sale) and I think that $5 for a 2 hour story is a fair price. Regardless though, It's an alright game finished it in one go with my friend and I recommend it. Same goes for Kane and Lynch: Dead Men but sadly it's not available on steam but you can go get it on GOG and experience it as well. :)
This game is ugly, disturbing and makes you feel sick while playing it. An antidote to all the modern slop coming out of the game industry. This game isn't a masterpiece, but there's something here.
Stockholm Syndrome - The Game. It’s bad. In a good way. Like watching a "so-bad-it’s-good" movie. The controls are bad, the gunplay is bad, and the level design can be frustrating. Yet, despite all of that, it oozes atmosphere. The famous camcorder look gives it a raw, visceral feeling. The story that unfolds reflects the main characters: ugly, dirty, unlikable—yet, deep down, you root for them. It reveals your voyeurism fetishes, and you’ll want to feed them until the credits roll.

Among the ho hum tide of games that fills my backlog to the brim, Kane and Lynch 2 stands out like a sore, bleeding thumb that someone has stomped upon. I learnt about this game in a Jacob Geller video, which talks about 'ugly games'. I picked this one up at a steep discount, merely because it felt to me at that moment, that I might enjoy some senseless violence.
So what's the verdict?
Is Dog Days fun? No. It is a linear third person shooter, with very limited array of things to do - which often involves only moving and shooting. Is the story solid? Hah. The story is non-existent and haphazard, and the character motivations are meh. Is the game good? In my opinion, HELL YES.
To be clear, there are some strikingly good things about Dog Days.
First, the camera and visuals. You, the third person, are a sort of an in-game character who follows Kane and Lynch around. Sure, your keys control them, but your camera is a distinct documentary view, and that adds a rawness and realness to the action that I don't remember ever having experienced in an action game. It suddenly makes the weird story relatable, because real life is just as chaotic as this. All the shakes and shudders of the handicam view are so authentic that it feels like you are watching some sort of found footage.
Second, the gunplay is great. Automatic guns are not accurate at all. Shotguns do not hit after a few paces. the most accurate weapons are usually handguns. This, coupled with the revolutionary camera, made so much sense to me. It felt like I was standing besides our protagonists, and the barrage of ammo and death flying around them made me think that if I could shoot accurately that would be ridiculous.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the characters. As I said, the characters don't really have strong motivations until the mid-game, and even then, their actions are mostly aimless. Consider for a moment the nature of this game, its abrupt opening and an equally abrupt ending. We are not meant to follow these characters to fruition. We have dropped down in their world for a few "Dog Days", and after that, we are unceremoniously disposed of.
In this short window, the motivations and foundations of a character are left behind, and the focus is shifted on the actions of these characters. While Kane and Lynch are violent psychopaths, they are not bumbling rookies or evil henchmen. They are proficient in firearms, have a deep understanding of tactics, and trust each other (rather inexplicably) implicitly. While playing the game I kept wondering - what exactly is the real difference between these two and the beloved, modern day antiheroes like John Wick? My conclusion? These two don't have plot armour - at least not as much as Mr. Wick.
And let us not forget whatever minimal backstory we have about our protagonists - Kane is all business, Lynch is a freaking family man. Coupled with their unquestioned loyalty to each other (which, as I said, is puzzling - and that itself is another facet of story hidden from us), their characters became sufficiently complex that I had to see their struggle to its conclusion.
At the measly 4 hour mark, the story is short. But it doesn't really have anything else to say. All the facets of the game, added together, create a mixture that is decidedly more than the sum of its parts. But it is a cocktail that I could not put down, no matter how horrible, gory and gut wrenching the spectacle it became.
In the end, I may not have found closure, but I did find the best worst game that I have ever played yet.
And strangely enough, I am glad I played it.

Played 1st mission 69 times, still could not finish it. I like doing the same thing over and over and over and over again. It is the difinition of insanity after all. Which reminds me that I COULD BE PLAYING A BETTER F*UCKING GAME RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

this is a 4 to 5 hours short ride that i paid like 4 bucks, worth every cent.
its hard to call this game ''vile, disgusting, crude, distasteful, raw'' lately, its 2024 bros we all played fear and hunger, ready or not, and\or many others, maybe my shock value is low but i didn't felt it was the menace a lot of people back then said it was, sure its a bit spicy to swallow and maybe they added too much salt on the beef but this is still a nice snack.
as for the story, best part honestly, while the first game was mid but harmless, this is harmfully tasty (???), as in, the style oozes over its themes and i feel like i'm watching a movie that a director made out of spite, something akin to ''you were never really here'' but of course not that good.
still i see the passion and the game is short enough that the flaws don't have enough time to become too apparent, but i still will talk about them.
too many enemies coming glued to each other like a clown car, the aiming is shit unless you get the better weapons, then its only mid, there should be a button that highlight enemies, i know it would make things 10% easier but this game is too polluted when it comes to the vision, its hard enough to see them as it is, and some are even camouflaged.
its no masterpiece, some would say its not even good, but i think its much better than the first game, and might be one of those hard to watch movies that you enjoy so much, i like it.
This plays out like a goddamn movie. Short, sweet, and full of character... literally. Co-op in this game for the full campaign is a blessing, the camcorder aesthetic makes this feel like Manhunt with a solid cast, plenty of tense moments; its murky, dark, bloody, and the mechanics, though a bit jank, are very quick & easy to learn. The buffering between missions (the same for co-op) can make you a little impatient, but this game got shit on so hard for no reason. I'm in love

2. Кроме бесконечной стрельбы и открытия дверей тут нет ничего, ВООБЩЕ
2.1. Исключение - это миссия, где нужно защищать типа
3. Гранат нет, сражения с вертолётами есть
4. Помощь в прицеливании на геймпаде работает специфически, так что от нее либо вообще толка нет, либо с ней проще играть чем целится в мушку
Вывод: на разок пойдет.
One of the most ugly beautiful games I have ever experienced. I would highly highly recommend it if you want something unapologetic in its difference.

This is the kind of game you get when you put in a bunch of things that would normally annoy the player to no end, but for some inexplicable reason it all just clicks together and provides a non-stop action packed banger from start to end.
So this game is incredibly short, but more playable than the first. Unfortunately, I think the narrative doesn't benefit from the new style and it clashes with the first (going from cinematic to found footage is jarring). The story itself is fine, and I think it has some good moments and shock value. As with the first game, it's just a shame it wasn't made better. Still leaving a positive because there's no mixed option.
I think these two games would be a great target for a reboot by a talented studio with a good budget.
