This is a great game for laptops that cant run the more graphics heavy payday 3. Deadgame my ass its still lively. Just gotta wait a bit for people to join you.
This game is by far, a steal for its price. Only complaint is that it's practically a paradox game with how much DLC you need to buy in order for it to feel like a full game.
10/10 game even after all these years still enjoy it like my first time playing, id definitely recommend buying.
When I tell you that this game is peak, I mean it.
Payday 2 is the best heist sim EVER. I love the DLC (though a lot of stealth and loud loadouts and other things require DLC, yikes), I love the maps, teamwork, and especially the people you'll meet while playing this game. Some people can be douchebags, yes, but I've met super awesome people playing this game that wouldn't mind helping beginners. Better yet, get your friend(s) to play this game with you! Don't be deceived by how old it is, and PAYDAY 3 is kinda doodoo. I have a lot more hours on console, which is more limited, and the PC version has SO much more to offer.
IMHO, 8/10. -2 for being so DLC heavy, but that's what happens when a game is this successful for so long.
Payday manages to be fun, while also not being fun whatsoever. Horrendous grind, quickly repetitive gameplay, extremely satisfying looting and actions, poor stealth, fun combat. If I had to evaluate Payday with all the time I've put in, and all the moment's I've got back, I realise that it was the people I played with that made the game fun, barely the game itself.
Payday is fun when you have hours to throw away into the grinder of retying stealth missions and endlessly repetitive loud missions; Payday is fun when you finally stealth the big heists like Big Bank and The Golden Grin Casino. Payday is fun when your using the most absurd weapon, while wearing the most absurd clothes, while robbing the most absurd bank. Payday is not fun when you lose a perfect run to a bug; Payday is not fun when the monotony gets the better of you, when the weapons, enemies, and maps, all blend together.
I wish Payday was worth it. I wish it was worth it to learn the good maps and dlc's; worth it to find the good weapons and the most fun builds, but its not. Payday is not worth it. It takes too much time, asks to much of you, and doesn't give back what you deserve. Play a better game, that the fate of Payday; always to come back after a couple of years or months, when you forget the repetitive nature of all its mechanics, when it becomes fresh and new again. Only for a few heists later when that monotony starts to creep back in.
Payday is not worth it. It was fun, and will always be fun; but it will never be worth it.
Payday 2 is just one of those games I will never be able to put down forever. Every couple of months, or years, I get that itch to pull off a heist, or to sneak into the white house. And when I see those 0's direct deposited into my bank account, it feels just as good as my first time (pause). I always end up getting tired of it again eventually, but that's okay cause I can never stay away forever. Payday 2 is a flawed game, and Overkill has done some very questionable things with the pricing of the base game and DLC, but with the strength and resolve of the PD2 community, this game will live on forever. Think of PD2 as the CS:GO of heist games; it's that damn replayable. ONLY get this game when it is on sale, and do not buy every single DLC you see. Go through them, look at the reviews, watch videos. Become educated on this game, and you will not be disappointed.
im just happy this game still opens the fact there releasing new stuff for this game kinda shows they understand payday3 sucks for most people who cant even play that dogshit of a game but atleast we have the classic right?..... right?
robbing orphanages to unbankrupt indie devs while killing corrupt fbi agents in a attempt to reincarnate criminal god and revive technoblade
great gamplay been playing for about 8 years super fun lotst of dlcs
laest realistic game means i can do crazy shit (ie dodge)
very cool, but most of the game is in dlc
Just a certified hood classic. incredible gunplay, great customization options for guns, excellent personalization options for masks, tons of missions, etc.
Only 70 hours on steam but about 500 on ps4
10/10
pretty fun except it consumes ALL OF MY INTERNET SPEED.
Funny mask man robs the white house so that the irs doesn't ask for a cut of their stolen funds or something like that, also, russian man has you steal nukes
so much better than the 3rd game. while i did enjoy both, this one had a lot more going for it.
AN AMAZING GAME IN THE FPS/HEIST GENRE
I love this game. It is fast pace, while still being entertaining. I remember one time I was screaming at my friend to get to the helicopter as he was healing on the side. In my opinion, the graphics are okay at best, but the gameplay makes up for it. The game is also over ten years old, so the graphics shouldn't be that good. The main takeaway is that this game is good with randoms, but even better with friends. It might not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy these types of games will love this. 100% worth full-price.
Extra note
For those who are consider payday 2 or 3, here is my advice. As someone who spent hours reading reviews on both games, I can say that people have a better reception to payday 2. Yes, payday 3 will take time to develop in quality, but if you want a good game now, then I suggest you buy this game. There are still many players online playing this game for those who hesitate because it is an old game. For a game that is over 10 years old, this is a great game.
Fun game. Loud lets you easily blaze through on weak levels, stealth takes the most skill in the game. fun either way
This game is arguably one of the best arcade shooters ever made. The game is chaotic, fast and fun, but is rarely ever overwhelming in my experience (except when I get flash-banged like 4 times simultaneously). Though, the single player mode isn't very well balanced for playing loud in my opinion, at least on higher difficulties, with how aggravatingly stupid the teammate AI can be, you'll probably have a lot more fun in this game when playing with other people than by yourself.
This is one of the greatest PC co-op shooters of all time, a timeless classic, a must-play.
Are you a fan of games that require an ADHD amount of user inputs, with heavy emphasis on text communications, and hundreds of hours of content to explore? Payday 2. They don't make games like this anymore, not even the Payday dev.
Payday 2 a classic.
It’s a fun game to play with friends. Alone? Not so much – the NPCs are kinda dumb.
And honestly, I still have no idea how to properly do the drug mission.
Leveling up can also be a bit annoying.
But aside from that, it’s a good game!
I definitely recommend it with friends – the bank robbery missions are super fun to play.
Just shitposting with friends and not playing overtly religiously, this game is fucking amazing, years behind on the craze and payday 3 was mediocre at best, but nothing will beat beating down cops with a pickaxe
this game causes me physical pain, screw you for making me play it Piss Man
great game and the vr dlc is great if you want to play offline only i recommend some bot mods like iter monkeepers and keepers
Great game, great soundtrack, great level design, great gameplay
Absolutely no complaints except cloakers jump scaring me when I least expect it
honestly, just pure blind fun. does not take itself seriously, and i respect that allot.
This game is well regarded as the best game called "PAYDAY 2". This game is by far the best heisting game I can think of. My only real gripe is that it's not that fun to play alone. But grab 1-3 other friends, and it is sure to be a good time.
juegazo 10/10 es hermoso con los graficos, jugabilidad, y etc
All I can say is The Russian Badger got me into the game. And you know what? I DID have a lotta fun visiting the Department of Justice. So far the Hoxton break out mission is my favorite! 11/10, would break him out again.
Payday 2 is a co-op horde shooter stands out from the crowd, but has been hampered by inept developers that seem set on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Updates over the past few years seemed to have made the game worse, be it through mechanics changes nobody asked for, weird buffs, and DLC powercreep.
That being said, Payday 2 has a lot to offer both new and returning players. The amount of content at this point is immense. There is 70 unique heists, about half of which are really good. An extra layer of variety is that heists have RNG elements that change on subsequent playthroughs, like alternate progression paths and obstacles. Through pre-heist planning, players can select their method of entry, what equipment will be pre-placed on the map, and how they will exit. These aspects can significantly change how a heist is played.
My favorite part of this game, and perhaps what sets it most apart from its peers, is its expansive build system. First, there are 24 perk decks. They are kind of your build archetype, and to differing degrees determine how your build will play. Then, you get to distribute 120 skill points across 75 unique skills. Skills will make or break your build, allowing you to shore up your perk deck's weaknesses, or capitalize on its strengths. Others are general purpose, allowing you to complete objectives faster or to better help you team. Finally, there are skills reserved for make you weapons more effective, and boy there are a lot of weapons. I'm not going to count them, but at this point there is probably over a hundred, most of which occupy useful niches.
As for difficulty, this game always offers a challenge. You can make it as braindead easy or hair-pullingly difficult as you want. Most players still wont touch the highest difficulties (Death Sentence and Death Sentence One Down) because of the steep damage curve, but it seems the game in balanced around DS/DSOD. You really have to stretch your build-making and develop a good understanding the game's mechanics to succeed, and no other co-op shooter I've played offers this level of resistance. Once you can play well with the strongest perk decks, you can move down to builds you find unique or interesting.
The modding community for this game is also very strong. The most popular mods are HUD mods, as apart from their stylistic changes, they allow you see you various statuses and active/passive ability cool downs. Once you get a handle of the game, I would recommend downloading one of these, along with various community bug fixes.
If you get nothing else from this review, just understand this game is worth your time in 2025. Nothing like it has come out before or since, and in my 1000 hours I am still getting better and trying new builds and playstyles, despite the best efforts of Overkill Software.
Seriously though... Payday 2 is the only reason these actual clowns are still in business, yet they are still actively screwing with it despite it being more than a decade old. I have no idea how anybody there is employed and hasn't started a fruitful career at EA fucking over an entirely new and exotic fan-base.
For real though, Payday 2 is a good game.
This game is so good even today, you can't really get board of a game like this I recommend playing this game, there is so many things you can do and different play styles you can do, every heist will be different depending on what skills, equipment, and weapons you bring. 10/10 its worth buying
I used to play this game a decent bit about 4 years ago, though stopped probably because of school and I got into other things like, I guess, RPGs or whatever. I'm revisiting it now and it's honestly a little better than I remember. I had a really complicated relationship with this game because I honestly didn't think it was that good - but especially after Payday 3's horrible launch, this game is actually pretty good afterall in hindsight.
- Firstly, builds in this game are legit cool. The skill trees are very easy to understand, although there's some jank like having to buy unnecessary skills so you can get the ones you actually want for your build. Perk decks are decent; some are very boring while others like Stoic, Anarchist, and Hacker change your gameplay quite a bit (these in particular are honestly the best part of this entire game imo). And there's a lot of builds you can do too - they make the most of it overall.
- Heists kind of waver from fine to great. There are some definite classics like Big Bank, Hoston Breakout, GCC, The White House, Birth of Sky (my personal #1), etc. I honestly always preferred to do my favorites on repeat though, because most are just decent and aren't super special. Oh, also, Cook Out is underrated as hell - I've spent so many nights playing that for over an hour to rack up money and EXP. Gotta also mention the super open heists like Goat Simulator and Alaskan Deal, which are usually pretty fun with a dodge build.
- Stealth is kind of fine, there's some great stealth heists for sure like Shadow Raid and The Yacht Heist but I find it too simple/primitive overall. I wish there was some Cyberpunk 2077 stuff like distracting enemies with throwables and quickhacks to make it less of a slog. I only really find stealth-optimized missions to be worthwhile.
- The characters are pretty fun, my favorite would be Clover. They also have a H3H3 character pack where you can play Ethan and Hila, which I think is hilarious but I don't think it's worth the $5.
- The monetization is iffy, because half the content in this game (maybe even more) is locked under DLC which totals over $200. It's fine, but there's a lot of stuff that I never ended up buying because I just didn't think it would be worth it despite only costing a few dollars. This is definitely a game that's good bang for your buck during sales, though.
- I'd say the soundtrack is decent, there's some really good, blood-pumping songs particularly when you decide to go loud. Though honestly, at one point I just set my loud track to I Will Give You My All 2017 because I heard it once and decided it was by far the best. Banger, ngl.
- I don't like infamy at all, and I'm only ever going to go infamous once. Doing the whole loop of starting over is honestly boring as shit, and they made the entire process linear with Infamy 3.0 instead of giving you a grid/tree to pick what reward you want, which makes it even worse. Besides, I really like the glasses you get with the first level already. So overall, I don't see any need to participate in this, there's not really a gameplay loop here - it's just constantly restarting to get more cosmetics.
Anyways, this game is a blast to play with friends or just a good lobby. That's really where most of my enjoyment comes from, because at the end of the day coming up with a strategy to take on Big Bank or Shadow Raid with decent communication is just plain fun. Like, at a certain point you can just play this forever cycling through all the best heists with your friends and making up new builds. Playing with randoms is kind of rarely great though; I've definitely met a lot of weirdos and manchildren on here. But when this game works, I think it's pretty good.
U play as a jonukas the stealer and steal coke, cook meth, shoot people, steal gold, guns, warhead u know, just average day in america
Robbed bank, police arrive, drop kicked by cloaker, backshots from tank, laughed at by taser, heist-mates joined in to laugh at me, escaped with little to no cash. Then I got home, bought this game and experienced the same thing as the real thing! 10/10 would reccomend! :D
Great game, great verity of weapons, load outs, skills etc. Really makes every heist feel different from the last. Running whatever build you want or one that suits the mission or your play style is super fun and gives the game so much more replay value. Great single player experience but is even more fun with friends. Definitely glad I bought this game.
good game
Great game, Havn't played Payday 3 but I don't really plan to with how much fun I'm having in this game lol
I prefer going loud in the missions but the highest difficulty I've done is "Very Hard" so that might change in higher difficulties.
Only 1 negative i can say is the amount of recoil some guns have is insane to me and the recoil pattern is hard to follow(to mitigate the recoil effects on your aim)
Overall a fantastic game and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking about picking this game up. Definitely worth the price and the DLCs, even tho I don't like DLCs, are also worth but make sure to get the ones with missions first then get the rest, that's what I recommend.
11/10 would recommend again.
Crashes sometimes and you need like 20 dlc's to play the game but to be fair there only like 1$ each.
a love story about 4 mens and their inability to buy a drill that is working properly
also don't buy payday 3.
pros: Insane how this game creates the best gameloop i have ever seen, with incredible characters, furry mods
cons: I cannot play the game because diesel and win11 dont work together like dumptruck and my face
PAYDAY 2 is life baby. This game has so much content, takes a casual player at least 1 year to get infamy 100 and get all achievements. And for 13 Canadian bucks? That's a steal.
absolutely fantastic, some of the best fun i've had. so many weapons & skills to choose. probably better with friends [idk, i've only played solo thus far] 10/10

Payday 2—on console, it’s an absolute blast. Nothing beats the thrill of a heist, getting in and out with your crew, and feeling like a criminal mastermind. But let’s be honest, the game’s pretty arcadey. You can get into an epic shootout with the cops and somehow survive without a scratch, which kind of breaks the immersion.
And honestly, there’s no real competition for the third installment—it’s just not on the same level. Payday 2 has that perfect mix of chaos and strategy, but Payday 3? Feels a little too much like it’s trying to be something it’s not. Still, the fun is real, even if it’s a bit over-the-top.
Got this game while it was on sale, 100% worth it, only complaint is I should have bought it for full price,
dogshit stealth that makes me wanna rip my eyes out and commit manslaughter on the nearest homeless man however the loud gameplay is so fucking good that i wanna give that same homeless man CPR even though hes already been decapitated and has no pulse holy shit im going to jail bro
very limited avenues for the objectives, takes too long for an episode in the career mode, there's always an error while trying to play in the online mode
They looked at this game and said it was too unrealistic and then made it again but worse
Mind you this games canon opening mission went down in its worlds history as the biggest case of grand larceny at the time
hehe funny man wants a medic bag (In all seriousness, its a great game, the gameplay, the heists, the customizablity, the lore (actually we don't talk about the lore), it all comes together to create a game that has come as close as humanly possible to perfection, all that ON A GAME ENGINE MADE FOR A RACING GAME.
Truly a masterpiece of all time.
A million different ways to play, I highly recommend this for anyone who loves fast paced tactical shooters, or if you'r interested in stealth instead, this game has that as an option too. When I say millions, I mean that, this game has so much content and it's all really fun and well made.
The stealth is fun, loud would be fun too if I was any good at cover based shooters. I'm too stubborn to play anything below Death Sentence. The game has quite a large level of skill expression for all aspects of the game, but the stealth is where the game truely shines, imo.
The stealth is definitely super buggy, and many players may get frustrated at 1 mistake cascading into an unsalvageable mess forcing you to restart, but to me that's most of the fun. The stealth maps are designed in a way where if you go in with a proper strategy and knowledge of the map, you can make strategic kills to make different areas safer to make transporting loot effectively risk free. That or if you learn which guards patrol where, you can easily keep track of where the guards are and eliminate all risk with just good routing. The process of learning this can be a bit frustrating, but going from taking heists very slowly, to being able to skirt around guards confidently is super satisfying. The game allows you to do "fast paced" stealth, which truly makes you feel like a legendary thief out of fiction.
In a similar sense, loud (at the highest difficulty) has a similar sense of progression. I found that learning different mechanics in loud, and learning the spawns on different heists contributed the most to being able to somewhat handle the mode. I can imagine with more time and a bit more skill, I would enjoy loud a bit more. Loud plays as a hoard based shooter, and on high difficulties, a hoard based cover shooter, where you need to be out of enemy line of sight to let your armor regen, which prevents you from getting oneshot. If your armor gets broken? Go back in cover and let it regen. There's other perks/skills that help break this gameplay loop, for example some "classes" allow you to stun all guards in your line of sight, some turn the damage you take in a damage over time affect that you can mitigate by not taking damage for a bit, some help regen armor, some gives you a chance to dodge, etc. There's also a skill that lets you regen armor by shooting a head. If you actually take the time to learn these mechanics and playstyles properly, the highest difficulty of loud is quite feasible. If that sounds too difficult, the lower difficulties are just as fun, and play more like a hoard shooter. All the heists are quite fun, with lots of variety. Where one you might burn a giant hole into a vault room, the other may have you hijack a car thats on display, and send it flying through locked doors. This adds quite a bit of replayability to the overall loud gameplay loop in general.
Anyways if you're looking for a criminal roleplay game, this covers both the stealthy and very non stealthy sides fairly well.
aside from the constant crashing this game is GREAT!!!
MUST BUY BUY IT ITS OS GOOD BUY IT
i like the game
