popped 5percs downed that shii with some jim beam and went out to protect rich people and shoot some bad dudes type shiiii
Pretty good game. Great gameplay and an okay story. The presentation of the story was great, but i found at times it was trying way too hard to be "quotable" and have memorable lines. Also the steam achievements didnt work for me for whatever reason
I had to refund the game due to rockstar account requirement. I just want to play a single-player game. Why do I have to go through the extra steps to do it? I know rockstar has some good games. I have tried to set up an account once but it went sour. I remember playing RDR 2 on PS4 and I newer registered for any additional accounts.
It is what it is, and it’s ok. I accept the fact that I will not be playing any of the rockstar games.
Between Max Payne 1,2 and 3 this was my least favourite one for sure. Way too many clunky cut scenes, camera shaking with horrible animations, weird flashing. Also sometimes it felt like combat balance was off. Generally speaking I was glad after I finish it, and I was glad it didnt take too long. Dont get me wrong, it is not bad game. But I personally enjoyed much more 1. and 2. game. Thats why this one still gets thumbs up.
Max Payne 3: A Brutal, Beautiful Masterpiece That Stands the Test of Time
It’s been over a decade since Max Payne 3 came out, and I still can’t shake it. Few games leave a lasting impression quite like this one. Rockstar’s gritty, cinematic take on the tragic tale of Max Payne is nothing short of a masterpiece.
The moment you step into Max’s worn-out shoes, you feel the weight of his past. He’s older, more broken, drowning in alcohol and regret. But the game doesn’t just tell you this. It makes you feel it. The storytelling is raw, unapologetic, and brutally honest. Every cutscene, every line of dialogue delivered flawlessly by James McCaffrey, every bullet fired is dripping with emotion and consequence.
And speaking of bullets, Max Payne 3 delivers some of the best third-person shooting mechanics I’ve ever experienced. The gunplay is weighty, responsive, and just the right amount of chaotic. The bullet time mechanic, one of the series’ trademarks, is refined to perfection. It lets you dive through the air in slow motion, dodging enemy fire while pulling off satisfying headshots. Every gunfight feels like a carefully choreographed action movie sequence, and no two shootouts play the same way.
But what really elevates Max Payne 3 is its presentation. Rockstar didn’t just develop a game. They crafted a living, breathing world that immerses you completely. From the neon-lit nightclubs of São Paulo to the rain-soaked slums, every environment is dripping with atmosphere. The game’s seamless, dynamic camera work keeps the action flowing effortlessly, making it feel like you’re playing through a high-octane crime thriller.
And then there’s the soundtrack. Oh man, the soundtrack. HEALTH’s pulsating, eerie electronic score is nothing short of phenomenal. The moment "Tears" kicks in during that late-game airport sequence? Chills. Every. Single. Time.
It’s rare to see a third installment in a series completely reinvent itself while staying true to its roots. Max Payne 3 doesn’t just live up to the legacy of its predecessors. It elevates it. It’s dark, brutal, and sometimes outright depressing, but it’s also one of the most stylish, satisfying, and emotionally impactful shooters ever made.
If you’ve never played Max Payne 3, do yourself a favor and dive in. And if you have? Well, maybe it’s time for another round.
This game has always been an amazing nostalgic trip, literally cant wait for 1 and 2 remasters.
Worst customer support i have ever seen .... weeks of going back and forth to get back access to my rockstar account but they would never help. will never play one of their games on PC ever again
At first, you will think 'Why did I buy this' and then you will think 'Damn this is challenging'.
Story is short and honestly lack replayability factor, but if you love taking on 20 enemies where you can die in 1 shot, and speedrunning it... this is the game for you.
I would recommend to pick it up on a sale, only gripe would be the high price for the short campaign.
This game is masterpiece, so many action and it's very hard to predict what's going to happen, it feels like a movie.
Easily the best in the series. Max Payne 3 is a 3rd person bullet-time shooter and a masterclass of one, at that. The last of Rockstar's great single player campaigns, Max Payne 3 is a part of video game history. I wish Rockstar would stop trying to make Max Payne 3's out of their open world games and just pick a damn lane already.
Cool game-play mechanic, kinda got repetitive towards the end of the campaign. Max really yaps too much, felt like i was playing stanley parable but with guns. Overall solid game to shut your brain and enjoy to.
Good game to play, considering the story line, it is perfect. Although this game feels incomplete without 4th part. By Far Rockstar has done justice to the Story line, but a 4th Part would complete the Story of Max, he needs a Happy ending in the last.
it crashes a lot, and it started doing so after 2 hours of playtime.... f*ck off
edit: it stopped crashing so much, for some reason, but i'm still gonna leave a bad review cause there's a bug that doesn't unlock steam achievements
Great game.Wanted to play this since 2017. Good story and gunplay.
One of the best high paced John Wick action like games. Overall a great game with a good story and fun gameplay.
its engaging enough for a playthrough, not much else unforunately, unskippable cutscenes are a joke and the gameplay part certainly wasnt a priority in this piece of work
steam achievements dont work btw
'a fat bald dude with a bad temper..'. GOATED game, the gameplay is very enjoyable and kinda interesting, it's not really complex and hard, but if you put Max in bad position you will get obliterated in a second lol. The story is fun, soundtrack is good, graphics are still nice.. Definitely worth it.
apparently my rockstar account was hacked. It is linked to my steam account. I have no way to recover my passport. There is no real-time support. I am unable to play a game i spent money on.
What a fucking joke. I'll probably just pirate the fucking thing now.
Good game but Jeeeeesus Charist could the rockstar launcher be any more trash? No need of it.
This was a great game back in the day, the culmination of an excellent trilogy , I have started playing though it and I am really enjoying it, flying though the air in slow motion blasting multiple fools in the face with various hand guns, automatic weapons, shotguns, it is great fun. Mibbie I should have been a cop in reaI life where I could have went on adventures and shot up the town possibly brought brutal justice to many criminals by shooting them in the face.
I paid around 5 crisp pounds for Max Payne 3 so that I can do that from home while having snacks and nice cups of tea.
It's always nerve wracking to hear that a beloved game franchise is being taken over by a bigger company, but anything being put into the hands of Rockstar Games is bound to ease some of the nerves. living up to the first two games is impossible but they took on the challenge and did an amazing job. taking core game mechanics and modernizing them in the best way possible. Rockstar's brilliant writing never seems to disappoint and reprising James McCaffrey's voice and inserting his face as Max is just the cherry on top. This game truly feels like Rockstar's love letter to the Max Payne franchise while not being afraid to give it that unmistakable Rockstar touch. There are some minor glitches but I think it's just the game being old. Overall not a bad way to end that chapter of the Max Payne series.
fun good game payne to the max
what have i got to lose apart from the weight
the game is basically a story of a grumpy old man swearing, bitching, whining and blowing things off for a straight 15 hours (on Hard mode). loved the script: for all 14 chapters the bastard fucks everything up but is totally convinced he's doing a great job. it's essentially the dunning kruger effect in gaming and i can't think of anything else quite like it.
also, let’s be frank: this isn’t the Max Payne from Remedy's games. but somehow, he uses Raymond Chandler’s (Dashiell Hammett's? Mickey Spillane's?) vocabulary even better than Max did in the older entries, despite most of the game being set under the scorching sun of Sao Paulo, not in the noirish american anything.
the game plays smoothly, looks great (for a 13 y. o. game), and sounds pretty amazing, too (thanks to the band HEALTH). what else do you need?
I dunno what Rockstar said or did, but this game is probably 100% responsible for Health shifting away from noise rock, and embracing cum metal/sad music for horny people.
And I'm very grateful for it!
Max Payne 3 is such a great game. The story is amazing and on PC you still have the multiplayer aspect which is so fun! I would highly recommend you buy this game.
This game is absolutely amazing, for me it falls into a subsection of games which I only play once or twice (like hotline Miami and Darkwood), but they stick with me forever and I still continue searching for something to continue the feeling I got from playing the games. I still need to go back and play the original games, but this is a game which will forever be one I remember
I've heard people say that Max Payne 3 is the worst game in the series. But I can't agree with that.
While the first and second games have an incredible dark atmosphere, the third one takes us to sunny São Paulo with an older Max Payne, addicted to painkillers and alcohol. This was the first thing that disappointed some fans, so it really depends on personal preferences. Personally, I was completely satisfied with the atmosphere, but I admit it's quite a big change. However, one thing that might please fans is that we do revisit snowy New York in a few levels through flashbacks. There aren’t many of these levels, but they’re a nice touch.
The story is a typical B action movie, it won’t blow you away, but it’s not bad either. Max works as a personal bodyguard for a wealthy family, but there are a few plot twists along the way, and I think they’re quite unpredictable.
The game made huge progress in terms of graphics and gameplay, which is understandable since there’s a 9-year gap between the second and third games. What completely blew me away was the ragdoll system, as expected from Rockstar. Simply put, the gameplay is excellent, almost perfect, and it goes hand in hand with the absolutely fantastic graphics for old time.
As a player who loves story-driven games, I have to say that the story is the one aspect where Max Payne 3 falls a little short. Otherwise, it's an amazing game, but not a perfect one. If the story were better, I’d give it a solid 10/10, but as it stands, I have to go with a 9/10.
Good game for who seek a game with great action and story
Amazing story and gameplay, Graphics still hold up to this day
Rockstar put their story telling and directing skills into this third installment of the the MAX PAYNE Trilogy. And they do not disappoint. Weather you are playing from the first two stories, or just getting into the franchise they keep Max true to pill popping form; And fill in the blanks to his past enough to slide into the nightmare that is Max's life. Still voiced by the Late James McCaffrey (RIP); It's Quite a way to end the series. If you are looking for a story rich action game. This is it.
I dont know wtf was wrong with this game last time i tried to play probably rockstars godawful DRM but
once i got past the god awful rockstar mandatory luancher
its a fucking incredible game i fully recommend it and it seems it runs completely fine on modern systems now!
some of the coolest most kinetic emotional gunfights in video games.
probably the best third person shooter ever (if we're talking pure gameplay) and just one of the best shooting games in general. people often complain about the cutscenes but if you treat is as what it is, a hollywood action movie type game instead of the more noir inspired tone of the first 2 games its still overall incredible
Just an excellent and well rounded game and maybe one of the best 3rd person shooters out there with a story that feels like it's straight from the movies, I feel like Tony Scott was probably a big influence on the game.
Max Payne is such an interesting protagonist, constantly drinking and popping pills, turning any living space into a decrepit shit hole, walking around in dirty creased suits and constantly talking about wanting to die but ultimately being compelled to carry on. Having a constant stream of Max's inner thoughts really help to flesh out his character.
Played on the steam deck which was great.
Only negatives are having to always be online and some of the weapons that switched perspective to first person which doesn't really work imo.
it's good but it doesn't feel anything like any of the previous max payne games. putting max in south america is like putting spider-man in europe, it feels very out of place and doesn't really work.
Amazing game- One of the best TPS ever! The most satisfying shooting experience in gaming. The combat mechanics are flawless, very fluid, thrilling slow-motion gunfights, and a cover system. Every shootout feels intense and rewarding, especially on higher difficulties, making it a top-tier third person shooter.
The only downside is the excessive cutscenes, which can interrupt the flow when replaying sections. But this small flaw doesn't take away from the game's greatness. Highly recommended! 8.5/10 just because cutscenes, and replayability, otherwise it would be 10/10 TPS expirience.
This game runs as good as Stephen Hawking on lithium.
It took me 7 hours to finish main story. It was a good time.
Supports linking to steam account... That is a LIE. It used to be that if you already had a steam account, that would be enough, but times change, the linking to steam account works for Ubisoft games! Thanks for turning what should be a fun game experience into a nightmare with a game old enough that I cannot get a refund! I hope you go out of business Rockstar!
It is nowhere near to original Max Payne.
What you expect:
- Dark noire game with dark colors and atmosphere.
- Deep and interesting detective & action story
What you get:
- Mediocre GTA-like Miami yellow color action game.
- Primitive story without anything deep, just shoot and go.
- Hell of a count of redundant cutscenes which you want to skip from the half of the game.
Impression is that authors didn't know about original Max Payne style and story and just wanted to make some random action game. Nothing left from Max Payne, honestly.
Unplayable, principally because the mouse sensitivity controls are shot to hell. Reached a scene where you basically need perfect aim to finish it, but granularity of the aim controls is so poor that you cannot place the reticle where you need to. Was this a console port? Inexcusable.
Truly an iconic experience. If you have yet to play this, you are doing yourself a disservice.
Great story, gamelplay is a bot clunky at times (perspective coming out of cover) but otherwise my favourite game since it came out.
This is a great action game that is short enough to play in one sitting. Movement is a bit clunky and story is a bit odd, but the slow motion diving makes every scene feel like a movie. 8/10
very very very fun game. it has the most polished third person gunplay oat, not even exaggerating.
this game is action packed, my favorite part is the hand to and combat. I
love putting my gun away and beating people up.
See guides on how to change version to remove rockstar launcher, then the game will stop crashing every five two minutes.
I really liked MP1 and 2 but this is my favorite. Maybe because I'm brazilian. Maybe because it has one of the best gameplay mechanics for a third-person-shooter ever made.
DONT buy this game on pc. Rockstar Club is a scam and they will steal from you. I tried recovering my old account and they still had the audacity to say that it is linked to a different account. Its criminal to think they have the rights to restrict access on a game I BOUGHT with my HARD EARNED MONEY. F.. Rockstar
Rockstar is a joke now. Great game but I cant even play the game that i own with their account b*llshit. Make a new one & you ca'nt.
AWESOME awesome awesome game. Very different from the first two games, which i loved, but this was on a totally different level. Im in the early stages of backlog gaming and this game so far is leading my GOY for 2025. Just so much fun. Looks great. Plays great. Story is dark and brutal. The gun play is a blast. Fingers crossed one day for a Max Payne 4.
