Laminar Research releases X-Plane 11.50 final
Laminar Research, creator of the X-Plane flight simulator franchise, is proud to announce the final Vulkan/Metal update of X-Plane 11. After many months of converting our graphics engine and beta testing, we are today announcing the final release of version 11.50 for the X-Plane desktop platform.
Vulkan (PC) and Metal (Mac) are rendering level APIs that change how X-Plane interacts with the graphics card. They are faster than OpenGL that X-Plane has used in the past. Overall, most users will see improved frame rates and reduced stutters when using Vulkan or Metal.
In X-Plane 11.50, there is a check-box in the graphics settings that enables Vulkan or Metal, and a restart of X-Plane is necessary for the change to take effect. If for some reason a user can’t use Vulkan or Metal, OpenGL is still available by simply unchecking the box.
Numerous bug fixes, enhancements, and new airports are also included in this release.

Just bought it for the MD-80, the simulator is a bit old and graphics are dated but the physics are good.
Fun to have short flights, but I had serious frame drop issues on some longer ones.
I can make a plane so fast it will be out of the entire expanding universe in 12 seconds and a plane so small, but with so much mass that it conjures a black hole whenever it exists
amazing over 1200+ hours and is the best sim i can come across!
Fun game to chill or to vomit one of the two :)
Great game. Very realistic particularly with the local Google earth overlay.
Its a good game. Just that it dosent have much airplanes. Especially Airbus! Still a good game. But if you do decide to buy it. WAIT FOR A SALE!
Flown round the country starting at Bangor Maine and returning- mapped it out and followed it touching every state in the USA. Finished the round trip one year to the day I started- landing back in Bangor Maine.
Loved every minute of it and still look through my photo book of screen shots. By the way, I am 69 year old female-still having fun!
does not recognize x52pro hotas. unable to find setup guide for control. should be a plug n play situation just like MSFS but it is not.
Bought this sim during the sale and thought it was worth it. Unfortunately, the default 737 and 747 has bugs and the flying experiencing is horrible.
Also, the fact that it doesn't have a default Airbus aircraft is a bummer, personally.
the best, dosen matter ur rookie or a profesional, that game can give u a lot of pleasure, recomanded <3
My first proper flight sim and it's amazing! The aircrafts, physics, and even the graphics are so well done. Even though my laptop is not that great, the sim runs well even with addons! I recommend this to anyone who can't afford X-Plane 12 and MSFS 2020/2024. Later on I'll probably get X-Plane 12 or MSFS but for right now, this is amazing!
X-Plane has always been my flight simulator of choice and X-Plane 11 delivers as always.
after having the game for a little while all my planes randomly stopped working i uninstalled and reinstalled about 2-3 times and backed up the files and nothing worked if anyone has any suggestions pls tell me
Really good flight simulator, really good physics. This game is the first flight simulator on PC i ever played and Its awesome, atleast an airbus aircraft could be much better (ik theyre now on xplane12). Just one unrealistic thing, when you test lights on the B737 an alarm goes off, its not supposed to go off. Overall, very good flight sim if you wanna buy your first flight simulator. Not very good graphics like MSFS, but very good physics. Recommended 👍
Seems to require a bit of tinkering and 3rd party content to reach a decent state, if it ever does.
Do some research before buying.

X-Plane 11 is not just a flight simulator—it's an experience, a masterpiece of precision and realism that sets the gold standard for aviation enthusiasts. From the moment you take off, you're immersed in an incredibly detailed and demanding environment that rewards skill, patience, and attention to detail.
One of the standout qualities of X-Plane 11 is its **unmatched fidelity**. The flight dynamics are second to none, meticulously simulating every nuance of real-world aerodynamics. Whether you're flying a humble Cessna 172 or a high-performance jet, the level of authenticity feels like you're sitting in the cockpit of a real aircraft. The attention to detail extends to everything from the instrument panels to the weather effects, creating an environment that’s both visually stunning and deeply engaging.
This is not a simulator that holds your hand—it challenges you to learn, adapt, and master the art of flight. Much like Orbiter in the space simulation genre, X-Plane 11 puts realism above all else, making every successful takeoff, landing, and navigation an achievement you can genuinely be proud of.
The world-building is equally impressive. The global scenery is rendered with care, offering a breathtaking view of the Earth from above, complete with dynamic weather and lighting that evolves in real time. The community support is also stellar, with countless mods, plugins, and custom scenery available to expand your experience even further.
For those who seek an aviation simulator that prioritizes precision, depth, and authenticity, X-Plane 11 is unparalleled. It’s more than a game—it’s a journey into the skies. Strap in, power up, and prepare to take your skills to new heights. ✈️
Highly recommended for serious sim pilots and anyone looking to experience the thrill of true flight.
Really good game, I got it on sale and have really enjoyed playing it because I have a flight stick and throttle, The plane models are amazing even when on low graphics settings!
X-Plane 11 is a great flight simulator, which is better than MSFS physics-wise, but is lacking a bit on the graphics. The learning curve can sometimes be a bit high, but once you learn stuff, you won't forget it.
Probably one of the most Favorable Flight Simulators, I’ve ever played, I cannot fault Laminar Research for there Development, least there is no CTD’s, at least they fix the errors on target, and don’t take so long like Asobo Studio’s deployment every week of updates… Well Done Laminar Research… ***** From me.
Just bought this game at the end of 2024 and the sim still holds up great ! The only thing that im annoyed is the sound quality of aircraft but its still good considering the price is just 10$.
On this game's review i see a lot of people complaining about the optimisation but theres the option of vsync in the game setting , you have to disable to to get full fps. I also had issue of fps but when i turned off this setting it gave me stable 60fps even on my decade old rig (gtx 970 , i5 6500. Definitely worth the price even in 2024/2025.
The game gets stuck indefinitely on a Loading screen...
To run the game, you need to pass "--disable_networking" to the executable (which apparently disables anything network-related, possibly even features like fetching real-time weather data from the Internet).
This makes no sense at all and clearly shows that they didn’t even implement a timeout for whatever the game is trying to connect to.
Maybe they even shut down a server that version 11 relied on and now only support it for version 12?
The game also always crashes when closing. Who knows what’s going on...
And the worst part, which led me to request a refund: back in 2012, in an earlier version of X-Plane, I had already contacted the developers to point out that they were using the wrong terrain/texture class to represent urban areas in Brazil. Where there should be a patch of city, there’s just a patch of grass or forest... This completely ruins the immersion in the game.
Twelve years later, they clearly don’t care about this issue (and, by the looks of it, they never will).
I won’t give my money to people who don’t care about fixing such problems.
My flight sim experience is Kerbal Space Program, and I'm much more of a rocket gal myself; picked up X-Plane 11 for $10 buckaboos, and while I'm terrible at this at the moment, I can see the potential for a lot of fun with some tutorials, messing around, and spare time, definitely playing this more and learning. Definitely buy if you want a flight sim and don't already have $50,000 for a real plane to refer to.
This the best game i played it is so real with the world like vibes and the 737 and 747 omg like a chfie kiss
this is the worst plane game and its also my first game that i refunded in 4 minutes, i just fucking hate how stupid the tutorial and controls are
Very good game, it runs smoothly, not to long to download and good in-game settings.
It regognises yokes and joysticks very quickly, enabling you to play with any desired controls, including mouse.
The only downside is, addons make the game a little laggy and delayed, especially if you are using a lower end device. For me personally, my laptop got very hot.
Nice simulator even tho its a little old with default up to date scenery and live weather i would reccomend 10/10
its not that bad at all but its not the best theres a decent amount of planes and flight controls fell amazing i recommend this game!
X-Plane 11 is the game where you can finally live out your dream of becoming a pilot, except your flight plan looks like it was drawn by a blindfolded toddler with a crayon. It’s a hyper-realistic simulator, which means you’ll feel like you’re actually flying—right until your plane randomly decides to turn into a flaming wreck of physics and regret.
Still worth your time if you get it on sale
very good with mods super easy install
9.5/10
Very nice for people who wants to practice aviation. And for future airbus pilots, I recommend the Toliss a319, a320, and a321. They're very nice aircrafts and very nice to use. And it's also a realistic aircraft. I don't really recommend JarDesign because it lacks realism. Even tho it's cheaper, still not worth it. Flight Factor a320 is also nice and realistic. So toliss and flight factor are my recommendations to you guys. Happy flying!
Very heavy on hardware. I can run MSFS2020 much better than XPlane11. ATC is awkward. will keep in store shelf for now.
Fun but landing is impossible without an actual rudder and yoke
It's very realistic, and has a steep learning curve. However, it would be better if it had Steam Workshop support instead of having to use xplane.org. However, all instruments work, high quality textures and great graphics! 8/10!
amazing if you have friends to play the multiplayer with, even solo, theres xpilot, or if ur scared, theres ai aircraft and ai atc, as well as the physics are great, and also good if you have a low end pc, also the plugins from xplane org, alot to choose from, although theres very limited aircrafts, and youhaveto buy others for a good flight deck, but definitely would recommend this game, upped my knowledge about how to pilot a 737,cessna, and the sf50 vision jet.
Great sim and works on low performance pcs, reccomended.
Gameplay was good and realistic, even the cockpit looks great and accurate. It's biggest downside was a lack of planes and multiplayer.
To be honnest, This is an really really Really good flight simulator, no doubt, its literally the next gen of the mobile version X-Plane for mobile, but back to the point, X-plane 11 is really good so, do i recomend it?
Recomended Yes, price is it worth, Second, its a 10 outa 10, no joke, something like this has to deserve it.
is there an option to be able to fly diamond 42 with x plane 11 downloaded from steam on mac OS?
So disappointed. Bought it on special and was really looking forward to playing it, but the inputs are so sensitive that the plane is completely uncontrollable. No solution found online. Refunded.
Purchased to test my flight dynamics code; truly the MATLAB 2022a of flight sims.
This game, it's good. Great graphic. Realistic planes. BUT
bad recording video and
Suvarnabhumi is kind of horrible. It doesn't even similar.
This game 6.5/10
Its a bit hard to fly nothing like announcements but still cool
ig
Its very hard to control on keyboard dont recomend if u dont have a joy-stick.
Brilliant flight simulator. Runs well; great mods; pretty enough; fantastic flight model.
I use exclusively with Space UAV. It worked well at first but I am having some configuration issues now between Space GCS, X-Plane 11 and the AheadX hardware. I expect this will be eventually resolves and still am impressed with the training that this setup can offer.
X-plane 11 is the best plane simulator I've played, there is so many airports and planes and it is fun using joysticks to play too.
great game, zibo 737 is great as well. main thing for me is that it was cheaper than msfs and pmdg
Its just good, great graphics
Very good game I grew up playing, upgrading to XP12 here soon.
