BADLAND: Game of the Year Edition

In the scarce landscape of local coop games, which has only recently started to be filled with the likes of It Takes Two and Split Fiction, Badland remains one of the best (or should i say, one of the only) games that a group of friends can enjoy while hanging out.

I don't understand what people like in this game.

Detailed and Positive Review of "BADLAND: Game of the Year Edition"

This game is very fun when playing the main story mode BUT! i have to warn you, You CANNOT create Levels on the pc version and as of 2023 the online servers are dead meaning the level world is gone. you can still see thumbnails but nothing but the game crashes when opening one.

but if you ignore the online stuff this game is still very fun to play.

The reason for my low play time is due to me mostly playing this game on mobile and i so far have only tested the first few levels and online features.

What is this mobile port, literally inferior in every single way compare to the original...

最后两关一直闪退，通不了关太难受了，最后两关玩了俩小时了，顶着闪退把倒数第二关过了，最后一关那么长，时间根本不够，真恶心。

Really fun and challenging arcadey game with an art style mix of Limbo and Ori. Only problem I have is that the level editor is mobile only, please put it on PC I'd love that so much!

I'm very dissappointed by this game.
I bought this game because it had the "game of the year edition" title. Then I start playing and boy oh boy...was I negatively surprised.

This is a freaking mobile phone game. It was published primarily for mobile phones, then because of the success the developrs decided to publish it for consoles, and lastly, they published it for PC. But it's not a PC game, it's evident in so many things. For example you can see it in the interface, you can see it in the fact that there is no story intro nor any explanation how to play this game.
When you research you find out that Badland was voted game of the year on Apple Store!!! Why the heck would Steam allow such a deceiving title here in the world of PC gaming. Why would something from Apple Store have any relevance in the "serious" gaming world???

Suffice to say that the only keyboard controls for this game are the arrow buttons.
You control a fluffy ball that has to fly through a jungle of obstacles. That's it!!!
There is no skill involved. It's only random flying up and down, left and right until you manage to randomly get through the part where you are supposed to. It's important to say that you fight against the clock in this game. As you fly from left to right you have to be quicker then the environment that is chasing you or you fail.
So it's basically a mindless, chaotic mess where you just try and retry until you randomly get it right.
There are some power ups you can collect that changes the size or consistency of the ball so you have to be quick to catch the power up before the respective obstacle come or you can't pass through.

This is just another game that deceives buyers with cute graphics and a promise of being a relaxing, casual game that you can play between 2 serious games. The reality is opposite. This isn't by any means a relaxing nor a casual game.
It's a very frustrating, boring mess, one of those games that you feel inside you made a mistake buying from minute 1, because it's tedious, not entertaining. After every level you put it down and you can't wait to finish it.
Well, I got to a part where the environment is so dark I can't even see where I should get through. So that is also a critical downfall. It's too dark. Pinpoint precision is often needed, but the keyboard controls are not precize enough ( of course, because it's not made for PC! it's made for mobile phones and consoles!!! ) and also you can't see anything.

I hope to get a refund. I warn all potential buyers. This is a deceiving scam of a game. Most of the people giving good reviews on steam played only the first few levels, and didn't even get to the harder and darker parts. It's ridiculous altogether.

Recommended.

The concept is neat and well executed. Guide your little fluffy critters through a series of death traps. There is enough variety to keep things interesting with lots of power ups/downs that lead to bizarre results. The co-op feature is great too if you want to suffer with a friend. The only downside for me is that you'll likely only do short runs as it can be a bit tedious at times.
