The best game in the series. Psychopaths as mini bosses are great and the overall humor and cheesiness makes it even better!
capped at 30 fps, commands not working, very good game, cant go past tutorial, cant move mouse while running 10/10
Only played for an hour, bear in mind, but honestly feels like any old open world game. Annoying pop ups tell you to find collectibles, and when you get it it's like 1/500 +100 XP! You gained a level! You gained a level!
Then you go out and cut through some zombies (which is good) but then barely make progress because their spawning isn't consistent, meaning the moment you turn around, they all come back (which is bad)
Just play the OG Dead Rising games, but not the 'deluxe remaster'
Good storyline, interesting side missions, a lot of collectibles-my personal favorites were Tragic endings-some of them were sad and some of them just pure black humor. Also very interesting skills tree that will help you a lot as you progress.
Big part of the game is crafting-you can craft a new and pretty crazy weapons and also craft new vehicles-mostly combine 2 of them on the spot for better abilities to get through zombies and also with better durability.
Overal I can't think bad thing on this game, atleast from my prespective and my gameplay-I enjoy it very much.

Very fun! Crafting on the move, killing zombies, many goody combos like usual and also awesome ones. The story is there and its actually pretty solid aswell. I enjoy this one. (I also kinda enjoyed the second and first was a good base)
decent game for cheap on sale.
I did really enjoy the story, characters, and general environment of the game. All of the different weapons are fun to collect and figure out how to craft. I enjoy the skill tree along with the vehicles. But, that's where my list of praise ends. This game just didn't age great in terms of mechanics, and got a pretty bad PC port.
Firstly, the camera is not modular whatsoever, and cannot be adjusted. This gives you a really tight pov and clumsy-feeling turning mechanic; especially with M&K over controller.
Movement is also really frustrating. It feels very cumbersome with your character not seeming to do what you want to very often. Maybe i'm spoiled by games like Dying Light where the premise is based on movement, but I just really didn't enjoy how the movement felt (ie. sprinting, jumping turning, etc).
As before-mentioned, the port is really bad. Gameplay was capped for me at 30 fps (no matter what refresh rate) until i downloaded a .ini file with a command unlimiting frames. Then if you run the game at over 99 fps, there is a bug with scoping in and your inventory that makes the game unplayable. So, to have a somewhat enjoyable PC experience, you need to download a 3rd party file (or make it yourself) and then limit frames to 99 in Nvidia Control Panel or something similar. Kind of annoying to deal with if you just wanna boot up a game and chill, but really isn't too difficult.
The level design is also pretty wack and really tedious sometimes. Getting a vehicle and driving 1000m across the city, getting stuck on hordes of zombies, and then watching your car explode into 20 pieces gets super tiring, especially when you have to do it like 4 times in a row (ahem, chapter 8). The further in the story you progress, the more that zombies spawn (along with different types of zombies) so traversal becomes even more of a pain later on. I think the amount of road blocks and barricades exponentially make it worse as well.
I only did a few side quests, but they're basically all fetch quests from what I can tell. And since i'm not a fan of the traversal, it becomes even less fun. The mini-bosses however are very fun, funny, and unique, so that is an upside.
If you're looking for a decent story you can beat within a few hours, decently fun combat, and a shit ton of blood and zombies, this is a really solid game, especially on sale for ~5 bucks. I didn't try co-op but i'm sure it would make the whole experience a lot better. Would recommend :)
Is it the best game in the franchise? No. But it isn't terrible and for a couple of bucks id say its worth it
While I had a bad first-time experience, overtime I overpassed that to finally get it to 100%.
I kind of see why people refer to this Dead Rising as the "Black Sheep" or "Non-Canon" of the franchise...
Dead Rising 3

Dead Rising 3 comes into the franchise swinging. Bringing new game mechanics, weapons, vehicles and a new map to swing your favourite blade through. Are all of these changes for the better? Will this move the franchise into a new direction? Or do these changes highlight cracks in the franchise? We’ll answer those questions, and more, right after these messages…
As a new player who has never experienced the franchise before is it easy to learn, understand the story, or are we left in a lurch to be eaten by the horde? Will we be accosted by the infamous curving frying pan?
Story
DR3 takes place a decade after Fortunes End in DR2. Bring a new cast of characters for me to compare to cardboard. The overall story of DR3 is kind of jarring. Take Nick for example. Nick starts as wimpy, whiny and cowardly in all the ways we hate. Then, two days later, he’s standing up to the entire military. The whole story flows like that, just jumps around and boom it’s over.
Nicky boy starts out in an abandoned underground with hordes of zombies, do we know why he is there? How he ended up unconscious? No, and it will never be answered. The story is about as clear as the maps direction system, all over the place. The ending seems anti-climactic, the credits roll and wait? A cut scene after the cut scene? That would have been more useful if it were incorporated earlier on to add tension.
Characters
Rhonda and Gary were my favourite. Everyone else, outside the Sins, is either jarring or just boring. I liked other characters but they felt wasted. Even Rhonda and Gary felt off at times, but they were the most consistent. The last mission does drag a little and highlights some problems I’ll address later on. I don’t have any else to add here… So how about a word from our sponsor?
It was initially hard to figure out who the main antagonist was as they only show up at the very end of the game. Rhonda and Gary definitely had the most personality, everyone else felt like a soggy piece of cereal that’s been in the bowl too long; sure, it’s the right shape, but it doesn’t taste as good. I personally liked some of the psychopaths more than the main characters themselves. Jerii and Dylan gave me a good laugh and cringe. They also had more motivations and quirks than the main cast.
Gameplay
Killing Zombies gets better every game. With the new weapons, skill system and sheer brutality; DR3 stands proud among its predecessors. Bringing in a new crafting system would’ve been a tough decision. To remove the workbench and allow you to craft combos on the spot makes the game far easier but also allows the game to have the larger map that DR3 has. I do think that perhaps the new Super Combos and Scratch Cards should’ve required a workbench to balance that new crafting system. This comes with the new blueprint system. I like disconnecting the combos from levels for more than one reason. Removing RNG being the main one. Now onto our first contestant!
It’s me! Scarlett, your first contestant, here to give you the what’s up! The game never actually explains how to drop off your survivors, which resulted in mine… Dead. Sorry guys. Also, the destination system is very vague to say the least, you get the general direction, that is it, which means I spent over one and a half hours lost, just running around.
Psychopaths & Survivors
Survivors are done well, each having a little side quest with plenty of PP. The Psychopaths are both good and not; The Seven Deadly Sins being the best. This doesn’t change that some are far too easy and others (Sloth in particular) was just annoying. There was far less Psychopaths in DR3 than DR2 or OTR and I think that’s a big point with fans of the franchise.
Travel and Vehicles
We have a larger map? So large you need cars to travel? How does that integrate into the game?
Not well. Cars (even the combo cars) are destroyed far too easily and often won’t make it to your destination. You will either blow it up or there’ll be a road block that’s easier to jump over than drive a full loop of the map to get to. These made the last mission an absolute nightmare as you have to keep looping around the map. The size however does make the world fill empty. Lots of voids that were obviously filled with zombies to make it seem less empty. This is the weakest part overall for me. Not what pissed me right off though. Not even close…
If you happened to be as bad at controlling them as I was, sprinting everywhere did in fact take less time.
Multiplayer
This is the first time I played DR with a friend. This adds a lot to the game and I would recommend it. But it’s not critical to experiencing the game. I played with Scarlett and, ignoring the friendly fire, I found myself messing around more than when I played Solo. Scarlett however hasn’t played any DR game before this (only proof read my previous two reviews). This gave Scarlett the opportunity to experience the game on its own; No over hanging predecessor. Let’s check in on our new on-site reporter! How’s the weather down there, Scarlett?
Thanks Ody, it’s raining Zombies down here. As you can see behind us (Gestures to maniacs killing zombies), multiplayer really adds a fun aspect to the game, allowing you and a friend to both goof around and for a new player to get a taste for a game they might not have otherwise tried. This was a fun experience and probably the best way to be introduced to the game with a buddy to teach me.
Back to you Ody.
The Weird, The Funny and The Annoying… Bugs
This was the buggiest DR I’ve played yet. I’ll let Scarlett discuss the funny bugs. Now is the time for the most frustrating bug I’ve ever experienced. Here we are… Last mission. Scarlett and I have just figured out how to do the objective. We might have lost the first time but we knew what we were doing the second time. I skipped the cutscene and… I broke it. I could not do damage, take damage, open the map, interact with survivors or just be helpful. I could drive but not hit zombies. This was made worse by it carrying over into the final boss fight. Where Scarlett died, and I couldn’t do anything. I had to alt+F4 to get out of the game and retry. Unfortunately, this meant Scarlett couldn’t join me again as I was immediately in the boss fight. That experience almost brought this game a negative review. Now… DRAW
(Pulls knife) Ah, it seems I’ve brought a knife to a gun fight. On the note of weapons glitches, mine would just disappear out of my hands, I didn’t need to be grabbed, I would just be standing still and then it would just reappear a second later. Fabulous. Not so fabulous in the horde when you had to start punching because your weapon would disappear into the void for a few moments before deciding it existed again. Our next bug occurred when we went to fight our childhood bestie Diego. Sometimes our friends need a good slap you know, remind them what’s good. Every time we would try to run across the room we would teleport back or across, but never to where we needed to be. It was frustrating in the least.
Conclusion
Ody:
Dead Rising 3 is a good addition to the DR formula that’s only held back by a weak story and a few bugs.
Scarlett:
As an introduction to the franchise, I had a lot of fun, even as someone not fussed on zombie games. I nickname it Fashion Rising 3 (Puts on Disco outfit).
DR3 is a fun experience made better with a friend. In some ways it outshines its predecessors and others it falls behind. I will remember it more fondly than the last two but you can see it is trying build off of the same foundation and try to create a unique experience and it certainly does.
I’m taking a break from the Dead Rising franchise for a bit but will be back to review DR4 and look back on previous games. Until then…
May Your Travels Lead You to Warm Sands Friend,
Ody & Scarlett
Had Issues at first with the FPS at first but by far a fun enjoyable game with lots of combo weapons and vehicles, story was great and fun but the bosses were fun to beat and there's a good selection of costumes to wear and funny hats to wear.
Overall really fun game if you are looking for a casual way to take down hordes of zombies in the most creative, brutal and weirdies way possible while with a nice fresh costume.
I’ve played through Dead Rising 3 now 5 or 6 times over multiple years and it really stretches what I’d consider to be a Dead Rising game. I wouldn’t say it’s boring, having just played the series through, that award definitely goes to Dead Rising 4, but this one also isn’t very exciting. I’ll get into more details, but to me it feels like a lot of what made the prior 2 games interesting is missing here.
So first and foremost I need to talk about the map. When this game was announced one of the things they boasted was that this was the biggest map in Dead Rising history (at the time). While this was true, something was lost in the process and that’s the actual content of the map. The thing about Dead Rising 3 is that it does indeed bring a larger map, sort of, but it’s one that completely lacks what made the Willamette Mall and Fortune City interesting, and that the fact that everything on it was accessible. In the previous 2 games if you saw a store, restaurant, casino, etc. you could go inside it, every single one. In Dead Rising 3 there’s a lot more buildings, but they suffer from a plague of inaccessible doors. Only specifically placed stores can be entered and these are scattered around the map; it really makes the world feel generic because we see this all too often with larger maps. Something I really don’t like too is that this “bigger map” doesn’t actually feel bigger. Los Perdidos isn’t one large, continuous area that you can run and drive around, rather it’s 4 distinct sections that are connected through highways. Yeah, technically it’s bigger but all they’ve done is replace dedicated loading screens with stretches of highway instead. It’s annoying because navigating the roads can be a pain and ultimately you waste more time than a loading screen would’ve. For me part of the charm of Dead Rising was that it was providing a smaller environment, but it was a well crafted one that had more to offer than the larger, empty worlds that many games provide. Dead Rising 3 goes back on that and instead goes the route of quantity over quality; even introducing the collectathon you see in open world games with useless collectibles like Frank West statues and tragic endings providing an extra checklist. Something very apparent in Dead Rising 3 too is that the color has been washed out of everything. The general color palette of this game reminds me more of something like a Gears of War game than Dead Rising. The previous 2 games were colorful and vibrant while Dead Rising 3 is bleak. It’s like too many apocalypse setting where everything’s just grey and dull.
The new gimmick to go along with the bigger map is combo vehicles, and you’d think they help traverse the world, but they really don’t. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind it was but the roads are packed with various roadblocks that will force you to abandon your vehicle and leg it. The things honestly just aren’t very fun to use too, and some like the Party Slapper feel like you’re driving on ice. There’s no incentive to use them too, the PP you lose from taking a regular vehicle is negligible at best since you can’t build a kill streak in one.
Now, let’s talk about combo weapons. I feel like they’ve really lost their charm in this game. I absolutely loved them in Dead Rising 2 because even though they had varying degrees of usefulness they were all fun. Part of that fun for me is that they looks liked silly jury rigged weapons. Multiple of the combo cards were the result of Chuck looking at movie posters and getting an idea for a weapon; which was really the spirit of them for me. They felt like you gave a guy a roll of duct tape, some junk, and told him to try making something. Now in Dead Rising 3 not is the discovery of these blueprints reduced to a marked collectathon around the map, you also can no longer guess a combo and receive a scratch card. Every combo weapon requires you to pick up the blueprint first in order to craft it which slows down the game and just isn’t as fun in my opinion. The combo weapons just feel over-designed now too, multiple of them feel like you’d need a whole workshop to be making them. The combo weapons in Dead Rising 2 had a beauty in the simplicity of them that’s lost in Dead Rising 3. I should also quickly mention that some of these combo weapons have a bunch of additional versions that are totally unnecessary. Like seriously, who looked at the Freedom Bear in Dead Rising 2 and said, “Yeah, we need 8 different variations of that.”?
They put more emphasis on the story in this game, which I don’t mind, but it’s also just not super memorable. The story in all these games have plot holes, but it’s harder to overlook the stupidity of some characters’ actions at times. Prime example for me, why are we painting a plane first when we know it’s missing parts and we haven’t located them yet? You can enjoy it more if you don’t ask questions, but asking you to do so is like an insult to the player’s intelligence.
I’ll touch on Nick quickly too. I don’t mind him, but I don’t like him as much as Frank or Chuck. They continued the approach of the main character being a cross between an average joe and a tough guy, but Nick reacts to things much more strongly than Frank or Chuck. The best way I can describe it is that he feels more amateur than Frank and Chuck. To an extent this makes sense, Frank had covered wars and Chuck had been through an outbreak prior to Fortune City; I wouldn’t expect either of them to be freaking out. Nick’s younger than both of them and has no known experience in a situation like this, so his shock and terror makes sense, but the amount he seems to shout “Oh my god!” and generally get freaked out is jarring. I think there was a missed opportunity here though because it could’ve been great if Nick started out very freaked out but started to sound more confident with each case file you complete. That’s just never the case though, he freaks out just as much at the beginning of the game as he does at the end.
Now, let’s talk about the psychos. I’m going to be honest here and say that psychos are lukewarm at best. I think what made the psychos of older Dead Rising games interesting is they felt like they started with a normal person and tried to come up with how they’d act when pushed to their limit in terms of stress. In Dead Rising 3 it feels like they did the opposite, where they came up with an idea for a crazy person and then tried to walk back and figure out regular type of person to connect it to. None of them are really memorable aside from maybe Hunter, the biker gang leader, because he doesn’t feel so exaggerated.
What about survivors? Well, the changes to the scale of the map and resulting many safe house means escort mission are no more. Rescuing a survivor now consists of completing a busy work task for them, usually a fetch quest, and then they’re saved and will tag along with you. There’s no need to take them to a safe house to get the PP bonus and if you want you can just lead them to their death after saving them, there’s no consequence for their death after a rescue. You can keep them around as teammates if you want, but I find this mechanic odd since they’re strong enough to fight and yet needed you to rescue them. There’s also radiant quest survivors that just appear on top of something surrounded by zombies. You clear the zombies and they thank you before running away, honestly pretty boring.
It’s really not a bad game at the end of the day, and I wish I could rate neutral, but it’s lost a lot of the Dead Rising identity in the pursuit of providing a bigger zombie killing sandbox. I really wish they’d just carried over the Sandbox Mode from Dead Rising 2: Off the Record since it provides a fun option for more casual players who just want to roam and kill, while allowing for the difficulty and tension fans are accustomed to. In the end, I’d skip this one unless your main interest is in a zombie killing sandbox.
IF you can deal with your Progress just. vanishing every now & again........................ TRY IT OUT :D
Was going to leave a good review after 3 days of grinding, but alas.. Fuck me and my progression. 86k Kills all for nothing.
It seems very wrong to give this game a negative review, given that the technical quality of the product is obviously very high.
Coming from a run of the 2006 original, in contrast, the leap in quality is simply absurd.
Animations are faster, more impactful, more diverse and much more fun to watch.
Combat offers a certain degree of added depth, even if it still retains the original's core simplicity.
You can run now. And climb things. And use useful special attacks that don't completely lock down your character.
Dodge is no longer a useless move.
The survivors' AI isn't an infuriating thing anymore, and as far as I've seen, escort missions aren't a thing in this game. They have been replaced by the much more palatable multiphase fetch quests (Lovely).
Crafting options have been tripled, with massive amounts of unbelievably ridiculous weapon options always readily available wherever you go.
Driving and shooting, despite still being mediocre, is no longer the worst thing on the planet and comes with the aforementioned and very welcome variety.
Access to healing items and escaping enemy grabs has been made much easier.
It has never been more affordable to tear apart entire crowds of zombies.
And these crowds were increased to a unbelievable scale. You encounter hundreds, if not thousands of them with every step you take.
Human enemies, still completely insane and very memorable, this time have consistent movesets and are not hideous damage sponges.
And along with that, convenient additions like checkpoints and wide access to a variety of useful items in any arena in which these fights take place.
Navigation was expanded to accommodate the game's larger scale, offering a modestly sized open world rather than the self-contained shopping mal. Now you have a city with multiple districts, with verticality and a much larger number of optional objectives.
Also the level of detail in the scenarios does not seem to have decreased.
And the story still follows the same serious and straight tone, contrasting with the dry humor that emerges from the insane situations that are happening or the simple ridiculous outfit that the player decided to put on.
The dialogue and interpretations seemed slightly more natural to me, given that the team this time was Canadian.
And I could notice some crumbs of social commentary, just like in the first one.
Sound and music also leave little to be desired.
Everything in general is extremely intuitive, readable and easy to pick up.
Anyway, with all this, it's clear to me that Dead Rising 3 is an competent and polished product. A complete and conceptual evolution of everything presented in previous games, without having any of the defects attached.
Technically it's exactly what I wanted.
But after a few hours, somehow the game turns into a mind-numbing experience.
It seems to me that the absence of a tighter structure and precise limitations, such as manual saves, specific items located in specific locations (especially the strongest ones) and enemies that, although always relatively easy to face, represented some kind of constant threat, simply made Dead Rising 3 boring.
You can "overcome" some of these "problems" by playing on specific difficulties, but the base experience is simply very dull.
The open world, despite being beautiful, doesn't add much to the game other than distracting from the original's tight sense of pace, facilitating a constant loss of focus and, being very large (in relation to the mall), robs you of the possibility of simply memorize the layout of the place and know where is what in an organic way.
It's clear that with the constant harassment from the zombies, I won't learn where anything is. You barely have time to breathe and understand where you are going. You just follow the marker.
Which even if I learned, it wouldn't have any practical function, since access to any type of super powerful weapons are available anywhere you go.
Hordes are harmless, because in addition to reduced damage and making it easier to escape from grabs, you are always fully well equipped and full of options to grind everything you see in front of you. And you never have to worry about healing items.
It's as if the focus has been completely diverted to the activity of killing zombies and not avoiding them in a variety of ways.
Before hordes of zombies represent some degree of danger. You avoided unnecessary risks, planned for more dangerous parts and capitalized on opportunities that offered good rewards. You had an incentive to mix things up tactically.
You can pretend to do all of this in 3, but there's no good reason to do so.
I'm sure no one who played the first one thought it was a good idea to walk around the mall without at least one backup healing item, since they're not accessible anywhere. Here things are so simple and so easy, that the notion of planning has been completely thrown out of the window.
Killing zombies has never been as fun as in this game, but at the same time, it has never been so banal. There was a sense of structure and a meaningful progression. Now you just have a mindless and tedious grind.
In less than two hours, the body count was already in the thousands. I didn't feel like I had climbed any steps in anything.
See how in DR1, you start with a handful of enemies and little health, being careful not to be killed and lose progress. And at the end, when the game's difficulty reaches its peak, gigantic hordes that make any crossing dangerous begin to appear and clog the mall's corridors, but despite this, you are stronger, full of new habilities and armed to the teeth with the best weapons in the game.
THAT was interesting. In 3 it's as if I started at the end of the game, without having to go through my character's evolution. They facilitated the fun, made technically excellent, but killed the experience.
I've waited years to play this game and now I'm not sure if I'll continue. It's frankly a little disappointing. So i really don't recommend the game to anyone who enjoyed what the first two games delivered.
super fun time, glad it's not stuck on the xbox one cuz this is a blast with friends, might get a bit frustrating at first with cars breaking quickly and the entire map filling with enemies and the map layout being a bit weird but when you get into the groove it's just a whale of a time with all the weapon and vehicle blueprints and the side missions being a solid gameplay loop
9/10 very good game. Interesting mechanics, fun bosses, optional bosses, very fun game. The story was great too, and overall i definitely enjoyed this one
The Game is Great i Remember watching Vannos and H2O delirious play this game when i was younger and now that i'm playing its very nostalgic and is just so good can't say that about the 4th game

Co op is only with 1 other player ... really stupid ... in the 90's we had games we already could play with a lot of people in co op ...
I don't recommend this game !! .... Don't get fooled by those devs ... it's not worthy to call it co op.
Great game, really fun.
I have to say though, the closer you're getting to the end the harder the game is, which is how most of the games work, that's fine. But, the last 2 chapters are getting quite ridiculous as you have more zombies in the street than the entire population of the city...and it's mostly badass which take forever to be filled but you certainly don't have better loot so it's getting a bit frustrating.
I like having access to lockers to get weapons here and there, but it's limited to maybe 10 weapons for the entire game, like really...?!
I enjoy Deadrising 3. The gameplay is not as refined or focused as earlier entries, and the visuals, characters, and story are not quite as compelling as I would like for them to be. But the silly weapon combos, fun zombie slaying techniques, and good amount/variety in objectives, missions, and collectibles mean that there is a lot to enjoy and explore here. And I particularly enjoy some of the later parts of the story that connect this game into the larger narrative of the series.
Unfortunately, there is a noticeable layer of bugginess here that is not exactly charming. Rarely anything game-breaking or significant, but lots of little bugs: items in the world failing to load in properly, loading screens displaying incorrect player stats, the "vehicle indestructibility" perk failing to apply correctly, unsightly pop-in, strange boss AI, occasional illogical item physics behavior, etc.
However, I did encounter one major bug: my entire character progress was inexplicably lost after about 45 hours of play. Bizarrely, I could still load into a save profile that had my story progress at chapter 4 of the main story, but everything else about my character and my players stats were reset to zero with no explanation. In a game about leveling up, collecting items, and reaching big zombie slaying milestones, this was a devastating and fatal bug. I would have written this off as some bad luck. But the more that I have looked into this bug, the more that I have come to see that this is... actually a somewhat common bug.
That is inexcusable.
I can and will defend Deadrising 3 as a fun romp and solid installment in the larger series. But given that there is a severe, known (it appears that this was a known issue back in 2014???) and common bug causing the loss of entire player profile progress and the developer seemingly never addressed the issue - I cannot in good conscience recommend a purchase here.
If you do play, by all means, enjoy! But know that at almost any moment, this game may revert your progress back to square one, with no warning and little-to-no way to avoid or fix the issue.
I have to say: this has been a frustrating and disappointing end to an otherwise mostly positive and fun experience with Deadrising 3.
On its own Dead Rising 3 is a average zombie game, but compared to Dead Rising 1 and 2 its an absolute downgrade.
Gone are the vibrant colors of first two games, replaced by a mix of grey and a dull mix of red and yellow, gone are any likable characters (apart from Gary), and gone is the tight well made time focused gameplay of the first two, sure there is a timer (In hardcore mode) but even that felt like an afterthought, never once when playing 3 did i feel an urgency caused by the timer, it was always just there.
Speaking of the gameplay, 3 decides to switch it up a bit from its predecessors by focusing on a more vehicle based open world, with cars being littered around this new city even being able to combine certain vehicles. Surely this would make for a fun, high-octane style of gameplay right?, well im sure it would be if they didnt put some sort of blockade on every, single, road, you get a couple minutes tops of the admittedly fun driving before you are forced to get out and walk.
Well at least the map is bigger right? i mean bigger map means more to explore right? wrong again, where as in the first two it felt like almost every store, every room in the mall had some sort of purpose, in 3 the map is made uselessly bigger, a large amount of buildings cant be entered and even the ones that can are usually devoid of personality.
There is a lot more i could rant about but ill bring it to a close with this, 5/10 max. The overtime earns it quite a few points in my eyes but if i could go back and refund this game i would.
Dead Rising 3 is the easiest game in the series, not that it's a bad thing, as it's still a hell of a lotta fun.
Also you have to change the 30fps lock to 60 in the game's directory. Classic Capcom, gold star.
It's fun, but it's not a dead rising game. The story is meh, the main character Nick Ramos doesn't really have a personality compared to Frank or Chuck, and the game's weird performance issues due to microsuck's xbox exclusivity and capcom vancouver's monkey coding is weird and annoying to deal with. The gameplay compared to 1 and 2 feels very clunky and "locked in". If you're not in the perfect position to do certain things, you're gonna flail around like a headless zombie.
But it's fun.
Get on a heavy sale. I suggest external websites if you really need. I don't believe this game is worth more than $5.
Fun Zombo game, that still holds up, also theres a lot of funny hats
This game is absolutely amazing. Stands up so well in 2024. HIGHLY recommend if you have beaten DR and DR2! The game stands to give me at least 100 hours. Time to grind!
By the third game in the series you can really see the decay in the Dead Rising franchise, this game is decent enough and can be played with a friend but it isn't nearly as good as the original game.
To make the city feel larger the game has a highway system the you will frequently have to traverse, making vehicle usage mandatory compared to prior games where vehicles almost feel like an afterthought with how little use they can see.
The Story is pretty far out there (which is nothing new for DR games) but is ultimately boring.
I only really recommend as there is no 'neutral' option and the game isn't really that bad, a more detailed way to rate games outside of yes or no would do wonders for steam reviewing.
Although not as charming as its previous titles, Dead Rising 3 manages to be in my opinion a solid finale to a trilogy.. We do not talk about the sequel.. But I can highly recommend this if you just like killing lots of zombies or want to see where things went after Dead Rising 2 / Case West, people may have their complaints but I am glad they did not leave many loose ends.
what kind of game requires you to youtube 2 problems just before starting the game??
1. increase fps deadrising 3
2. Fix Aiming and inventory issue
dev pls do smth?
10/10 Very Fun game. Story isn't half bad but it could be better. Character's are great! The main character Nick is far my best and favourite character in dead rising series. Give this a try if you like zombie games/movies. I highly recommend it.
didnt get to play this when it came out with the xbox one and it doesnt have the mall vibe like the others but it still works and is a great game I say play it
The turning point where Dead Rising became "a zombie killing game". It's not awful, but it's painfully mediocre with a bad port to boot.
If you enjoyed the concept of Dead Rising, but DR1 and DR2 didn't quite appeal to you, DR3 could be the solution. It's more intuitive, easier to learn, and just plain fun. The difficulty level is relatively low, but it captures the feel of Dead Rising.
Dead Rising 3 has switched it up a bit for both better and worse.
The gameplay is very different, Survivors are not like how they used to be, the weapon lockers make this game easy!
The skill tree is cool but to be honest it looses me it doesn't feel like Dead Rising.
The Combo Vehicles are cool but that's about it for the good new features.
HOWEVER! The story of this game is directly connected to both DR1 and DR2. It ties it all together nicely and puts a bow on it!
Nick is a cool MC and I think the game is alright I just wish it felt like older titles.
8/10
as much as i want to like this game, this port makes it unplayable and unfun
great Combat, weapons and vehicles that can be upgraded.
would recommend this game as well as the others in Deadrising series..
This one has the feel of the movies.
Crafting is easier than previous titles and the NPC systems way better.
Its alright not my favorite in the series The combo vehicle's and the idea of psychopaths being based on the 7 deadly sins were pretty cool. The ability to make combo weapons and food where ever I go was cool as well. But some of the problems/complaints I have is the overall environment Dr1 and Dr2 took place in a mall and casino city and was bright with colors while Dr3 was lacking a little bit and the Zombies got steroids Overall not the best in the series but alr ( buy it on sale I wouldn't waste $29.99 on it)
most under appreciated one. good story but not the best protag. fun time. 7.5/10
i personally regret buying this game although i basically got it for free off G2A I still regret buying it it is so boring, too open world to the point the traveling system feels too slow, there also alot of obstacles in your way to make driving a car feel pointless as it would get put out of commission fairly quickly and the system to just do anything really is tedious and feels too much of a hassle to deal with but again this is my opinion and if you prefer the classic dead rising 1 and 2 i would deter you from getting this game as it is not how the first 2 Dead Rising games would normally have you take place in
The game runs at 30 fps and if u managed to uncap the fps u aren't even able to progress by combining the items
I really want to like this game, I played Dead Rising 1, 2, Off the Record, and all the little expansions besides to the point of 100%ing DR1 and nearly DR2. Took years to play this game and after giving it a shot it just doesn't feel quite right. It's got the bones of Dead Rising but between the map being too large, a grittier story, and a larger focus on vehicles it just loses some of the charm that the other games had.
It's got good things about it still, if I could I'd totally give it a 7/10 but compared to the other games it just simply falls short
Deleted my save file for story mode unexpectedly. no backups available. not even worth buying while discounted.
from what i know this is the only open world large scale map with multiplayer where u can do the story with ur bros and not to mention this game is silly af i love it i mean ffs in what other game can you make a certain weapon via combineing massager and leaf blower if ykyk and makeing a fucking flameing scythe i fucking love this also this game is worth it even off sale
first off let me say Dead Rising 3 is a phenomenal game, but getting this game to work properly on PC is an absolute chore
DR3 is locked to 30 FPS on pc and there is zero way to change this in game bc "the game was optimized and developed for 30 fps". so you have to go into your games files and create a User.ini notepad document to force it to run unlocked
now, next task, bc the game doesn't really like it when you do this. anything over 60 FPS will cause the game to go into seizure mode every time you aim. so then you have to either make sure your pc is running 60 hz using nvidia control panel or set the resolution in game to 60 hz and turn on Vsync
do some research and you can get a better tutorial on how to do all of this just know its a big pain in the ass
that being said, love this game so it was worth it for me. to someone who is just playing this for the first time i'm not sure i would recommend it. only buy if you have the nostalgia for it or you reaaaallly want to try this game bad lol
I have this on Xbox, but the last time I tried it on PC, something was very wrong. Can't remember what, just that it made me refund the game. Well, it's crazy cheap, so time to try again. I'm on a much nicer rig now, and with the User.ini fix, along with AMD Chill, I can get a perfect 60 fps at 4k, maxed out. It is far better than the Xbox version, with zero issues so far.
Highly recommend if you can get it to run. I'm a blasphemous heathen because I hated DR 1 and 2 (way too boring to me), but this is peak Dead Rising imo. I quite like it.
sure... runs at 30fps and its one of the crappy XBONE ports of its time... but the game is fun. get it on a sale
I'm really tired of the zombie genre but I've had a lot of fun with this game. It's not perfect but it is fun. I would recommend it over most zombie games I've played.
I would not recommend since I lost my progress due to a DLC glitch Capcom to this day refuses to fix. Its a shame because the game is relatively fun.
Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition is a gripping, darker iteration of the series, offering a fresh and intense experience while maintaining the franchise's signature blend of humor and horror. The vastly expanded maps are a game-changer, providing an almost Grand Theft Auto-esque sense of freedom and exploration. Los Perdidos is a thrilling playground, filled with terrifying enemies, witty writing, and addictive combat. With its rich atmosphere, clever level design, and sheer scale, Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition is an absolute must-play for fans of the series and open-world enthusiasts alike.
Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games of its era;
Dead Rising 3 is the worst game I've ever played through.
Everything is a downgrade from the previous entries, from the gameplay to the story, passing by the acting and the programming. The psychos are uninteresting, just like all the characters, and fighting them is neither rewarding or fun. The writing doesn't make sense, and it brings nothing of value to the franchise's lore; just read up on it if that's what you're curious about.
I lost all my character progress after finishing the main game, and a DLC side-story, which you usually keep in-between runs, and I only had one level left to gain before maxing out. This means losing all moves, health upgrades, cars, and weapon schematics.
DR3 has no redeeming qualities, and I couldn't recommend it to anyone
the game has fps issues, the camera shake is unbearable and cant be disabled, the aiming doesn't work, the graphics on the pc version are worse than in dead rising one when it first came out, there is a 1-2 second delay on all input and it isn't even lag it seems to be implemented in the game. sometimes sprinting or jumping just doesn't work its about a 50-50 chance. i tried changing resolution turning off v sync changing sensitivity etc. nothing helped...
needless to say it is unplayable. got to play the first 5 minutes then spent the other 60 searching how to fix the game and never got to a permanent solution that doesn't mess something else up in the process. basically the game needs to be finished; some features are half scripted and other make the game much worse. you would need to be a real die hard fan to even attempt to finish this game on the pc version. even for 5$ this game needs a refund.
