Story
Sensing that an apocalyptic war was imminent, the United Nations executed a last ditch plan to save what they could of the human race. 2 crafts were launched, a massive colony ship called the Hephaestus and a smaller, faster scout ship called the Hermes. The destination was a recently discovered earth-like planet with the potential to harbor life located roughly 18 light years away. The Hermes reached the planet first in order to establish a presence in anticipation of the arrival of the Hephaestus.4 years later, as the Hephaestus approached its destination a faint signal was detected from a nearby asteroid. Against their better judgement, the crew of the Hephaestus decided to investigate, and in doing so set in motion a chain of events that would ultimately lead to their destruction.
The good news is, you managed to survive by hitching a ride on a small escape pod just in the nick of time. The bad news is, everyone you knew and loved is dead, you have nothing but the clothes on your back, a standard issue multi-function wrist laser and a faulty artificial intelligence companion named AGIS. Oh, and the human race is probably doomed.

Current State of Development
Signs of Life is currently in Alpha. We feel like we've put together a fun, satisfying experience that will allow us to get wider feedback while we complete the rest of the game.Right now our first priority is making sure that the content we have in-game is as bug-free, balanced, polished and fun as possible based on feedback from you folks. We have a significant prologue/tutorial planned, as well as significant content beyond what is currently playable, so the sooner you get involved the more of an effect you'll have on the final game. We deal in hard science, and in working very closely with our personal science advisor at Sweet Dog Studios, that tends to lead to results.
We are still very much in development, and we would like you to join us in shaping the game from here on out. Your feedback is vital to us, so don't be shy =)

- Some sound effects are missing, but we are actively working on filling them in.

Abandoned on EA
I reported some issues I was having and a few bugs I'd noticed to the developer on the Discord, and while they were very interactive there, and it definitely seemed like the next update was right around the corner.... that was more than a year ago.
Since then, there has been no updates made to the game. The developer is still active, and from what I understand there are several financial reasons they cannot continue active development, but with the game in the state it currently is, I cannot in good faith recommend this game. It's got a LOT of potential, so if the updates start rolling out again I WILL update this review, but until then treat this game as abandonware.
If you can afford to lose $10, the game is solid enough, but there's one critical bug that essentially nullifies any challenge, that I will not go into in this review.
Unfinished and buggy, and unfortunately it looks like development is on hold for understandable reasons. It's definitely NOT abandoned, but I'd definitely wait until at least the next update before buying this one. I wish the devs luck and hope I see more of this game soon!
A pretty humble game, looks like Abandonware but kinda isn't. Developer has even been active about it in discussions as of mid 2024. It may never leave early access or be completely finished so buyer beware.
It's not exactly mind blowing or innovative, but you can at least get 10 hours out of it without suffering too hard.
It was hard to give this a thumbs up. Only because we lack a "meh" and only have a thumbs up or down.
I genuinely wouldn't recommend getting this game because it's on an indefinite hiatus.
The developer still talks about the game in the discussion forums as of November 16, 2024 (from what I've seen).
For 10 dollars, this game is aight, you'll need to get used to the controls and ui, story is incomplete but it's more of a sandbox game than anything. Game doesn't make enough money for the 2 devs to realistically dedicate their lives on doing. So they are just working on other jobs and maybe one day when they are financial stable, they'll comeback to finish this off. I bought this game while it was on sale back in like 2015.
Otherwise, this game is more of a passion project that had a great deal of work put in by two people from 2014-2022 with alot of open discussion and responses by the devs but they have moved on, for now, as this game does not make enough money to keep them literally alive.
Fantastic, until this game got abandoned, 2 years and no talk of anything. So much promise though.
in the current state, $12 is just barely a fair price, but as many others have said, it might as well be abandoned. dev claims work is very slow on the game due to life, but they also claimed similar last year, so do your research and see what this game has to offer currently , as an update seems unlikely, but i pray dev is holding an update for christmas or something, but again, unlikely..
the game itself though, despite the total lack of activity and only signs of life (no pun intended) from dev is in a discord server, it isnt bad at all, in fact it certainly has a lot more polish than most other games like this, but there comes a time when quality over quantity starts to yield diminishing returns, and this game as it is does not have all that much content. what little it does have though, is pretty nice.
should the game receive an update, or even news on current progress that isnt just "hey we're alive still game isnt abandoned dont worry" but actually includes details and whatnot, ill come back and rewrite my review.
Amazing. I love the Sci-Fi ideas of this game and the mechanics and everything about it. It's one of the games that I come back to every few months to check on because I like it so much. It has a huge potential and it is a good game as it is
This game is great in its current state but is not finished. Unfortunately, it appears that the devs have run out of money and that has resulted in a longtime hold on updates. They're still working on it, however it might be awhile before another major update is released. Buy it if you like the concept as there's plenty to do so far, but be aware that you're purchasing an unfinished product and shouldn't put the money down unless you're comfortable with that.
Last update was 24/07/2022. If the game isn't abandoned it may as well be, Thought the release was just around the corner so i didn't get into it too much. Over 2 years later still waiting.
I did enjoy my time with the game and some of the interesting mechanics it had, but after 2 years of no updates I can't recommend this game as it is abandoned, better spend your money elsewhere
I really like the game, I've sunk a good few hours into playing every update or so, because the updates are always really good, but i'd like to know if the game is still being worked on, or if the devs have abandoned it
