Nostalgic and aged pretty well
Worth the nostalgia trip, I have amazing memories to when i was younger playing this game with my uncle and grandfather. After like 15 years I personally beat it and I never felt better
100/100
Really wish they had made a sequel
Wow.
A childhood memory restored! I found myself lost in how well i remembered where most of the gold spots were and the harmony of the soundtrack. The game ran smoothly, never had any issues with it and it DOES work with controllers (i used an xbox controller).
very classic old school western shooter played it all the time when i was little highly recommend
30 FPS lock
This game really makes you FEEL like a gun.
Jogaço, verdadeiro western
best game of all time
Nostalgic, I have always loved this game. Was nice to experience it again!
Do not buy the Steam version, it's crap. Crashes all the time and you can't do the high FPS mod. Get it on GOG instead.
Great game really fun lots of stuff to do and compared to Red Dead Revolver feels very gamey and gives the wild west atmosphere so good.
Childhood classic.
This game is one of the only true open world western shooter games ever made, and although Red Dead Redemption is miles better, you can still see how it took inspiration from this gem. It's a goofy lil experience thats lots of fun and barely if ever takes itself too seriously. It's a fun wild west game that I genuinley enjoyed ever second of.
except the pony express side quest
fuck the pony express
real ones understand
GUN, the oldest and best western game I've ever played.
Great story, good gameplay for its time, the map is obviously not at the level of RDR2, but it is quite fun and you will spend several hours until you may want to complete it 100% if you are a western lover of course. The only bad thing is that this game is quite expensive.
Blast from the past
AbuRashid
Good game, possible to get working at modern resolutions and even ultra-wide at 60 fps with a few workarounds, but the combat with mouse and keyboard is terrible. The auto aim is EXTREME and cannot be turned off. Would be fine if it worked with a gamepad but unfortunately not even Steam Input seems to do the trick, it just says "this game was not designed to use with a gamepad". Ironic, considering this is a console port from a PS2 :P
(Note: Tweaking the game to work at 60 fps works fine mostly, but it makes explosion radius way bigger, making some missions un-finishable without reverting back to 30 fps for a few minutes just to finish the mission).
All in all it's just too janky and fiddly to get working nicely enough to enjoy, and in the end I gave up. Shame, 'cos it's a good game!
GOOD GAME
The Red Dead Redemption before Red Dead Redemption. Great game, very underrated.
Requires a bunch of 3rd party crap to run correctly
It's good... But Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 are on steam.
Look, It's a well made cowboy game with a good story, fun set pieces and tons of mini games. It feels like if Red Dead Redemption was made for the original Xbox (Instead of the actual original Red Dead).
GUN is an amazing open world western with a great story that came out 5 years before Red Dead Redemption. I found the map while small to be quite fun to traverse on horse back. I found the gunplay to be very tight and responsive and really enjoyed the games mission structure and side content. The games length is really its only down side as its about 8 to 10 hours to pretty much do everything. Despite it's length the game more then makes up for it by being a solid time and I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who likes westerns and open world games alike.
A hidden gem! great game
good game, but sadly unplayable on new hardware and very bad graphics and controls. A remake to this would be lit
Before Red Dead there was GUN. And it was beautiful.

Played this game long ago as a kid on the game cube. Found it on a black Friday sale and decided to buy it. The game is definitely outdated but I forgot how fun it was.
This game is called GUN
It's really FUN
If you play it enough you just might CUM
Suddenly this game inspired me to write a review
As foreword, I'd like to say that I've been waiting to play it for a long time before RDR, so that wouldn't feel like a sand in my mouth afterwards, as it usually happens with old games, especially when they're so conceptually similar.
GUN pleasantly surprised me in almost every way. Despite the fact that I was looking forward to play it, I was afraid of some quite obvious problems: it's an old game — I'll have to dig through guides and look for patches (on top of all I've got an ultrawide). Besides it's a console port, so that made me think I'd have to play it with a gamepad.
To my surprise, all it took was a simple resolution patch and the game runs perfectly on my rig, the ultrawide looks just right, nothing is stretched at all. The controls are responsive and comfortable as possible, the best of all, the game has nice realistic animations, but they're not overly drawn out and it doesn't prevent you from cancelling one animation into another when needed.
Both 3rd person and 1st person gunplay are fine and easy to use, the auto-aim assists in gun-fights and makes them not too difficult and very cinematic (it's very cool when you get five or more bad guys from your GUN in a row).
The horse handling is great, although the game has an acceleration mechanic and you can ride your horse too hard, which affects the time-limited missions. Horses don't feel SOAPY and always turn where you point them, so even at high speeds you are in control of what happening.
The main quest missions are varied and some of the sides, but there are also a few kinds of sides which I can call relatively bland, like time-limited rides, "princess" rescues, hunting (pretty basic), shooting bad fellows who attack one of two towns. All of them take no longer than 2 or 3 minutes. As for the main quest, the game uses all mechanics it has, for example there is even a stealth level and through your way to the victory you'll be able to shoot from different stationary weapons like gatling and cannon. The game feels engaging and won't take more than 15 hours, if only you do not wander through it's beautiful worlds as I did.
I also was really impressed by the beauty of the game world, although as far as I know the game looks a little bit worse than the PS2 version. There are different regions with their own unique palette and mood plus the map is small and easy to remember, including all shortcuts from one zone to another.
The game features the basic upgrades system from three different shops and also your character stats grow after completing every mission. I advise you to ride around and look for gold ore, because you'll be able to upgrade your starting revolver and rifle with it, these guns were my best companions through the whole game. There will be no surplus of money, believe me. Choose wisely what you need here and now.
In conclusion the game is old and unlikely to surprise you after RDR, but it's very well done and it's a solid 8/10. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it was a real RDR when 3D universe of GTA came out. Thanks to the game and it's devs for an extremely enjoyable gaming experience.

One of my childhood favorite games, if you like guns and cowboys this is worth a try
One of the best western games and that is mainly due to its great cast of characters.
After playing through about 25% of Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode, and being bored to tears by the characters, story, and missions. I remembered having played Gun for a couple of hours on the GameCube a while back, and decided to see if it was on Steam. I’ve got to say Gun is 100 times more enjoyable than RDR2. All RDR2 has is pretty graphics, if that’s all you care about, just google a picture of a mountain or look out your window at a tree or some shit.
RDR2:
*sees Indians*
“Oh golly, us white males sure did do them dirty, Indians 4-life!
*rides away*
GUN:
*Bad azz savage Indians do a war cry, and start attacking you with flaming arrows*
RDR2:
Women all look like Walmart cashiers, who get sassy when you look at them for 3 seconds.
GUN:
Big breasted blonde women in brothel attire.
RDR2:
Black cowboy for some reason, who mentions he’s black every single cut scene.
GUN:
Actual cowboys.
RDR2:
Riding your horse 100 miles to have a slow paced gun fight.
GUN:
Arcade style gun fights.
TL;DR
Gun is a really fun cowboy game from a better time in gaming, it’s worth the 6 bucks on sale. The store page doesn’t show controller support, but you can use a controller, you’ll just need to monkey around with the settings a bit.
100 out of 10, my 2024 GOTY.

GUN is an absolute classic from the era where the line between games and movies was really starting to blur. The game is stacked from top to bottom with an all-star voice cast, cinematic storytelling and an early example of an open-world. VERY short if you just plow through the main story, but I don’t recommend that. The game's story is engaging but the side missions are really fun too. Easy recommendation, I’ve beaten this about 10 times now. Still just as good as it was when I played it for the first time.
legendary game
I bought this because Red Dead Redemption is $40. I was not disappointed.
This was my favorite cowboy game till red dead 2 i still love it.
amazing story line and game play for a near 20 year old game definitly worth it
vwa gvsdzv
100
i played when baby
MMMMMM nostalgy....
Excellent game. Surprisingly way more fun than Red dead revolver and more similar to the later red dead redemption games
SUPER DUPER
Best game ever made!
Brutal...
a old but good one
This is piss poor port of the playstation 2 game and it's unplayable. I actually finished it on the ps2, really enjoyed it. This version however, is complete garbage It is not optimized and is only set up for use with the keyboard and mouse. The horse controls ruin it for me. This version of the game sucks. Avoid it. Play it on the console
It's rootin', it's tootin', and by God, it's shootin'.
