I don't typically play RPG's, and although I only crack this bad-boy up every once in a while. it is still a nice and enjoyable experience to get mauled by death claws early in the game.
I am not really a Fallout fan, but I have played them all. This one is up there as the best, since it combines a great narrative with game-play that isn't too dated to get into like the first and second ones. The open world is quite big with lots of interesting things to do, and really nails the wasteland atmosphere. I recommend buying the DLC for this game which is well worth it and just as good, if not better, than the rest of the game.
Holy God. I have played so much fallout 4 and was really excited to play new vegas. But dear god it keeps crashing every 1-5 minutes and I have tried every guide on youtube. I think its do to the fact that it runs on such and old engine and that It cant handle newer pcs. Buy It if you want to try but dont expect much
One of the most influential games of the xbox 360 generation EVER. Plenty of meme worthy moments, comedic bits of time, yet also serious, brooding, and immersive. Capable of both survival gameplay (albiet a bit limited to just food, water, and sleep) and casual gameplay. Interpersonal diplomacy or guns blazing, investigation and explosions. Truly a phenomenal replayable experience despite it's buggy nature. Capable of extreme modding to the point several expansion sized mods have came out (both good and bad). Explore human nature and overcome it as a hero of many kinds, or disregard it and be an evil villain of equally many kinds or be the most morally confusing character the wasteland has ever witnessed.
This game is really good. the only downside is that it crashes every 10 minutes or when fast taveling. because the 2gb ram fallout nv has fills up and crashes.
I would reccomend playing with a mod that fix this. otherwise great game
Amazing game and a classic rpg. Cannot recommend this enough, the DLCs are incredibly well written. You absolutely need to mod the game though as it's very crash happy without stability mods. This game is the gold standard for story focused RPGs.
All these years later this is still the best RPG I have played. The player choice in this game still blows my mind. Fact that you can kill 99% of named npc's and still finish the game is unbelievable to me. Also it is refreshing to see all the characters in the game not talk with a reddit lingo. Overall solid 8.5/10, two points deducted because game is still broken all these years later and you have to install certain mods or it is pretty much doesn't works. Must play for any RPG fan and is still the BEST FALLOUT GAME MADE TO DATE.
Without a doubt one of my favorite games. Even in 2025 with a PS5 and Series S available to me, I still find my self playing FNV! Vortex and MO2 have made modding the game incredibly easy so shouts out to everyone involved in those places as well! Obsidian, Valve, Steam, Vortex, MO2 and the thousands of mod authors who have worked to tirelessly to bring new life to this world, deserve nothing but praise! Thank you!
A quality game that combines the challenging lands of the Mojave Wasteland with a rich story. As far as challenging goes for a fallout game it comes 2nd only to Fallout 3, story wise New Vegas is unmatched. Combining that with 4 endings that have dozens of quests and choices that effect and influence those endings as well as the best DLCs any Fallout game to date has seen this game is a must have. Play how you want with weapon customizations, hundreds of weapons, some of our favorite companions (Boone), skills and perks, and choices that directly affect your story. Low on caps? Gamble! Win to much? Get banned! New Vegas is the only Fallout game i find myself coming back to on a consistent basis.

191 hours in, and i still can’t sleep without watching lore vids and quests I already finished. Every dialogue option? Watched. Character analysis? Watched. Settlement breakdowns? Watched.

I don't usually like open world games, but this game is awesome. So full of life and culture, interesting characters/quests/lore, it basically has none of the issues that I have with open world games. This game more than deserves it's classic status, 10/10.
fun game but i'm still traumatised by the part where u have to follow the viva new vegas guide and spend 2 hours installing the 73 mods needed to make the game run
I wanna love this game for the dialogue and story cause those are fantastic so far but its just too much of a buggy mess to play. Crashes every 40 mins, got stuck in a door and now my only option is to go to a previous save 4 hours ago since it rewrites your saves, hoping theyll remaster it at some point and ill come back but im not touching this lol

In my opinion, the best 3D Fallout game ever released, it feels like a true sequel to Fallout 2. The story is good and it has a lot of content. The game also uses a lot of concepts from Fallout: Van Buren (which is Black Isle's Fallout 3). It is worth trying out along with Fallout 1 and 2.
The game Fallout New Vegas is great, the best in the series in my opinion. However, this PC steam version crashes more than than I can think possible and corrupts save data. It is unplayable.

It's one of the most complete Fallout games ever made, lots of DLC interesting stories and so many different ways to play. I highly recommend playing this game.
I have now played New Vegas on PC and it lived up to my expectations. Its a great world, a little empty but I love the story and everything about it obsidian really outdid themselves. The only issue is the old graphics, (I love old graphics, I get some games just to see the old graphics, but some of the textures are really bothersome to me, I don't know why.) also I am more used to playing Fo4 (which is the best fallout game in my opinion, if New Vegas is your favorite I greatly understand)
First played December 2010. Just got the final achievement January 1st 2025. Buy base game and all DLC`s on sale. Be sure to " Save Game " often. Played "Vanilla" , no "Mods" needed. Great Game ,the best in the series !

Fallout: New Vegas isn’t just a game; it’s an experience that stands tall in the Fallout franchise. I LOVED the faction system in this game—it’s one of the best features ever implemented in an RPG. The ability to align yourself with different factions, each with its own unique ideologies, goals, and consequences, makes every decision feel impactful and meaningful. It adds so much depth and replayability that no two playthroughs are the same.
The ammo system was another standout for me. The variety of ammo types, from armor-piercing to hollow-point, added a layer of strategy that I sorely missed in Fallout 4. Being able to adapt your loadout for specific enemies or situations felt incredibly immersive and made combat so much more rewarding. I truly hope future Fallout games bring this feature back—it’s a game-changer.
While Fallout 4 was great in its own way, I couldn’t help but wish it had taken more inspiration from New Vegas. The storytelling, the freedom of choice, and the intricate systems in New Vegas set a gold standard for the series. Bethesda, take notes—this is how you do a Fallout game!

This game is everyone's favorite Fallout game for a reason, it's THAT good! You may not start out as a Vault Dweller like the other games, but if you stick with it - The story you get involved in is truly the stuff of legend. So if you haven't played this game yet then do yourself a favor and give it a try, you most definitely will not regret it!

fallout new vegas is one of my personal favorite games in the series, this game is just such a blast to play (when it works, it may crash a lot and I actually needed a mod to stop the game from crashing when I started a new game so be aware that you may need one to play, it won't deactivate achievements dw) this game is just so well made and I can guarantee you that you will have fun with this game. 8/10

Probably my favorite Fallout of all time.... that being said there are problems like any other of the series with bugs and not everything fleshed out quite right. Still a a lot of freedom and choice on how to go about things and what kind of character you want to play plus the fun dlcs make this a great play for me.

Really showing its age nowadays but this game is easily one of the best RPGs ever, and in my opinion, has the best gameplay loop out of any game I've played. I'm giving it a 8/10 because you basically need mods to play this game, otherwise it will crash constantly without them, and sometime crash so bad you need to completely shutdown your computer.

So far my experience has been very awkward.
First, I had issues with the resolution... that's fine, I had to restart and change resolution outside of the game. What this didn't fix was the insane cursor speed that happens within menus. I don't know why its so fast, and I can't change it. Only in menus, I can play the game just fine.
Second, I have crashed 6 times. The loading screens are very short so far, which is nice... but when I first launch the game there's a chance I can't get to the menu at all. The game thinks so freaking hard, my CPU is at 100% utilization, and I can't do anything on my PC until it decides It wants to launch or not.
Now actual gameplay... I have seen a vast expanse of desert, with some more desert. I have fought 7 coyotes, something around 8 geckos, 2 wild dogs, and about 1000000000 scorpions. I saw a deathclaw, but it was stuck in the floor and I decided not to try and fight it at level 2. I finally found NPCs outside of the tiny ass town they start you in, after walking around 100 feet of invisible walls... finally found some humans to kill.
I managed to do around 4 quests for what I assume is a faction of criminals, mainly because they were the only people I could find who didn't have one line of dialogue. Finally I get to another town, more NPCs to talk to... only they won't talk. I mean, we had a conversation, but they were all mute. I got the info I needed, and suddenly the NPCs all draw their weapons and start walking really slowly towards the far end of the building. Dunno what that was about, but it looked like a brain worm took over or something. I decided to leave, since the building was boring and hardly anyone had something interesting to say. Big mistake...
I touched the door to exit the building... I stared at the door. I tried to move my cursor... Great, so it froze. I'll go make some tea and come back... maybe it will be fixed. Nope. 20 minutes later because I got side tracked... I had to close the program that claimed it was responding.
So to summarize... so far I have experienced an utter lack of things to do.
- The slowest character I have ever played.
-As far as I can tell... there is no sprint.
- Mostly invisible walls and empty nothingness
- Insanely boring dialogue from the pitiful number of NPCs I actually managed to find.
- Really bad voice acting. Everyone sounds tired and apathetic. Even when they are making threats.
- Severe stability issues, including weirdly high cursor speeds in the menus. Freezing, and crashing.
- Bethesda shenanigans
- Boredom and frustration.
I want to enjoy this game, or at least give it a chance... but it's really making this hard. I guess it might not run well on modern hardware, so that should be taken into consideration if you're looking to try it. Either that or my brand new PC is already a sack of crap.
This is one of the best RPGs of all time and probably the best game in the Fallout series. After 14 years, playing the game today still gives a great experience, although encountered crashing a pack of times.
The story is rich and explorable areas are huge. After 100 hours into the game, I still have lots of areas haven't been to and many quests not experienced. Most of the quests have multiple ways to handle and there are consequences. Followers could take action without your instruction so beware.
The combat system is quite unique. You can play either as FPS / action game or strategic game. Both are viable.
Achievements are overall very doable. GRA achievements and collection related achievements are probably the most difficult ones. Hardcore mode is more tedious so better to do hardcore in the second run.
Overall this is a must play for single player who love story rich games.
My all-time favorite game. Would recommend this to anyone interested in a post-apocalypse game, with a great story and memorable factions and characters. Even after completing it there are always more reasons for replayability and of course to see all the different endings and secrets.
Runs well on Steam Deck out of the box with Proton. Stable performance, accurate button prompts, reasonable default controls.
Not recommending because it just isn't fun IMO. At first I liked exploding heads in slow motion with VATS. But the melee combat gets old fast. Your attack feels the same whether you have 30 Melee or 80, and whether you have a shaving razor or a machete from Caesar's Legion. Hard to get excited for level ups when I'm not unlocking cool new shit.
Exploration is miserable when the character walks like a geriatric amputee and can barely climb knee-hight rocks.
Quests feel unrewarding when everything seems to be a checklist within a checklist within a checklist. Doesn't help when the compass lies by omission or doesn't actually help indoors.
This is one of the best games I have ever played, sadly it no longer works at all. It literally crashes all the time, within minutes of loading up. When it crashes, it often takes my entire PC with it. It's actually broken.
One of the Kings of RPGS period. New Vegas is expansive and has so much to uncover. Here are some key tenets on its greatness:
1. Customization and play-styles: New Vegas has so many different ways to play the game that everyone will find a style that best suites them. Go guns blazing, talk your way out, sneak and hack through each mission, etc. What you can do in this game is only limited by the player's imagination and any style you pick will work with this game.
2. Choices: Numerous ways to tackle quests that play well into the players style. Numerous options also allows for tones of replay value.
3. World design: So many things to see and do in this game. So much so that you often won't find everything in one playthrough.
4. Replaybility: Biggest strength this game has is how much replay value it has. Honestly not many games have as much replaybility as New Vegas. First playthrough including base game and DLCs will have players easily putting up to or over 100 hours. And that's just one playthrough. All the different choices and playstyles makes this game endlessly replayable. More than get your money worth's.
Honestly there's so much to this game's greatness that you have to experience it yourself to understand why it's so beloved. Easily top 20 best games of all time no doubt. Pick it up for the holiday season you won't regret your stay in New Vegas!

A game with its lore from its original developers, with character, charm and the embodiment of the message of the Fallout series.
It's perfect, there's no other way to say it.
The only thing wrong with the game is that Obsidian didn't have enough time to make the game the way they wanted it to be, it would have been even better.

game just crashes out of no where after hours of play. very sad. happens well after 2 hours.
Used to love the game, but ever since a month ago (windows 11 update i think.) Upon opening the game and clicking play the game instantly crashes. I have installed every mod under the sun, nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game like 10 times, nothing. I edited the games files in an attempt to get the game running, nothing. If you have any idea how I could fix this, please tell me.
weak in exploration and looting but strong(ish) in quests and story
No matter how much I truly wanted to play this game, it's just unplayable now. Windows 11 bricked it, even with Viva New Vegas it crashes every 10 minutes. Unplayable, buggy mess. It's a shame.
Best Fallout game made by far, just above Fallout 2. Yes it crashes and runs like shit around the NV area. Blame Bethesda for taking away 6 months of dev time.
