Highly recommended. However, get a couple of mods that would help stabilize the game so that it doesn't crash as often on modern hard ware
its Fallout f*kng New Vegas put some respect on its name. No i wont say its the best BC i've seen where that debate goes.
Mashta piece. Pure cinema for its time. While game play doesn't keep up with modern standards the story more than carries it. Tons of side quests, great DLC and plenty of content to keep you busy for a long time. If you have never played, don't look up guides just enjoy the ride. 9/10/
Man we saw how great Oblivion turned out after a remaster please....PLEASE remaster this game and all then content that it offers seeing that the fallout show is coming back for another season and will star around New Vegas you might even be able to add some new tweaks this game was my favorite when I was younger and I would love to play it again without all the impossible issues that lead to you crashing or when you want to mod this game its like impossible not to run into issues just remaster this game because up to date computers just cant work a game that was made in 2010 because its not suited to be run on them sadly...
Woke up in Doc Mitchell's house. Fumbled around the not knowing what to do, proceeded to steal everything that was not nailed to the floor. Didn't know what to do anymore. Quits game and doesn't come and refunds it.
Watches so much Fallout videos on YouTube. Buys it again. Goes outside of Goodsprings and kills every powder ganger I see. Walks to Primm, sees ammo boxes, takes ammo from box and gets shot by troopers. Murder troopers(yey) Go to Bison. Kill every convict. Rescue Deputy Beagle and make him carry everything I have. I go outside for one second and he banishes like magic with all my blood money. Dies in anguish. Reloads a save. Tell they for some reason don't know that I killed 2 troopers. Help them out kill ants. Rage quits at playing Caravan. Goes to Nipton at request of Ghost. Kills Oliver. The femboy of the East talks to me. Thinks about killing him cause there could only be one furry femboy in the Mojave. Doesn't kill him. Spreads his "Sermon/Lesson" Go to the road to the Legion Raiding Camp. Rescue powder gangers. Goes back to Goodsprings. Go to the shortcut to New Vegas. Steal everything from the Prospectors. Continue on with my journey. Kills a young deathclaw and laughs until I get instantly split in half by an adult one. Go to Hidden Valley and onto Black Mountain. Meet Neil. "Hi Neil." Warns me of Tabitha. Goes in anyways. Gets killed many times. Thinks about it for a sec. Snipes the super mutants instead of running at them straight. It works! Go to the main Black Mountain buildings. 123456789. Talk to Raul(yey) Get Raul as a companion. Get confronted by Tabitha. Kills Tabitha. Loots everything. Go to New Vegas. Enter Freeside. Go to Mick and Ralph's. Get a counterfeit passport. Go t the King. Help the King, peacefully... Go to King and ask him how to enter the Strip wasting his favor cause I can already go in. Go inside The Strip. Let Benny run off and I kill his guards. Vulpes talks to me and gives me Caesar's Mark. The NCR also talks to me. Goes to Dennis Crocker. Goes and Gambles and gets banned in Every Casino. Gets Stripers for the Atomic Wrangler. Goes to a place not knowing that I'll be stuck there for so long(Big Mt) Gets done with Big. Stop the Khans and Legion from becomkng allies(peacefully) Tell Lt. Hayes that Tyrone is supplying Khans with drug supplies. Basically just helping the NCR out. Get NCR radio(this thing is really good actually) Get high morale at Camp Forlorn Hope by abusing sneak attacks so I won't get any infamy from the Legion. 4 Veteran Ranger 1 Ranger and an NCR Sergeant storms Nelson(I am there but I did nothing) Every Legionarie is now dead except for Dead Sea and 2 others. great game, great dialogue options. no strict way to play
recommend the viva new vegas modlist for anyone trying for the first time, it makes lots of quality of life changes and makes it much more playable for today's standards, while keeping the vanilla feel.
other than that, 10/10, must play for RPG fans. Please play the all the DLC as well
Well, all this time I have never wrote a review for this game. What can I say. It's New Vegas. Play it now.
Viva New Vegas guide makes this a near crash free experience, helps alot with stutters notably when you un/holster your weapon, highly recommend checking that out. If its your first time playing skip the extended part as it delves into overhauls and such.
It's a fun game but there are about a million bugs. Game keeps crashing, quests cannot be completed due to game respawning enemies, corrupted saves. I need to google about how to solve a bug basically every day. Maybe it was considered good back in the days but now it looks like a unfinished project.
Played it back on launch, replayed it again with New New Vegas mod compilation off Nexus. It is immersion based modpack but it does also add a ton of new things due to which I'll refrain from crtiqiuing it too much.
Regardless, New Vegas is the best Bethesda type RPG I have played!
The different variables and the interactions makes the quests, factions etc.. add a lot to the choice element and makes multiple playthroughs interesting each time as there are so many different paths big or small to explore.
Played the DLCs for the first time which were a ton of fun.
Dead Money - Amazing DLC, really immersive with cool gameplay elements owing to the collar and exploration focused map design. I wish more RPGs had the courage to implement more unique gameplay features in their DLCs. We definitely need more like this!
Old World Blues - Really good map with individual locations being really interesting to explore in terms of lore and how much is added to it. Main story starts off a bit weak and the humour can miss at times but I do think it ends in a great way. Overall, a great DLC.
Honest Hearts - I actually quite enjoyed it. The "simpler" theme of the DLC with the tribals and characters like Joshua Graham is executed really consistently across the playthrough. The map itself was cool but individual locations were weak to explore. However, the Survivalist side story was great.
Lonesome Road - Great location and a ton of fun combat encounters. Had great fun playing through it. The other DLCs built up Ulysses for the story but I must say the pay off felt incredibly disappointing. His ramblings and ideologies just don't hit hard.
All in all, this is a game that is a must play for every RPG lover.
18 carat run of peak fiction. truth is the game was autistic from the start. (and so was i so like i think i mix pretty well with this game.)
This is the best-open world RPG game. I loved every second of it. I don't like the gun play and yes it is better then in fallout 3 but still bad, the graphics are old, a lot of crashes and bugs and that's why i hope new Vegas gets a remaster or a remake like Oblivion did and i hope its going to be soon. I absolutely love the Fallout world and lore i think it has the best backstory and lore of any game.
Too many software bugs to play. For example: for me, at 8th level Fast Travel stopped working. (I look up how to fix this, solved it in a couple of days.) I walk into a room, flip a switch, and that completes the quest. Leaving the room leads to a load screen lock up.
I am tired of fixing/work around, Bethesda games!
Was the first Fallout game I played and I gotta say I have been hooked since. I know people think that this game is the best in the series but I will say this is probably the best one to start playing if you'tr going to get into Fallout. The graphics hold up, and there's tons of replay ability I would say with endings, builds, etc.
If Fallout 3 brought the franchise into the modern gaming era, New Vegas elevated it into masterpiece territory. It takes everything that made Fallout 3 great and adds incredible depth, storytelling, and player agency.
The factions and characters are wildly diverse, and your choices shape the world in meaningful, often difficult ways. Multiple endings, a tighter but richly detailed map, and hundreds of hours of gameplay make this the ultimate Fallout experience.
While I still have love for Fallout 3, New Vegas: Ultimate Edition offers more factions, deeper role-playing, and a story that puts you in the driver’s seat. It’s everything you didn’t know you wanted from a Fallout game—and more.
A true classic that I’d recommend to anyone who values meaningful choices in games.
10/10. Play it, mod it, live it.
While New Vegas may not have the best gameplay and combat in the series, it has [undeniably] the best story in the series, from your arise in Goodsprings, to your ultimate decision to decide the fate of the Mojave Wasteland, it is a game you must try once in your life. While my hours may not seem much, these hours were genuinely the best I had during my times of gaming, I had pulled several all-nighters into finishing the base game with its DLCs, collecting various armors and weapons scattered throughout the map, uncovering secrets of the Wasteland, recruiting companions to fight, it was simply an amazing experience, I recommend New Vegas for anyone who values adventure and story.
Honestly i think the game has aged poorly. Don't get me wrong the RPG elemets are amazing and this game was revolutionary FOR ITS TIME. I just think after you deal with Benny (the guy that shot you) it just slowly gets boring. Like in my opinion it just kinda feels kinda boring and repetitive after that. I would also say the map of the desert just feels kinda lifeless. In my opinion Fallout 4's map in better in most ways. outside of the new Vegas strip the desert feels kinda lifeless and dull, while fallout 4's map is jam packed with places to explore and i find myself actually navigating my way through the commonwealth instead of fast traveling. while in new Vegas i find myself fast traveling almost everywhere i go. In conclusion im not saying its a bad game because its not im just saying my personal thoughts on the game and just because its not my favorite doesn't mean it can't be yours.
Another game that I've owned multiple times before and played through multiple times (don't trust the clock again). It's Political Compass: The Video Game, featuring Roman Cosplayers, Democracy in Decline, Funny Objectivist Man and a gang of Elvis impersonators. Also featuring a Brotherhood of Steel lunatic in a casino full of killer holograms, brains in jars that belong in a mental asylum, a guy who is angry at you for accidentally nuking an entire place and a Mormon with a pile of guns who wants to bring about the wrath of the Lord if you get the DLCs. Can admittedly get kind of powergamey towards the end, especially after completing all the DLCs and if you max out speech (really OP skill), but good shit nonetheless, as the narrative is great and the factions are believable.
My boyfriend got me to play this game and when I did I fell in love with it. I sunk 200+ hours on my first playthrough. It's truly a life altering experience. I'm about to go in for another round with tale of two wastelands. Everything that can be said about this game has been said so talking about its positives is pointless. If you haven't played it yet what are you even doing with your life. Play it now. Like right now. Stop reading reviews and buy it so you can play the damn game already.
First things to do:
> turn on the radio on your Pip-Boy 3000
> get your first gun (even a small piu-piu is enough to not get screwed by the local fauna)
> try not to get ptsd from geckos and cazadors
> earn some bottle caps
> try to learn how to play caravan (low chance of success)
> lose all bottle caps because of caravan
> earn some bottle caps
> get better gear
> find new vegas
If you succeeded in all of the above, you can continue the game (you can forget about the caravan as if it never existed in the game)
Good luck!
This game has a good story but it is shame i cant do it because i killed some annoying NPCs
Absolutely love this game, one of my ALLTIME faves and probably favorite Fallout game out of the ones that I've played (Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and if you count it; Fallout shelter). The main downsides I've found are as follows: No sprinting unless you install a mod that specifically add sprinting, increasing your agility points are the only way to affect speed. The infinite loading glitch is a glitch that- well, causes loading screens to last forever. Some mods may work, but the workaround I found is starting a new game, making a save right after leaving doc Mitchell's house, and then loading that first save, and then loading your active save from that first save; afterwhich loading saves and leaving/entering locations should work fine. Wild Card: Sidebets: In this quest, if you tell Yes Man you want to "Ignore" a faction, you cannot do ANY quests from this faction, nor can you complete the game with them. If a quest involves a "forgotten" faction, that quest should be fine as long as the questgiver isn't a member of said faction. Disguises do not fix Wildcard: Sidebets like they will with low reputation.
"Truth Is, The Game Was Rigged From The Start."
One of the best western RPG experiences of all time, and one of my all time favorite games. While the Game hasn't aged the best and needs mods to run properly, It is totally worth the hassle. The modding scene for this game is insane, allowing you to completely craft a whole new experience, add more content or just tweak existing systems, and of course plenty of bug fixes and QoL changes. I highly encourage anyone who hasn't played this to try it out, especially if you enjoy any other fallout titles or RPG games. Game is constantly on sale for less the 5$, try to avoid paying full price.
Played and enjoyed it a long time ago on playstation 3. One of my favourite games. Despite the jankiness, I enjoyed it so much I brought it again.
the only fallout game worth playing since 1&2 require a phd while 3&4 require a zip bomb's worth of mods in order to resemble fun
Do not, I repeat DO NOT switch the game into spanish and switch it back to english, the pip boy texture will forever be in spanish.
10/10 best fallout game 👍
In this Obsidian Entertainment + Bethesda Softworks classic, you play as a mailman in modern day Oakland, California.
With 193 mods active at the time I finished, I have no idea how jank the base game is. But no mods can fix how a game is written, and New Vegas does that phenomenally. The worldbuilding the dialogue and the ideas are really nice. The game never gets too much into one end or the other, and consistently pulls a balanced narrative that really shines in its variety. There's always humor in the wasteland, as much as there's horror like in Vault 22. Solid 8.5/10 game.
New Vegas is a great game. However, even with the most recent mod support, it crashes. Unless a huge patch is released, this is a challenging game for the modern era.
I understand, enjoy, and am successful at Caravan.
this game is really good but lord the glaze is out of hand everyone gasses this game up crazy but its more like walking simulator, its fun but dont let the intense overratedness fool you
Every girl should play this game as a way to let loose do not let it intimidate you, just chem up and have fun
I've completed the game and now for some reason I really want the platinum chip i went on eBay and bought a replica and now I have this weird feeling that it will not arrive
amazing game can only recommend
with a bit of modding for stability and crash fixes, without a doubt one of the greatest rpgs ever
i'm in love with the amount of freedom the game offers. the absolute balls it takes to allow the player to kill ANY main quest-adjacent npc is remarkable. though i've only done one playthrough, i'm absolutely itching to replay it every day.
crashes like theres no tommorow but story and gameplay are legendary.
I spent 20 hours on a save file forgot to make manual saves when my save file became corrupted 10/10 game
I've realized today that this is my fav game ever made. Modded/Un-Modded, there is enough content in this game that I put well over 300 hours into it on my 360. Now I'm putting even more hours into it on pc a decade later. I'm still finding new interactions & stuff I missed, it's that magical and I'll never grow tired of this game. There will never be another game like Fallout New Vegas and it's tragic
Simply the best Fallout. One of the last great games of Bethesda and Obsidian.
fun game. im sure theres a way to play it fast paced but i find this game relaxing
After playing this again more than 14 years later from my first playthrough as a kid, Fallout NV Still a top 5 RPG ever made, even today.
The story, the factions, the companions and weapons all come together in this game to make it one of the best in the Fallout series.
The fact you can approach most quests in a multitude of ways to get an outcome is brilliant, such as ways to deal with Benny when you reach him at the Tops or how to deal with the powder gangers when you first start in Goodsprings. It truly makes you feel that you have the ultimate choice and not the game choosing for you and saying its an RPG.
All the factions and endings have their pros and cons which makes your choices that much harder and your companions will show approval or disagreement based off some of these which is a great touch for 2010.
Glad to see the DLC has also held up from when i played and you can tell this had a lot of effort put into the world building and story telling.
Not to mention, no characters in this game are un killable as well. leaving you full choice to do what you want as a true RPG experience.
Overall 10/10 would recommend
keeps on freezing my pc when i try to load saves. i dont have any mods installed so thats not the issue. great game but definitely a waste of money on steam.
Boring game. Don't tell me about the story because it doesn't fix the bad gameplay and empty lifeless world that just isn't interesting.
Will crash occasionally, but besides physical issues it is one of the most thorough games in the Fallout series
I gave this game 2 long attempts at vanilla playthroughs and both times I ended up dropping the game to the insane times it crashed and how the game felt old and sometimes annoying regarding things like movement and gunplay.
I already considered this game to have some great world building and both main and side stories were written with a lot of love and thought behind them, so I gave it one more chance after many people recommended me to mod the f**k out of this game and I cannot insist enough on how much this game improved, I barely saw any crashes compared to my original playthroughts, loading screens turned out to be super short, I could tab out of the game, so many QoL was added into the gameplay from visuals, weather to combat systems and even animations making everything feel more solid which prevented for most of the burnout I encountered in my first playthroughs and this allowed me to finish what I consider one the best stories told through this medium.
Yes, it is a grind to get through the bugs, and yes the graphics are outdated. But man... it is so worth it.
Fire your writers and hire obsidian to write every fallout game from now on thanks
I love this game, it's my favorite one overall.
Love the wild west type of feel, the mechanics, the setting.
All in all, give this game a shot. Gunplay is a bit dated, which is to be expected, but as an rpg it's one of the best.
The game is very replayable, lots of factions to choose from, questlines to follow, and even after 500 hours in it I still find new things.
Not to mention the mods for it are great of course and can make it x10 better. Lotta issues like crashing, bugs, etc can be fixed by them.
very great world and story with amazing dlcs
Never gets old
amazing game, you could easily put in 200 hours into it. Highly recommended because it just proves you don't need the latest graphics to make an amazing game with hours upon hours of fun.
An amazingly written story with fantastic gameplay. A game i would recomend to whoever asks.
