its a great game at first you might think "oh great here we go" but when you get more into the game you relize how good it is but some parts are very tricky so make sure its the right choice oh and one last thing "the game was rigged from the start"

After receiving years of taunts and humiliations from New Vegas fans whenever I brought up how much I enjoyed Fallout 4, I finally worked up the courage to give New Vegas a try. I don't even need to explain how good the game is when there are so many "good game is good and here's why" videos on New Vegas. However, the game is a bit old and requires some tinkering for a smooth experience. I recommend checking out Viva New Vegas modding guide if you are familiar with modding tools.

Thought the role-playing was better in New Vegas, but compared to 4 the gameplay wasn't as fun for me. Also, all the Bethesda games I've tried besides Wolfenstein have such a lackluster story. I haven't got into side missions yet but I'm sure they're good.

Don't play with mods in my opinion, the bugs in the game are a part of the Experience.

Amazing story if you take the time to listen and explore the world, but the gameplay is mediocre, with the walking being a bit frustrating unless you learn movement tech or get the right perks.

I've recently come to PC from consoles, just got tired of being generation naly/ platform restricted from games. I have beat this game so many times. I have to have like 300+ hours on console alone. But moving over to PC and playing, it's like playing it all over for the first time again.

This is one of those games that so broken and janky at times, but some how them mad lads at Obsidian nailed it. Sure the dialog is corny as shit some times and the gun play/ character handles like ass sometimes, and the crashes, ugh the crashes. But honestly none of that matters cause the game is so well done it sucks you in. This is arguably my favorite video game.

10 out of 10 reccomend if you want to get in on the FallOut series as your first game.

Where to begin?

Fallout: New Vegas is easily the best 3D Fallout game so far. If you're looking for a rich role-playing, look no further than this game; you decide who to back in the conflict and choices definitely matter. Full of memorable characters and adventuring companions all brought to life with excellent voice-acting. Humour so black it could blot out the Sun!

A titan of intelligent writing and engaging quest design. Must play. In desperate need of an easy way to play a stable version, but it's worth going through the trouble to play it.

Pretty good role playing experience, got endings I would have wanted in about 80% of the ending slides. Definitely going to play again, there is a lot to do and so many different paths. DLCs are all really good as well.

The stories make up for the janky gunplay and outdated graphics. Recommend downloading the Viva La Vegas mod to improve graphics and gameplay.

One of my ALL TIME favorite Fallout games. It has to be a first to have an amazing story, soundtrack, and characters while having the potential to crash your PC by opening a door.

After playing the game for about 90 hours and finishing the battle of Hoover Dam, I still feel like there's so much left to explore. Some parts of the game have aged poorly, and some quests and locations can be difficult to parse without looking up a few things here and there. But overall, playing New Vegas feels incredible and genuinely immersive. I'll always look back at this first play-through fondly, and I'll be more than happy to come back later to uncover even more of the Mojave. Mastapeece.

I could write an entire essay on how much I love this game.

In my opinion, it’s the best first/third-person RPG ever made, and I’ve played my fair share of RPGs. This game doesn't just meet industry standards, it surpasses them in every possible way. The writing is sharp, the characters are unforgettable, and the main and side quests are woven with such depth that it feels like every choice truly matters. The music and atmosphere immerse you in a post-apocalyptic world like no other, and the dark humor brings a unique charm that never gets old.

Playing through New Vegas is always a wild and deeply rewarding journey, no matter how many times I return to it. Even now, 14 years after its release, no similar game has come close to topping it, and I genuinely don't think anything will in the foreseeable future.

There’s a reason this game is revered by the gaming community. It’s a masterpiece that has stood the test of time, and for good reason.

As a large fan of Fallout it doesn't get better than this.
The story is excellent with a good variety of different factions to side with.
Decisions actually feel like they matter and the way you choose your special stats are semi permanent so you are actually required to "role play".
If only Obsidian had more than 18 months to make this I can't even imagine what a Fallout New Vegas with 4 year dev time would have looked like.

This is my favorite game of all time. The graphics, while old, are charming. The atmosphere of this game is incredible. The dialogue and side quests are some of the best ever. The story is exciting and satisfying. The name Legate Lanius will haunt your dreams. IYKYK. 10/10

Started with Fallout 3 right after 4 was announced and all my older friends talked up how good the game was. I loved it, I was still a new gamer at the time and I could not describe how much fun I had. Then I started New Vegas, at first I didn't like it. It would crash all the time and just seemed so much different than 3. After playing more and more I fell in love with it. I moved from console to pc and the amount of hours That I have dedicated to this game are honestly kind of sad. This game is what I wish every game could be. Even with the crashes and bugs the game is so immersive, with a world that is believably real that all the issues don't pull you out of the world. I started to play New Vegas after I watched the TV series. Before that I had never played Fallout game before, I tried some Bethesda games and I knew how deep that games can be but concept of the Fallout world was not into me until I watch the series. Did a little research about best Fallout game in internet and after 150 hours of Mojave experiences "Voilà" here we are.

At the beginnings, game feel much more older than expected and NO, this is not a well aged game. Even with 100+ mods I struggled play but I kept going and the game started to shine. Dialogues and stories are real gem of this game. There are to many different people, groups, ideologies and stories It almost disconnects you from reality. Sometimes you find yourself that you are talking with some kind of Smart TV for 30 minutes straight. I've never seen anything like this before even if I had seen it, no TV could make me talk to it for 30 minutes based on optioned dialogues but this game can and that's the beauty of it.

Gameplay or graphics are too old but it can be bearable with mods and pricing is pretty OK. I suggest New Vegas to everyone which watched and liked the TV series.

This is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time the replayability of this game is absolutely remarkable, i couldn't suggest this game more!

For my money this game is tied for the best RPG of all time, the story is next to none, the RPG mechanics are suprisingly good and this game still has some of the best choices in all of gaming.

One of the most engrossing games I've ever played, but... Weirdly enough, it really shouldn't be. There is so much jankiness embedded deep into the game itself. You may crash at any given moment (SAVE OFTEN), gunplay is better than 3 but still so weird to handle at times, the dialogue can get either corny as hell or edgy as hell, but it all just works. It comes together greatly as this hot mess that I cannot put down once I decide to play through again.

It is an absolute miracle that this game is as good as it is considering its development circumstances. It triumphs over releases that have had over 7 years in the oven (a certain Field of Stars). Give it a try. If the price tag of 10 buckaroos is too much, it usually goes on sale for at least 5, but I say spring for the Ultimate Edition, cause some of the DLC is actually pretty good.

I would gladly downgrade to windows 10 but windows is a stuck up bitch who for some reason doesn't want me to downgrade from the bloatware that is "windows 11" its just windows 10 with a shitty reskin and additional bloatware and Microsoft spyware. I wanted to keep mods out of my game because i don't trust Nexus, if you're game requires a community made mod just to play the game then i want my money back.

When Bethesda released Fallout 3 in the fall of 2008, it was lauded as one of the greatest open-world role-playing games of the time. Now, two years later the juggernaut of a franchise has another addition to its repertoire with Fallout: New Vegas. It appears that Obsidian didn't feel the need to change much about the successful formula, as the similarities to its predecessor are so significant I often want to call it Fallout 3: New Vegas. Since the first game was so widely loved, that's certainly not a bad thing, but New Vegas does feel like a giant, awesome expansion.

The Fallout series takes place after a nuclear war and the U.S. is desecrated, a shell of its former glory. Humanity emerges from the tragedy as selfish and power-hungry as ever. Despite the bombardment of numerous nukes, the city of Vegas managed to survive the war mostly untouched. In the aftermath, a group of people formed touting the values of the old governmental system and called themselves the New California Republic, or NCR. Thanks to the Hoover Dam, the NCR and citizens of New Vegas have access to clean water and power, something most areas lack. At odds with the NCR is the Legion, a dictatorship lead by a man who renamed himself Caesar. Based on the Roman methodology of conquering other civilizations, the Legion absorbs nearby tribes and enslaves a portion of their population. The NCR and Caesar's Legion butt heads over control of the area, and tensions are high. You're a courier in these troubled times with no defined background. Just a seemingly regular guy or gal, you're tasked with delivering a package to the New Vegas strip, but let's just say complications arise. Though the story provides pops of color and a few necessary minor twists to keep things interesting, it's predictable just the same. There are three possible endings to the main quest, and similar to Fallout 3 at launch, once you complete it you won't be able to continue your journey through the wastelands unless you re-load an old save. This is a bummer, especially since that was a major complaint with Fallout 3 and Bethesda later fixed it with downloadable content.

When you enter the Mojave Desert for the first time you'll notice that the landscape looks similar to the previous wastelands, but now there's actual vegetation around. While most of it is dried up, you can find and harvest fresh fruit, seeds, and herbs, which you can use to whip up concoctions like healing powder or stimpaks. Though the game is still really difficult when you're inexperienced, the main missions lead you along a relatively safe route to the New Vegas strip, where the story starts to get interesting.At first I enjoyed the fact that each faction you can help seemed to have shades of grey instead of a black or white morality scale – the New California Republic is bloated and ineffective at protecting its people, but the tight ship the Legion runs with slave labor is off-putting. Then I realized you gain Karma for murdering Legion members and lose Karma for killing NCR troops, so the lines weren't so blurred after all. While it's a little disappointing and short, you won't (and shouldn't) be spending most of your time on the primary quest.

Apart from the key story, there's a plethora of side missions to play through and they're what makes the game truly shine. The great thing about the open world of New Vegas is just that – there are few limits to exploration. There's almost an overwhelming amount of places to find and every time you turn around someone will want your help. Just when you think you've explored every nook and cranny of an area, you'll realize that there are underground sewers to brave or some other previously undiscovered sector. Some quests are short and of the "go fetch" variety, while others are truly epic tales that overshadow the chief storyline. Deception, cannibalism, space travel and drug use are all themes found in off-the-straight-and-narrow places. Expect to spend approximately 100 hours (around the same as Fallout 3) if you want to see and complete every mission available in the game. Depending on how you treat people, their opinion of you will change. If you're kind to a small town of folks and help protect them from hostile groups, they'll idolize you, while the opposing group will hate you. These opinions are important as they'll determine how aggressive the different groups are toward you.The wasteland can be a lonely place, but you don't have to wander alone. There are several companions that will join you on your quest and will have issues of their own they'll want you to help with. You can be accompanied by two different friends at a time, one of the robot or animal variety and one person (or former person). Each companion offers a special boost and their kills give you experience points, but they can also be more trouble than they're worth. I lost track of mine constantly, and there's no easy way to hunt them down. Even more irritating is their terrible A.I. Although you can easily hop a three-foot-tall fence, your buddies have to go the long way around until they find a direct opening. Still, despite their obvious flaws, it's nice having others around while you fix the world's many problems.

If your relatively silent pals don't comfort you enough, you can also tune into radio stations with Mr. New Vegas as the prime DJ, voiced by Wayne Newton. He's much less irritating than Three-Dog from Fallout 3, but the songs and stories still repeat often, meaning you won't want to be tuned in for the entirety of your playthrough.


If you've played Fallout 3, you won't miss a step when transitioning over to New Vegas since it's largely the same in terms of gameplay. Wandering the desert, you'll meet friendly people and kill aggressive monsters and thugs. Or maybe you'll kill friendly people and become friends with the thugs, though you should still kill the monsters. New animal foes are present in the West, including but not limited to pesky Cazadores (giant flying insects that will poison you), Giant Praying Mantises (er, they are what they sound like) and Nightstalkers (a scary crossbreed of rattlesnake and coyote). All these creatures sport colorful designs, making them pretty to look at while you shoot them. There's something intensely satisfying about lighting an enemy on fire with a flamethrower, then capping them in the head with a .357 Magnum and finishing them off with a Plasma Rifle. Killing is never a chore, and always an adventure.Speaking of shooting (Pew! Pew!), you can play the game from either a first-person or third-person perspective. Third-person allows for a useful vantage point (you won't find yourself randomly attacked from behind), but the animations are goofy and it's impractical for shooting on the fly. First-person mode is more useable and though you lack a full 360 degree view you can finally aim down the sights with your gun, making it easier to play like a first-person shooter while your V.A.T.S. is recharging. Designed to make the game less of a shooter, V.A.T.S. (stands for Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) allows you to pause the action and select specific body parts of your target. Want to decapitate a coyote or shoot off the arm of an aggressive gang member? Go right ahead. To keep the system from being abused and completely unbalancing the gameplay, every shot you fire takes up a certain amount of action points. The more powerful the weapon, the more action points it will use.

After you complete enough quests or bring death upon a whole town you might notice that you've leveled up. Fallout: New Vegas uses the same character building system as Fallout 3, so S.P.E.C.I.A.L. determines your basic character stats and skill sets and perks are back. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. acronym stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck. At the beginning of the game you'll be able to allocate points to whichever stat you'd like, then build out you

One of my favorite games ever made and easily my favorite fallout. I love every fallout game in their own way but new vegas is perfect fallout to me. The story, combat, characters, map, everything is perfect. But by far the biggest strength NV has to offer is the power of choice. Every decision you make and every action you take will in some way shape or form affect the story and the characters within. Leaving me still to this day questioning some of my choices made. If you can get past the game crashing here and there and some minor bugs, I promise New Vegas will be one of the best games you've ever played.

from the start i knew it was going to be a great game. the story is flawless (dont quote me on that though), the companions are funny, (most of) the quests are fun. what else could you want? one thing that could have been better is the gun system when outside of V.A.T.S, like, yea its ok, but if obsidian could have gotten a few more months before release so they could have actually gotten a better gun system out, that would have been awsome (mind you i have no idea what making games with the gamebryo engine is like, so take this with a grain of salt)

I think I've played and beaten this game upwards of 20 times since it's release. I'm still discovering new things about it, each playthrough can be totally different. The aesthetic of the post nuclear Nevada desert, the reintroduction of the NCR to the franchise, the status of the BoS... the companions?! I absolutely adore this game, the story and the voice actors are all just so fantastic. The DLCs are amazing additions to the story, and the writing behind each DLC is brilliant and thought provoking. Learning to let go of the past and relinquish your greed in Dead Money. The power and trials of redemption and faith, self-sacrifice and love within Honest Hearts. The perils of repeating history and the dangers of science to morality and humanity itself within Old World Blues, and the struggle of fixing unintended mistakes and recognizes those consequences on the Lonesome Road.. I love this game. You should too.

Angry mailman with head trauma steals all the money from the casinos while simultaneously taking down two major military factions and becoming overlord of Vegas. Also possibly launches two nuclear missiles at said military factions for goofs and laughs.

Fallout New Vegas is an older game now and the graphics cant measure up to current titles but dont let that stop you from playing. This game has a great premise and story line. Your choices matter throughout the entire game, significantly changing how the story comes to a conclusion. Combat is ok, but I would call it very good compared to other Fallout games ive played. VATS helps a lot. 9/10, would recommend!

Great fallout game, many mechanics that they should have kept for the 4th

I have played this game for almost 80h and It is so good. Not gonna lie, I've played all fallouts and It is soo good, you not only can ally for example with the NCR but also you can ally with the rest until you decide the last options before the second battle of Hoover Damn.

Things for new Fallout players. Do not expect a game with 4k resolution, It is a game from 2010, although you can download mods that will apply so, and also If you are the kind of guy who likes shooters, this ain't cod. Despite this, you can also download mods to improve it. Either way, I have played (for example) Fallout 4 and their graphics are meh for its time (not counting the DLC) and its shooting its meh (I went from Fallout 1 to 4 we don't talk about 76).

Now finished that, expect the game to crash, still, you can download mods for that. Now great things:
- Main story: very good.
- Second stories: very good.
- Options to complete and accomplish the main mission: many and depends also on your karma as games previous Fallout 4.
- Weapons: There are so many, from the mythical 10 mm pistol to the own "faction weapons" as the gladius sword, or for example, unique weapons as Joshua Graham's pistol. Weapons aren't as Fallout 4, they are different. Unique weapons on Fallout 4 are obtain or by missions (mostly BoS) or most of the time by legendary enemies. In this game you have unique weapons and they are so, you ain't finding another.
Enemies: We have the usual mole rats or raiders (for example), and the tough ones like deathclaws. (please for the love of god, do not go the main quarry road, nor the north Goodsprings road with the cazadors), cazadors (black mf) and fiends. Fiends are some kind of raiders that are enemies from most of the time but you can actually ally with them to fuck up the NCR. Also the goofy powder gangers.
Factions: too many to count, good thing here, you do not have a ultra powerful BoS, it is a minor faction no more no less. Try the enclave remnants rookies ;).

10/10. I'm a big fallout games fan and this is the best fallout game ever made. The map, the music, the story, the characters, the guns. EVERYTHING is perfect. As of now I played this game for 150h and I will 100% play 150h more.

The gameplay is fun the story is engaging but holy shit the bugs I have just started playing and I've already gotten five crashes, and I have mods that are supposed to nullify that

One of the ultimate replay games. Immersive and your choices actually matter. Modding pretty much required at this point for a stable game. Recommended to anyone who values story and choice over modern graphics/combat system.
