It’s the kind of town where you dig your own grave prior to being shot in the head and left for dead…and that’s before things really get ugly. It’s a town of dreamers and desperados being torn apart by warring factions vying for complete control of this desert oasis. It’s a place where the right kind of person with the right kind of weaponry can really make a name for themselves, and make more than an enemy or two along the way.
As you battle your way across the heat-blasted Mojave Wasteland, the colossal Hoover Dam, and the neon drenched Vegas Strip, you’ll be introduced to a colorful cast of characters, power-hungry factions, special weapons, mutated creatures and much more. Choose sides in the upcoming war or declare “winner takes all” and crown yourself the King of New Vegas in this follow-up to the 2008 videogame of the year, Fallout 3.
Enjoy your stay.
Key Features
Feel the Heat in New Vegas! Not even nuclear fallout could slow the hustle of Sin City. Explore the vast expanses of the desert wastelands – from the small towns dotting the Mojave Wasteland to the bright lights of the New Vegas strip. See the Great Southwest as could only be imagined in Fallout.Feuding Factions, Colorful Characters and a Host of Hostiles! A war is brewing between rival factions with consequences that will change the lives of all the inhabitants of New Vegas. The choices you make will bring you into contact with countless characters, creatures, allies, and foes, and determine the final explosive outcome of this epic power struggle.
New Systems! Enjoy new additions to Fallout: New Vegas such as a Companion Wheel that streamlines directing your companions, a Reputation System that tracks the consequences of your actions, and the aptly titled Hardcore Mode to separate the meek from the mighty. Special melee combat moves have been added to bring new meaning to the phrase “up close and personal”. Use V.A.T.S. to pause time in combat, target specific enemy body parts and queue up attacks, or get right to the action using the finely-tuned real-time combat mechanics.
An Arsenal of Shiny New Guns! With double the amount of weapons found in Fallout 3, you’ll have more than enough new and exciting ways to deal with the threats of the wasteland and the locals. In addition, Vault-Tec engineers have devised a new weapons configuration system that lets you tinker with your toys and see the modifications you make in real time.
Let it Ride! In a huge, open world with unlimited options you can see the sights, choose sides, or go it alone. Peacemaker or Hard Case, House Rules, or the Wild Card - it’s all in how you play the game.

this game is so simultaneously incredible and horrible at the same time
you need mods to play this on modern hardware and have a good time
Who should rule the most and last successful city on earth (Las Vegas for some reason)
- Corrupt neo-democrats (ofc their from California) who 'accidentally' did manifest destiny and other expansionist things (Sustainable growth)
- Andrew Tate (but old and in his fifties) and the sigma males (There all secretly gay) (ofc their from Arizona)
- The House (literally)
- Afghanistan
You MUST decide.
Put simply - one of the greatest RPG's of all time. There's nothing else quite like New Vegas with it's RPG, aesthetics, story, characters. It's a game you have to experience at least once.
Ok, do not take the negative rating as a solid negative. New Vegas is a timeless classic that will forever and always hold a special place in my heart.
DO NOT RISK MODDING THIS GAME. Unless you have the right hardware or know what you're doing, I honestly do not recommend modding the game. It's spaghetti code at its finest because of Bethesdum's unnecessary crunch on Obsidian, and their own failure to even attempt to maintain the game. I'm barely running 30 mods, none of them super taxing on my system, and I'm crashing every thirty minutes, and it's to the point where my laptop has to be restarted sometimes. It took me four hours to complete a quest that'd normally take me 20 minutes. What the fuck.
Ever since I first held the Platinum Chip that came with my friend's deluxe version of this game in 2010, I knew it was my dream in life to be shot twice in the head, and then lobotomized.
The Angry Mailman of The Mojave stops for nothing.
Bear&Bull/10, Ring-a-ding-ding.
Two ending in and I think this is definitely my favorite fallout comparing this one to fallout 3 and even (76) this one is much more immersive and fun to play while the two other ones sometimes feel like a drag on quests in vegas every quest is great and I was never bored.👍 Also one of the easily modfable fallout.
RIP
Amazing RPG, but doesnt seem to be playable any more. Constant crashing and freezing issues. And cant use task manager to end it, i have to restart my pc. Tried all the mods for bug fixes and even followed some newer tutorials to mod it. It seems to have made it even worse. As much as i love it and want to play it again im going to have to call it quits. Im lucky if i get 5 minutes in before i have to restart my pc because of a crash/freezing issue. So, again,
RIP
good game, well written. lots of bugs but it doesn't matter because you can fix it with mods.
I would love to recommend this phenomenal game to anyone, but it simply does not work on modern hardware. I've tried mod fixes, I've tried changing steam launch settings, I've done everything under the sun, but ever since getting a new computer running Windows 11 it has not even gotten past the launcher. I know this will never be fixed by the developers, so I cannot in good faith recommend this game in the state it's in.
It will not let me load or continue saved games. I get sick of playing the opening couple of missions over and over and....
Super fun game! Many different ways to play and tons of different choices in your play-through. Lots of bugs and crashes though, however that's expected as its a OLD game. If you can look past that its definitely worth playing. Would recommend some QOL mods too ie. Sprinting, descriptive inventory etc.
Have fun!!
Love this game so much but it has stopped working as soon as loading screens show up any help would be very apperciated. PS cant Spell
Muy bueno, no esta bueno que no me pueda cojer a los que parecen zombies pero aparte de eso alta experiencia solo que se me crasheo 15 veces en 20 minutos
This is an awesome, mature game. Prepare to be forced to remember who is who and where they are located.
Great game, especially if you are a fan of Fallout games. And or games designed with the assistance of Oblivion. IMO this is one of the best Fallout Games.

great but be sure play it with patches as it crashes all the time
Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout game of the 3D era, and is one of my top 5 games.
The world, already built upon with the previous games, is packed with a bunch of stories and lore for you to discover. The character you make has reasonable progression (if you mess with the difficulty or get rid of DLC weapons). The numerous stats available for customization, like in previous games, allows for a wide range of builds and replayability.
The story is great, and generally goes from small-scale to large-scale.
Fallout: New Vegas is good at reflecting player choice. What you put into the game comes back to you and your character, especially in terms of how factions react and how the story wraps up.
Replayability and functionality is only improved with modding, which often changes the experience of the whole game for the better.
Overall, I definitely recommend you try this game out.
very fun. its so dense with content. I cant believe i waited so long to play it, but it still holds up in 2024. graphics are a little less than what i want, but its nice the load times take 2 seconds. great gameplay, definitely would recommend. gonna keep playing until Stalker 2 goes on sale
If you can conquer the massive hurdle that is getting a pre Skyrim SE Bethesda RPG to launch and run on modern systems then you get what I honestly might say is a 10/10 RPG experience. If I didn't have so much nostalgic love for Fallout 3 this game would easily be my all time favorite.
Arguably the most famous/infamous Fallout game depending on what you've heard of it, the entirety of the series and fanbase, Fallout: New Vegas is definitely something I'd recommend for anyone who wants to get started with the Fallout franchise or wants to play a Western, open-world RPG that lets you finish quests however you see fit. Unfortunately, it's quite an old game and compared to FO3: GOTY you'll need to mod it lightly if you want to play it vanilla-style with minor crashes or any mods of your choosing.
This game is amazing BUT be warned...
it might not work without mods...
I had already read a comment claiming this before buying the game but figured I would do it anyways. Once bought, no problems for like the first 10 hours, maybe two crashes after hours of playing. However from there on it kept crashing sooner and sooner and I couldn't get 5 minutes of playtime before it crashed.
Tried asking for a refund but was turned down as I had played it too long. It should be illegal to sell a game that does not work on its own. As my refund request was turned down, I figured I might as well bother trying to mod the game to get to work and after hours of trying out different mods I eventually found one that fixed the problem.
I now have 80+ hours in the game. I loved it and would recommend it if it worked as bought off steam...
Played this game many times before on various other platforms.
Not entirely sure why this is happening but essentially it appears that 'game crashing' is a known issue.
I am not going to recommend, because honestly I am not one to 'back' a game that is playable only through modding.
Though New Vegas is a wonderful Fallout game and I looked forward to playing it through again...
the game crashed 4 maybe 5 times within the last 6 hours of game play.
I refreshed / reinstalled the files and still got crashed loading between zones.
With a game of this size, I do not have the time to be researching how to fix game crashes and honestly don't feel like 'editing / modding' just to enjoy a game that should be playable 'out of the box'.
I do not support 'fixing to play games' I paid for the game and it should be playable.
Love this game. The characters interactions (personal and on a large scale) is what sets this game apart from other Fallout stuff and it really shows. You really spend ur time scratching ur beard and philosophizing on what to do at times, as it really feels like you are making important decisions.
One of the all time greats!!!!!! Though I never played it without modding the shit out of it.
Writing down my bare minimum* mod list here for future reference:
Viva New Vegas
Building Bridges (Asynchronous Multiplayer)
Fixed Standalone Frontier Cars
JIP Companions Command and Control
Radiant Infinium - Endless Questing Framework
Subjugation - Capture Mechanics

Simple Open Freeside
Simple Open Strip
Killable Children
Postal PISS
Postal KICK
Movable Bodies
Alex Jones InfoWarrior Companion Mod

TYPE4 - Female Body and Armors
Robert S - Male Body Replacer (BodySlide-BP-BB)
*bare minimum meaning excluding the sex stuff
The definitive Fallout experience:
If you're looking to get into the franchise for the first time, or are already a fan of the franchise but haven't given New Vegas a go, I would highly recommend this game. For example if you've only ever played the classic games, this game acts as an almost direct sequel to fallout 2, taking some characters and plot threads from that game, and expanding upon them here as a sort of finale to the west coast chapter of this franchise. If you're a Fallout 3 fan, and want to experience West Coast fallout, but can't quite get into the isometric games, Fallout New Vegas has you covered since it runs on the same engine and has the same mechanics as Fallout 3. If you're a fan of Fallout 4, and want to experience
I have played the game with a SINGULAR crash. I have no mods or anything to prevent it and I have suffered zero consequences with around 100 hours of no problems. I think I accidentally maxed out luck in real life.
game is litterally unplayable
crashes constantly and all atempts to fix it are met with failure. if anyone has any idea how to get it to not do this, i would love an answer, otherwise, its refund time
fuck you bethesda, fix your shitty game
Decide to replay the game with mods (including a weather mod)
Sandstorm starts
Decide to wait out the sandstorm in a nearby cave
The cave has a creepy vault entrance
I go into the vault and its completely empty with the exception of a couple enemy creatures
Decide to look deeper into the story of the vault
Find out a gruesome story about how every year the vault residents had to offer a sacrifice or else everyone would be killed
Decide to dig deeper
Find out that this vault was a social experiment and if there wasn't a sacrifice nothing would happen
Only 5 residents actually survived to find this out
Quickly run outside the vault after finding out this insanely gruesome story
Sandstorm is over
10/10 storytelling
Best first person RPG of all time hands down.
Fallout: New Vegas will remain as my all time favorite Fallout game and video game that has ever graced the shelves of the physical and digital world. So much so that Obsidian has never seemed to make anything worth writing home about again. (Sorry Obsidian). Anyway I thought about making a joke review but I can't bring myself to do it for something that has brought me immense joy. Look up any retrospective on YouTube to see why this game is so great. I also wanted to say that I didn't initially like FNV but upon forcing myself to get to the areas around the strip I fell in love with it, so get passed Novac at least people! Another thing is it has aged poorly in the technical side of things so don't give up instantly but it will crash here and there for everyone!
if you love games with replayability then this is the game for you currently on my 3rd run and its still just as fun as the first one
Played the game without any dlcs or mods.
It's really fun to play at times, graphics are a bit dated but the dialogue is fun and I believe this game holds up to this day.
There is a shit ton of glitches that can make the game difficult to play at times.
Overall pretty fun to play.
Fun game with many different endings. I have replayed it many times and still enjoy coming back to it. Some issues with crashes but not bad.
A masterclass in gaming, actiona rpgs, Bethesda games, and Fallout games. How they did not try to absorb Obsidian Entertainment after this game I will not know. Maybe it's the same reason they didn't give the team behind it their bonus. Nowadays we look back on this game very fondly, but it received a rather luke-warm response on release. Like, i understand everyone was still coming off the high of Fallout 3 but that game is a laughable grey mess after experiencing this game. It's one of the few times in gaming that solving conflicts with words was actually satisfying, because i had genuinely become invested in the decisions of characters in the world. They felt so REAL that I wanted to know SO BADLY what they thought about different things. And the setup for the plot is so instantly gripping and iconic that i want nothing more than to see Benny's face in the god damn ground, and the writers have the AUDACITY and not to mention the talent to make me second guess that decision when it comes time to make it. I have yet to fully experience the DLCs, so I won't comment on them yet, but the base game experience here is SO GOOD on it's own that I doubt any of them could be bad enough to drag that down. The day i completed my first playthrough it was an instant addition to my top 10. The only issues that give me any sort of grief, I luckily can fix with mods. I highly recommend the Open Strip (if you can find it) and a sprint mod of some kind. Outside of that, i can't really find a flaw.
9/10 without mods
10/10 with mods.
I played for 9 hours straight the first time I booted this up. Buy the game.
The only thing I warn of is that this game is a buggy piece of shit and crashes more the better computer you have, so save often and be prepped for glitches.
Also get someone to guide you through the first bit of the game if you have the option, it helps a lot since you're kinda thrown into the deep end for the most part.
Anyways buy the damn game.
Probably a nice game, but i did not receive the game displayed here.
Due to my IP being German i receive the German version of the game, which has a few issues:
* even though my entire system is set to English everything is in extremely bad German (even the German people i asked have no idea what kind of game-setting "Bildschirmeffekte Hochdynamikbereich" is supposed to be) and well a rpg kind of relies on text. it would also be nice to know how to save the game (maybe its "datadata").
* modding does not work at all. NVSE tells me to find a patch, which converts it to the normal version, but the download links no longer work (and also are random exe files from entrusted sources).
* the graphic is dated without mods and the German version has always had worse graphics anyway. so its not a "the game-play is bad, but its nice to look at" either.
its nice for a laugh about the extremely bad language, but i can get that for free from other games.
why do i have 5 hours of playtime? first i tried to play it like a justcause game and then i tried to either mod or patch it for probably 8 IRL hours.
There is not much more that I could add to the conversation. Everybody know this is a great game. It's possibly one of the greatest games in gaming.
It has a captivating story that gives you a wide range of options. The writing is some of the best the series has to offer. The gunplay is fun, while a bit dated. And it has a community that puts endless effort into making mods to continue the lifespan of this game.
Highly recommend.
Fantastic game. I have a total of 76 hours on this game despite what it says on steam.
Pros:
Amazing world
Great characters
Great story
Very fun
Cons:
Some times you may come across on graphical bugs
And one commune issue is the game save bug, this is when the game is stuck on the loading screen when trying to load to a game save.
great story, awsome charicters, its really fun.
It's the best Fallout game, despite the gameplay improvements that Fallout 4 made. It's also $20.
its really awesome i like it and its really fun only downside for me is idk how to download mods so that part is pretty restricted
i lost all my money at the atomic cassino. worst game ever. i want a refund. also where is the option to kiss manny?
Game itself is fantastic but you need to download a lot of stability mods because it's optimised horribly for newer machines. Don't buy unless you're willing to mod the game
The best Fallout game in my opinion, amazing story, okay but dated gameplay, fantastic factions, a tone to do and explore, alot of player freedom and choice. And the best part is that it can be modded to your liking, using Vortex mod manager, the easiest way to mod the game/ Would highly reccomend giving New Vegas a try
One of the all times greats.
Most immersive game I've ever played, when i'm playing i feel like i'm impacting a real alive world.
Choosing how to affect the fate of the post-war mojave feels like a real big decision.
The guns are better than any other Fallout game (Fight me) they all click and are satisfying to shoot.
The RPG elements are great, bringing back traits from the first two fallout games and making the skills system (objectively)
better.
Only (minor) negative is the game crashes alot but that can be fixed easily with mods
Overall
10/10 Buy it right now
fantastic story and not too difficult once you get the hang of it. a classic with amazing DLC, EVERYONE should at least give this one good go I think. Modding it makes it even better, but I highly encourage a full vanilla run before tinkering!
Howdy pardner! 10/10 best Bethesda Fallout game which means it was in fact not developed by Bethesda. This game is the only 'modern' Fallout game that manages to combine the old Fallout style with a 3D world. Play this and pretend no newer games exist :) See ya round, buckaroo.
The game is good after you patch it (Viva new Vegas was my choice) the DLCs are good but the game itself gets boring the more i reach the end, it is a bethesda product and it shows.
Overall i give it a 7/10
Best Fallout game to date but is unplayable on modern machines. Goggle Viva New Vegas and follow it step by step to able to have an enjoyable experience.
love the game but I don't reccomend getting it from steam because they send you a version that you can't run, and need to make mods in order to actually play the game
Fallout: New Vegas belongs in the hall of fame of RPG games. My first game in the series was Fallout 4 and I really liked it. I would see Fallout: New Vegas every now and again on the Steam store but completely ignore it since it appeared outdated compared to 4. I was truly deceived.
Before I continue I want to mention that my playthrough was completely vanilla. I had no mods at all installed.
It took me a few hours to get into the momentum of this game. I was not super focused on the story or dialog, skipping through it in order to get to the action quicker. I kept thinking "These graphics suck" and "This gun play is lame." But on hour 4, something just clicked. I started reading the dialog, understanding the story, exploring and reading misc items. It all flowed so well, and not only that, it was fun. Learning about the different factions was genuinely interesting. Finding a random town, vault, camp, outpost, etc. they all felt unique. Every single character I came across had their own story and purpose, each offering different quests. Not only that, the world changes as you progress and you actually witness it in your surroundings.
The quests were actually good. The quests did not simply consist of "fetch me this" or "eliminate that." Each one had a plot, some even twists. A large majority of quests even let YOU decide how to play it through. There is optional objectives that will lead to a different end result. Sometimes you'd have to pick to help one over the other. You could use violence or you could be peaceful using speech. There are so many ways to go through each quest line which only allows for more replayability.
Compared to Fallout 4, this game's quests and world actually have a soul. (I do not mention this only to compare, but also because there are many Fallout 4 fans that might view New Vegas as outdated based off the Steam store.)
This is a must play game. If you are not used to games like this, it might take a few hours to truly invest yourself in it. Once you do though, you will enjoy every hour of it. Can't wait to play the DLC. 10/10
