Taking control of a single quark, you must negotiate the fundamental forces of the universe. Other particles will push and pull at you - you'll always be on the brink of losing control and being dragged towards annihilation!
Woven through the game is the story of Alison, a young physicist struggling to outrun her troubled past. Her journey through the subatomic world is drenched in memories (both good and bad), and will ultimately lead her to some powerful revelations.
Features
- Based on actual particle physics: Enter the world of sub-atomic particles and take part in the interactions between them.
- A puzzling narrative: Particulars is a game which blends arcade and puzzle gameplay with an engaging story about a troubled young scientist.
- Over 100 intriguing levels: Explore the four fundamental forces of the universe over ten chapters of increasingly complex play.
- Dig deeper: The Particlepedia provides information on each particle in the game, the differences between the game world and the real world, and links to other information sources.

Fun little puzzle game with a somewhat sad story. From what I made out, essentially you are a partical physicist who sneaks into a storage garage to play on a subatomic world simulator. In this simulation, you play as a down quark and you must solve puzzles prompted to you on screen, ensuring that you aren't annihilated or destroyed by other obstacles on screen. As you complete each puzzle, you learn more about what has happened in her (the physicist's life) and how she got to where she was at the start of the game and where she will go. After a certain number of puzzles, there is a cutscene relating to the present day, allowing the story to progress.
Furthermore, you get to learn more about the particles and other phenomena on screen and as a physics nerd I found that very neat.
The gameplay itself was kind of tough to get used to at first and as the levels became more complex, I did end up getting very frustrated. The game does offer a skip level option if one gets stuck but I was too stubborn to use it lol.
Overall enjoyed the game, but it is admittedly not the easiest to get into.
This Game is beautiful.
to the person who spat juice over their monitor after reading that last sentence, stop it you will break something.
but seriously i would challenge that person to give me the title of any game that involves water on water y got the story. as some who has painted in that style for a few years I would say that it is very hard and very beautiful to get right.
I loved the way they got the story across they didnt have long boring unskipable cutscenes. they just had her face and the emotions conveyed by it are beautiful and much better than having her spout her motivations ( lookin at you watchdogs) on a whim.
lastly to the people who argue that the controlls are difficult, that might be the point. it is a story about social anxeity and the difficulities of modern social etticette(sic), so every mission that seems like an escort mission is an analogy about protecting people and friends in the real world from people who are more "negitive". even though you yourself are "negitive".
in short I can't force you to play this game (yet) but you will be missing out on what might be my personal favourite game of all time.
Touching story that felt much like reading a book. Don't confuse the lessons or gameplay with actual subatomic interactions, as authentic as they tried to be.
Sometimes things can be quarky (I'm sorry, I'll stop the pun) and I had issues picking the game up after being totally engrossed by the story for an hour a day, for a week.

Particulars is a beatuiful, heartfelt, and very emotional story, set to a challenging yet wonderfully fun puzzle game. The gameplay is original and really makes a perfect representation of the story, and all the strifes. The story itself, however, is, honestly, the best part. It's a bit confusing, in that it jumps dates a bit, but it's very heartfelt, and i loved it. I would absolutely play more things like this.
A game for hipsters. Quite primitive mechanics that suits to a free browser game but with stupid abstruse chatter between levels.
Quite enjoyable game, does a moderate job of easing the player into the increasingly complicated controls, though the introduction of the weak force could probably have been more gradual (I found myself constantly referencing the particlepedia for how to evolve between types of quarks). Story leans more towards the background, but is good without distracting from gameplay.
Would recomend to any science buff with a fondness for particle physics.
I just got this game as a birthday present and I have to say I really like it! the art style is simplistic and the actual game-play is lots of fun! However, before you buy this game it may not be a requirement but you really want to have an interest in particle physics before picking up this game otherwise I can imagine people being VERY confused as to what is going on but like I said it's not a requirement you could still have plenty of fun playing this game without being interested in the science behind it.
Good concept, pretty good game 8/10.
The game play is ok, but I found that there was far too much focus on the story, which isn't that realated to the gameplay. Too much psychology, not enough physics.
A truly innovative take on games as a medium for telling stories, particulars is the story of a particle physicist looking inwards.
The main gameplay is an arcade style particle physics simulation - essentially marbles with magnets, explosions and puzzles. You don't need to know any science to play though, because the game teaches you everything experientially as you go.
Between levels, we see glimpses into the life of Allison, our deeply flawed but nonetheless inspiring protagonist. It seems that she's very good at particle physics, and would rather run simulations than deal with the strife and hardship that has beset her personal life.
You follow her emotional journey. Step by step unravelling clues of her life and psyche... all the while you play as her, running the simulation. In this way the game is a metaphor, as you look deeper into the soul of allison she looks deeper into the quantum world. As I said, this is a game about a particle physicist looking inwards.
Allison is an inspiring role model. She teaches us that it's ok to not have all your shit together, and that scientists are allowed to be human. Together with her friends and colleagues, this game also normalises the idea of successful women in science (Alison's mentor is female, and gives her career advice. That's right an indie arcade game passes the bechdel test) and shows us that you don't need a barbarian saving a princess to tell a compelling story. Like seriously, this game normalises both the idea of a female protagonist, and the idea of a scientist protagonist - these characters are just compellingly HUMAN, and a refreshing change from the testosterone charged male-jock protagonists most games present.
This game is a must have for science geeks, for anyone who cares about portrayal of women in media, and for anyone who wants to see games used as a medium for telling stories. Or for anyone who wants their kids to have positive attitudes towards any of those things.
Whether you enjoy physics or not it's a great game.
It's simple enough to understand, you can easily learn from it and it has a good narative, it's now nearly 4am and I can barely stop playing.
10/10
This is game simplistic and enjoyable. There are a few things that i don't know if are suppose to be that way or not, but all the problems are not in the game play and in more of hte cutscenes and vanity stuff like voice overs. The game play is easy to learn and it enjoy able. But what i find impressive is that the gameolay isn't connected to a plot but there are quotations and brief cutscenes that are impactful and paint a pretty clear picture of the main characters life, it may be simple quotations and cutscenes but they are impactful enough to make me sad and almost in tears. it is trully a game to play and it will make you feel.
This polished early access title lets you control one particle to guide others to safety or destruction while avoiding being annihilated yourself. A narrative is interleaved with the puzzles; although some artwork is incomplete, I found it engaging, especially in combination with the lovely soundtrack. I've been very happy with the purchase.
This game is really awesome. The story if follows is really original and so is the concept of being a particle floating around. I really like it. It might seem easy at first but it does get challenging after a few levels. It's not a game you'll get bored of easily since it's being updated regularly with new stuff.
The music and the graphics are really nice. I'm considering buying the Devotee pack :)
The game is fun, although some of the timed challenges are quite frustrating. Still, it has a great concept and I'd like to see how the backstory with Allison develops and relates to the gameplay.
It is awesome. Being the main target bashing protons and electrons together to create collisions and explosions, getting data, the amount of obstacles thrown at you. It's one of the best puzzle games I've ever played.
This game is a pretty good, no GREAT, game for an alpha.
It's peaceful, relaxing and very fun to play.
i would recommend this to you because its a cheap fun game with nice graphics and it starts slow then builds up the speed watch the trailer and you will be like WOW!
It was nice for abit, but it lost it's luster shortly after. I wouldn't recommend the game
