It's an okay puzzle platformer that draws from the so called cinematic platformers. It's cinematic alright and it does have it's smart moments, but most of the times you are left to your own devices and the physics engine's, you have to be perfectly still to use to magic pencil, and you know, that's what I hate about cinematic platformers: the lack of accuracy and timing. There were many times in which I died just because the stupid thing didn't work as intended. Also, the story, or lack of. There's barely a story. You can tell they just threw some character quirks and silly cliches (the evil wizard, the benevolent old lady, the cool kid stuff, etc.) just to see what sticks, but I do appreciate the 90's vibe and character design. It reminded me of the likes of Might Max and such, anyone remeber Mighty Max? No? Just me? Ok.
The game is OK-ish, not the best of it's kind but then again I'm not much of a fan of this genre. Thing is that it can't completely work when you are struggling with the very mechanics of the videogame. The final boss battle is quite smart tho.
3/5
A wonderful and magnificent platformer with excellent puzzles! A very beautiful and interesting game, in places it is very challenging if you want to collect all the trophies.
I strongly recommend it to everyone, especially to lovers of platformers with very interesting puzzles!

Platforming paradise… with a few quirk-induced faceplants! This game serves up a delightful romp through a vibrant, technicolor wonderland, rocking charmingly simple animations that scream ‘cute-but-not-too-cute.’ The upbeat soundtrack complements the experience, and the voice acting was an unexpected treat in a world of robotic NPC grunts.
Now for the glitches in the Matrix: apparently, the settings menu decided to take a vacation. No VFX sliders, no control tweaks—nada. Using a controller? Brace yourself, because your magic marker might feel like it's wading through molasses, and there's no sensitivity dial to save you. Prepare for moments of sheer frustration as your marker takes its sweet time moseying across the screen.
Puzzle-wise, it’s a friendly mix of 'Ah-ha!' and 'Nope, that's not how you do it,'. But hey, with a checkpoint system as generous as Santa Claus, replaying levels is no big deal.
Clocking in at just under 7 hours, the game doesn’t drag its feet. It’s a breezy experience that knows when to say goodbye, and honestly, I respect that. If you’re into platformers with a pinch of puzzling, this game might just be your jam—assuming you don’t rage quit over the unchangeable magic marker slog!"
I remember playing this on the Xbox when I played it back in 2015; I like screaming at my 7 year old self for not knowing what to do at the easiest parts and asking my dad to help me every 10 minutes, 9.5/10. Good game if you like puzzles and various escape sequences.
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
A surprise and pleasant discovery! Unique take on a puzzle-platformer genre where you overcome obstacles using a magic marker.
Graphics, despite being 10+ years old still hold decent. The music isn’t particularly memorable, and the story is basic, yet cohesive. The main purpose of the narrative is to introduce to the player new types of challenges culminating in the final boss fight.
The collectables are quite easily obtainable since you can pick and choose which chapter/episode to play, after you have completed it.
I played Max: The Curse of Brotherhood using gamepad, so can’t tell whether or not it is convenient to use the magic marker when playing using mouse and keyboard.
Overall, I sincerely enjoyed this game, and recommend it to anyone, who likes puzzle-platformers.
8,25/10

Eu estou rodando esse jogo com o Steam Play Proton no Linux Fedora 41 e estou amando jogar os jogos leves do Xbox no meu Linux um ótimo jogo de plataforma para relaxar.
very fun
fun little game
Great puzzle design, the solutions that you must come up with while using the marker and the different abilities are as challenging as they are fun. I played it with a Xbox Series controller and the drawing was fine, only a small portion of the puzzles required some precision and quick action (and there's also scripted slow motion for some of them). The visuals are good with different environments, and the story is simple without overreaching.
Note that getting all the collectables doesn't unlock anything extra, but the puzzles involved are quite fun.
One of my favorite games ever. I just cant explain how good it is.
I was hesitant to buy this game due to the mixed reviews, but I'm really glad I did. It captures that nostalgic platformer feel, but adds a fresh and creative twist with the marker mechanic. The marker brings a whole new layer to the platforming experience, making the gameplay much more engaging. The game also features stunning visuals and a distinctive art style that complements the overall experience beautifully. This game is a standout in the platformer genre, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of gameplay. I'm having a great time with it and I truly believe it deserves a much higher rating.
Простенька головоломка, можна пройти.
Є дрібні геймплейні проблеми, але то не значні недоліки.
made my nephew cry out of frustration but it was a nice game made some memories
This is one of the funnest games I've ever played. The first time I played it, it was too hard. Every subsequent time has been more enjoyable and, just like everything else, gets better with practice. Almost addictive.
great game! fun to play with siblings!
