Interesting game. Deeper than first appeared. I would like if this was expanded upon.
An enjoyable simplistic colony sim that should provide you with about 2 to 3 hours of entertainment.
It comes with three game modes: Normal, Plus and Zen. I did not notice any differences between the first two game modes. I did not try the Zen game mode, but i assume it has no enemy waves attacking your base.
The game could have been improved by including a tactical pause button (I don't understand why not every RTS game has these by default these days). Some rogue-lite elements to improve the game's replay value would also have been neat.
there's just hardly anything here. there's only one enemy, only one weapon, the tetris shaped blocks are the only interesting thing, and that honestly doesn't change much in the end. there is no goal or objective, you just sit around while waiting for triangles to show up. The ai is terrible, every single unit will walk to do something even if there's only one item to pickup or use. the game isn't minamalistic, its just extremely shallow.
It's a fun concept with good visuals and audio if you don't mind the cost (I picked it up for $2, so I don't mind recommending it), but there are some problems that aren't likely to be fixed given that it's already 10 years old. Due to these issues I don't see why anyone would spend more than a couple hours on this game.
* When a pawn is assigned any task, the manager doesn't consider path length to complete the task from the current position when determining which specific assignment in that category the pawn receives. This results in pawns wasting time moving towards distant tasks rather than completing closer tasks.
* When a pawn is assigned a supply task, the manager doesn't seem to check whether other pawns are already handling that task. This lets some locations go without supplies while pawns working towards a supply task completed by a different pawn simply drop their inventory and go to pick up new supplies when the task is completed without them.
* Later in the game when pawn casualties start piling up, there is only one quarters location that accepts food supply and it stops accepting food supply while generating a new pawn. This makes it impossible to recover if more than one pawn dies per wave of enemies, which feels like a very artificial sort of difficulty.
