Barbie Project Friendship™

I wouldn't recommend this game for most people, even for most kids. If I had a niece or nephew who was into Barbie, I wouldn't buy them this game at full price, maybe not even half price.

The controls are fine, and I like that you can make them easier in the options menu. I also like that you can turn on Auto-Win for minigames. This does make it an easier game to let kids play by themselves.

But yall, be honest. It's pretty boring. Walking from place to place takes forever. Sometimes people and objects are not where you expect, and I doubt all young users would pick on the map being helpful in locating them. Several objects aren't signposted by the game's hints, and even I got frustrated searching sometimes.

I don't think this gameplay loop would hook any gamer above the age of 5. Cleaning the areas is fun the first time, and the minigames (can) be fun initially, but they have little replay value. There are only two minigame types, and they aren't very dynamic.

The story is just a means to move you from place to place and tell funny one liners, which isn't bad for the youngest kids. But makes it an even harder sell for that older elementary school audience who might want drama or twists.

Unlocking all of the items *is* fun, and I'm glad theres no paywall. However, after an hour or two I'd imagine any determined kid would have earned every item this game has to offer.

I think this is an eight - ten hour experience if you try to do everything in this game, and I just don't know if that's worth forty dollars. The novelty of a modern barbie game doesn't make up for the fact that this feels like a cobbled together licensed game.

If you want your kid to be able to customize an island there are so, so, so many other games that fill that fill this niche, on Steam, Switch, and Mobile. If you want your kid to specifically play a Barbie game there are old platformers and DS dress up games and web games for them to get a pretty equivalent experience. This game is, sadly, unremarkable, and doesn't do anything the 'best' compared to the wider gaming market.

We finally have a Barbie game back on Steam, fam!

Barbie's return to videogame has been a succes. The game is great, fun and perfectly adapted to its audience, the mini games are often easy QTE's but main ones are defferents and realy fun.

Barbie is back and it's a success, I hope that this game will make good money because it deserves it and that the devs will be able to envisage a second game with more funds.

The controls work great both with a controller and a mouse & keyboard. The graphics are not the best graphics out there, but they are certainly good enough to impress any young lady who loves Barbie. The sound effects are well done, and the voice acting, while not great to me as an adult, are just fine considering the target audience.

There is plenty of story and text chat the user can read and listen to. There are lots of objectives and quests to achieve with the goal always being shown in the upper left corner of the screen. It's not ever difficult to know what your current objective is. Some mini games might take a few tries to succeed at, but there is nothing in this game that seems overly difficult.

In the end, this game is a lot better than I expected it to be. Granted, it's not a game I'm going to play because I am not the person this game was designed for being an adult male gamer. The target audience is obviously young girls and perhaps even young teenage girls and considering that, I think this game is going to be loved by those who love Barbie dolls.

I do take away a little bit of potential score because it does not have 'online' co-op so you can play with a friend outside of your home and Steams remote play is not nearly as good as genuine online co-op built into the game. I personally have a few minor nit-picks, such as the price tag seeming a little high. But you can purchase this game for about the same price as just two of the higher quality Barbie dolls on the market, so that definitely seems fair.

I DO want to say that the at the launch price point of $40 USD is just fine because the game has NO in game micro-transactions and that's a TOTAL WIN for any parent Do make sure that you make good note of that! They could have totally loaded this game with tons of micro-transactions but they didn't do that, (at least not yet anyhow) so I'll give them a huge "hooray" for that!

RECOMMENDED for any young Barbie loving young gal. I give the game a rock solid 7.5 out of 10.. and trust me that's a great score coming from an adult male. The target audience for this game will probably give this game a 12 out of 10 score and also give you a massive hug and kiss on your cheek if you buy it for them, and as any parent knows... that's worth almost any price right?
