Amazing. I cant get over it, it is the first game that made me feel emotions other than rage
Very surprised that there are still people playing. That, and you should play and buy it. Very good for the experience
What a fantastic, atmospheric experience!
I remember buying this game when I was a child, going home and start playing it with my sister, it was such a experience, the second game that truly made and impact on me.
Now I've replayed it, and GODDAMM it still holds the same impact, and the gameplay hasn't aged a single bit.
What beautiful music and graphics.
And the lore... now I get it (compared to when I was a kid), we're walking on the ruins of a modern world consumed by its creations and destroyed by the wars for resources.
It truly is an experience that I recommend to anyone anytime.
Is it worth the 13,99€, it depends on how you value a game, if you want to sink in hundreds of hours, then no. But if you want to live a marvelous experience, then yes, TOTALLY.
Remember that you can split the 13,99€ with your steam family, then it's less than 3€... which makes it worth either way...
the story here is told in such a simple manner yet it is so beautiful and effective
incredibly short but a very moving art piece, really lovely to experience
i firmly believe this is the perfect game. i hit the credits three times in one night and still got emotional. i think this is a mandatory human experience
very nice and neat.
One of the first indie games i played, and i decided to play it again after over 10 years. Still holds up to this day
9/10 why cant i do direct co op after i finshed the game. Bc achievemts and stuff
Very beautiful artwork and soundtrack. Very short tho. But also very beautiful.
So yea... This game is literally the equivalent of an interactive roller coaster. Expect a lot of walking simulators, abusing the QR code button to talk to other random players you'd find along your journey who also happens to speak in QR, a very short segment of trying to hide away from a giant monster who'd pwn you if you touch its spotlight (but with basically zero consequences if you did get pwned anyways), and tons and tons and tons of sightseeing at fancy views, bunch of glowing lights, and QR code particles. Pretty alright "game", I guess, if you're the kind of person who gets off from sightseeing. 🤷♂️
I had heard about the game after watching a play-through of Abzu (similar game). It was an absolute pleasure to get to play this for the first time. Returning to it again later is also not nearly as but still rewarding. The shortness of the game, in my opinion, is not a negative but a positive. It allows you to finish the story in one go, maximizing the experience of transitioning from start to finish. Plus, the soundtrack is completely worth listening to outside the game! 10/10
Saying that this game is chill is an understatement! It is also incredibly beautyful! This game is an experience. It encourages you to explore. It is extremely replayable.
beautiful, never stopped smiling, perfect length
9.5/10
I've played this game a few times through the years and while short it's wonderful. It's like chicken noodle soup for the soul. The music is a very clear stand out amongst everything else. Definitely a must play if you catch it on sale.
The person who played at 04:00 Kiev time 25.03.2025 ( that is about half an hour ago), I am very sorry that I was blown away by a snowstorm in the textures of the game and I could not get out, it was very pleasant, thank you very much for your patience! Loss of contact in game is taken as a personal loss.

A Journey of Reflections
The Beginning of the Journey
Journey holds a special place in my heart, it was the first game I ever purchased online on my PS3. I still remember the exciting moment, the simple act of buying the game from the PlayStation Store, not knowing that it would open up a whole new world for me. That purchase marked the beginning of a journey (Pun Intended)
Discovery
From the moment I set foot on those vast, sunlit sands, Journey transcended what I expected from a game. It wasn’t merely about reaching a destination, it was about the experience of travel itself. The shifting landscapes, the mysterious ruins, and the endless sky overhead. Every time I played, I unravelled a little more of its enigma, exploring every nook and cranny, and piecing together a narrative that was felt more than understood. Every detail, every twist in the landscape, felt like a new discovery. The atmosphere of Journey is profound and immersive.
Feeling
The Soundtrack holds its own among the greatest pieces of musical work ever created. It doesn’t merely complement the experience; it becomes a part of it, evoking emotions with each note that I can still feel in my chest, even after all these years. In those moments, the world of Journey feels both expansive and intimate.
Journey has one of the most powerful atmospheres I’ve ever encountered. It’s an atmosphere of quiet awe, of wonderment, of being small in a vast, almost spiritual world. Every moment spent in Journey feels like a meditation, each step forward guiding you through a journey not just in the game world, but within yourself.
Connection Beyond Words
The online connectivity, too, is something that adds a unique layer to the experience. Multiplayer is often about constant interaction and communication. Journey does something radically different. You meet another player randomly & anonymously and you travel together, without ever saying a word. You share this quiet connection, fleeting and ephemeral. There’s no way to find them again, no way to keep in touch, just the memory of that brief Journey you shared (On the PS3 at Least) And yet, that’s what makes it special. It’s a reminder that not every connection in life needs to be permanent to have meaning. It’s one of the things that stays with me most, even all these years later.
Rebirth
Journey has been my third favourite game since its release, and I’ve returned to it countless times. Though I don’t play it as often now, its echoes remain with me. It’s a game that lingers in the corners of my mind, not just because of its beautiful world or its quiet storytelling, but because it resonates with something deeper in me. Something I never knew games could do before I played Journey. No other game, no other online feature, no other atmosphere has come close to replicating what Journey did for me. It’s not just a game. It’s a work of art. A memory that I’ll always hold close. A unique experience that could not be replicated again.
It might not be my favorite game now, but I got this game free on playstation as a kid and it really opened my eyes to artsy, stylized, indie games I've grown to love.
It is a stunning, emotional adventure with beautiful visuals, an incredible soundtrack, and a unique multiplayer experience. When I started I had a buddy come along and I thought its AI lol. Getting to know its an actual person But then had a blast throughout the game with him was a rich experience. The only downside is it is very short like 2-3 hours which did not appeal me at all. Regarding Annapurna Int. having gorgeous visuals with their games it had little replay value, and some may find the slow pacing dull. Still, its atmosphere and storytelling make it worth playing—8/10.
Very nice game, pretty, fun, not too long :) Thanks to the companion I met in the underground area earlier today, I appreciate your presence <3 Have a pleasant day!
its actually fun unlike fortnite (sub to noobscoe for yearly marvel rivals content)
Really special game. It might not jump out, because it's all seamless, but all the little elements of design come together beautifully to create something great. The gameplay itself is basic, the puzzles are simple. But the interactions with companions are really unique. The communication barrier, the slight nervousness, uncertainty about possible misunderstandings, which then give way to camaraderie and connection. No competitiveness, not much potential for disagreement, no preconceptions about the other person, just two humans taking in the experience - brought together through linguistic distance. Really beautiful stuff. I can't imagine many players come out feeling negative things about the other player, and at least for me the game made me feel warm and connected. Immediately reached to my companion to thank them for tagging along. I just really regret not finishing the game with my first companion, I had to take a break, but I wish they were there at the end too. After finishing I bought a copy for a person close to me, because I want them to experience it too.
I especially like how the whole package is so well thought-through, and every element works. The game couldn't be harder, because that would create more stress and expectation to perform for the other player (and another good decision - the companion is so useful that even newbies are mechanically better than nothing most of the time). Couldn't be longer, because it would be hard to find companions, and the simplicity would make it drag, plus it would make completing a journey with one person very improbable. Couldn't have more elaborate communication for obvious reasons. And the music + the sights are beautiful, which makes the whole thing super enjoyable.
Sure, it's not revolutionary anymore, but I can't imagine what it must have been like at the time. This is the kind of game that makes you want to share your thoughts, and I understand why every games journalist would want to write a thinkpiece when this came out. But even now it's just a complete package, with every element tuned to work together, creating a subtle masterpiece - beautiful and extremely affecting. Fully worth the price.
Beautiful, if I was only to describe it in one word. But in many? A game with beautiful environments, even though you cannot speak to other players in the game you feel attached to them like your best friend and you feel pain when separated. The game is amazing and deserves all the praise it gets, truly proof that games can be art.
I have a personal list of 5 or 6 mistakes PC developers make, which absolutely destroy any enjoyment I have in their game. Journey makes 3 of them: 1.) Not allowing controls to be rebound or altered (in this case it was the inverse camera, which plagued me all game), 2) Not explaining basic game mechanics, and 3.) Not being clear about how to progress.
Despite those sins, I actually finished this game. And for that I’ll give it a reluctant thumbs up. Granted, I had almost no fun playing this game. I mostly just moved and jumped in whatever general direction I thought the level “goal” was. But the fact that Journey could break so many of my “I hate when games do this” rules, and still motivate me enough to complete it – well that deserves some recognition.
A note about price: my one (and only) playthrough lasted only 2 hours, so measure your value accordingly.
I am finding myself playing with clunky af controls, frequent game crashes, graphics that break the game like turning on vsync on high-end pc makes the experience extremely bad and stuttery.
Gameplay-wise, you could end the game by basically taping the forward button in the joystick.
I don't mind these weird games as long as you have a great experience playing them but the stutter and clunkyness was so bad I probably will not play it again and this game will just sit in my library forever.
I'm not sure whether it's trying to sync to a low tps server or what but this thing ain't working.
I had high hopes for this and, maybe, had it not been for technical issues, I would've even enjoyed the game. But currently, it's not running smoothly on a i9-14900k / rtx 4090 setup. You draw your own conclusions.
I don't usually give reviews but I think this game stole my breath way. It can be completed within 2 hours but it doesn't make the game any less fantastic. The music and visuals are stunning; each time something epic is about to happen, you'd feel it deep within your bones. I like how simplified everything is, from the game play to the controls (only two buttons). There were no tutorials per se, no words.
I had the chance to meet a random traveller, didnt know his/her name, no way to chat.. but it was pure trust and support. We kept "chiming" to each other and somehow, no words were needed to convey our intention. Its beautiful. This is co-gaming at its finest. I only got to know the companion's name at the end of the journey.
To Houn: whoever you are, thank you.
Firstly, I would like to start off by saying that this game will forever be, until the end of days, my favorite game of all time. Full stop. Nothing will ever change that and I overwhelmingly encourage anyone and everyone to play this game at their nearest opportunity. This game, to me, is a life-changing experience and I wholeheartedly recommend it to you and anyone in your life, gamer or not, to especially play it cooperatively if you have the means.
That being said, I need to point out that this version of the game feels like the most inferior port that I, a longtime veteran, find to be incredibly frustrating. Turning off the v-sync in this game will consistently crash the game after an introductory sequence to a certain entity in level 4, the sand walking sound effects, certain chirp sound files, and symbol pickup sound effects sound noticeably bit-crushed and worse than in other ports of the game, sometimes the cloth physics don't know what to do and flail way too much, the whiteout sequence right before the game ends shows the ground before the credits begin, some sound queues for certain sequences (both SFX and music) are non-existent or happen later than they should, the network latency sometimes make the NPC entities rubberband to different places or make certain sequences straight up not happen or happen out of your control when you don't realize it, some entities may not interact with you at all even if you call to them, the high winds sequence in level 6 doesn't feel as loud nor as impactful as other versions, and I'm sure much more bugs that I'm either not aware of or am currently forgetting.
If you haven't played this game yet and you only own a PC, definitely play this game. These rather small nitpicks aside, it is still a wonderful game with small bugs that don't hamper the enjoyment of the game (aside from the v-sync issue), especially if you don't know what to expect like I do. But, if you have a PS4/PS5, play it on there instead (if you're fine with 60 FPS and very minor technical hiccups compared to the PS3). If you have a PS3, DEFINITELY play it on there (if you "certain individuals" can stomach 30 FPS). Here's how I'd rank the versions of the game from most tightly formed to least steady: PS3 > PS4/PS5 > PC.
Again, don't let this rather nitpick-y rant take away from the fact that this is still an incredible game and one that I, without a doubt, recommend. It's just that I needed to at least vent about this because I wish this port was done better rather than haphhazardly. Even so, it's a 10/10 game that I still recommend.
I just finished playing Journey after I had originally seen and played it a bit when I was younger on the PlayStation 3 and then 13 years later I got it on steam since I have loved the soundtrack of this game since then.
I felt emotional lots through out the game especially near the end.
This game is a form of expression through the visuals and soundtrack, It makes me incredibly happy that people working together can create something so special that will stay timeless forever <3
10/10 would recommend everyone to experience this.
This game made me cry, lmao
Play this game by yourself, headphones on, no interruptions, no discord, no other distractions; just you & this game and I guarantee you that you'll have one of the most heartwarming, soulful experiences you could ever find.
I feel like I died with a stranger and we transcended into a beautiful existence beyond life together.
It's hard to believe Journey is 13 years old already. Ever since the release of the original, many indies have tried to capture the magic and emotion of this game, but very few have succeeded. The visuals, the art direction, the atmosphere, the loneliness, the mystery and the music all come together to create an adventure that may stick with you for the rest of your life.
I recently picked up the PC port and the game looks and runs better than ever, and it's still just as engaging and impactful as that first playthrough. It feels good to play on mouse & keyboard, and I had a silky smooth 120fps all the way through, zero stutters or bugs.
A true timeless classic and one of the best indies ever made, warmly recommended!
I love this game. It doesn't require much brain power and looks good, id say buy it on sale as you're getting about 1.5 hours of gameplay from the main "story" but if you want to do achievements probably closer to 6h depending on how long you take to do them all.
This game is beautiful. The ending was made even better because I got there with another stranger and we got separated so much, but we got there together. When the ending was playing out, we walked away together, and this was when our shapes created something that resembled the place we were trying to get to in the first place, which is a pretty awesome symbolic coincidence.
A game with a soul unlike all the live service games out today, this game has aged like fine wine and is still a masterpiece to this day.
It's everything I wanted in a PC Port. The same game, the same community, the same bugs.
Despite the start up menu saying you need a controller it works perfectly fine with keyboard and mouse. There are a lot of players even now in Feb 2025 when I wrote this review. It's not just a game, it's an experience. Nothing has ever scratched the same itch as this game.
At the time, when consoles still had exclusives and were worth buying, I bought a PS3 to play some of those juicy exclusives. Most were plain average, but one did stood out. It was Journey. A marvelous experience that still looks, plays and feels amazing nowadays proving it is really a small piece of videogaming art. It's still amazing almost 15 years later.
Involves Enemy Evasion
A really beautiful game, which has you collecting little fragments of a ribbon which power your ability to navigate and power gates in a haunting dry landscape. It's a really nice game, smooth controls and all.
But does require you have good reactions and patience to get some of the sequences just right, so ultimately not suited to people who are not that quick. I played this game ages ago, cannot recall much more, but it is definitely relaxing up to the later areas which sadly turn it competitive. [/i]Note, if a friend joins you, they can assist you past some of the harder bits, and that's a fun part to the game in that if you near the end of a area and retrace your steps, you can go and help others progress. [/i] A very well thought out game.

Very pretty walking simulator type game. Visually very beautiful, although you do get flash banged pretty badly by the loading screens between chapters lol. There’s no talking in the game and very few directional tips, but throughout the entire Journey the path was very clear. I came across one other traveller during my first Journey and playing together is definitely more fun than travelling by yourself. It makes the path less lonely. There’s a few things you can miss throughout your playthrough that I plan on getting in the upcoming days, but thankfully there’s a chapter select that can help you out. I’d say this is definitely worth playing.
Very artistic and relaxing, interesting approach to video games, I think it deserves a try, it wasn’t so remarkable for me though, and not my type of games, 5.5 out of 10.
it was super cute, but i wish there was a way for us to chat, or at least see the name of the people we're playing with (BEFORE the end) lol. i played almost the whole way through with the same person, and theyve clearly played before. helped guide me around :)
First perfect game I've ever played, genuinely such an incredible experience.
The person I met along the way and completed the game with was also awesome and they drew a heart in the snow at the end and I nearly cried it was so sweet
Genuine 10/10 game, really really really recommend it to anyone looking for a chill multiplayer game that looks incredible!!!
Loved to play this game. Loved to meet some companions. It was quite a journey.
I really enjoy this game. It's beautiful and the music does really well in setting the atmosphere in each area. It's short and sweet but easily re-playable.
I downloaded this game with the intention of playing it with my friend so that we could journey together. I'd read online that you can try to end up in the same zone at the same time, finicky but possible.
However, the game is intended for you to play with a stranger and when I came across a stranger in the first multiplayer area, chirping and jumping around excitedly together, I found the charm in the intention of this game. And we stayed together for the entire journey. My friend and I were in a voice chat together, each with our own travelling companion as we continued on, and it was FUN.
I found myself having a wonderful time, barely able to communicate with my travelling companion outside of our musical chirps but we still felt incredibly connected. If one of us fell, the other would wait or come back to collect them, when we succeeded on a puzzle we would both chirp together happily, and when the game got a little tense or the journey felt tough - the chirps from my companion felt like they were spurring me on.
This is a beautiful game where you feel inexplicably connected to someone you may never meet or hear from again. Yet you two always have that journey you shared together.
It is also wonderful in the way that you can take the journey at your own pace. You can explore to your hearts content and wander through the desert and if the stranger paired with you instead wants to go off on their own, they can. You will find someone else eventually who may want to explore or travel just as fast as you. They may stop to take a break and then you'll meet someone else again further along. The sentiment of it being your journey while being easier/more enjoyable with others (through the charging of your scarf) is really well done imo.
Highly recommend this game and I think I'll come back to it from time to time.
I don't often leave reviews. But, I hated this.
What I thought this game was, was a cool "skiing" movement system through an interesting desert biome with fast paced movement that would feel good to navigate and control. (What is depicted in the trailers).
That is not at all what this game is. This game is a BRUTALLY boring walking simulator, where I quite literally held my control stick forward and walked in dense snow (with literally nothing to see, not even art) for minutes at a time, no interesting biomes, no interesting landmarks, no interesting mechanics, no interesting....anything.
I'm pretty sure the subplot is just a metaphor for the journey through life, but my god even my real life is more entertaining than this game was. I hated this...I truly hated this.
This is an experience, a beautiful one. However, it is a bit too short/simplistic and skew too much on the "artsy" side. It didn't quite click for me, but for some people this probably resonates much more than it did for me.
How do you describe a game without words, when you can only use words?
Well, "wow" is all there is.
Short and sweet, nothing but abstract artistry and beautiful music.
This game is an experience of its own.
There are very few, and i mean it, veeeeery few games that soothe me in a way Journey did.
This was already too many words, it's a very unique game, unique in many ways.
The game is very interesting, I played it for first time on PS3 but it was a 100 times more fun on steam
I just started playing it, I like the music and the relaxing world, anything is just a bit different. If you enjoy some calm playstyle it is good for you.
It's been long due that I wanted to play Journey, and I was committed to start this year with a great game.
And damn, was I right.
The art direction, the music, the animation, even the subtle controller interactions, were so intricate and detail, even tho the art style seems so simple. All of it takes you on a immersive Journey of struggle, tragedy, and perseverance.
Figuring it out in the end that your little companion of your tribe is a real person was so heartwarming, because all the interactions we have with that little figure, rising together above the struggles, is a perfect bonding experience.
Just trying to communicate with sounds and gestures was so fun. I just hoped that my friend would've played until the end to see the amazing finally.
One small note that I wish was different was the constant fade to white in cinematics and changing levels. It's very hard on the eyes and not the most accessible experience for people with eye disabilities.
Overall, after 13 years of existing, Journey is still an amazing journey. Small, but sweet. Completely recommend.
Came into the game not knowing it was co-op. I found a guy who looked just like me, thinking it was some kind of Easter egg or something, but slowly realized it was another player. We made it through the whole game, helping and guiding each other on this journey.
Once in the snowy mountain, he got pushed off a bridge by a strong wind. I thought he was done for, but while contemplating this, I got pushed off the bridge too. I quickly discovered that it had another passage underneath, but he wasn’t there. Feeling a bit down, I decided to press on—and to my surprise, I found him a little further ahead, still pushing toward the snowy mountain’s peak. We reunited at last and finished our journey together, walking into the light.
An awesome experience—it wouldn’t have been nearly as good if it were a single-player game.
People say that this game is amazing, beautiful, with great music and concepts and it Truly is
I really don't know how to feel about this game on one hand it does invoke wonderment but at the same time it almost doesn't feel like it goes far enough do to how fast you progress through the environment. This makes it so you never sink in far enough to truly make me fall in love with the game.
