Kingdom Rush - Tower Defense

One of, if not the best tower defense game oat ig. Love the art style, love the gameplay. Spend 64 hours and don't think I regret the second of it.

Logra mantenerte atrapado siguiendo una formula sencilla pero efectiva propia del género en si mismo, el juego tiene una variedad compacta pero balanceada de torres, dónde cada una cumple un rol distinto y se acoplan a diferentes necesidades y enemigos dependiendo el nivel. La campaña es la raja, muy entretenida y con una buena progresion, las mini campañas y niveles adicionales, tampoco decepcionan, con una gran curva de dificultad y enemigos y escenarios únicos y cautivantes, que se sienten nuevos y fescos. Eso sí, bien que algunos jefes son sosos y inspidos (el árbol podrido, el hongo qliao, y la araña ctm). Y eso po meo juego :p

An excellent classic tower defense experience and a compelling introduction to the entire series

Not as much fun as Kingdom Rush Origins, Frontiers or Vengeance. Once the primary campaign is completed, various new stages open up but these are just extremely annoying to finish. These later stages are more puzzle then tower defence.

A nice start for a great TD franchise.
Everything is well drawed and looks good with a nice diversity of ennemies in every level. Game offers a nice challenge in veteran difficulty. Towers choice and upgrades brings some variety to your defense but you quickly find out than some are way better than other.
It was a second time for me since I played it already on the phone a long time ago, but it's still as good as I remembered !

This was the first video game I ever played, way back on Armor Games. It's still just as good.

I first played this here in early 2025. I want to try and convince you why you should as well.

There's a ton of tower defense games on the market, almost all of which are newer than this one. There's even like 4 more Kingdom Rush titles, and there's Bloons, and then even new things like Emberward and Nordhold. There's a lot going on in the tower defense market.

I chose to start here because I wanted to play a Kingdom Rush game, and after all the research I could do on which one to start with, I came up with no real good answer. When I saw the sale recently, I kind of just decided to try it out as a package purchase.

I'm so glad I did, because this game lays the groundwork for all of the other Kingdom Rush games, and actually provides a baseline for nearly all other modern tower defense games. You get to play with towers, control heroes, and go through a colorful campaign with tons of activity and abilities. You are unlocking tech tree upgrades and new heroes. And all the while, you are just having fun. Each mission is super unique, and offers you the chance to try all kinds of different tower strategies.

The main campaign offered me about 4 hours of gameplay time. Once you beat the campaign, a few other solo missions unlock (maybe about 6 of them) that probably will offer you another hour or two. After that, you really only continue if you plan to do heroic modes where you do all the scenarios again in harder and harder difficulties.
I don't actually plan to do that, I think I will likely stop after I finish all the unique scenarios. At that point, I'll move on to the next game in the series, Kingdom Rush Frontiers. But I'm really glad I played this because it's a view into how the whole system was designed and built up from the beginning, and I had a blast for the 4 hours I played through the campaign. Additionally, I feel like I will have a leg up when starting out in Frontiers because I understand how the system functions... how towers typically work together and create synergies, and how specific enemy types can be problematic. And that's not difficult to believe, because this game is where it all started.

Was it worth it for 5 or 6 hours total of content? I mean.... with the sale and the package deal, I think I got this for somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 to $3. You make the call, but to me it was a steal. Not to mention that part of the reason why sometimes people don't want to start with older games is that they don't want to sink hours into older titles that use less modern tech. But in this case, it's barely an investment. I think this is a great way to break into the tower defense game experience.

If you are planning to start a Kingdom Rush experience for yourself, I heartily recommend starting here. It is a great game, and it only gets better from this point.

I'm a big fan of yours, but the difficulty in the subsequent side levels (especially the Hell Portal) is too high, can you reduce the intensity of the easy difficulty, if you see it and are willing to update it, then I will buy the latest DLC of your five generations

Incredibly fun and there are now mods that allows for bigger and more ambitious challenges courtesy of the modding community! Should give this a try after playing through the vanilla version!

Fun strategy game, the main storyline is a bit on the easy side but the additonal content and the heroic and iron (basically a bonus round on a previous stage you 3 starred.).
One of my favorite things this game has is that you can lose a life or two and still get three stars it's a really big pet peeve of mine is missing one enemy and redoing the entire stage, it's a small thing and I really like it,

This is an unparalleled tower defense game in terms of both art and content design.All towers have a chance to play their part and all the enemies are so impressive.After playing so many tower defense games, I realized how rare it is to make every place and our units remembered.Another thing that must be mentioned is the sound part of the game,The sounds of gunfire and steel are cleverly combined with the characters' language and shouts.Finally, I hope you can port many of the good features of the Flash version to Steam like reinforcement skin, lightning attack and double speed.

Fun game. worth the price.

An absolute masterpiece of a game. No matter how many times I play it, it never gets boring. The gameplay is engaging and challenging, visually it's very appealing and the soundtrack is majestic

Absolute banger of a game! A classic Tower Defense experience that turns simplicity into tons of fun!

For quite a while, I have wanted to play Kingdom Rush again. The last time I played it was ages ago. I remember having so much fun back then, and coming back to the game now has given me a wave of nostalgia. Beyond that feeling, I had an absolute blast playing through the campaign and challenges at varying difficulty levels. Veteran mode, in particular, really forces you to plan your moves and towers strategically.

Despite only having four towers with a few upgrade paths and a limited placement options for your towers, Kingdom Rush makes the most out of its simplicity. The playful and delightfully chaotic art style fits the game really well, and I absolutely adored the little Easter Eggs hidden throughout the game!

Frankly, I would recommend this game to anyone, at least to give it a try! And if you already know you enjoy Tower Defense or Strategy games, then I would recommend it even more.

Don't forget to aggressively click/tap all the sheep you see. It's for the plot... or something like that.

Awesome tower defense game

A fantastic tower defense game that manages to walk the line between leaving you room to choose and wanting you to find an optimal strategy perfectly.

There are only a handful of towers, with a handful of different ways they can be built, and not that many places on each map to place the towers.

The simplicitiy is precisely what works so well, though. You do not get the over-the-top, confusing mix of colors and light that the tower defense genre sometimes can deteriorate into once you go late game.

The difficulty also allows you to customize a lot. If you go through the iron and heroic challenges on the highest difficulty, oh boy, it can get hard... but you asked for it!

All in all, a fantastic game that appeals to all levels of players and offers a variety of ways to engage with it. I can very highly recommend.
