While the graphics and animations do look dated, the voice acting was done VERY well, and how the voice acting was used makes me feel immersed! The difficulty scaling is reasonable, suprisingly. My only gripe is the progression system, lack of having your own build and that the menu screen is not very interactable.
We all know Payday 2 have more contents, but Payday The Heist still remain my favorite entry in this series.
Played this game back in 2013 ish with not-legit copy, finally bought it legit and playing with other players (you may find several ppl playing online). The grittier atmosphere, and the tense gameplay (the dozer in this game hit bricks) won me over, just 4 heisters trying to make quick money without
History Channel at 3 AM plot twist on PD2.
The ammo management may be harder but you can save ammo by headshotting, The difficulty is much different compared to PD2, in this game most of time you would shoot and cover. No perk decks, no skills tree. Just simplified one of perk that you need to get. Unlocking upgrades in this game felt satisfying.

Payday: The Heist is tougher than Payday 2, with tasers and dozers posing a genuine challenge. The intense difficulty keeps you on edge, making every heist feel like a real test of skill and teamwork.
i like how cloakers chase me across the map just to curbstomp me. 10/10!

PDTH is a true serious shooter, unlike PAYDAY 2
I stopped playing PAYDAY 2 since 2019. The amount of DLC the game has like jesus (especially with the state of PAYDAY 3). So when I saw this game being on sale for only 1,50 euro I was hooked on it, let me explain:
- The first game shows a more "realistic" vibe to it than the second game, relying on your teammates and coordination
- The Bulldozer is a living PTSD
- When Bain warns you about SWAT sending a Tazer/Cloaker/Bulldozer/Shield you better be ready
- There's no heist relying on stealing goats filled with funny white powder that they consumed (lmao)
- The soundtrack is more grunge with some relevance to the movie Heat
- There's still people making mods for this game so i recommend checking that out
In conclusion, I just wanted to make an excuse after i was done with the second game and wanted to try out the one made for the real OGs because It really is a good game with personality and because I watched the movie which made me love every moment of it lol.
Very fun game especially with your brother or friend.
10/10 reccomended for players who have played thief simulator, and 10/10 reccomended if you are into crime games + you have friends or brothers.
The AI in this game is so good, if these guys made a chatbot it'd be called Ben Shapiro
Also when you headshot someone with a visor the glass breaks 15/10

The cops are like L4D2 infected and don't stop coming. The cloakers are fair and the bulldozer is a menace. It's better than the second one for sure. Especially the fact that there's a L4D1 mission as well.
PAYDAY: THE HEIST may have 9 missions but they are really hard on overkill or hard, the game feels more realistic, guns hit harder, specials are actually high priority targets

LOL No. so very unreal. 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000 cops... you have 2 mags...choose wisely. What a joke, playing this with friends becomes laughable. Yeah if you get this on 2 dollar sale sure go for it. So unrealistic, COD is more realistic than this game. The Reload is soo clunky, Its like a couple of 8 year olds decided to rob a bank in a city with the worlds largest police force. They are having Planes full of cops flown in one after another from across the planet because even in real life you have a better chance at surviving with a sling shot and a broken hand than in this game.

Its a good game but if your new to the payday franchise i would not recommend this as its the hardest one of the series and its 5 dollars more then payday 2 so buy payday 2 instead but if you have money over this game is gold

Even if the game's dated, it's still fun to play w/ friends (which is highly encouraged since even in normal you'll get your ass handed to you on low levels) although the game's multiplayer is kinda dead, most of the time people will hop on your public games + most people are really nice to play with so yeah, just give it a shot.

I love this. Not only is this the start of Payday, but the gunplay, while a little dated, is actually really fun. Would love to see a remake of this sometime. The only real issue is the bots can be extremely stupid sometimes, which isn't an issue if you play with other people. Other that that, and the slightly dated mechanics, it is incredibly fun and I would wholeheartedly recommend buying this.
Payday: The Heist delivers intense, cooperative heist action with strategic planning and chaotic shootouts. While thrilling with friends, repetitive missions and dated mechanics hold it back from true greatness.

Holy shit???? This is infinitely more fun than payday 3, heists are actually challenging and overkill isnt a complete joke that you can breeze through even if you go down like 50 times in a row.
Surprisingly solid game, maybe not for everyone but for the price you can get it on sale it’s worth checking out.
Haven’t played much multiplayer so can’t speak for that but even solo isn’t bad.
Objectively not a great game in today’s standard but still fun to play once in a while or with friends.

it's very good but you need to play with friends on any difficulty higher than normal or else the terrible ai will hold you back immensely

This is a neutral review.
Payday has a very original concept which made it become a very popular game. The idea of allowing the players to experience making heists of all kinds is original, thrilling.
However, something you notice as soon as you start playing is the following - this is almost exclusively a multiplayer game.
You have something like 9 maps avaiable, and only 2 ( max 3 ) of them you can do by yourself. On normal difficulty. The rest are too hard for singleplayer.
Ok, I can accept that. This is a cooperation focused multiplayer game. I like multiplayer games.
But the thing that I didn't like is that in this game you really depend on other players to finish heists/maps.
In what way? Almost all maps are very challenging. Every couple of minutes hordes of police man come at your way. You have very little health and ammo, and they implemented an obnoxious way of recovering it (example - you recover some little ammo from dead bodies and from the only ammo bag you can carry).
This game has a very long leveling up hierarchy. When you start playing you are very weak.
You basically have to rely on veterans to "boost you" = help you finish heists.
You have to grind and grind maps because with each level up you are stronger in the attributes ( more precision, more health etc....) and you get better weapons. There are 145 character level ups in the base game, and 195 if you have the DLC! That gives you an idea of the basic concept of the game - just play all the maps over and over until you are strong enough to beat them without the help of veterans.
So, on one side I had good fun playing this game. Basically my experience was - when I was in a group with veterans, I successfully completed the maps. When I was in a random group with people of my level, we lost.
Yeah, the game is adrenalinic, but also repetitive. I had the most fun when I drank some alchohol while playing. The graphics is very outdated. The story is non-existent.
Once you beat all the maps both on normal and on hard there is nothing to do.
Also I didn't like that you have to memorize the maps perfectly and the sequence of things you have to do in order to beat the maps. There is little margin for error. Once again, this is a very "elitistic" game, not very user friendly for the newcommers.
This game is clearly targeted for groups of real life friends to play together. But in 2024 there is little motive to buy this and not Payday 2.
7.5 out of 10.
