This simulator is fun for those who enjoy the railroad life or enjoy the game as a whole.
good game crash trains wont kick YOU lcs love it
If you dont want to pay for addons (which a LOT of them are) prepare to delve into websites deemd as unsafe. Free roam mode is basically pay walled as you need a map compatible with it in order to play it. Selecting nothing and pressing start crashes the game. The alternative is to edit vanilla maps which can be pretty complicated. Would not reccomend.
Good game, has most of the routes you would like to drive in England.
I purchased the base game with the intent of purchasing DLC later for the routes I'd like to see. However, the base game lacked sufficient content to get me hooked to begin with. Lack of detail in the environment convinced me not to waste my money on DLC's that cost as much as most complete A-list games. This series just seems like a very expensive money-grab. I expected American Trucking Simulator level of environmental detail, and ended up with Flight Simulator a-la 1993. Refund requested.
Very Good train sim but the dlc can be a bit on the pricier side
I refuse to buy anything from DTG again. Most horrible games company ever, cynically screwing money from users with such a poor product.
The only way to get a really good trainsim made is to stop giving your money to DTG and hoping they make this better. They won't. Give it to more deserving devs.
Amazing game play, graphics and detail.
This sim has realistic physics.
Moderate trash, but I guess for the price and time of release, it is acceptable. I am only playing this because of PC restrictions. My PC is a potato. Just play TSW5 if you can.

There are better train sims than this one out there
For rail fans seeking relaxation, this simulator is a delightful escape. It perfectly blends fun and relaxation after a long, tiring day. Even though I've only been playing for a few days, I'm already hooked and can't get enough. The game's compatibility with third-party apps adds more depth, allowing you to play local scenarios not covered in the base game. Traveling to relatives during summer holidays and playing familiar routes feels wonderfully nostalgic. The visuals and sounds are incredibly pleasing, making you feel like you're actually on the tracks. It's a true time killer, offering an immersive experience that keeps you coming back for more. trainsimworld 5 but more routes and DLCs and more trainy based, cant walk around like tsw5 which is fine for me, i love this game, abit more stressfull than TSW5

If you are looking for an actual "train simulator", then this isn't for you. It's more of a "train route" simulator if truth be told. FACT: You will never even remotely have an idea of how to start up, or drive a train after playing this game.
A rather realistic simulation which the publisher constantly updates. I highly recommend Train Simulator Classic
The route scenery is quite realistic as well as the trains.
It is good to drive a train on a route that I know. I do wish that I could drive the complete route as per the route description e.g. from Victoria to Ramsgate and back again.
I hope this will be possible in the future.
I find the comments after completing the route annoying as some of them are incorrect. I prefer to drive outside of the career mode.
This game is broken. Instead of finding a solution Dovetail Games tells you it's because of you processor, your graphic card, your motherboard...it's never their fault. Expensive game and Dlcs to never play them, thanks a lot Dovetail Games!
Actually, it's hard to say this. I used to love this game.
Sleep is a real gameplay in this game! Imagine, you are just sit and daze during 60 minutes like an silly people?! For me, I don't recomended this game although this game is called "Simulator" and simulation genre. It's a marketing trick, you buy main game but are only given a few boring loco, route, and scenario. In a given scenario, there's no shunting, no fun, boring gameplay, no sudennly event, truly you are only sit and drive your loco while notice maximum speeding! If you want "maybe" play fun scenario, you must pay it. Buy a few expensive scenario, route DLC, loco is a real gameplay (not really). Another one, actually this is old game which is just updated by DG, the original game is called "Rail Simulator". No wonder this game has so many glitch, unstable FPS, and bad view distance graphic. I think better buy Trainz franchise than this franchise. Trainz's developer is not greedy like this game developer.
I have a feedback for DG. Why don't you add more shunting scenarios? Shunting scenario make the gameplay become fun & interactive than passenger long distance scenario. Add more suddenly event, and red signal (for long distance scenario). If you want release new this game generation give 3 type of train steam, electric, and diesel. Don't just 1 type.

so if you want a simulator game that's realistic i'd highly recmend this one.
I mean it's alright. I don't really get into the nitty gritty of these types of games, I literally just set the trains to drive and then let them lull me to sleep. It's cozy and casual, so yes a positive from me.
Part of my literal childhood! If you love railways and locomotives i can really and truly recommend this (but just know that the dlc's are expensive as shit).

Although the overly high prices and amount of DLCs. I still love this game, I only with that there was a Thomas DLC.
Right, let me start by saying that I only play British steam, so this may be slightly biased.
The game itself is a bit average, especially regarding the graphics and stuff. It is also the most DLC orientated game I own, which is really quite annoying. That being said, most of the new DLCs are alright, especially the ones by BMG and VR, and there is a lot of third party content still being released, even if the game itself isn’t really being worked on anymore. I find the game for enjoyable than TSW, due to the advanced modes for most of the locos in game, and the ability to turn off auto-fireman. Overall, it’s an alright little game, and, if you spend enough money you might even enjoy it. I own most of the DLCs for the riviera in the 50s route, and so far I’ve found them all (with the exception of the Star class) to be enjoyable to drive. I mostly do stuff in the large prairie, saint, panniers and the hawksworth county (I believe all by Victory Works) and they are top notch stuff. The DLCs also get discounted regularly, and you can pick up a new loco for under a fiver if you’re lucky.
So, its an alright game, but if you want to just sit back and watch trains go by, without really caring about driving them too much I’d go for Train Sim World.
I dislike the UI and the overall lack of polish makes it uncomfortable to play, i understand that the game is an older game but the maps aren't very detailed and they are pretty ugly and only vaguely represent their real life locations
I've played TS for years and while the graphics aren't Trains Sim World quality it's not bad, especially the european routes. There's also a boat load of DLC to keep train junkies like myself busy for many hours. All in all I've really enjoyed just the ability to load it up and drive a route or two when I have the itch to drive a train.
Really a great game for railfans and people who love trains! And I'm just getting started!
I enjoy driving the routes I have already travelled by train.
I find some of the scenarios do not work but I have a 10 year old PC.

Unless you are a fan of foreign diesel trains and short scenarios, this game isn't for you.
good game recomend at least 4gb ram 8gb ram would be better though. on sale now only £10 worth it
hi dovetail i got this game its really amazing but i brought the 0-4-0 saddle tank pack 2 for this but i cant spawn it when i go into free roam so could you post maybe a video on youtube how to spawn it and what you can spawn steam engines on or is it bug please reply to this
Very detailed, easy to learn the game mechanics, variety of options for trains, overall it is a great game i recommend for people to play

Good starting Trains Simulator demo
I am not really into trains as such, but always had a soft spot for them having grown up with brothers and we had train sets and Scalextric cars (these were the very original simulators for us kids in the 80s!). And I watched Thomas Tank haha! But whenever I have played these kind of games I usually just use them to make insane tracks and try and crash them. But wow, was blown away by TS24, really detailed and you feel like your actually there. I am really enjoying this and had no issues so far. Steam gave me a handful of DLC with the base game so plenty to do until I decide to purchase some more locos and routes. I would recommend :)
I brought this game around 3 years ago and the general game is worth it however, I don't think having to pay so much money for the game and then have to spend a lot more to get your own routes and trains is very good. I do think the actual game is good though and a worth while purchase, although I don't recommend all of the Dovetail Games DLCs as quite a lot of them are not the best. Some I would recommend are the Portsmouth Direct Line London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour, East Coast Mainline South London to Peterbourgh, and the South Western Mainline Southampton to Bournmouth.
There are many 3rd Party places where you can pick up some much better quality routes, trains, and enhancement packs, such as Armstrong Powerhouse, and Justtrains who both make high quality trains, and routes with Armstrong Powerhouse making some excellent Enhancement Packs.
Overall I would definitely recommend the game, but be careful with what DLCs you are purchasing and do research on them before to make sure you are getting what you want for your money and if its worth it.
