I Love that Youtube Channel. I Watch His Game Reviews for the Laughs. He's Hilarious! xD
this game is HARD AF. very unforgiving platformer but well made and if you like AVGN you can appreciate what they were going for. if you think youre good at these kind of games this game will bend you over and make you re think
I just bought this game today on discount bundled along with the sequel and their HD remake. It's pretty fun, actually. I like 16 bit graphics reminiscent of classic retro arcade action games. And the difficulty... the levels get pretty hard very early but it's not frustratingly hard in a way that makes me want to rage quit the game. It's challenging in satisfying way.
It's a shitty game done the right way, if you know what I mean.
roadkill skunk down with beer shit puke fart balls!!!
i'd leave my wife for this game
Im almost done! Im at LJN stage!
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
challenging and rewarding? no, game difficulty is insanely bs
Imma be real, the graphics are hideous.
very funny. very hard. very perverted. Great game!
Hard, frustrating yet rewarding. Packed with AVGN references, this challenging game delights fans with clever humour, fun controls, and surprises.
Frustratingly hard but doable and very rewarding when you do do it!
Lots of AVGN series references which is great to see and I am tempted to look for the hidden characters, but after dying about 500 times on the final boss, Fred Fuchs, my hand is a claw and I need some physio so I'm not sure I want to come back and play this any more. And this was on Easy....FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
As a fan I recommend this, but as a person who wants to keep his sanity, I would recommend you put your head down a toilet and flush instead.

Completed as of writing this review: Base Game (Normal Difficulty)
To be honest I'm not familiar much with AVGN but I still appreciate his existence for making a revolution of video game reviews, that were made entirely in-house. These were before him but only he was able to popularize it. Anyway, the game is pretty good. Mostly what you would expect from an indie game released in early 2010's. The stages are vibrant, colorful, pretty fine challenge-wise (my fave is Happy Fun Candy Time). The bosses were what I didn't really like, as they required you to learn a pattern pixel by pixel, but that's expected from a game based on games from late 1980's. The music was bangin' though. The humor and gore-y nature is what you would expect from an indie game from this time and it was all mostly funny due to how absurd it could be. Of course not exactly everything is all that fun. The death blocks are the biggest offender in some of the stages for example.
But the stage that truly got on my nerves is the very last one. I can understand the fact that it tries to be as retro as possible with the difficulty but this one stage was too much. I barely got through it, okay fine, but the final boss was the worst thing in this game. One of the most unfair bosses I've ever had trouble with. Even if I knew the pattern, it was still not enough. Eventually I just used one spot where he was barely able to reach me and only that let me beat him. Still that's not enough, as there are difficulties that only people with too much free time can master, so the game is not fair all things considered. Even with 30 lives I am done with this game. I know people will say that it was "my fault by setting the game to normal" but all of the stages were not nerve-wrecking to this extent. Hopefully the developers have learned their lesson in the sequel. I can't recommend this game to an average fan of platformers just because of this moment alone but I'm still giving it a like because everything else was pretty fun!
Very hard, but fun game. I strongly recommend it.
If you're a fan of funny death quotes and bullshit enemies and a huge fan of the Nerd, this game is for you. All the references from shitty games that the Nerd played, is amazing
Fun. I like Happy World
ASS! FUUUUCK!!
If you are a fan of the show you'll enjoy all the references. This is a good game overall. The game as good controls, looks nice, and is fun. If you haven'r play this game or its sequel, buy the AVGN 1+2 double pack. It's both games together, and is absolutely worth the price. Grab it when its on sale. You'll be glad you did.
This game is so hard, it would actually be easier to go outside in a thunderstorm and try to dodge rain. It would be easier to walk barefoot, without your toes or heels touching the floor. It'd be easier to pick fly shit out of pepper... while wearing boxing gloves!
Very fun game, especially for AVGN fans!
Fun and dynamic game with a retro vibe! Really enjoyed it!
I think it's funny that Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures almost provides the same angry moments displayed from the Youtube show. I have a bit of of a mixed thought about the game. Yeah, a singular thought. It captures that NES feeling for sure. We've got great pixel art, some Mega Man esque levels, and some great chiptune music. But we also have some of those incredibly frustrating NES style levels that make me wonder what horrible demon we all collectively pissed off to have TMNT's water level exist.
I guess that's more than one thought.
Play the deluxe edition way less cheaper death's
It's designed to be brutal and frustrating, even on the lowest difficulty it's going to take some serious concentration and meticulous planning to get it beat, but when you do, the satisfaction is nearly worth it. The soundtrack is great, the cameos will make you do the DiCaprio meme if you're a fan of the show. It's a good game but you need to be prepared to die a lot.
What the **** was AVGN thinking?
Simply put, this game is a love letter to anyone who grew up playing 8-bit and 16-bit games of the 80s and 90s. You know, the games that AVGN is famous for reviewing and raging. And this game has plenty of "Nintendo-hard" mechanics and difficulty and just plain cheese that will make you swear in ways you never thought possible. This game even comes up with new and creative ways for you to string vulgar words together in complete sentences. But then you'll laugh it off and start right back up until you finally beat the level, the boss, and then eventually the whole game and it will all have been worth it.
Mega Man, Mario, Zelda, Castlevania are just some of the series that this game pays homage to, although I'm sure there are plenty of others too.
Fans of AVGN's show will fit right at home here with all sorts of references and inside jokes from the show. If you haven't watched his show, go on YouTube and watch some episodes before getting this game. You'll understand why soon enough.
This game is very replayable, with multiple difficulty levels as well as hidden characters you can play as. I didn't even find all of the hidden characters in my first playthrough and only found out about the ones I missed after watching AVGN review his own game.
