Murdered: Soul Suspect

Seems like a great game with an interesting twist, using skills as a ghost is cool. I love the detective aspects of the game but then there's map puzzles to get past entities (baddies) to be able to get on with the investigation, which makes it far to scary and complicated for me LOL - I'm out - but thumbs up to a cool game!

I don't even remember buying this game, it must've sat in my Steam library for years. I picked it up on a whim and was immediately pulled in - I LOVED IT! I'm surprised at how well it holds up in the decade+ since the game's release, and other than a couple of minor bugs and issues here and there, I had a pretty perfect playthrough. There are clues to find, collectibles to search for, creepy locations to visit (the whole game takes place in Salem, MA), and an overall creepy, noir detective vibe that I loved.

An excellent detective walking sim

This game is amazing. I have had this sitting in my pile of shame for years and finally got around to playing it.
This is one of the best written games I have played in recent memory and its environment, pacing, and characters make a really compelling story that ropes you in pretty immediately. I wish more games of the same genre (i.e. Sherlock Holmes, Sinking City, Visage, etc.) had the same smooth story-flow as this.

It is also amazing how good this looks and how well it runs considering its age. I am running an eyefinity 7680x1440 resolution with everything maxxed and still getting over 100fps on a mid-range GPU.

Get this game if you like investigation-type games. It is sooo good.

Story was very interesting, and the ending is definitely not something I saw coming. This game has many collectables, which for someone like me who loves finding things in games in great. The ghost stories you find are very interesting, and overall I found the concept and game worth it. Wish it was a little bit longer, as I have completed the game with all achievements and collectables and it took 11hrs (probably could have been done much more quickly).
Others have said there are bugs, but I didn't really experience anything major.

I've attempted to play this game twice now and each time I am bored out of my mind.
The game clearly wants players to guess the right answers using minor details but the questions the game asks are vague and the clues are unintuitive. It also punishes players from choosing incorrectly by removing "badges", your means of character progression, for every wrong choice.

You are ghost. You are detective. You are now part of the occult, and you don't know who murdered you, other spirits want your energy. What else do you need?

This game has bugs, but the plot is good and the gameplay is interesting.It's almost the end of the game, there are no interaction keys displayed on Rex, but there are on Joy.I played this game for thirteen hours but couldn't complete it due to a bug, which makes me feel speechless and angry.So I gave this game a negative review.

This game delivers a great story with interesting gameplay, and the ending does not disappoint. Completing all the achievements was a fun challenge, though there were perhaps too many collectibles—especially Abigail's messages, which were frustrating to find.

Despite that minor gripe, the experience was very enjoyable, and I absolutely love this game! Highly recommended! 🎮✨

The story of this game is a 10/10. Very interesting concept, with lots of mystery. However, and I mean this with all of heart (which while playing this game was ready to burst at multiple times) I could really do without the Demons... really. It was very stressful whenever I heard those creatures, I would shake and my legs would weaken.
TLDR; very cool game- minus the Demons.

LOVEEEEEDDDD this game. It was so so so much fun. Yes there were a few hiccups and bugs but that's expected for game that is 10 years old. The only sad thing is that you cant go back after you finish the story to collect the rest of the collectibles. Super fun game though, so highly recommend it.

Loved it. Honestly, don't know why it flopped. Whoever loves ghosts and stories from the past will love this too. Hoped it would get a second part.

One of the best story games out there. Except for some annoying stuff you need to do in between missions which breaks the flow and momentum of the game. Apart from that i really liked the game. Ending cold be better. Definitely 7/10

This game aged like fine wine, I play it now and find it way better than those AAA games these day. The story telling is intriguing enough with well built tension, game play might be short but everything solved in several hours before midnight so it makes sense; all characters have their charms, clear motive, deep emotions and very mature, no out of place or lame joke. Voice actors and face models are all decent. Salem town has a history of dark, malevolent, twisted past and so many lore and evil events, not just this witch hunt curse and the ending is begging for sequel but I guess by now, there'll be no sequel or prequel to this potential anymore. A shame, indeed.

To this day, this game has one of the best character intro montages i can think of and i make references to it all the time!
While the game is very linear and the story rather short, its quite the experience that is worth the purchase.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is a supernatural mystery game where you play as Ronan O’Connor, a ghostly detective solving his own murder in a haunting version of Salem. The story is compelling, with an eerie atmosphere and unique ghostly mechanics like walking through walls and influencing minds.

However, the gameplay is simplistic and repetitive, with easy puzzles and underwhelming stealth segments. While the visuals feel dated, the sound design and voice acting shine, adding depth to the experience.

If you enjoy narrative-driven, atmospheric games, it’s worth a play—just don’t expect a long or challenging adventure.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is basically a walking simulator, but a really fun one!

You can help the living while being dead, and to me it feels somewhat. Wholesome.

The story is not very long, but it is very good.

This Game was way ahead of its time and my first Detective game.

When THE FATHER glitches, just TURN ON or TURN OFF the V-SYNC option in OPTIONS menu. It should help FIX the problem.

Played this game for achievements and creepypasta stories!

If you like solving mysteries, you may like this game. The problem are the in between mechanics: Combat demons, move to other stages that feels repetitive and a LOT of collectibles, like over 170. If you find fun in getting all the collectibles, this is ideal for you.

The Good -
+ Good story and Interesting characters
+ Nice atmosphere and music
+ Visually holds up even 10 years later
+ Game feels and plays like a true detective game,like how real life detectives would solve cases.Finding clues and then letting the player figure things out on their own and solve the case.Felt good when i solved them all.
+ The lore in game is expanded via collectable which also act like codex entries which also flesh out the game further.The drawback is that there are more than 200+ collectables in the game.So up to the player whether they want to get them or not.Usually i view this much collectable as a negative but here it adds to the game with lore entries so i gave it a pass here.
+ The game can be 100% completed in a single run play through.

The Bad -

- The character model of MC hits an invisible wall of sorts as well as freeze for a second or two when you quickly change his movements/actions as well as feel a bit sluggish.
- Game breaking priest bug in the Church level which literally ruined my experience and stopped me from making further progress in the game.this should have been fixed ages ago by the developers.But nope,this still exists.Had to look at a steam guide for a fix.Also after applying said fix,the main area in the Church level near the level exit,is blurred as if the game hadn't loaded the textures properly.Also fix for this mentioned in steam guide.
- The demons combat section where you hide from them and stealth kill them was unnecessary in my opinion.They should have done it away altogether.
- Some collectables are not saved by the game automatically and must be reacquired if restarting from checkpoint.

Despite its flaws,its a good 7/10 game for me.Not all games have to be 8/10 or 9/10.

I generally don't like the term "hidden gem" because I feel it usually gets incorrectly applied to games that the majority of people have actually heard of and celebrate. In this case, however, I think it fits the bill. Nobody talked about this game when it released and nobody talks about it now, but it's a phenomenal supernatural murder mystery that deserves to be played by anyone intrigued by the genre.

The gameplay reminds me of a mix of Life is Strange and the Sherlock games. You're not so much solving mysteries yourself through deduction, but rather using your powers to reveal clues that the game then stitches together for you as it reveals more of the narrative. A narrative which, to be honest, surprised me with its quality. The story, characters, and voicework was head-and-shoulders above what I was expecting. In the 8-10ish hours I played the game I never lost interest, and I was always eager to see what came next. There's so many games to play these days that I find it difficult sometimes to commit to just one, but this one hooked me from the get-go.

This game regularly goes on sale for like 2 bucks, and it is genuinely one of the best uses of your money that I can think of at that pricepoint. Fans of mystery, history, and the supernatural all owe it to themselves to play this.

So when the Xbox 360 marketplace was shutting down, I happened to grab this game for dirt cheap, probably around the same price as on sale right now during the Winter sale. I avoided this game for a while because most people said it wasn't very good. I played it recently and beat it. Over there it ran pretty decent considering the hardware it had going with minor stutters. I enjoyed it so much that I got it again on Steam and replayed it with uncapped framerates and higher resolution. It's a fun detective type game with collectibles around the game that expand the lore. Not every game has to be 100 hours or online only to be good.

Well worth sale price. It's too bad the devs are no longer around as the studio closed shortly after release. I enjoyed their other game Dark Void as well.

Sidenote: I think this is the first game you get to play as a cat in certain parts of the game, a prototype for Stray methinks. It's too bad they didn't jump on it sooner.

The game is pretty easy too but I don't mind and neither should you. ( Got if for a price of a cup of coffe).

The game has a reputation among gamers so I decided to investigate.
I'm glad I did.
The game won't make anyone cream their pants or anything; but it's still a good experience.

This is a hidden gem. Yes some of the character's lines could be better, actually character development as a whole could be better. Regardless, it has Square Enix quality. This is a solid 75/100 experience.

A fun and interesting story full of suspense and discovery. Love the setting and theme of the game. The controls can be mildly wonky and the clues a bit hard to find or don't match the situation. But all in all, the game has an amazing story and setting ive not seen in any other game.
