Играя за Квико, игрокам предстоит укреплять дружбу с Монстром и решать с его помощью головоломки на своем пути по волшебному, сюрреалистичному миру. Forgettable game - sadly nothing really good here..

I give Papo & Yo about 52%. It is not bad, but it is quite forgettable. And sadly a D+ makes it a Thumbs Down on Steam. I don't think my little review will hurt the Very Positive reviews, though, so if you are very interested in this game, you still should give it a try, you can get it for quite cheap on sale.
Now I know a D+ in my review system says ''nothing really good here'' but that would be wrong about ONE thing: this game has REALLY good music. The composer did an amazing job, and it is funny to see that while the main creator of this game has not done much in game design for the past 10 years after this game, the composer on the contrary went on to do the music of games such as Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, etc, so, good on him!
Papo & Yo is not bad, it is just not good. Very short, boring puzzles where 80% of the solution is given to you in a (albeit, adorably conceived) Hint Box, tedious platforming sequences and frustrating chasing system from the monster... There is not much here that redeems the gameplay. The art is quite cute and still okay-ish for a 12 years old game, the art direction is not too bad, and finally the theme is very personal, dark and sensitive.
Could have been a great indie game, instead it is a frustrating and boring 'II' game (although at the time that label did not exist). Amazing music, important topic, forgettable game, that is Papo & Yo for me in 2024 sadly.
