Story
The vivid and wildly creative world of Brütal Legend is brought to life through a spate of chrome, leather, rocker babes, epic music, fire-breathing/stud-wearing beasts, mountains made of guitar amps, and more. Follow Eddie as he embarks on a tour of epic destruction with an axe, a guitar, and his minions as he commands the power of rock in epic band battles. Combat
Brütal Legend’s combat is a combination of classic action slasher and real time strategy mechanics. Melee and ranged combat come from your double-sided broadaxe and demon-slaying, pyrotechnic-creating guitar. Add that 1-2 punch to a guitar solo mechanic that can summon objects, buff your teammates, or cripple your opponents, and you have a deep, gratifying core gameplay combat loop that is fun for the hardcore and accessible for the casual. On top of that, players will journey from Roadie to Rock God by commanding legions of metalheads into Brütal Victory and sending troops charging into battle.
A Streaming Open World
Brütal Legend gives you the freedom to walk, drive, or fly anywhere in a fully streaming open world whose art style is inspired by some of the most iconic and hilariously rad metal album covers ever created. Every vista in the beautiful universe of Brütal Legend looks like it was pulled from a Frank Frazetta painting.
Packed With Cameos and Voice Talent
Brütal Legend is full of cameos from gods of metal like Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and many, many others. It has a MASSIVE metal soundtrack from every era of metal music: 1970’s classic metal to 1980’s hair metal to the scarier cousins of 1990’s metal. And of course, Jack Black pays the ultimate homage to metal as Eddie the Roadie, continuing the theme from the work of his band, Tenacious D and his previous films like School of Rock and High Fidelity.
Multiplayer Mayhem
4v4 "skirmish" multiplayer marries action combat with a strategic unit-control mechanic. As the leader of one of the factions in the game, the player will direct his armies in a Battle of the Bands where the trophy is survival. Brütal Legend’s multiplayer is online-enabled, so you can conquer your friends online (broadband connection required for online play).
Music
The music in Brütal Legend is truly massive. Made up of 108 of the most rocking tracks from 75 different bands representing every sub-genre of metal, it is something to experience in and of itself.

Comedic game with Jack Black, rock legends and a varied metal soundtrack - what could go wrong? The main gameplay loop is a mediocre hack n slash. Then it becomes a mediocre RTS later on.
This game deserves a sequel, it definitely needed a third act but the 2 acts we get are worth the price, especially on sale. A must have for all metal fans

Great game. Gameplay is really good, some classic hack 'n' slash with a bit of RTS (yes) into the mix.
Come here for the soundtrack, stay for the awesome world-building, cry for a sequel (lore is surprisingly interesting in this Universe). Jack Black gives his very own soul into being Eddie Riggs.

While it doesn't have a whole lot of replayability, and nobody plays the multiplayer mode, it still manages to be a really good game. This has to be one of my favorites from my childhood. I would love to see mod support for this game, or see someone make mods for Brutal Legend.
As a 20 year old who loves dad rock and jack black, this game is total rocket sauce. It has some flaws but it's a lot of fun. Another banger from Tim Schafer. 9/10.

No joke, had no idea what I was supposed to do in this game to win. I was able to get by and enjoyed exploring. But it just kept getting harder and I got stuck on a boss (guy with long blond hair) I lost in 20 seconds to.
Very funny cheesy humor, Jack Black did a really good job voice acting in this. Also, it's a classic that still holds up. The only thing wrong with this game is since it's a port of a game it has graphic and performance issues, other than that it's a great game.
I played this game while drunk together with another friend, and for some reason I thought that it was the best fuggn game ever created. Then I played it sober once again AND IT WAS STILL GOD DAMN GOOD
Weird game with a lot of style. A little short, but so much fun to play.
Overall, it's a game that you can play while your friends backseat play and laugh at. By far not a masterpiece, but it's more than serviceable as something you can play for an hour or two at a time.
First, the good shit.
- The soundtrack is stacked. Diamond Head, Rotting Christ, Deathstars, KMFDM, if you can think of a band then they most likely have a song in the game.
- The combat is enjoyable if you want to just annihilate hordes of monsters, but don't expect some Devil May Cry type combat considering how casual the game is.
- The artstyle also reminds me of some Saturday morning cartoon with imagery borrowing heavily from different metal and alt subgenres.
- The inclusion of Jack Black as the main character didn't really detract from the game in my opinion. His chemistry with most of the characters and cameos are the highlights of the game.
Now, the bad shit.
- The level structure is repetitive as it is linear. There's no way to play a mission differently, and you have to go from one bland open-world area to the next to do another mission. The side quests help a bit with that, but not enough to go out of your way to do them.
- The RTS shit. The strategy missions can easily turn what should be a 10 minute level into a 30-45 minute one. The worst part is that they're mandatory to progress the story, which can easily make any enjoyment from the game come to a grinding halt.
- The visual bugs. Granted, it's a game from 2013 and I'm sure that there's some workarounds, but it might be a turnoff to some.
10/10. The Zaulia are hot and I want Rima to step on me.
Look it isn't perfect, it's not very hard, it has some pacing issues, and even a little buggy.
But its got great music, a unique timeless type of look and good voice acting.
It's hard to describe but you really want to give it a chance!

heavy metal music, heavy metal visuals and art! heavy metal legends cast as characters along with Jack Black and Tim Curry. I gotta hack up baddies with my axe and then jam on my guitar which lit another baddie on fire while my bros are "just walking around, kicking ass!" 10 out of 10!
One of the best games ever made for metalheads like myself. I played this as a kid on the 360 during its early release and it looks and runs even better on pc.
The gameplay is fluid and fun while also introducing strategy during battles.
The soundtrack immensely fits the overall feel of the game with classics and songs that were fresh.
Overall, if you are a fan of heavy metal and rock and want a decent story with even better gameplay to go through. I highly recommend this game!

Brutal Legend is an action-adventure game with real time strategy elements and was released on Steam in 2013.
During a gig of a band, you get to experience the protagonist Eddie, who works as a roadie and is crushed by falling scenery while trying to save a member of the band during their performance. His blood lands on his belt buckle, which is an amulet for Ormagöden. The stage is transformed into Ormagöden, who kills the band and takes the unconscious Eddie to the heavy metal world. Eddie comes to learn that the fantasy world was created by a race of ancient Titans who left behind several instructions for the following generations to use, but neither humans nor demons could really use them. Only Eddie is able to make sense of their meanings and can put the Titans' wisdom to use. Is he the destroyer or the savior now? You have to find it out...
The story was written quite well and I love the voice acting in this game, since you have Jack Black and Ozzy Osbourne himself doing it and the humor in this game is just great. The graphics look awesome as well and the open world includes several details of metal music aesthetics. Underlined with songs by Ozzy Osbourne, Manowar, Judas Priest and many more, you get the chance to experience a totally different world with many different facettes. The character designs fit in pretty well and I personally love the headbanger guys. Every metal music fan will enjoy the rides, the dialogues and different parts of the open world. Your character gets to upgrade his weapons, his clothes and his vehicles and besides the main quests, there are many side quests and collectables to spend time with.
The controls were mostly smooth, but during the car rides they became a little bit clunky, but overall I hadn't any serious issues with them.
Unfortunaetly I do have a mixed feeling about the gameplay: While the game started as a Hack 'n' Slay sort of game with cool guitar solos to play, the game switched to a mode with real time strategy elements. I personally didn't like that mix that much since the combination felt more "unfinished". There's no smooth transition between these two gameplay styles and it feels like the developers were runnning out of time during the process.
My conclusion: The game is great itself and if you like metal music, you'll definetly enjoy this game a lot. For my personal taste, this game should've been a Hack 'n' Slay game instead of mixing it with strategy elements. If you don't have a problem with that, you should check this game out and on a side note: This game might have the best main menu of any game I've played until this day!
