Courier's Stash is a simple but practical DLC pack for Fallout: New Vegas, providing a package of unique starting gear that gives new players a gentle head start right out of Doc Mitchell's house. Each of the four pre-order packs—Caravan Pack, Classic Pack, Mercenary Pack, and Tribal Pack—provide useful weapons, armor, and consumables that can make those difficult early hours in the Mojave a little more manageable.
The gear itself is delectable and engaging, ranging from the Mercenary's Grenade Rifle to the Lightweight Leather Armor, offering early-game variety without breaking the game's balance. Some of them, like the Sturdy Caravan Shotgun or Throwing Spears, can even be viable well into the mid-game if properly cared for.
That said, receiving all of it in one go in Doc Mitchell's house can be a bit daunting—and not how Obsidian originally intended these items to be received. Fortunately, mods like "Courier's Stash Integration" or "JSawyer Ultimate Edition" (based on the lead designer's intention) fix this by spreading the gear organically throughout the world, encouraging exploration in the manner the devs originally intended. If you prefer a more balanced game, these mods are a must.
Not as significant as Old World Blues or Dead Money, Courier's Stash is nonetheless a appreciated bonus for players seeking a bit of additional variety in their early-game arsenal. Just consider modding it for a more immersive dissemination—it makes the loot feel earned rather than being handed to you.
It isn't a bad DLC but it does give you a lot of free weapons and armor at the very start of the game. If you don't like that, then its not impossible to disable the DLC or store the items it gives you somewhere and never use them. I like that they made it available later on, because if not, it would have been lost to time only for those with a working pre-order copy of the game still being able to use it. Definitely give this one a go.
I love starting with decent armor and weapons, especially the Mercenary's Grenade Rifle!
would pay this price for the canteen alone
OP as hell tbh
very good
This DLC kind of sucks.
The Courier's Stash is the last DLC added to the game and was given out to players who pre-ordered the game at certain retailers and was received positively by many.
Today though, it is generally seen as a mixed bag, people either like it because it helped give them a leg up in the early-game or they hate it because it gives you all the basic early-game necessities and more when you would otherwise need to work for those items.
In this DLC you get:
- The Caravan Pack
- The Mercenary Pack
- The Tribal Pack
[*]The Classic Pack
You already saw the contents of each pack if you are reading this off of the store page so you can see why this DLC breaks early-game balance.
Back in the day it was encouraged to only select one pack that suits your own play style but in modern day most people just have every single one selected in the launcher.
The items in the packs are really cool but I would prefer if these items were placed in the world instead of being put in your inventory as soon as you load into the game.
This isn't a problem if you are using Joshua Sawyer's mod JSawyer or its modern updated counterpart, JSawyer Ultimate Edition. These mods integrate the Courier's Stash into the world map by placing the contents around the Mojave.
Link to both the original JSawyer mod and JSawyer Ultimate Edition below.
Original JSawyer (For purists)
JSawyer Ultimate Edition (Better compatibility and updated for modern mod load-orders)
I only recommend this DLC because it is dirt cheap and is required for many mods to work properly.
Worth the price but makes the early game a bit too easy, which -I think- is bad because the Fallout's (all of them... Maybe besides the OG duo, never played them) late game is already too easy with all the guns and stimpacks you can have by that time.
makes everything much easier and just makes the game more confusing for new players.
Introduces you to a nice variety of weapons
"You take a sip from your trusty Vault 13 canteen"
99 Cents for Free Caps.
Seems fair.
You take a sip from your trusty Vault 13 canteen.
Nothing beats the feeling of a brutal notification bombardment (It's a must-have, can't imagine playing without it)
This was originally a preorder bonus to make the early game easier. Why not, I guess.
impossible to play the game without my trusty vault 13 canteen
seems like a good DLC, so far , i like it
good DLC has really nice outfits
you take a sip from your trusty vault 13 canteen
Well it's pretty worth it but, the Vault 13 Jumpsuit it's kind of ugly in my opinion, the Vault 13 Canteen it's awesome and I couldn't live without it.
i like the items but i wish they loaded after leaving mitchell's house, like the other dlcs, it kinda interrupts the beginning of the game
I like to sip some water everytime my Courier does. It keeps me healthy and hydrated while I put holes in Caesar's men
Weird, lazy, 2010s pre-order bonus. Idk wether to recommend it or not.
You can disable it if you want to play without it.
pay to win
the BEST way to kill vulpes early on is through this stash
weathered 10mm pistol my beloved
actually fucking god awful, retarded ass robot wouldnt stop killing me when i got a mini 14, fucking faggot
great
Knowing that starting in New Vegas isn't really easy, this worths it.
Plus you can take a sip from your trusty vault 13 canteen :)
Mmm canteen *sip*
Boycott Avowed! Fire Matt Hansen. Avowed needs me, I don’t need Avowed.
Vault 13 canteen
it gives you more stuff at the start, its a nice way to get a feel for different weapon types
vault 13 suit is my best freind and ill never take him off
Where would we all be in life if we didn't have our Trusty Vault 13 Canteen to take a sip from.
mercenary grenade rifle make raider go kaboom
You take a sip from your trusty vault 13 canteen...
Very op because it's given at the very beginning. Like why did they give us a vault 13 canteen at the beginning of the game it's way too good? WAY too powerful early on just because of that.
takes sip from trusty vault-13 canteen
Basically just free starter stuff. Though it is overpowered in the start of the game, so if you don't like that, you will need to get a mod to balance it out.
5/5
A neat pre order bonus at the time, but I do wish it all wasn't just dumped into the inventory right away.
coooll stuf
Totally unnecessary but ok ok
It provides you with initial gear to make the beginning of the game easier to handle and play. I would recommend.
this made the game much funner and expanded on the weapons and armor that you start with
kinda op
It gives you starting gear to make the start of the game a little easier to play and deal with.
would recommend.
Ahh Fallout New Vegas...the only game that can have a pay2win DLC that no one cares about
Love it total worth the dollar price tag! It is total not because I love the first game...
Eh, Worth the couple bucks, but it would only go good with the ultimate edition, not worth standalone. the vault 13 canteen is a nice little touch :)
