Rock
yeaS
It runs terrible on my mid level pc even on lowest settings and feels incredibly unpolished. Just get the second game if you want the same gameplay but 10x more polished
my big stoney balls going down the mountain to kill popular historical figures would recomend also fun with friends
I'm ROCK hard brother 10/10
Sort of a tower defense game, sort of a physics puzzle solver. You are a rock and you are trying to roll down a ramp down to a goal while people try to stop you or break your rock. The aesthetic is fun--kind of a cut-paper theater thing that goes through historical eras, a little like Monty Python animations. But the gameplay itself is tedious and repetitive. Controlling the boulder isn't fun because it's slow and unresponsive (as a big rock would be). And setting up defenses gets chore-ish after a while.
Rating: ★★★★☆ (5/5)
"When History Meets a Giant Rolling Boulder of Chaos!"
Rock of Ages is like someone looked at a history textbook and thought, "You know what this needs? A giant, unstoppable boulder and a whole lot of absurdity." The result is a hilarious mix of history, strategy, and pure chaos that’ll have you grinning from ear to ear.
Imagine this: You’re a massive boulder with googly eyes, rolling downhill at breakneck speed, smashing through everything from ancient Greek statues to Renaissance paintings. Your mission? Crush your opponent’s castle gate while laughing at the sheer absurdity of it all. It’s like the history class you always wished you had—one where you could knock down famous landmarks with a giant rock.
The gameplay is a perfect blend of strategy and mayhem. On one hand, you’re setting up cows, explosives, and giant fans to slow down your enemy. On the other, you’re barreling downhill, trying to avoid traps and laughing maniacally as you send your boulder flying through the air. Precision? Who needs it! The wilder the ride, the better the crash.
The humor is off the charts. The game takes you through history with a wink and a nudge, poking fun at everyone and everything along the way. Want to flatten Socrates with a giant rock? Go for it! Fancy rolling through the gates of Hades? Why not! Each level is packed with visual gags, ridiculous cutscenes, and the kind of humor that will have you chuckling for hours.
And the music? Nothing sets the mood for boulder-based destruction quite like some classical tunes. There’s something oddly satisfying about Beethoven playing while you smash through a medieval castle like a bowling ball knocking over pins.
The controls are a bit on the wild side—think of trying to steer a shopping cart with a rocket attached—but that’s part of the fun. And the AI? Let’s just say it has its moments. Sometimes it’s like playing against a rock (pun intended), other times it’s as if your opponent chugged a gallon of coffee and is out for blood.
In short, Rock of Ages is the perfect game for anyone who enjoys a bit of silliness, a dash of strategy, and a whole lot of smashing things with a giant rock. It’s a wild ride through history that doesn’t take itself seriously—and neither should you. So, get ready to roll, laugh, and maybe learn a little (but mostly laugh).
And its fucking nostalgic
This was insanely fun and it just makes you want more of everything- so glad they made sequels as I'm about to jump into those next. If there was anything I'd like to see polished up though is the following: in game descriptions of weapons/ball types even after you unlocked them, descriptions of character balls like snowball dies faster and block 2 shots doors, somewhere telling you how you need to jump at the exact point of impact to do some of the achievements, the fact you can bounce backwards off the enemy door and it not take damage, the long n narrow map you can fall through the ground at the end, bosses not always taking damage, give enemies the ability to snipe you, and the removal of pvp achievements as it's impossible to do them without a friend owning the game too.
