Amazing game!

A great trip down memory lane. The graphics now suck of course, but I can finally play the game with all eye candy blazing at a ridiculously high framerate - just what I always wanted ... about 25 years ago :)

The maps, the speed, rocket jumps, and simplicity of the arena death match will never lose their appeal to me. This grandmother of shooters simply rocks for those who have the reflexes.

This game is the best game I have ever played. Instant action. No BS.

It's Quake III Arena, the legendary arena shooter from 1999, which melted graphics cards and raised internet bills back in the days.

There's not much to say here other than it's pretty deserving of it's fame, they really nailed the weapons, maps and characters here.

Compared to Unreal Tournament, a now abandoned rival arena shooter, there's less game modes here, and less creative map designs and weapons, but this version here comes with the expansion "Team Arena", which added more stuff to the game.

It still works like a charm too, but you have to do some manual config tweaking to get the best of it.

The game was since superseeded by Quake Live, an updated version of Q3A with more maps, settings, more active players, etc., however, Q3A still has it's own charm and is a good way to practice against bots, or to try out some of the numerous mods that were made for it.

Although I'm not holding my breath for an official remaster due to the existence of the above-mentioned Quake Live and the fact that Q3A never had a proper single-player campaign, I would still recommend the game to newcommers, as well as enthusiasts, of the arena shooter sub-genre.

Despite how influence and how much enjoyment I get form it, I can not recommend it purchasing by legal means due to that money is gonna be funneling an genocide and the mass murder of Palestinian children, as because this is a Bethesda owned game, this game is there for an Microsoft game

My mind space is rocket jumping and shooting the railgun on floating platforms in an endless void.

one of the best shooters of all time, especially with mods like cpma (which is why steam doesn't detect my playtime). please buy this instead of modern AAA slop with loot boxes and other bs

It's a classic and if you consider yourself a real gamer you gotta give this game a shot at some point. Got this with the complete Quake/Unreal pack YEARS ago and it's great. Still has a dedicated player base too

In my opinion, the games Id Software made from Doom up to Quake 3 Arena are completely perfect. They also all have amazing source ports, so they can run on basically any modern operating system. It's just the perfect representation of what gaming can be when the development team is great and its intentions are good.

this twist on the id FPS has a lot of mud, blood & beer to keep anyone interested

Still fun in singleplayer or multiplayer, especially with the modding, there's plenty of maps and characters mods to download and mess around with. It's an old game but there's still fun in it, I played this on consoles before, but PC is obviously the better version to play Quake 3.

I pick up gun, I see guy, I shoot him, he dies and I win. Cool game.

This is a fake-multiplayer game, that's it. You just pretend to 1vX a bunch of bots and repeat.

One of the stupidest, waste of time FPS's, ever.

Quake 1+2 are much better.

Bethesda you better port this game next quakecon instead of releasing another mediocre doom port or I swear to John Romero I'm going to sh*t in a box and ship it to your headquarters-

FPS of the year, 26 years running. The best that ever was or, likely, will be. It's an unfortunate timeline we live in where none of its successors could quite capture its magic.
