Very fun and and interesting Classical-esque action rpg. 9/10
Would I recommend this game? I mean. Yes. I guess? It's clearly ambitious, has interesting story, pretty and unique environments. It feels like a game that the devs put a lot of love into the details of! It feels like whoever wrote it was having fun! Or at least letting the ol' creativity run wild. I like that! I like a game that commits to being what it is. This game does that!
It is not a good game. It's really difficult at times, and you kinda have to know how to build things to survive and do damage late game. It's janky! The plot feels really abrupt at times.
It does not run well on modern computers: as I reached the expansion/second half, I started to run into major crashing issues and ended up having to get an alt way to launch it + tweak a few things.
If you want to play a cool older game to see where a really incredible studio started from and you're okay with some jank, play it! If you want to see a genuinely beautiful older game with an interesting (albeit flawed) story, play it!
but man. be ready for some frustration.
has dragons
its cool but its just dated. like me
IMO if you want a 3rd person action RPG that sticks closer to an actual RPG then a 3rd person action game usually does. Think if Diablo, Grim Dawn, POE all had free 3rd person camera, its like that but with less overall monsters at a time.
Graphics are actually pretty amazing for the time.
Voice acting all over the place is amazing.
Music is again surprisingly amazing.
It has some issues with stuttering, you need to out of game via Nvidia panel or something similar to cap fps 1 frame above the target you want. AND make sure the game runs at that no problem. Vsync and what not do not work as the whole game is designed around 30-60fps for everything. SO do above and youll have a smooth ride of it.
Most of my experiences with my this game can be summed up to: Wait? I can do that? Awesome!
This game is just a huge power trip mechanic wise. The "in your face" plot is good enough on it's own, but if you like to read and explore, OMG, there is so much.
The game CAN be quite tough at point with mistakes in your build being punished. Xp, for the most part, is limited as most enemies don't re-spawn, so the game is constantly pushing forwards toward tougher opponents, however, the game has mechanics that reward risk-taking ie: "Holly everything does so much damage to me right now, BUT getting that lockpiking skill leveled up instead of resistance got me some pretty sweet loot."
Did I buy this under the belief that this was part of Divinity: Original Sin series? Yes.
Was it a happy little accident? Yes, This game is incredible.
Is it a bit old? Yes, but it's not "Janky."
The game, IMO has some pretty decent puzzles and "tactical" stuff to boot.
For an older title: UI is reasonable to use, most of it's mechanics survived the test of time and iv'e seen newer titles with less diversity in it, if you care about that stuff
i do not recommend this...
Loved this game when it came out on the xbox 360. To finally play it on PC with a modern GPU is overkill but extremely fun!
Old, kinda janky, but love coming back to it and replaying it.
great game
I played this many years ago. Not Developer's Cut. Now I like having extra things to play with, because I love this game, but I would love to ask questions to developers when I get very stuck in game. ;) Any way this game will always stay at the top of my favorite game list. I'd say top 5.

I wish I played this instead of Skyrim
Fun action RPG with easy-to-learn mechanics
i mean its janky as 2010 games go, but it has its charm, wish we get a 3rd game tho, Larian cant finish their trilogies, but they can for others eg. Baldurs Gate 3 lol
Truly I tell you.
One of mine first rpg as child overall.
Sit around mother and watch how she played this masterpiece, sometimes played with her.
Remember the first time launching myself, seeing that beauty of Commander Rhode and instantly had a crush
Remember being scared of those scary head ghosts. When I first played I was 6, and now I'm 21.
I found this game on steam 4 years ago, ofc buy it and replayed once again fully grown. Still had a crush on Rhode ha ha. Anyway, was hoping Larian went great after watching these developer's cut messages, movies, troubles. It went great as I see with Baldur's Gate and other chapters of Divinity so it's pleasant to see all ended well. Sad that you leaved thIs type of gameplay. This game is underrated but pretty cool.
Thanks, Larian for this memories and overall this forgotten masterpiece.
classic
Tried several times to get into this, but its just not my thing.
I have really mixed feelings about this one... It is so clunky, but the quality of writing is so superb, that it overcomes the downsides easily. Recommended for sure.
A forgotten and underrated game made by
Larian Studios back before all this new crap meant for the modern audience!
Divinity 2: Developers Cut is a huge open world rpg.
Th game-play is top notch and you can tell it was done with dedication!
difficult and different but fun
Need more dragon games, shame they didnt use the mechanic more
Gothic meets Jade Empire and Magic Carpet.
A nice little game (even if the questing can be tedious and the way to progress in the mainquest cryptic). Get it on a discount.
a very good rpg game
Stuttering, lagging, fps issues, crashes, technical hell, community mods improve but do not fix anything, waste of time and money, stay away! - played it back in the day on crt monitor and windows xp/7 it was working fine and it was a good game, sadly it does not work on modern operating system, components and 43 inch 4k monitor
Grow up playing this game. Love the story and its open world. Turning into a dragon and destroying enemies has the best fantasy.
A Hidden Gem of RPG Goodness - Divinity II: Developer's Cut Delivers a Fantastic Experience
Divinity II: Developer's Cut is a delightful surprise, a truly enjoyable RPG experience that deserves more recognition. It's a game that blends classic RPG elements with unique twists, creating a memorable adventure that's both engaging and rewarding.
One of the game's standout features is its dragon transformation mechanic. Flying through the skies as a powerful dragon is incredibly satisfying, and it adds a whole new dimension to exploration and combat. The ability to switch between human and dragon forms allows for a variety of gameplay styles, and it keeps things fresh and exciting.
The world of Rivellon is beautifully crafted, with diverse environments and a rich lore that's waiting to be discovered. The quests are well-written and engaging, often offering multiple solutions and meaningful choices that impact the story. The characters are memorable and well-voiced, and their interactions add depth and humor to the narrative.
The combat system is solid, offering a mix of melee, ranged, and magic abilities. The skill tree is robust, allowing for a high degree of customization and character development. The loot system is also satisfying, with plenty of unique items and equipment to find.
The Developer's Cut adds a wealth of improvements and enhancements, including a reworked ending, enhanced graphics, and improved performance. It's clear that the developers put a lot of care into refining the game and addressing player feedback.
Pros:
Unique dragon transformation mechanic.
Engaging story and well-written quests.
Memorable characters and excellent voice acting.
Solid combat system and robust skill tree.
Beautifully crafted world with rich lore.
Developer's Cut adds significant improvements and enhancements.
Great sense of humor.
Cons:
Some minor graphical quirks.
Can be a bit challenging at times.
Overall:
Divinity II: Developer's Cut is a hidden gem of an RPG that deserves to be played. It offers a unique and engaging experience that's sure to please fans of the genre. With its compelling story, memorable characters, and satisfying gameplay, Divinity II: Developer's Cut is a fantastic addition to any RPG fan's library. It's a testament to the creativity and passion of the developers, and it's a game that will leave you with a smile on your face.
👍👎
A one word summary would be "Frustrating".
This really is a curiosity game of Larian's developmental history. It's a third person action RPG with plenty of jank (and the trawling of the internet to find the patch to remove the microstutter is essential). You, a dragon hunter, are bewstowed a power to become a dragon to take on some great evil (called Damian - couldn't make it up!). Too cliched in places, the autosave is atrocious and some of the fights are ridiculously unbalanced if you manage to fudge your build. A lot of this game is spent hacking away at an army and then retreating to a safe place waiting for your mana and hitpoints to creep back up so you can re-enter the fray. Some of the 'puzzles' are downright silly and the dialogue / tone of the game can be 'off' thanks to some 'humour'. Then there's the cardinal sin.
Invisible walls. And they are aplenty. Morph into a dragon and then inexplicably get stuck.
This is one of those games that I continuously fail to finish, pick it up again over a year later, start over and then realise why I lost interest in it in the first place. It's not a must-play by any means but it can be fun. Pick it up on sale, don't expect any polish and you'll probably be fine with it.
Please make sure to install the Div2Patch from BlanknameES on Github, it addresses many of the games technical issues on modern systems (framerate, crashes, resolutions, keybindings, bugfixes, ...).
I played through the game with the included DLC in about 40 hours and overall it was a enjoyable experience, there's quite a lot of weird things going on in a playthrough, due to it's age and financially constrained development cycle. But if you enjoy to revisit older games, and deal with their shenanigans, then this might be something for you.
I would really love if they would build a worthy successor based on this amazing concept with their modern tech and creative freedoms <3
the Larian charm is in this game too
I beat this game 4 times on the xbox 360 and years later came back to do it again. Get Div2patcher though, it'll completely remove stutter from having more than 30fps, and it'll make the game smooth as butter.
One of the greats Great Dev Team at the time and great franchise. from game to game the Easter eggs and humor are consistent.
I had very low expectations from this game but it managed to surprise me a lot. It is a very good action RPG, A good store and lore, the combat is fun the graphics are a bit old for 2024 but it's worth overlooking that. Very few minor bugs and to be honest I don't understand why some people complain about the ending...
Anyway I recommend this game to all action RPG fans especially if you are a divinity series fab
.
This is the poster child for eurojank but it's still fun.
classic
Divinity 2 is at the first glance a nice game. Deeper into the game, especially in the late game, things become quite monotonous. Also there are some riddles without any real hint as how to solve them. Storywise things don't really make sense later and the ending sucks in my opinion, it doesn't feel fulfilling.
It's a good little 3rd person RPG in the vain of stuff like Two Worlds and Gothic. It's really cool to see what Larian was cooking up before they became a household name, and while it's obviously not as polished as the Original Sin games, it's good fun.
it's better than skyrim - nuff said
Highly underrated game
Not easy, Not dark souls and No quest markers
the skill tree is not bad, I enjoy the freedom to be a generalist
the no quest marker thing sounds dumb if you haven't had it before
but the map is constructed in a way that guides you through important quests
and most exploration will result in finding parts to other quests
mind read everyone important or suspicious
if your not confident or play aggressive af, spec into the ghost summon
he deals damage to enemies + heals you
and enjoy your dragon form, its not bad
Great game, i have played through it multiple times now
Cant even really play the game because there is so much stuttering that it actually is hurting my eyes and the only "solutions" for amd gpu's are to make it half as bad which is still atrocious stuttering
underwhelming
Larian please give for this game profile items and frames in steam, in the style of the game inventory!
Is it old? Yes.
Is it cool af? Yes.
Am I sad because I learned that Larian had to cut the multiplayer aspect out and I'll never get to play as a dragon with a friend? Absolutely.
but D R A G O N
I adored this third installment in Rivellon aka Divinity Series a LOT, but keep in mind that I'm a sucker for an action/adventure game AND I was also playing it over a decade after its release in quick succession to the previous two games set in this universe. I also also was almost exclusively a console gamer growing up, and this game ended up being a delightful reminder of those days.
also D R A G O N
it's worth the journey you take to get there.
dragon
You can see its age when you play, but honestly it is a lot of fun.
Divinity II never got the attention that it deverses, probably because it was released only shortly after Skyrim. In my opinion, Divinity II is one of the best action-RPG games in a fantasy setting ever made -- and best of all: you get to play as a dragon, fly around and spit fireballs in an air-superiority manner!
However, the game has one major downside and this is also the main reason why I have never attempted to replay this game a second time: this game has the worst ending in gaming history -- it is so bad that I remember Alt-F4-ing the game during the ending credits and immediately uninstalling it afterwards, because I was so frustrated and angry.
Just be prepared for the definition of a worst-possible ending and you have a really good chance enjoy this quite awesome game.
This video game is an old game, I'm replaying it and I gonna mention that with this patch: https://github.com/BlanknameES/Div2Patch/releases/tag/v0.97 the game wins good corrections because frametime and fluid feeling start to be real in my old monitor with static refresh rate. The game definitely is an action RPG videogame where playing as an hero or as a dragon, but as hero even this strong poing it can be deep fun, at the same time it can take lot of time, the game it isn't completed as others games, where as much you complete the game you see where devs were out of money and they had to end it hurry, still the game can be a dragon, hero experience where to fight as female or male criature, person and the way you can fight as archer, as a swordsman, magician or even as monk who invoke criature to fight for him or her. So yeah. I don't know why you keep reading, buy this beauty! It's a fun game. If you remember is an old game. ^^
Traitors larian studios who spat on my real-time & real-time-with-pause childhood. 0/10. Larian, go f yourself with your turn-based trash that destroyed a sequel.
