I grew up on Scribblenauts on the DS. Not a lot of content, not a lot of options-- honest to god, not really much of anything. Iteration on this series is what drove it to it's full potential, with Super Scribblenauts and beyond, all the way up to this. I truly think this is the definitive Scribblenauts, and while I hope one day yet another iteration will improve it further, this is a really solid sandbox title.

There isn't much to say about Scribblenauts Unlimited. It's Scribblenauts. If, like me, you have immense nostalgia for playing Scribblenauts on your DS and/or iPod Touch as a kid, you'll get a kick out of this game. That's where the appeal lies though - it's difficult to evaluate this since it was such a blatant nostalgia trip for me.
Objectively, the puzzles are nothing to write home about. An awful lot of them boil down to a character saying something like "Man, I wish I had a horse!", so you write "horse" and win. If you're looking for a puzzle game that's going to be a challenging or rewarding experience, this isn't really much of either. Similarly, it doesn't do anything groundbreaking as a sandbox, either. Yes, you can make a lot of things, but the vast majority of them are just reskins with the same handful of mechanics. This isn't some complex sim where you can mess around with all kinds of interconnected systems. I also kept getting a bug where the game would whitescreen and need to be Alt+F4ed when Alt-Tabbing - in my 6 hours of playtime, it probably occurred 20 times or so.
All of that said, it's Scribblenauts. If you're looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, this will more than deliver. If you don't have fond recollections of playing Scribblenauts as a kid, this is a mediocre and somewhat buggy puzzle/sandbox game that isn't great at being either. If you do, however, you'll have a grand old time with Scribblenauts Unlimited.
6.5/10 - Objectively, this is a simplistic and technically questionable puzzle game, but taken as a nostalgia trip, Scribblenauts Unlimited is a delight.

Don't be afraid to wiki the Object Shards
once upon a time i had a steam account with this game. sadly i lost access to it and so i could no longer play it. this was nearly a decade ago and recently i remembered this game existed. for the sake of nostalgia i decided to buy this when it was on sale. i still have just as much fun playing it now as i did when i was 12 years old. the workshop also adds an additional level of fun (and insanity). good game.
Don't make the lack of hours make you think my review is untrustworthy, I played this game on my old steam account before it was lost for good. I love this cute little game and as a dyslexic person its emberessingly challenging lol
Super Fun game for all ages but being 18+ does make it more easy to play. pretty short story but not short enough where it seems to quick. lots of fun and cool mods to have fun with and tons of replay abillty
I loved playing the old games on the DS growing up and this was so much like that!
One of my favorite games when I was younger. It's still fun, and I've almost fully completed it already. However, one annoying thing about the PC version is that when I switch tabs, the game sometimes turns into a white screen and crashes. Also, for some reason, I have to launch the game twice for it to start. It's kind of annoying, but I've gotten used to it. I still recommend this game, 7.5/10.
The gameplay gets a bit repetitive after a while but it's good for a few hours.

Just a fun kid-friendly puzzle game. The ability to create almost anything your mind can think of is so amazing. It's a super fun game and I wish they would have kept going with this franchise.

This game was fun enjoyed it. It was fun to solve the problems my way and above all else I liked the lesson at the end of the story. Pretty simple of a game but fun try it if ya have not already. 9/10
It's a fun game that lets you do lots of stuff. You can even use your creativity to spawn things or change characters either to complete the wishes of npcs, or just for fun.
Due to the way the game is made, each map you get into can be turned into a playground for you to do anything you want, or that comes to your mind. You can give weapons to npcs and make npcs fight each other, you can spawn zombies to zombify other npcs, and many more things. You are literally unrestricted about what you can spawn or what adjectives you can give, unless in the case of some special missions, where some npcs can't be added adjectives to.
The way the requests of npcs are done allows you to take broad solutions, either for the best solution ot their problem, or the most stupid or derivative one. For example, a crab creature wanting a house, you can spawn a house for it to it to use the house as its shell, and look very ridiculous. Like seriously, there were many moments where I completed a request with the most ridiculous solution, and ended up bursting in laughter. Beside I also managed to troll a bit on the requests aswell, heh.
And what do you get from doing all the requests in the game done? Well, a huge sandbox you can play with, because the things you can spawn and adjectives you can give to npcs are near limitless. And the best thing is: The state of the stage is saved when you leave, but if you want to reset the stage to play again with it, you can. The game menu allows you to reset the stage to the stage before you begin doing anything, so you can try anything else.
Of course, the game has some problems. One of them is that sometimes you might be unable to do some things, because you have no idea what adjective to type to change the npc. For example, making a npc eat fish. What adjective would one give to make that happen?
Also, some adjectives doesn't make sense, like "Intangible". Intangible literally means you're untouchable, which could mean you could pass through walls and not be hurt by anything. It not only doesn't allow you to pass through walls, but also allow you to be hurt by npcs. It only make you a bit transparent.
The other issue the game has is the skin customization of the player character. By the look is unclear what the buttons does, unless you go trial and error on them. Only later I discovered that clicking a ? button on top-right, and then clicking the buttons will show a tooltip telling what they do.
Anyways, the game is good, even more if you want to unleash your creativity.
I been wanting this game for a while, from seeing DanTDM and my other favorite Youtubers play it as a child. I used to only have Scribblenauts Remix, which was very limited, but now I have this one, and hands down, I've got to say it is one of my favorite puzzle(?) games of all times. The artstyle is unique, kinda reminding me of paper dolls, the story line's twist is original to me, the community made things (for the most part) are radical, the game is addicting, making me come back for more everyday since I've got it. I love all the mythical beings in it(except for mothman and siren, yall did em dirty) , the option to make your own avatar, etc. I just wish that after we beat the game's main storyline, that we could make our own little sandbox worlds, but I know this isn't gonna happen, since this game has been out since the 2010s, and I'm posting this on December 2024, but yeah.

i remembered playing this game as a kid with my family, and i saw it was on sale, so i bought both this and unmasked. i haven't played unmasked yet, but this game is just as fun as i remember it being. the wacky and over the top solutions for each problem is very funny. i played this on the kindle back then, but now i have the steam workshop (i have only spawned scout from tf2 in from it. i fly him around and he cries. it is very funny.) the ost is so incredibly amazing. i listen to it outside the game because it's just such a good and classic soundtrack. the main theme and the track playing at edwin's farm are my favorites personally. it was even better because i got the game 85% off because of a sale, but i think the game is worth the 25 USD is normally costs. lily is adorable, i love her so much.
tldr: please buy this game. it will bring you hours of fun. :thumbs_up:
At first, the game was supremely addictive because of the god-like powers you have, limited only by your creativity. It's no big deal to summon gigantic edible babies or to make a security guard sleepy or dead, and then resurrect them at will. However, the novelty fades after the first few hours, everything is too cartoony to take anything too seriously, and the game turns into a slog long before you fail to get an achievement for completing all the levels. I was so worn out I had no desire to go through the laundry list of object shards to get the last few hundred shards of Starite.

Fun and nostalgic.
Game is really lame; boasts "Endless Imagination" then I quickly find myself narrowed down to a few common word choices. This is a lamer game than the OG phone app. I am So Glad I only spent $2.99 and not full price.

A great simple game! I love the unlimitless creativity, I used to play Scribblenauts on mobile and I think on DS when I was a kid, but this game is even better.
Too many hidden shards: After 100% every level still dont have all of them. No hints or even info on getting the other starites/shards
This is entertaining with cheerful music and puzzles that aren't too difficult but can require some unique thinking. It's a good way to kill time, and I'd strongly recommend it at a discount, or full price if you have young kids you want to play with.
The bonus shards, once you have completed all of the areas and have to go through the settings to get to them, do not impress me. Some of them could be fun or clever, but the process of going to the settings, selecting the thing, toggling through pages, leaving the settings, typing the words to make the thing, over and over again got old very fast and it wasn't worth it to me.

Yeah, as you can see I spent a lot of time in this game. And honestly, I couldn't recommend this more. It's a nice family friendly game that has so many things you can do. We have a great main story where our main character Maxwell has to save his sister with his magic notebook. This notebook has the power to create anything. No joke. Anything that's in the game's code can be spawned using the notebook. If it's not in the code, create it! The object editor is an awesome way
