Didn't age well. Wonder why Driver San Francisco is not on Steam, that game was a blast.
I heard many good regarding Driver games and series. I didn't play it previously, just heard. I also seen many positive steam reviews regarding that franchise entry and decided to give it a shot. I will tell you one : I think it's pure nostalgia as in game where driving is one of the most important aspect... it feels like a soap. 78 era is terrible in that regard, 2006 is bit better. I cannot recommend it even if I finished it. I was curious if it will get better overtime, but... not a much of change. Not enough to recommend it for anyone to play,
After playing this game and beating it for the second time, here's my review. This is a GTA clone focused on New York City from the 70s to 2000s which is today when the game was released. I think the best mechanic well-known for this game is the change of eras that you don't see in other games, which are open-world games that follow the GTA formula. The missions range from simple to time-consuming depending on the ones you're doing. Some can even end in just under 1 minute. The first era is more of a tutorial since it gives you instructions on how the game mechanics work. The story is pretty generic so I won't talk about it so I'll give a short version. You're pretty much a guy that does jobs with dangerous people in New York City. When you get to the 2000s era the pacing for me feels like it goes way too quickly. The music is pretty good depending on your taste. From the 70s era to the 2000s era. You can upgrade vehicles which are fun to do if you have the money or you can do it for free by getting stars which is annoying to get and I'll talk about that now. The collectibles are stars you have to get in the game to get rewards in the game that are useful like free weapons, and parts for cars. The annoying part is getting the stars since their at places that can be hard to reach unless you have the patience to get them. Ubisoft when it comes to collecting stuff in games like this is never fun so you'll get angry trying to get them. When you get them you don't have to do the side jobs since they're pretty much useless on my end since I don't know If you get a reward for doing them. For guns, they range from a pistol that always has ammo to a minigun. For upgrading your cars it's pretty generic upgrading like for paint jobs, parts, and other stuff. it's worth it when you get it on sale. Trying to get the game on HD is pretty easy If you look up a guide on how to do that I was able to do it without a problem. I did get a few crashes when I played the game but nothing game-breaking so that's good. This is a pretty underrated game so it's worth getting. I give this game a 7 out of 10. I hope my review makes you think twice about getting the game. Have a good day.
I bought this game with low hopes thinking it wouldn't be like the other Driver installments, but it was one of the best games I played in a while, not to mention the music is hella good -- albeit I wished it was easier to select songs instead of having to flip through a good chunk of them.
It's a good Driver game. If you've played Driver 1, 2 and Driv3r you should play this one imo. Better than I expected.
I can't say nothing bad about this game, a throwback to simpler games, an absolute classic of pure fun while driving, crashing, shooting and lots of explosions.
Yeah it has some annoying and janky stuff, but it's part of the mix, a really good fun mix.
On sale for 2 bucks, it's an absolute steal.
Great game
😊Nostalgic, and starts up perfectly with Windows 10.
😠Controller in-game is a glitch to set up (might need to go 3rd-party).
Keeps bugging on pc but played it on steam deck, good game but i have ptsd on the cops in 78 and bishop
The only reason why i did end up playing this game was because of Driver 76.
Fun to drive around. Very oldschool. Story missions all suck, but other than that, it's cool.
What a nostalgia
Still a great game!!! brings back a lot of memories, wish they could remake or remaster this great game.
unfortunately controllers not supported
Not a bad game if you're looking for a casual fun game to play on a rainy or snowy weekend, when you're stuck in the house with nothing better to do. The game is short though, can probably be completed in less than 4 hours. The game interfaces just fine with modern XBOX controllers. For $3, the game is worth having in your library.
Baby driver before Baby was a baby
First half of the game is A-tier. Second Half of the game is a slog.
Ubisoft ahh car design
It gets stuck in the menu and doesn't work. Don't buy it
V good
Nostalgia from when i was 10
Decent 2000's open world game
Great game , have been wanting to replay this one for a while , game runs very well never had any crashes and also xbox one/series x controller works with this game despite no controller support listed. 8/10
REally stupid game, the races are completely rigged with bad directions so you have to memorize the bs roads instead of it just telling you the proper path.
Amazing game, best story I have ever seen!
great history, a lot of action, as " DRIVER" games
fun to play even in 2024
Turn off the Anti-Aliasing
it's great but the game continue to kick me out after i play for a while
Must said, I have a lot of memories in this game, I remember I played this game more than GTA SA back in the day, I was in love with the main character (The Kid) And as you can see, it is on my every Profile Picture! I am in love with his personality.
Anyways this one hour (At the time of writing this) was all good, no performance issue I am running on a GTX 1650 Max Q, So nothing fancy here. You can also connect your controller (There is a setting you need to enable it first) And you can play with no problem with a controller.
The graphics are slick! They're HD!
Everything else from the gameplay to the mechanics are just as good as they were, I wish Ubisoft remaster or remake this masterpiece, Amen.
And for this discounted price which is $1.99 I would say it is worth it!
Give it a try!
its pretty fun
This is actually a really fun game that reminds me of what games aren't these days
- No DLCs
- Cheat cods
- Cool unlockable items
- 4 GB storage space
- No weird bugs
Great old-school GTA-like experience with the unique division between two time periods. It contains memorable licensed music.
played for 4 hours stright and almost finished the game. good nostalgia trip, my main complaint in the shooting and aiming REALLY sucks in this game, but the driving makes up for it, also killer soundtrack for the 1978 erra.
why i cant use my controlller !!!!
90+% steam rating is extremely misleading—it should be ~70% at best (being generous)
Majority of positive reviews mention nostalgia
Environment lacks substance, doesn’t feel “alive“
Clumsy controls all around, especially affecting combat—will sorely benefit from a button reconfiguration
Steering/handling feels loose
Cars rebound/ricochet when colliding with other cars/objects and feel light/bouncy resulting in poor physics
Feels like they’re using “1970’s New York” as a crutch—there’s not much more to Parallel Lines than a hot playlist. I’ll put this on the back burner and may revisit it with a cleansed palate
Instead try: Sleeping Dogs, any GTA, Saints Row 2
All time classic will highly recommend it’s one of my favourites childhood games very underrated give it ago it’s worth it
Игры похожие на Driver® Parallel Lines
