For as wicked and weird these two games may be, I love them immensely.
Punchies combined with so much stuff that takes me out of my comfort zone.

really bad co-op, but if you can get it to work, the game is awesome. great sequel.
A more in-depth sequel to a rather unique game setup. First person melee combat is the specialty.
NOTE: Setting smoothed framerate above 90fps seems to break combos and certain moves. Seriously this shit took me nearly an hour to set up right in the tutorial
A beautifully crafted masterpiece of unbridled quirkiness.
Zeno Clash 2 takes place directly after the first game, continuing on the story with all the characters from the original, and in my opinion giving us one of the most outrageously weird and utterly awesome stories out there.
Combat is satisfying and fun, with a few more moves than the original game, allowing for extra brutal and wacky fights.
The artstyle and world designs are of course as good as they have ever been, with loads of awesome and crazy characters, beautifully bizarre maps and areas, and set pieces that'll have you staring in disbelief.
The game has traded in its predecessors more linear design, to be more open world in its approach, which in my opinion was a truly great decision.
Being more open world truly adds to the immersion and feel of the game, allowing for actual exploration which in many places is rewarded with loot, and occasionally even a side quest.
Pretty much all the different weapons from the original game make a reappearance, along with a slew of fresh ones.
The game adds a few new mechanics, one of which is the ability to recruit a companion who can be called in to aid you in certain fights.
Unlike the first game which was solely combat focused, Zeno Clash 2 adds a little bit of diversity with the addition of simple puzzles, solvable with the use of two new abilities you gain throughout the story, none of which distracts too much from the combat, which is of course still the main focus.
The introduction of multiplayer is absolutely outstanding, allowing two friends to play through the campaign together, truly elevating the game even more.
I will admit my multiplayer experience had a decent amount of issues, but none that made the game unplayable by any means.
I'm hesitant to liken this game to any other as it is somewhat within a niche of its own, but if I were to compare it to something, I would have to say it reminds me personally more of Borderlands than anything else.
More to to do with map layout and the way the story is presented than combat, but I would say that describing Zeno Clash 2 as a melee focused Borderlands, could be somewhat understandable, if a very crude description.
Honestly a fantastic game, and an outstanding sequel, improving on the original in pretty much every way.
I highly recommend you check this game out as it is in my opinion absolutely insane and a real fun time.
Played right after the first game, and compared to the first, the sequel is worse in terms of mechanics. The upgrade system is based on totems and not on fights which doesn't motivate the player to go into optional fights. The fight system got sluggish; sometimes there were bugs where the character stood and didn't respond to any inputs. In terms of the universe of Zenozoik, the game is great, but as I said the gameplay is worse and the game is too long and becomes very boring. The first half should've been reduced twice. I hope that Clash Artifacts of Chaos is much better.

Few games are as unapologetically *weird* as the Zeno Clash series. Boasting striking art, unhinged character designs, and esoteric worldbuilding, they're no less strange in the gameplay department, with unique mechanics that range from compelling to sloppy. A sort of first-person boxing adventure, Zeno Clash II picks up after the events of the first game: a strange, sentient Golem has imprisoned the Father-Mother who kidnapped protagonist Ghak and his siblings from their homes, planning to instill his 'civilized law' to break them of their supposedly barbaric ways of solving everything through street fighting. It only gets weirder from here, with Ghak and his adopted sister Rimat trying to find the Golem's weakness and make their peace with finding out that they were stolen from their homes as infants.
+Incredibly unique worldbuilding and art
+High-impact and satisfying, if sometimes janky, first-person boxing combat is very unique
+Lean and well-paced; very little padding and often introducing new mechanics and areas
-The story is pretty bare bones and the strangeness doesn't necessarily lend itself to depth
-Fights against more than one enemy become messy really quickly, with poor lock-on and running in circles to avoid being surrounded
-Enemies don't grant XP or loot, so non-mandatory fights feel a bit pointless to not just run past since you gain nothing from them
All in all, it's a very uneven package but I still can recommend it as one of those uniquely messy games that actually bursts with creativity and new ideas. They might not all pan out, but you can't knock the game for how boldly and consistently it tries something new.
The original Zeno Clash was fantastic. Somehow the second fell a bit flat for me. It's not to say it's not a good game, because it certainly has some of the same charm. With the largest amount of charm definitely being the combat system.
We don't get a huge amount of melee focused FPS style games, so this is certainly worth picking up when the price is right for you.
Fun combat and great style. Art that makes you really go "wut?" Co op works well and is how it should be played tbh. Doesn't overstay it's welcome either. ~6ish hours.
