Evil has returned! Demonic powers are manifesting themselves as a myriad of dark creatures, fighting over the fates of imprisoned souls caught in Purgatory.
Once again, it is up to Daniel Garner, in the unenviable position of being the Curse of Darkness and the Toy of Light, to fight his way past hordes of demons and fiends.
Questions remain… “Can he stop the powerful creatures that stand in his way? Will he ever leave the hell of Purgatory and be reunited with his wife Catherine?”

its like a fake game someone plays in a movie
shoot skelton in scaryland
classic
Missing entire levels and removes some of my favourite enemies. The Orphanage and City levels now suck ass and fail to create the original atmosphere. Get the original.
Flawed diamond.
Pros:
+ (kinda) Painkiller Black Edition, but with better graphics
+ new weapon
+ some music changes are great ! (yes, the one in Colosseum really slaps)
Cons:
- minor bugs still exist (bunny hopping can sometimes launch player into random direction)
- polish dubbing is obnoxious K**WA bad
- in cutscenes we can listen to some hmmm dialogue cut off ? I don't know maybe everyone in this game has dementia and they forgot what they wanted to say in the middle of sentence ?
- levels are splitted between main content and dlc . Yeah, we have new levels, but behind paywall. It is weird to kill main boss and then moving to some additional levels like factory.
- with new graphics, Painkiller Hell & Damnation lost a lot of in terms of grim atmosphere.
Summary:
This is still very good game, but it's flawed. And despite that, this is must-have title in your steam library
It's a fun action fps, no cover-like! Bunny hopping ftw. :D
A continuation to the og Painkiller, though I think most of the levels are the same. You get a little bit more of the story, but that was never really the priority in this series.
The isometric DLC mode is interesting and if you really like the game, the survival maps are plenty challenging.
.
yes
Painkiller Hell and Damnation is a retro arcade shooter which harkens back to the days of old for first person shooters. Cut your ways through mindless hordes of enemies using an array of guns and strafing. Overall the game is visually appealing and the cutscenes are very well done in terms of conveying what minimal story the game has. And this is the games main fault, in essence its story is very minimalistic, not that it represents a genre strong in this regard but if a first person shooter is to be centralized around single player gameplay then the main story should be engaging. Multiplayer is also an option with this game although it seems an afterthought. Regardless this game delivers on action and is a fast paced shooting experience. Recommended for casual play or those wanting to pick up something that will take them back to the older days of FPS.
It's a very good translation of the original game into Unreal engine, but sadly it is far too short :/
One of the best FPS of all times in my opinion!
The story is completely diffrent with a chunk of the levels being cut. Not a bad remaster but play the original instead.
+
Polish game similar to Quake1 and with many elements of which. Even menu sounds! Sooo coool!!!!!!
Gunplay 10/10
Levels 10/10
Stakegun 10/10
aspirine.
it's kind of like the Serious Sam fusion of painkiller
Meh not bad not great
I really enjoy boomer shooters, so I had to give this and the original painkiller black edition a try.
Sadly I can't really recommend the series, it was easier to forgive the jank and plain design in the original one, and while this remaster/sequel plays "better" in various aspects, not much changes from the original game.
I think many other games have much better mechanics to offer in the genre, souls appearing seconds after killing an enemy, and not where the enemy died but wherever the body flew off to after taking some serious force, is fairly anti intuitive and honestly actively ruins the game loop. Even switching to the weapon that sucks up the souls requires you to stop shooting at the hordes of enemies, and look around for whatever bodies got flinged across the level.
After you play one level you've played them all, even for an arena shooter it feels fairly uninspired.
It isn't "brainless" enough nor engaging enough of a game, it got old kinda fast.
The original janky cutscenes at least was a source of some laughs, but the 2012 remaster is hardly as hilarious, and there really isn't much to say about the writing.
I bought all the games for 6 bucks, so it's hard to complain for that price to test out a part of fps history, but I can't recommend it to anyone to pick up, but hey maybe the formula is good enough for some people.
I just personally believe there's many games in the genre and style that have a whole lot more to offer for your time, which is more valuable than whatever money you throw at this.
It's a nice experience to just run around and kill without a thought in the world
Hell yeah
What Doom Eternal should have been
Heavy metal. Big guns. Endless monster hordes. Jon St. John. Enough said.
simple
far from a flawless game, but it's so video game, I was a bit disappointed at the "normal" rocket launcher weapon with a "boring" chaingun alt-fire because the weapons are that wacky. emperor of slavjank, polska doskonałość
Painkiller: Hell & Damnation remains a timeless classic, delivering unadulterated gaming bliss. A refreshing throwback to an era where games focused solely on entertainment, free from extraneous distractions.
A true testament to the power of straightforward, skill-driven gameplay, this title continues to captivate audiences with its intense action and uncompromising challenge.
If you're seeking an unapologetically fun gaming experience, look no further.
AWESOME GAME EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
