Sanctum 2 is a new game completely rebuilt from the ground up using community feedback and innovative design to really push the bar of what an independent studio can do.
Intense Action – Deep Strategy
In Sanctum 2, you will utilize elements from multiple gameplay genres to succeed. Construct towers and walls during the building phase before the enemies attack, then jump into the fray and blast everything to pieces in FPS mode. You can progress through the single-player campaign yourself, or play with up to four friends in co-op to discover the secrets of the planet LOEK III and learn the backstory on why the aliens are so intent on destroying the Cores you are sworn to protect.
Key Features
Building on the success of the original game, Sanctum 2 stands alone as the only true FPS/Tower Defense hybrid. No other title delivers gameplay that seamlessly combines both genres.
- Tower Defense – Design complex mazes and build powerful towers to stop the enemies from destroying the Cores.
- First-Person Shooter – Don’t just sit back and watch, jump into the action yourself!
- Four playable character classes – Each with their own unique strengths, weaknesses and weapons.
- Vast Customization System – Pick perks or make the game crazy hard by adding Feats of Strength.
- In-game Visual Novel – Unlock a comic-book page for every map you beat to discover the secrets of LOEK III.
- Progression System – Increase your rank and unlock new weapons, towers and perks.
- 4-Player Co-op – Progress through the storyline yourself or team up with other players whenever you want.

I am going to need Sanctum 3
Meh.
Simple and fun. Multiplayer is a blast.
This was a great game and I enjoyed playing the first time and again years later. I wish there were more games like it.
Yo Goood !! Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaw!
BEST TOWER DEFENSE GAME EVER!!!
while this game has more going on than sanctum 1 and fixes a good amount of issues, such as ginormous block pathways that you can barely jump over let alone get a good view of anything, immerses the view to explain why you have to be there, through the subtle hint that the placements are all orbital drops and need you to specify coordinates. It even balances the player weapons to be nearly necessary although maybe not still approached correctly. This game still has issues, namely with the core concept that I complained about in the first game.
There's still overwhelming potential for what the game could be, the game suffers from having an idea but only taking the shallowest approach to the games concept, grid based pathway building, towers that all function individually and don't benefit from better placement or suffer from poor placement save for not putting them in range. There's no benefit to building more direct paths so you always just need to immediately place the blocks to make the path as long as possible. Weapons while more useful than in 1, the problem of them only being there to keep the players attention during the waves is the biggest problem. It chooses to make the guns more useful than the towers but that just means that either you ignore tower building and spam whatever towers you have and just shoot the enemies running in a straight line or you just shoot because you're bored and it speeds up the wave. There's not really a necessity for the weapons in a way where not having them would break the game. I'm not saying that guns shouldn't be in the game, I just wish there was more of a reason for them or at least something to make you pay attention during the waves instead of it speeds things up, hell even having one enemy type immune to all towers that you HAVE to shoot, while fucking bullshit, would still be an improvement.
enemies could be more interesting, the shooting more ingrained, the towers could have more depth to allow for the player to have meaningful choices with path building, which the path building could be more freeform to not feel like a necessary waste of time at the start of every game where you just spend 5 minutes slowly placing the blocks to build the set maze that's required for each map.
Sanctum has potential, sanctum 2 isn't bad, sanctum 1 isn't bad, they're both great, but they have enough potential it makes me question why nothing has been done with the ideas here especially when the style, music and setting all are excellent.
Man this is my kind of tower defense, this and Dillons Rolling Western. Characters are well designed, setting is cool, graphics are good, gameplay is good. My only complaint is that doesn’t really leave me wanting to press on though the story, I don’t know what it is but progression just feels meh. its good for its price, and if you catch it on sale, the deal is even sweeter.
Hey this game absolutely rocks but the friend I played it with moved on from it so I didn't end up playing much.
Recently went back to play this game I loved it as a kid, and man, it still holds up! Pro tip: if you edit the engine.ini file in your Documents folder to uncap the frame rate, the game runs at 400-500 fps, and it feels so much smoother. It really makes a difference.
The music, atmosphere, graphics, and strategy are still as good as I remember and still to this day are just as impressive and immersive feels like a weird fusion of Mirrors Edge and Destiny 2 in terms of vibes and i love it. Don’t listen to the negative review not sure whats up with that guy that just posted one – the real strategy isn’t just in the turrets. It’s all about how you build your maze along with the turrets then the class and perks you have. There’s a lot more depth to it than people might think.
If you haven't played Sanctum 2 yet, or it’s been a while, you should definitely check it out. It’s like if Destiny 2 and Dungeon Defenders had a baby. Multiple classes, different towers to unlock, a bunch of difficulty levels, and tons of progression. Plus, it’s multiplayer, so it’s a blast with friends.
Honestly, if they made a third game, I think it could blow up. Imagine bigger maps, a deeper campaign, more class/build options, and maybe even a skill tree. Turrets could get even better too. There’s so much room for improvement, but even as it is, it’s awesome.
In conclusion just set it to max graphics, uncap the fps in the ini file, tweak the keybinds a bit, buy all the dlc just to have all the content (more turrets, classes, perks, maps.) and you’re good to go. More people need to be playing this game – it’s a hidden gem with well over 25 hours of content!
Playing this, I fully understand why the devs decided to focus their attention elsewhere. They clearly cannot make Tower Defense games if their lives depended on it. How did they manage to make this game feel even more outdated than the first one, which feels, and plays like a PS3 game? It actually made me feel nostalgic for it.
Everything feels weightless and unimpactful, ranging from character movement, to enemy physics. For instance, the game has a shotgun that can shoot all its bullets at once, like in many other FPS games, and you'd think that it'd feel awesome, but even THAT somehow feels unsatisfying.
Anyway, they decided to change a bunch of stuff, almost exclusively for the worse. You now have a tower limit... for some reason. You can no longer see wave information after you press ESC. Speaking of which, you cannot PAUSE in this game, since I assume it's always online to support coop play, and the waves will automatically start after a while, unlike the first game, which let you do whatever between waves. I cannot stress how shit this feels, especially since there are no longer checkpoints every few waves. But hey, at least each map lasts five to fifteen levels now, instead of the overkill thirty of first game.
Then, there's some questionable stuff, like the fact that the game now has four different characters, each with their own kit. You cannot, for instance, use Guy B with Guy's A starting weapon. I understand putting limitations to increase gameplay diversity and difficulty, but I don't think this is how you do it. Oh, speaking of weapons, you can longer upgrade them, which is also questionable. Then there's a bunch of stuff that's subjective, like perks, and what have you, but I've already wasted enough time reviewing this awful game.
Honestly? Play the first one. It's better. Sanctum 2? More like Rectum Too. lol!
An affordable and timeless sci-fi tower defense that implements a person shooter perspective.
Great game all around. More fun with friends.
Decent RPS and decent Shooter.
This game is my antidepressant!
Good game, trying to beat it without towers is a fun challenge
8/10
One of the most creative and best FPS tower defence games ever created. It is a small niche mind you as there are only 3-4 worthy contenders and IMO it is the finest of the lot! So I have half the DLC and looking to get the other half BECAUSE IT IS THAT GUD :)
Yeah surely recommended on sale, or if you can afford full price! Yet with all the LEGIT stores these days
that you can get keys from you should be able to get this great game for a kiss basically.
9/10
TLDR; Bad movement, terrible reworked tower system, unsatisfying weapons, mediocre maps. Avoid.
Many years ago, long before I had my PC and my laptop was out of commission, I played this game's demo on my Xbox 360 all the time. I played the introduction level and the official first level over and over again. I never played the first game and never looked into it so Sanctum 2 was my introduction to everything.
I just finished Sanctum 1 and both of it's map packs (Haven't done the Christmas one nor the Yogscave DLCs yet) and hopped onto Sanctum 2. The difference is insane and I haven't been so frustrated at a game before. So many systems were changed, reworked, or entirely removed and replaced (or not at all) with something I find to be inferior.
Starting with the overall performance of the game, this game's wack. This game auto-smooths the frames since it's Unreal Engine 3. The problem with this auto-smoothing is that every menu in this game is locked at 30fps and the actual game itself is capped at 60fps. I think the game tries to combat this by smoothing the frames like a transition between the 30fps and 60fps but it just hurts my eyes.
The movement is super floaty- I genuinely despise whatever was done with this. I feel like a waterlogged balloon. The way my character wobbles around the map and just awkwardly responds to my controls is absolutely frustrating and is super disorienting.
I don't like the new tower system either. Playing through a few missions, there's a cap on the towers which is 15- WHAT?? Why is there a cap on towers?? Why is the maximum on towers 3 instead of 6?? I saw somebody say this was due to Unreal Engine 3's limitations- but then why does the sandbox mode allow you to place as many as you want? Sandbox mode doesn't raise your rank either so you don't actually progress in the game and unlock new weapons, towers, and perks.
Speaking of the weapons, I was profoundly disappointed when playing as the sniper robot guy. Being a sniper is my favorite class in most games. Something about the sniper in this game compared to Sanctum 1, even all the other games I've used sniper rifles, something is terribly wrong with the gun in this game. The removal of the weapon upgrade system, mostly replaced with the perks system, was greatly disappointing. I liked the feeling of my tesla and sniper in Sanctum 1 get stronger and stronger.
The maps are mediocre. Many years ago my brother warned me about buying this game and I listened, he told me that after the demo- the maps fall off a cliff and they just aren't that good. When I bought this game I reassured myself that it wasn't true, but now I see he was absolutely right. These maps just aren't fun.
A minor thing that annoyed me was that the game automatically had me set so other people can join me- and because of that "always online" thing, I can't pause the game even if I set it to a singleplayer thing manually through the network settings.
This game is brilliant and looks great for a 360/PS3 game. This was an upgrade over Sanctum 1 in most ways. Gunplay is better, there are more maps, more towers, a perk system, a character select where different characters have different play styles and more. There is generally more to do as you can unlock more perks, guns and towers as you level up whereas in Sanctum 1 you have everything unlocked immediately. The only downside is the tower limit and timer on certain waves before the game starts automatically. This isnt really that big an issue when you can overcharge towers past level 3 and the campaign levels are too short to reach the tower limit anyways unless your playing coop then MAYBE you might reach it.
The story is one of the key parts of this game. It isnt mind blowing but its enjoyable. It gave Skye Autumn, the Sanctum 1 protag more of a personality and character. The comic book style is great but I wish there were more ingame cutscenes besides beating The End and the Last Stand. The DLC's are great and I highly recommend you get them if you enjoy Sanctum 2 as they add so much more content like more towers, levels, perks, guns and a new character in TSYGAN (even tho she sucks, I dont recommend playing her).
My only criticisms with the game are that including the DLC's, you only have 32 levels, your only reason to replay them are to unlock more levels, to play Five Feats of Strength, play the survival mode, or help with friends on their campaigns. The tower limit and time limit on some waves are unnecessary, especially for survival. The survival, while better than Sanctum 1's survival, is severely unforgiving if you do not have a good build and tower setup. Playing the campaign solo is also a pain if you are playing any character that isnt Sweet Autumn or maybe Haigen Hawkins if you have a solid build with him. Skye, SiMo and especially TSYGAN do not have good crowd control and with how much this game centers around the player doing damage much more than Sanctum 1 did, solo play severely limits you UNLESS you bring some of the best towers like the Focus and make up a good strategy with them. The story of the base game also leaves you on a cliffhanger UNLESS you play through all the DLC's to finish the story.
Overall this game is brilliant and if you enjoy TD games or FPS games, I highly suggest you check this one out, preferably with friends as it improves the experience but solo play isnt boring. Now we just need a Sanctum 3 to continue where this one left off.
I remember a long time ago someone asked me to transfer valuables to him and I didnt know what tf I was doing and got scammed
fuck you faggot
NOTE: I have around 200 hours on my old account on this game.
Awesome game, unfortunately, it's dead (multiplayer is really hard to find).
Sanctum 3 would be very much appreciated.
Pretty old game but it's still good! Action packed, wide array of buildings to build. Recommend it especially cause I got it at such a low price. Two thumbs up!
5/10 Too old, didn't age well I would say.
Phenomenal FPS TD Game. This plus orcs must die are the best of this style of TD of controlling your own character in the mess while making your tower defense. Rip Deathtrap never actually making it to the finish line. Maybe one day that Sanctum 3 will come.
ChatGPT please write a positive review for me
FPS tower defence, LOVE IT !
Its got some clunky physics sometimes, but the overall premise is quite fun for me. This is the first and only tower defense game i've played but i like it a lot. Playing with friends is also recommended. Some of the enemies and waves seem extremely unbalanced, but with some help (which seems to be the point) its not as bad.
Finally got around to playing this game after not having realised that I bought this MANY years ago XD.
It's a bit of a let down tbh, the optimisation is truly horrible for some reason, I can't really seem to hold more than 60fps and it dips quite a bit. Graphical changes make 0 different to he performance.
Aside from that the gameplay this game offers would've been quite decent back in the day but as of today's date 2024, it does not. It's just not exciting and it's quite easy unless you make stupid mistakes.
After viewing a lot of the negative comments about lack of time, weak towers, tower range, multiple attack points and or story I've come to the conclusion that A) they are kids complaining and not understanding mechanics or B) they are naturally horrible at tower defences...
As for the comic book side of things... Go read a book.
Very entertaining FPS Tower Defense! Different weapons and defense towers to choose from and manually pathing the enemies with walls is a lot of fun.
Sanctum 2 at is base is a pretty cool game but it severely lacks depth. Each level is preceded by a mere single page comic book to add a semblance of story that is frankly non-existent. Each level has NPCs but there's no dialogue interaction, nor any examining of objects for you to digest lore. Levels are only a few waves long, meaning you spend the entire time setting up your blockade and towers, with hardly any time to upgrade. There's little satisfaction to be had once you have strategically laid out your towers.
solo play is hard
Decent game, I recommend it for some nice tower defense genre fun! The DLCs are a nice add-on!
<3<3<3^~^This classic FPS-TD is still an incredibly fun option, even now that it's so many years later!^_^<3<3<3
honestly, it just depressin'.
Old but very cool game + trading cards & achievements. Almost every level is a well-thought-out puzzle, which is very interesting to pass both in single-player and in multiplayer mode.
Tower defence mixed with FPS? count me in.
This game takes both elements and combine them in a very good way.
Even today this game aged well, peraphs the graphics are lacking but the gameplay makes up for it.
Got the game for 3 $ with a friend, totally worth it.
Good hybrid of tower defense and FPS. It also features mazing, which is a key element of tower defense games, that I was scared was going to be removed in this game to keep things simple.
Being a tower defense, it innately has decent replay-ability. It is fun to try all available characters too. Your character feels strong, but you definitely need the towers too.
I bought this game 10 years ago and its one of my favourite games, i cant even pinpoint why exactly.
Very good art style and direction, the scenery in every level is beautiful. The character design too. Very interesting gameplay mix of TD and shooting, with various perks that can tip the scale to either side.
While very visibly unreal engine 3, i think its one of the prettiest games made with that engine. You can tell that much of the game is made with love as theres easter eggs and little other details everywhere.
Great Tower defense / First Person Shooter Combined game. Very Challenging, super cool. Cannot recommend enough! Also Sanctum 1 was fantastic as well.
3
Elegant Ethereal Blissnisss of a game!!!!
closed the game to go to sleep and proceeded to build a maze with my desktop icons.
10/10 would not sleep again
it's a decent game but it has the issue lots of unreal 3 games had back then where you can really feel how outdated it is
weapons feel weak, enemies just drop dead and disappear. levels have all this detail but it just doesn't look very good
i'd only get it if you really like FPS TD games
Игры похожие на Sanctum 2
