These 21st century soldiers are equipped much better than their 1994 predecessors. They have 8 types of machinery, suitable for land, surface and airborne operations, as well as 17 types of weapon from assault rifles to the nuclear bomb.
Skirmishes take place all around the world and even in space! You'll fight throughout the day and night, in hot and cold weather, in snow and rain. The enemy is skilled - there're terrorists from all over the world and they have cutting-edge technologies at their disposal: teleportation and various mechanized combat systems. Our heroes will face great challenges - artillery strikes, insuperable force fields, automated turrets, suicide soldiers and giant humanoid robots.
Your savvy will come in handy: your actions aren't limited to slaughter and destruction. You'll have to capture enemy vehicles and bases, save hostages and rescue convicts, hold the line and shoot back from the turrets, search for data discs and spare parts, repair broken robots and bypass minefields. The high command carefully watches your operation’s progress: missions can be aborted because of major offence; minor misbehavior will be reprimanded, and great achievements will be rewarded with medals and promotions. In the end, the very best soldiers will receive the greatest reward: they will return to home camp where warm army barracks, hot army food, soft army bunks and a tender drill sergeant await them. Until the next time.

I played Cannon Fodder originally on Amiga 1200 back in the 90's so this was a blast from the past to play this. Cannon Fodder 3 is a KB&M game with rebooted graphics. It's fun to play and I recommend this to any fan of the game.
I agree with many of the other comments good and bad.
For sure there is some nostalgia, the loading times are terrible, haven't tried the fix yet.
Churn thru the grunts with little remorse, seems a shame.
Music could be better.
Otherwise I enjoy the top down graphics, controls are easy enough and there are a fair few challenges thus far.
I did not pay full price, so happy enough with my purchase to kill some time and reminisce.
Wasn't too impressed at first, but after sleeping over it and giving it another chance, it's quite fun.
Very fun. If you explode them just right they splat on your screen. Fun time killer.
Great keyboard fun. When someone dies you really feel it as you raised them up.
Cannon Fodder 3, like the previous two games, is a fun war game romp through various levels of increasing difficulty. You start off with a certain amount of troops that will travel with you through level to level mindful if you can keep them alive that is. Either point and click, use WASD, or a gamepad to control your team. Fire weapons and throw grenades. Hop into various vehicles and engage with the various details in the background.
Graphics are top down 3D, which is reminiscent of the previous first 2D games. Details are fun and colorful. Visuals are not stunning but they entirely serve the purpose to this games main groove and mojo - a colorful rendition, with touches of various details and humor, of a serious topic splattered (no pun intended) throughout.
Sound is somewhat repetive and I miss the various absurd death screams from the first game in particular - which were hilarious . Here they are more subdued but still serviceable to their goal and are fun to be sure.
I don't know why many people have not heard of this series; perhaps it has slipped under the radar for most people. I highly recommend it and hope to see a new Cannon Fodder 4 in the future with the return of the poor, enemy soldier death screams that were so comical to the first in the series. :-)
What's not to love? My only gripe is that some earlier missions are harder to pass than later ones.
Strangely or unexpectedly the bad reviews are from those who've played the game for less than an hour. Maybe the game is not for them in which case they should have refunded it instead of painting it black.
This is a fun game that you don't need to think too much about.
Yes, it's true that it takes an unbelievably long time to load between levels. It's no exaggeration to say there's ample time to make a cup of tea, boil an egg and make toast in the time it takes to load. I've done it! I considered giving it a thumbs down for that reason. But the truth is there are faster and newer games that are so much less fun than Cannon Fodder 3 and I could spend hours on an inferior modern game, be far less entertained and have no time between levels in which to chuck the hoover round or feed the cat or whatever.
Other reviewers have compared it to the original Cannon Fodder and I can see why they were generally disappointed but this is essentially the same game with some modifications. There are a whole load of new weapons, gimmicks and vehicles that, on the whole, look good and are fun to try but hardly help you complete the missions at all. But I don't mind that.
There's something strange about the way the game scrolls which is reminiscent of trying focus on the landscape whizzing past you while you're facing forward on a fast moving train which is distracting and irritating and takes some getting used to.
It's not hard to play and not hard progress through the levels but I don't play this game for a challenge. I play it to veg out. So, I would recommend this game for those times when you just need a distraction and you don't want something that's going to take up too much brainpower.
Mediocre Reboot of a classic.
I had hoped for so much more after all this time. These guys are not sensi-soft...
Having played the originals on the Amiga I was very disappointed with this version. It felt like a cheap makeover to make some quick money.
I have played the old ones, 1 and 2, and to be honest this is only a shadow compared to originals.
Early 90s quality videos, huge time loadings, frames droping , awful music and crappy sounds. I wish this game was what I expected for a well known franchise like Cannon Fodder.
Good looks, but no Cannon Fodder. It's a remake of the original with no regard of the basic things that made it stand out. Feels more like Worms rather than CF.
This game is pretty terrible, which is depressing considering how much I loved the old games. Load times are long, especially considering my computer should have zero problem with this game. The controls feel bad. The camera controls badly as well. Graphics are bad. Skip this game. I'd have more fun playing the older games.
Maybe it is not totally like "old cannon fodder" (and it does has genneral with funny russian accent) but game is in general great and it totally has the spirit of old cannon fodder and I played old one on my friends amiga and it was great. And this one does fells same I totally recommend this game :)

cannon 1 and 2 had unique humour it was made by a bunch of renegades of the 80s who made their creative mark on the originals all the fun and anti systemic/war undertones of dark humour are gone it is just a soulless boom boom jar head bash.

in our day war were never so much Fun. no fuss. go to ya brother, kill im wiv ya gun, easy! course now days its all, brain bleaching, social network assassinating, diseased commerce with a germ warfare mixer an a lil umbrella, well wot happened to good old solid wholesome lying in ya uniform dieing in sun ay!!?! ....AY!

The play control is horrible. The camera is mapped to the mouse and whenever you move the mouse the camera follows, then it moves back to the unit on it's own. This makes me sick with the constant scrolling. Your natural instinct is to use the mouse to select things but you cannot, instead teh camera moves. I had to stop playing because the camera/mouse moving was making me sick. Which is a shame, i loved this game a sa kid, alas this new version is a major letdown.
While not as cute and endearing as the original, I do still enjoy this little mini shooter. Runs well and keeps me occupied.
Well, Its what you Expect from Cannon Fodder ... Its great, amusing game of war. As their motto is War has never been so much fun.
But Beware.... Even as we are in 2014... Still the loading sequence between EACH LEVEL takes between 1-2 mins... Its STUPID LONG AND RIDICULOUS !!!
One of my new favorite games! This one plays just like you remember the old Cannon Fodder games, except you get lots of different weapons, and the graphics are more modern.
Please do not buy Cannon Fodder 3.
Do not let nostalgia and a low price point con you into exchanging money for this fetid turd of a game. It is an embarrassment and a tragedy that such an awful game should even be released, let alone one intended to revive one of the greatest RTS series of the 90s.
Spend your money more wisely - grab the original Cannon Fodder on GOG.com for $7, then spend the remaining $10 on chocolate milk and cookies.
