Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare - Gold Edition

The most janky and lukewarm of the first few "advanced warfare" -esque COD titles from the 2010's, terrible optimization, and poor accessibility, not to mention several caveats on how much this game sucks ass

I was loving the game. A full on, proper power fantasy. A story of brotherhood with no love interests. I couldn't believe it.
But then it started showing its flaws.
- The game kept crashing every time I quit. I repeat: every time.
- The multiplayer of this game is dead, so if you don't have at least one friend top play it with, just forget it's even there don't even waste time installing it (I did and I tried finding a match many times with zero success).
- Inconsisten mission markers. Sometimes the yellow arrows which tell you where to go just disappear cause you are looking either up or dow, or they are just down behind you. There are a lot of "open sections" which trick you into thinking you can go one way but you can't jump over a small wall or a car with your exo-suit's jump boost.
- Long, boring, repetitive and abundant vehicle sections.
- And the one thing which killed the game for me, at a point in the game they force to kill a certain character right after acknowledging said character never could kill you or your team after having many chances to do so cause he was fond af you all, yet they force to kill him so you can continue with the game. I'm not gonna get into how it went against my morals, but I will point out they could give you the choice. The mission was to capture him alive after all.
Anyway. Get Moder Warfare I, BlackOps or World At War instead to fill your CoD needs. The cartoonish nature of this game hurts it in comparison to the other more realistic ones.

Game automatically chooses highest graphical settings also get to the part where you need to escape the furnace and you have to push the cart but game is broken and you just die as nothing happens. Contacted Activision support and waited 2 weeks with no support, no email back about the broken game. Trash game trash provider cannot explain just how disappointed I am with being so close to the end to have to uninstall because it is broken.

Best call of duty ever you actually fight the bad guy in the end and in real cancel life sadly, but jokes a side grate story and game play, and of course buy on a sale this game is over 10 years old there is no way in hell that this is $ 60 when they have the 60% at least buy it.

Everyone always said the campaign was good, but I just didn't think so. The shooting was ok, the missions where meh, and the story was forgetable. The sound design is very strange as well. Guns sound weak, and often in levels there is no music or amibance making it feel very liminal almost

Always loved this game, maybe even my favourite.

But this is only worth buying when it's on sale, as continuing to charge $50 for this is absurd.

It's a good looking game don't get me wrong, with decent graphics and a good story, but the game play is definitely on the clunkier side and there's not even an FOV Slider, meaning unless you can put up with the terrible default FOV you're gonna have to tweak the config file, which isn't hard, simply put "seta cg_fov "your desired fov here" "and it'll work, but you're gonna have to do that before you boot the game every time, because it seems to reset after you close it down.

Oh and campaign is really the only sell able thing here, as the multiplayer is completely dead, so unless you can drag friends on to do a private lobby, or you're fine with going against brainless bots (or solo in the case of Zombies), you're not getting much gameplay out of that.

I'd be willing to give this a thumbs up if they lowered the price to someting reasonable and added an FOV slider, but that's never going to happen.

Best Campaign-writing hands down and even the graphics are pretty comparable to newer CODs (which says less about this game and more about how much "work" went into the new engine)
Get it on sale and return to a simpler pre-Microsoft-Activision where the yearly COD was not just a front to sell skins for 30 bucks.

Played multiplayer for many hours back in the day and re-installed singleplayer to complete the achievements from the campaign. If you have frame stuttering / low framerate issues, check and disable "fill remaining memory". Other than that it ran flawlessly even on Linux.

Interesting take. Great graphics. Good campaign.

After a few years I finally wanted to try this game and play the single player campaign but unfortunately I cant recommend it because this game is keep crashing after a few seconds.... I can not even pass the first Cutscene without any crash...WOW thats a world record!!!
Also seems like other people do have that Problem and there is probably no fix for that.

It's actually a shame that these greedy developers are charging €60 for this game (€20 at the most, during the sale). Seriously F*ck you Activision!!

EDIT: well, seems like you can fix the crashes when you just install the Mulltiplayer aswell. which doesnt really make sense, when you just want to play the Campaign.

Great Zombies but there is no support for bug fixes and random issues. Get it if you just like exo zombies and the campaign otherwise don't. Game kept crashing ever time i died in multiplayer.

Game keeps crashing during campaign, disappointed and infuriating to lose all my data that I worked on playing this game. It frequently freezes and kicks me out of the game. Didn't bother playing multiplayer and zombies as the multiplayer is not up to standard.

The game is great. It was having mouse issues (fixed roughly with lot of tinkering), stuttering frames after few minutes of play (mostly on next mission starting and after cinematic) and crashing every now and then, Kept restarting it and progressing through and finally finished it.

Oyunda tek sevmediğim kasa düşürme olayı aynısı iwde de vardı pek alışamadım. Maplere gelecek olursak gayet yerinde güzel tasarımları var. Puan verecek olursam multiye 10 üzerinden 7 veriyorum. Gelelim zombiye bana kalırsa haritaları daha güzel olabilirdi kötü değil ama o kadar iyide değil meh işte. Birde zombideki şu zehirli zombiler size dokunduğu an zehirleniyorsunuz zehri de gidip belirli bir bölgeden çıkarmanız lazım ama oda hep olmuyor bekleme süresi var çıkaramaz iseniz direkt ölüyorsunuz o biraz tilt edici. Zombiye 10 üzerinden 5 puan veriyorum. Oyun şunki kura göre pahalı indirime girse bile genede uçuk ama alıp almamak size kalmış tabi.

i at the time giving this review their are no ppl online and its lonely on a empty match and that is the only way to get xp. ( what i recomend ) getting the game and playing with family and this was the first call of duty game i ever played and i will never leave it behind.

My favorite game ever. it really feels very nostalgic. I used to play this game on console. now the console is broken. and I have to wait/save money for a pretty good PC

Awesome campaign story. We all know now Kevin Spacey is a sketchy POS, but there is no doubt he is a damn good actor. One of the best villains of the COD universe, up there with Makarov from MW and Raul Menedez from BO2. Interestingly enough, your player character is the voice actor for Joel from The Last Of Us. It's hard to tell because he isn't doing a Texas accent and he doesn't look anything like Joel (he isn't Joel's character model), but it is definitely him. So some great performances across the board from great actors.

This game did have some absolutely bizarre performance issues for me. For some reason at points in the campaign, my GPU and CPU would start pulling super low wattage and that lead to moments with terrible performance. This doesn't happen to me in any other COD game or any game for that matter. Additionally, changing the settings made 0 difference, so it definitely seems to have something to do with this game. It would then randomly improve and run great. If you do run into this, I recommend trying to play through it because it may improve. It's tough though, when it tanked it was barely playable.

Bought to play through the campaign, I completed it on veteran difficultly in 7 hours. I would not recommend buying this game to play just the campaign, though. During this play through I encountered:
-8 crashes to desktop
-2 full mission restarts due to "F to Interact" not appearing on key mission objectives
-Noncooperation with default Nvidia settings, requiring online searching to fix frame stuttering, and even then didn't run good (Nvidia RTX 4080 & i7-13700k)
-Lack of music (?). There appears to be no music in the game at all, hindering the feeling of cut scenes and intense moments severely
-In latter missions, in an attempt to make them more difficult, they introduce extremely "bullet spongy" enemies
-You cant skip cut scenes, even if you've seen them before
-Due to game play mechanics, half of the weapon selection is ruled out as plausible as they either take to long to reload or cant fire accurately fast enough to stay alive. This made me use only 2-3 of the maybe 2 dozen or so weapons in the game for the entire campaign
