This is my All time Favourite Batman game the mobility is fun the villains are great
And i do like collecting all the riddler trophies
Great game Highly recommend
It hurts to play this game, its addicting I want to play but can't I need to play more I want to play more I need more
Absolute masterpiece! The best freeflow combat in gaming history. Incredibly fluid, allowing for seamless transitions between attacks, counters, and gadgets. Every fight feels satisfying and dynamic. Gotham is rich with detail, filled with iconic villains and exciting (but very hard) challenges and side missions. Everything is flawles. Great gameplay, immersive world, and captivationg story. Unforgettable experience. As a video game 9.5/10, but as a Superhero game 100/10! Recommendation!
A great sequel to the first game and probably the best story out of the series
Note: I hate Riddler and ESPECIALLY his challenges (Riddler's Revenge)...I'll never touch them again
I love the game and i really enjoy it playing the game this game has it all, it has strategic, action, stealth, open world and love the characters of the game villains and hero i rate this game 10/10 perfect.
Best story of the three I just hate the Catwoman parts so much it's just annoying moving around the city
Excellent game! bought it on sale on my PC after having played through it multiple times on my old XBOX 360 and Wii U! I would totally recomend this to anyone who is a fan of Superheroes or action games. Just a tip though, when I downloaded the game I had to turn of anything to do with PhysX for it to run properly, but that may not be an issue you face.
This game is AMAZING in every way, the story is easily the best we have ever gotten for the arkham series. Everything had so much build up and was good in every way. You could play this game for hours and not get bored, Although some parts aren't AS GOOD as others (Like the deadshot boss fight, the bane side mission, etc.) It is still a wonderful game and worth your money. Since (As of right now) the arkham games and other WB games have -80% deals, this game is a steal. The suits are also very accurate to what they were going for. But the catwoman missions are the most boring part of the game, and it really turns you off sometimes. but besides from that, this game in my eyes is a:
8/10
because of the shit show that is modern gaming -crazy gpu prices, unoptimized ports, and live service games filled with micro-transactions. this is the best time to clear your backlog of old games.
play it and enjoy being batman
This is a step up from Arkham Asylum in almost every aspect.
Arkham City is so much fun to explore and traverse. The combat system has been refined and is now better than ever; it feels way more fluid.
The story wasn't so good, though. Too many villains with no clear focus, too much stuff going on that ends up being filler. The scope of Arkham Asylum's story was less broad, and it worked better overall.
The DLC is quite good, but it's clear it was cut content from the base game to be sold separately (scummy).
I'm not a big fan of collectibles, and there seems to be WAY more than before, but since the game is so much fun, I really don't mind this, and they're optional, so.
Anyway, good game.
Objectively the best game in the series, although I prefer Arkham Asylum overall I cant deny the sequel did improve pretty much everything they needed to for a worthy sequel. The combats been expanded with more quickfire moves, more gadgets, smoother gameplay making for higher combo potential, gliding is way more fun around the city, more sides-mission available, bigger cast of batman villains throughout the game, playable characters besides batman (robin, nightwing and catwoman)
Storys great in this one picking up from asylum and introducing a bigger cast of batman characters increasing the stakes, combat and predator challenge rooms make a return with ALOT more rooms and maps to complete so if you're keen for the 100% of this game you'll get alot out of this game content wise after the base game, also a story DLC is included and that's about one hour long in length, its worth your time as it gives some closure for the end of the main campaign deffo worth playing.
Awesome superhero game that is pretty much essential when seeking out to play one, this game deserves the recognition it gets.
Getting all the achievements in this game is harder than I expected
It's a really fun game, and also works on solely computer graphics and just 4GB RAM (would recommend buying more RAM for a better experience, which I did) Would recommend, though, 10/10.

Its been year since this game first release and its still one of my favorites games of all time. If your a big batman fan or even a fan of Heroes, than i recommend you to play Batman Arkham series!
Really fun game, but fuck the riddler revenge pack
Almost 13 years later, I finally played this game—and my only regret is not playing it sooner! Batman: Arkham City GOTY was an incredible experience, a true gem among superhero open-world action games. I had high expectations going in, and to my surprise, the game not only met but exceeded them (aside from a few small annoyances).
Story & Characters – A Masterclass in Superhero Narrative
The story is phenomenal, with Batman trying to save Arkham City from major threats like Hugo Strange and, most notably, Joker, who easily takes the crown as the best antagonist in the entire Arkham series. Mark Hamill delivers an outstanding performance as the Clown Prince of Crime, making every second of his voice acting an absolute treat. Joker constantly keeps the player on edge with his unpredictable nature, and his dynamic with Harley Quinn makes for an even greater threat to Gotham.
A quick side note: Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC is a must-play. It perfectly captures Harley’s character as seen in Arkham Asylum, something that was unfortunately lost in Arkham Knight, Origins, and the disastrous Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, where she was reduced to being loud, annoying, and dumb just for the sake of being dumb.
Heroes & Their Roles
Batman is portrayed exceptionally well. Several moments force him to make tough choices—saving multiple lives at the cost of one, particularly in situations involving Talia and Joker. I do wish Alfred had a bigger role, but I still appreciated his presence, guiding Bruce and helping him navigate the moral dilemmas and stopping Protocol 10.
Kevin Conroy delivers an outstanding performance, with some truly great lines, and his brilliance especially shines during Batman’s face-off with Penguin and Joker. In my opinion, he is the only true Batman, and his iconic voice will be deeply missed. Rest easy, legend.
Robin’s cameo felt underwhelming, and I really wish he had been a playable character instead of Catwoman, who, while a great character, took up more spotlight than necessary. That said, I didn’t mind her missions being interwoven with Batman’s story since they created suspenseful cliffhangers, making me even more eager to see what happened next. My only complaint is that her final mission takes place after the game’s ending credits, at a point where I no longer cared as much about her story an plot that was mostly finished. It felt forced and sluggish to complete. Also, her climbing mechanics are frustrating and extremely unsatisfying.
Gameplay & Atmosphere
The combat system is greatly improved, adding much more depth to fights. Enemies now have new weapons, shields, and minibosses wielding hammers and other heavy weapons. Titans also make a return, and they are incredibly satisfying to defeat. These additions make battles feel more dynamic and force players to think more strategically rather than just button-mashing through encounters.
The ending is pure cinema. The soundtrack throughout the entire game is phenomenal, but it really hits hard at the conclusion. Without spoiling anything, I was left in an abyss of thought, wondering: What’s next for Batman? I wanted to see more, to understand what was going through Bruce’s mind at that moment. The depth and foreshadowing in this game are incredible.
The only thing that felt slightly lacking compared to Arkham Asylum was the atmosphere. While Arkham City is a fantastic open world, it didn’t quite capture the same eerie, claustrophobic tension that made the first game so special (not like it had to).
Minor Issues & Logical Gaps
One of the strangest moments was the Mr. Freeze boss fight. While it was mechanically creative, it felt somewhat forced, as if the game just needed to include a boss battle. Story-wise, it didn’t make much sense—Batman would have helped Freeze’s wife regardless, given everything that had happened before (rescuing Freeze’s suit, saving him from Penguin, etc.).
Another oddity was the Hush side mission (Identity Thief). Somehow, Hush manages to escape Arkham City by trapping Batman in an apartment for, like, a minute. I refuse to believe that the same Batman who stops an entire city’s crime in one night just casually lets Hush walk free after a 60-second inconvenience. He even says, “I’ll hunt him down tomorrow,” yet it takes him nine months (canonically) to catch him in another game. 😂
Final Thoughts – Should You Play It?
Despite these minor flaws, I absolutely loved playing Arkham City, and it’s a game I will always appreciate and recommend—to you, the reader, and to anyone who enjoys superhero games and action-packed combat.
For me, Arkham Asylum is still my favorite due to its unforgettable atmosphere and the fact that it was my first Batman game. However, don’t let that stop you from playing this one—Arkham City is a massive, innovative upgrade over the first game and remains one of the best superhero stories ever told in gaming.
Buy it on sale if you can, but even at full price, it’s worth every penny for the sheer amount of content you get.
Easily the best game in the Arkham series. The combat system has a low skill floor, it's easy to do well enough to get through the story campaign. But it also has a very high skill ceiling, as you'll need to master the combat if you want to complete New Game+ and Riddler's Revenge.
Going for 100% in this game is absolute pain and it is not worth it. Somehow it only took me 100 hours, but it felt like 100 years
After quite a good experience of Batman Arkham Asylum, this masterpiece is way better than the previous game. Rocksteady had added so many improvements such as much more fluent combat, new gadgets, a minimal city that we freely glide, and new side missions that include villains like Bane, Deadshot, and Zsasz etc. However, when I see Joker as a main villain, I’ve really felt like I’m going to puke. Because we already experienced Joker in Arkham Asylum and I’m bored as hell. Eventually, as flawed as it is, Batman Arkham City is the best Arkham game and everyone should experience this work of art.
Good story and great gameplay
fun game to play when you just want to chill and roam around the world
This has so far proven to be better than Arkham Asylum. Many more enemies, more engaging storyline, more weapons, more tools at my arsenal, more flying techniques. Very impressive so far .
Best story from a game I've played. I don't play many story games. Still amazing and I love the combat and all the things
Despite some technical problems, the Arkham Games hold up exceptionally well.
City is where the series expanded incredibly quickly, and while the damn Riddler trophies continue to haunt my dream, I do also think of the game in fonder ways too.
One of the best of Arkham games to date. The gameplay and story is so good! The voice acting is amazing, Kevin and Mark kill it as Batman and the Joker! I honest cannot praise this game enough. It's that good
Batman Arkham City explores a profound duality between Batman and the Joker, as well as how that extends to the universe as a whole. I love how personal the conflict of the game feels as Batman, you literally peer into his psyche on multiple occasions. The beautiful soundtrack accompanies the dark, cosmic feel of this game perfectly and the voice acting is superb, every character down to the lowly thugs are captured with the upmost accuracy. There is so much detail hidden within as well, even something as simple as each thug wearing a different outfit according to the villain they are associated with. Of course, the most important part, the gameplay loop is very much addicting and was perfected in this game as Asylum's successor. There are many more options for combat approach with all of Batman's gadgets. I highly recommend this game for literally anyone this is my childhood.
Batman is my favorite hero, and this game is the best of all!
All the main vilains of Arkham are here, and the game offers many hours of fun for people of all the ages, children or adults, that like DC movies. Recommended!
Great story, amazing gameplay.
Amazig story, great gameplay, lots of activities and side missions. Still holds and feels great. The 'father' of all the comics gameplay hyped games right now.
Thought I'd hate this one after how amazing Asylum was, but holy cow this just makes everything bigger and better in all the best ways! Combat and parkour feels way smoother now, and there are way more villains to interact with.
It's so fun to see so many classic Batman stories being more fleshed out. Even stupid Zsazszszsz.
It's an upgrade from previous game with same chaos style of the gotham city. It's a good action game, good luck with all the ridler revenge challange
Did you know Batman AC is already remastered? By fans. Again.
Rating: 9/10
This is a direct sequel to Arkham Asylum so I highly recommend you to play in sequence. This game underwent significant improvement over the previous title. As the name suggest, the game is set in Arkham City and features a full open world, with few side missions.
Occasionally I faced issues where multiple people would start talking and you would be unable to hear any of them. It's unlikely they will fix this. Other than that, its fantastic game and kind of unbelievable they achieved this level of graphics in 2012 in a open world environment. Only make sure to use LSFG program to achieve higher FPS.
You get to play as 2 characters - Batman and Catwomen. Even as Robin in its DLC, don't forget to play that expansion.
Just Remaster the game using single click installer. Enjoy!

Great successor to asylum
There’s something special about revisiting a game that defined a part of your childhood. I still remember playing Arkham City on my old potato laptop as a kid, struggling with lag but absolutely hooked on every moment. Coming back to it now, with a better PC, I can confidently say it still holds up.
This game is the perfect blend of gripping storytelling, fluid combat, and an open world that actually feels alive (or as alive as Gotham’s criminals allow). The atmosphere, the iconic voice acting, and how it makes you feel like Batman? Unmatched.
For those who haven’t played it yet, Arkham City isn’t just a great Batman game—it’s one of the best superhero games ever made.
This game took everything great about the previous game and improved on it, with a better world to explore, more memorable interactions with the classic batman villains and a lot of fun. In this case bigger really equals better.
The game that solidified the Arkham Games into LEGEND!

If you loved or even liked Arkham Asylum and you haven't played this one...WHAT THE HECK?! It's one of the games where even the DLC was mostly worth it for the extra characters to play as and the modes. I've played through and beaten it back when it came out and even now over and over again on PC.
PC GOTY version remains the best version of the game because of how it runs and the fact that it has everything included! Even better than "Return to Arkham" on consoles IMO
Buy it
Good game. Improved gameplay compared to Asylum. Story was great. I loved all the tools we had at our disposal, while being able to quickly throw them in between punches. Had a lot of fun with the combat of the game. What else can you expect from an Arkham game ?
I don’t want to glaze completely different games too much when the subject in question is Arkham City - but I can’t help but feel that finishing this game has only made me appreciate both Asylum and Knight a great deal more. One of the main concerns for me here is that the direction feels suffocated by the fact that the Riddler shit is almost two times (2x!) more abundant than in those entries, with a whopping 400 Riddler challenges. It’s so hard to ignore, you can’t turn the camera without being greeted by a wall littered in question mark neon and graffiti. Gliding way above the skyline to see every building has at least two Riddler puzzles writhing across their surface - uncovering ancient depths of Gotham and finding a lode of Riddlertanium. It really didn’t take long before the pageantry of being Batman in a decently well-realised environment fell out from under me because the game is so abundantly more focused on shallow repetitive dopamine than more meaningful world design. None of their challenges are particularly demanding, the worst you could expect is for them to be gated by story-related equipment requirements - they’re the kind of “puzzles” where there’s a far greater buffer of execution than in mentally solving it. The riddles themselves barely need you to be observant or imaginative, you just scan every billboard you glide by and you’re swimming in EXP. Sorry to harp on the point, but it really is just so omnipresent I was just begging the trophies to fuck off before they deflated the sense of purpose of the next location. Just not a lot of interesting side stuff here at all really.
I was truly hoping for more here, considering this was the Arkham entry I’ve heard over a decade of glowing praise for. It’s good, but it exists in a bit of an empty middleground between the two titles I much prefer. It’s crazy how none of the characters in this are even remotely cool?? The gormless shot reverse shot dialogue undoing any presence Bain should have - what did they do to Deadshot, man…. Very inconsequential-feeling story overall. Internal areas feel devoid of identity, rarely ever evolving over time to match story-related revisits beyond “enemy has a new weapon type”.
Very very baffled, wish I knew what to see in this. It’s decent enough as a step towards Knight, but it mostly just felt like it was trying to hypnotise me to compulsively complete it. If I had to be totally fair, this would have hit if I played this in 2011, but these days I think games are just taking the fucking piss if they go above 5 hours long.
Everyone's heard it a thousand times but it truly is the best Arkham game if not the best superhero game ever.
The story is phenomenal, most of the boss fights are creative and fun, the combat is simple and polished, it's overall so well done. And other then the diabolical Riddler's revenge and his 400+ trophies, the achievement grind isn't too bad and enjoyable 11/10
It may be an old game, but it's still worth playing, especially if you have a weak and average system like me. And for this price, the game really has a great atmosphere, a very large map, and a good and long story.
Im so glad Rocksteady added a Batman x Joker sex scene after which Batman gets AIDS from Joker.
Great game with great graphics and story. 10/10, would Jonkle again!
One of the greatest sequels ever, in the history of forever.
It improves on Asylum’s already very good stealth/combat/exploration gameplay, all within a well designed open world map. I loved the Asylum as the setting for the last game, but upon replay’s, you really do realize just how linear it is. A game with mechanics like this is just better suited to an open world, ‘cos you can effortlessly go from encounter to encounter. One minute, you can go from stealthily dispatching snipers on roofs to diving into some thugs on the ground to give them a chiropractic readjustment. Gliding in general is a lot more useful in an open space, and there’s plenty of secrets and challenges that require you to really push your skills of general gadget traversal.Enemies are also awesome, ‘cos they now have plenty of variance and show up in different groups throughout the game. The boss encounters are pretty great too, all being super well directed and just tough enough (my favourites are probably the duel with Ras al-ghul and the Mr. Freeze fight ). Overall, the difficulty of the game is great, though I would recommend hard mode if you are fine with a challenge. Normal is a bit too easy in this game, and a lot of these encounters are best experienced when you are truly pushed to utilize all your combat moves. Heck, hard mode in this game is a lot more forgiving compared to Asylum’s hard mode (it removed the attack indicators).
Pretty much everything about the story and gameplay is improved in Arkham City. I mean, except maybe atmosphere, ‘cos it could be argued Asylum had the greater ambiance in most given areas. But this game replacing the linear Asylum grounds for an open area was a great decision overall, even if it reduced the presence of the areas overall.
The game only takes, like, 20 hours to beat everything, but it’s a worthwhile experience. Since there’s no stupid timewasters or anything, you spend the whole campaign just going from new encounter to new area right till the end. That’s a lot more than you can say about some open world games nowadays.
This is a near perfect Batman game. So good that I only have one complaint, which unfortunately does affect my experience through the game. So let us get into all of it.
The story. It is phenomenal. The pacing is perfect and the main storyline takes around 5-ish hours to complete. Add all the side missions (except Riddler's challenges), and you add a couple more hours to the story. So 7-8 hours of proper story, which is perfect for a single-night playthrough and actually complements the story, which takes place within the night. The characters are obviously awesome, because Batman. We have a lot of major antagonist characters - Joker, Hugo Strange, Ra's, Penguin and Freeze to some extent and somehow, none of them feel rushed. All of them have perfect screentime and perfect presence. We also have minor appearances and they are pretty nice. Couple of them are sequel bait and I can't complain. The bat-family is all there - Bruce, Alfred, Barbara and a very small appearance of Tim Drake. And all of them are well characterized - with very heartwarming banter from time to time. The story line is basically a glorified fetch quest - but if Paul Dini wrote it (heh). It is awesome.
Combat is polished. It is a straight up improvement of Asylum and it is fantastic. If I hadn't played Arkham Knight before, I'd actually say that it was perfect. I will still say it is perfect, since taking the future into account is unfair and honestly, stupid. Batman feels much more fluid and has more animations to make him really flow. Catwoman is also fantastic. She has her own set of moves and feels very agile and haughty - a lot of character for sure. Stealth is kind of the same as Asylum, with the enemies being a little bit more aware than Asylum, but not by much. It is basically the same as Asylum, but better. The button mapping is much better for the keyboard. Love it. Boss fights are also much MUCH better than Asylum, although I'd say Origins really outdid itself in this area. I won't namedrop all of the bosses, but I want to separately mention just one - Mr. Freeze. That fight was peak, If Origins Deathstroke was the peak melee boss, City Freeze is the peak stealth boss of the franchise. Glorious.
Exploration. Arkham City is beautiful and feels dead. Now a City feeling 'dead' is not generally a good thing, but considering the setting for the game, the 'dead' of the city feels extremely atmospheric. There were a lot of screenshot-worthy scenes during raw exploration itself which is a bonus plus. The in-game lore is well crafted and gives a lot of context to the actions of the characters. And I would add that this game has one of the best delineation of story and lore in games that have a smooth narrative transition from lore to story, if you get my drift. It is easy to differentiate lore and story in games like, say Bioshock, where there is a clear point of differentiation - before 1959 riots (lore) and after 1960 (story) have completely different settings. Here, that does apply for Batman, but not for other characters and Gotham as a whole, so major props for that. Now to the one complaint. Riddler trophies (absolutely no one is surprised) are not fun. Asylum had the most organic exploration flow among the 4 games, but in City's case, the backtracking is crazy - aggravated by the distinct trophies for Batman and Catwoman. Although it is not as bad as Origins, it is still has the same problem basis. And it, like in Origins, does take away the cannon one-night vigilantism feel of the story.
Challenges - are challenging, especially a couple of the Catwoman ones. I spent the majority of my time in the game playing these challenges and I did enjoy them a lot. But that part feels very subjective, because there are a LOT of challenges - separated into 4 playable characters.
_____________________________________________________
The main DLC - Harley Quinn's Revenge is pretty nice and lets us play as Tim Drake in the campaign. It does have a very sad undertone in Harley's perspective but doesn't overstay its welcome. It is short and does its job. The Harley Balloons shit, like all the destructible collectibles within Riddler's challenges, are shit. Tim Drake, as a playable character, is the basis of Deathstroke in Origins - but Deathstroke does feel much better and is an upgrade of Robin. However Robin does feel nice to play.
Nightwing is also a playable character for the challenges. But he does feel a lot more slower than the other three characters, especially if you play Nightwing right after Catwoman. He also has a funny double hit mechanic (?) which can throw you off. But once you master him, he feels really fluid and satisfying to play.
The other DLC challenge maps are fine. The Joker playground can be challenging, but the rest aren't much different. The Asylum ones were much more inventive for sure.

Overall, a 9.5/10 - absolute banger and holds up really well even now.
Fun game, great combat, nice open world, good port.
This game is amazing
Great story although I think Asylum has a better story, but that is mainly just me
The combat feels great and smooth, but if you are in it for combat, I recommend Arkham Knight
boss fights. They are so fun, especially Mr Freeze. I don't want to spoil too much if you are getting this game, enjoy. :)
If you are a achievement hunter all i'm saying is get ready to bash your head in to a wall and have fun :)
I love this game even though it came out like 15 years ago. Still an amazing play and I keep coming back to play it. Definitely recommend purchasing if you are a Batman fan.
Batman: Arkham City—Game of the Year Edition is the best of all the Arkhamverse games. It has all the classic villains and a few who I would love to see on the big screen, like Hugo Strange. For me, the only negative for the game is those damn Riddler trophies!!!
7.8/10
Well i'm late to the party, and I'm also not the biggest Batman fan out there, but these games are definitely pretty cool and have a good story. I bought all 4 of them a couple years ago and beat asylum last year, so now I decided to play Arkham City GOTY. I'm not doing all the fatiguing riddles etc, but I'm just playing to experience the main story. Overall I am enjoying it.
It is almost 15 years old at this point, but the original graphics have held up decently. I installed an HD mod pack, but really didn't notice a huge improvement (I am sure there was some). Also because it is a little old school, it doesn't hold your hand as far as quest markers on the map, so I am finding it a bit of a strain to find my objective sometimes, but I guess that is part of the charm!!
fun game, main story good, dlc was quick romp
Best Arkham game imo. You can say the story is written with love and has a fulfilling end. Graphics didnt bother me at all even after 13 years.
