Botanicula is a neat point and click basically wordless adventure game with a unique style. You control a host of characters with different abilities as you navigate a world of weird plant insect hybrids that has been infested by something dark and foreboding. The game is serviceable, but it's rather heavily focused on showing off the extremes of the world rather than delivering a grounded path that makes sense from point to point.
I definitely preferred my time with Machinarium, so I suggest that as a better starting point for the generally cool Amanita Design selection of games. That said, if you like the art and the atmosphere of Botanicula, feel free to dive in.
Not bad
Replaying after 9 years. While the unique art style is little childish looking, it has good story and clever puzzles.
The soundtrack is very fun, and the little guys are fun/disturbing/cute. I love the ambiance and challenging puzzles!
Enjoyed this very much, the story and the cute random characters were great and funny, it had great music and sounds too :3
Such a cute and lovely puzzle game. Recommended for a few chill hours.
Special thank's to developers and all people who bought Amanita Design games to support Ukraine.
russian angry kids lowered steam rating
A short and silly story about some little guys. It has great sound design, the puzzles aren't frustrating, and the art style is cute -- it reminds me of Fran Bow in some ways, just more sweet and simple. It goes on sale often and the game itself isn't that long, so I'd wait for a discount.
Little game I enjoyed paying while eating breakfast, buy if its discounted and you like puzzles
.
You guys support Ukraine
I support you guys
Botanicula is a magical story about friendship, hope, and the fight against darkness in a breathtaking world of living nature.
In the dense woods lies a danger, darkness leeching life from its denizens. Five friends, no bigger than bugs, go on a dangerous quest to rescue the last seed of the Tree of Life. They will meet friendly and hostile creatures, solve puzzles and reveal the magical secrets of this world.
Huge thanks to Amanita Design for standing with Ukraine!
You have repeatedly organized charitable initiatives to help our country in these difficult times.
For those who are unaware, here’s what Amanita Design posted on their social media and Steam:
Amanita Design wrote:
"From March 26 to April 2, we are donating 100% of the proceeds from all our games and DLC to People in Need to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine, where Russian forces continue their invasion, committing war crimes and atrocities against civilians. Your contribution will help provide food, warmth, home repairs, and essential care to families and individuals suffering under ongoing Russian aggression."
As a Ukrainian, I am sincerely grateful for this initiative. I have purchased all of your games along with the DLC and encourage everyone who values quality indie projects and humanity to do the same.
Ignore the review-bombing from Russians who complain about "politics in games" or even post hateful comments and threats simply because of your support for Ukraine. Your actions are a true testament to humanity and solidarity, and many players deeply appreciate them.

I remember this game to be way too better than it actually is. Sadly it is quite meh.
What an amazing game!
Bloody hypocrites!
Absolutely love this weird little game
Interesting art and game play. The music and sounds were delightful. I played for a while with my friend and we were having a blast trying to find all the characters and laughing at the little jokes and funny moments that were added into the game. It's not too difficult, while still being engaging and enjoyable. The story is cute and I was invested in the little band of friends.
It's easy to tell there was a lot of hard work put into the creation of this game, and it definitely paid off. It was a delight.
Lovely and amazing artwork. Challenging.
Absolutely delightful!
Beautiful and unique art style, coupled with fun but sometimes challenging puzzles.
Without dialogue the game manages to tell a story about its curious creature protagonist and the fantastical world it lives in.
I was too sober for this.
The last Amanita game I ever bought.
Very unique art style, I personally loved the soundtrack and clicking everything to try and find all achievements. Had me oocupied longer then I expected but in a good way.
"Botanicula takes roughly 120min-2hrs to complete a first time playthough, but I decided to explore and click on everything in a third, 100% achievement run. The animation, art direction and sound design is truly unique and recommend looking into other Amanita Design titles."
aesthetically pleasing
The game is entertaining, with nice graphics, interesting sound effects, and music.
Overall, it's not too difficult. However, I didn’t like that, at times, it feels like you’re just clicking randomly on everything to see what happens - there’s little logic or challenge.
It’s still a nice game, but Machinarium remains my favorite Amanita Design title because it has better puzzles, offers more of a challenge, and just suits my taste better. I'd rate this one 7.5/10.
Feels like a picture book I would have loved as a child. Extremely playful and unique in style, in both visuals and sound. Be prepared to try clicking on everything on the screen and just futzing around with stuff. I'd definitely recommend this game for children, although some bits could be a little scary and they might need help with a few puzzles.
Such a delightful little game! Very silly and sometimes creepy. It was honestly a longer game than I thought it would be, and I'll definitely be replaying to try and collect all the creatures. The one puzzle I never figured out was assembling the chicken, frog, and snail with their parts, but I got it eventually by randomly clicking for ages... woohoo!

Relaxing little point-and-click puzzle game with the classic Amanita studio look. Loved it!
Short, sweet, and endlessly charming.
Cute little story, big love to Amanita Design.
One of the most beautiful games out there, I play it about once a year, just an all-round masterpiece!
A gem of a short adventure - the sort that brings joy every few minutes as you play in the world that it's creators have made. Every little space has characters and story to it, making this place feel like it has mysteries and secrets and personality to share. All that to say that, yes - of course it does! But it also isn't overly long; just long enough to ensure that it doesn't overstay it's welcome. In fact, short enough to make you wish that it were even a little bit longer.
I guess I like some point and click adventure games now. Didn't have that on my bingo card for this year.
Super cool! It has so many things you can do and great music.
this game physically pains me
A very lovely game, made me laugh multiple times, loved it. You should definitely check this one out if you like point and click adventure/puzzle games. 9/10
this game is a nice collecting game filled with multiple small Creatures, Flora and Fungi, easy to beat and 100 percent plus, good for those who seeks to pass the time without too much stress
This game will grow on you
very interesting, funny and creative adventure puzzle game. i am having a happy time to play it
The game’s just a game, you know? You can wrap it up in like 1.5 to 3 hours if you’re not wandering outside touching grass and going for all the achievements. The story, if you can even call it that, is pretty basic. And honestly, it's kinda funny writing a review in 2025 for a game that dropped in 2012, right?
Wow! if I ever imagined a minimalist and charming tiny fellas going around in the branches of a tree and finding adventure, well it that is my impression, love it!!
Imaginative, funny, kind and beautiful
At first it looks like some random surreal indie game, but it have an amazing organic world within.
Botanicula is a respect for Nature itself and beautiful in its own way, because it mixed different art styles fluently.
It is not even as hard as people can except at first glance, so I recommend for everyone to try out!
good game but too many things things to click
Ok
awesome game with really nice atmosphere
A delightful adventure that calms more than it frustrates. Feels like being in a dream that keeps teetering towards a nightmare, yet never quite falls. I highly recommend trying it out!
