Mr. Robot is a 3D action-puzzle-adventure-rpg. Inspired by classic filmation games such as Knight Lore and Alien8 and mixed with 'Ghost Hack' — an abstract RPG in which the player hacks into computer terminals and battles defensive computer programs.

I've tried several times to get into this game, but I just can't get past several things. First, the default controls are bad, and worse, you can't remap them. If it were just that, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but the character movement is very floaty and imprecise, and the game requires precise isometric platforming, which is difficult enough even with good controls. What little I've experienced of the turn-based RPG combat is very vanilla, and the enemies have high block and dodge rates, which makes fighting them an exercise in patience.
A unique little game. Has some flaws but is cool nonetheless. Wish it had a better title.
mr. robot is definitely one of the least-known gems around. it's an isometric puzzle/platform/rpg. you move your robot around with slightly floaty controls (one of the methods works better than the other) and jump around collecting stuff, pushing crates to make way or avoid hazards, etc. and ultimately try to save your robot friends, who slowly join you and make fights easier, especially if you equip them properly with upgrades and programs.
the rooms on the spaceship (oh yeah, you're on a spaceship, humans are in cryo-sleep and the ai's gone mad, of course) are puzzly and platformy, sometimes timing is required to avoid things or make a jump, and when you hack terminals, you'll get the chance to grab loot and weaken the ai via turn-based combat.
progress can be saved at save points but it's not too much of a bother to get back to the nearest one occasionally and there's a demo if you're uncertain. it's not a pure puzzler, but that's what I love about it (and I'm sure that's what's gonna turn some people off). if it didn't have the hacking/combat, I would've passed on it probably, as I'm not that good at platforming, but the whole package was a lot of fun to play through (ignore my playtime, I played it in offline mode). kinda like a match-3 game with meta-progression, more appealing than just matching and getting a higher score.
the level editor isn't included in the Steam version and I don't think you can play user-made levels found on the official forum either, but the game itself is definitely worth your attention.

This game is quite amazing. Feels like the old 2d dos games i used to play but with decent 3d sprites. If you like the first zelda game and final fantasy but wondered what would happen if you combined the two: that's this. Turn based battles and mini games. maze running navigation and puzzles.
Game has good feels.
Sidenote: watch the movie "black hole" and other space/robot movies from the 70s and 80s you'll find some amazing references.
Wasn't expecting much when I got this as part of a Steam sale, but was pleasantly surprised. A cute little action RPG with some puzzle elements; reminded me a bit of Super Mario RPG. Has surprisingly good graphics and writing for an indie title from 2007.
8/10 Would go on robotic misadventures again.
A fun, isometric RPG that reminds me a lot of old Sega Genesis games. The battles are turn based, with puzzels to solve and secret items to find along the way. Very cool game. I got it on sale at some point, but to me the game is worth the $9.99 asking price.
I enjoyed this game. The graphics were good, very old school and enjoyable. I liked the story, the sound and the puzzles. Overall, I would totally buy this game again.
I wasn't expecting an RPG when I downloaded this, since most of the screenshots are from the platforming sections. But I still got mostly what I expected.
The turn based fighting sections honestly did start to wear on me after a while. And I usually like simple RPGs, but these fights were so easy that it just became monotonous. I beat the final boss in three turns for crying out loud. Maybe it would have been better if I played on hard, I don't know. This isn't too much of a problem though since you can just opt to avoid fights if you want.
The story and the puzzle sections made the game for me. It's got a really neat sort of singularity type of story that I've never seen in a game before. And I like how you learn more about the characters as the game progresses.
The platforming sections I liked the most, I just wish there were more of them.
Overall I enjoyed the game. But if you're expecting a straight puzzle platformer, or a more in-depth RPG then maybe think twice before getting it.
It's a cute little turn based RPG with a charming story involving robots that have just enough AI as to exude personality in the way WALL-E's robot characters did. The fighting moves have just enough variation, and anyone that's played a JRPG in the last 20 years will have no trouble identifying the "physical," "magical" and "AoE" moves. There are some places where you can choose to grind up character stats by revisiting enemies in cyberspace if needed, but you also seem to be able to pursue the story without being gated. The "maze" of the ship and platforming are interesting without being overwhelming. The combat has a bit of a Shadowrun inspired feel to it which will make you grin with nostalgia.
For a cheap little indie RPG it's fun. It's not going to blow your mind, but for a casual time waster it does the job splendidly, hearkening back to simpler times. Sometimes you just need a break from modern real time RPGs that require 100% of your focus and engagement, and this game understands that.

While I appreciated and enjoyed the 3D isometric platforming aspect of the game (which was admittedly the majority of the game), it's dragged down horribly by an utterly one-dimensional, boring, repetitive RPG-type combat system, as well as an uninspired storyline chock full of sci-fi clichés. While I was able to look past its flaws enough to finish a playthrough of the game, in hindsight, as a whole, it's not a game I would recommend.
Mr. Robot is pretty awesome. It's a strange combo of oldschool isometric platform game à la 8-bit games like Head Over Heels, and JRPG style fights.
A nice little indie production that creates an alloy of traditional JRPG and puzzle solving in the spirit of games such as Solstice for the NES.
The exploration and puzzle solving all takes place inside the massive space ship. As a maintenance droid the player possesses no weapons to defend himself and has to overcome adversity by problem solving and navigation skills. Some of the jumping puzzles can be agrevating but nothing that feels unfair.
The combat system comes into play whenever a security door or an opponent needs to be hacked. The electronic avatar of the player character Asimov possesses the capability to attack the security measures of the system he hacks. Over the course of his adventures he rescues a vide range of avatars that has lost their robotic bodies. They complement Asimovs Jack-of-all-Trades skills with their specialities.
There is not much innovation about the combat compared to some of the more popular Japanese RPGs out there but it does it job well and achieves enough strategic depth for the entertainment value in a product of this size.
The way the game is set up it is possible to solve many puzzles forcefully by hacking most of the opposition making the actual puzzle solving alot easier. A welcome function for players that dont favour jumping skills or the puzzles them selves.
Playtime is between 5 to 15 hours depending on how thorough the ship is searched.
a nice 2D iso rpg with turn-based FF-like combat. has its quirks and is sometimes awkward (movement, ui navigation) but overall a pleasant experience and interesting visualisation of the "cyberspace". a little on the cheesy side at times.
The game that sucked me into subscribing to Gametap. The game that got me to come back to Gametap after they screwed me. Mr. Robot is more than a RPG. By the end of the game you really get close to the main character. The story line is brilliant and the environments are eye candy.
Despite difficulty controlling Mr. Robot's isometric platforming segments, I enjoyed exploring and solving puzzles. While stat-increasing items were occasionally found, grinding in RPG battles thankfully didn't seem to be a requirement due to the amount of healing items. (I have not played in hard mode.)
Unfortunately, Moonpod couldn't get their sharing server to work with Steam so they stripped it from this version. That means there are no custom levels. What's here has some Outer Limits charm, but don't expect it to be particularly epic. You might wish to buy from Moonpod directly as there are no multiplayer functions which require your Steam friends.
Within Steam, the config menu can be found by opening Mr. Robot's Properties in your Library, putting -c in the launch options and running the game. It's all for video. Button adjustments are not included and certain functions appear to be keyboard-only. Gamepads owners may wish to use a third party button mapping program.
If your a fan of Golden Sun, this game is right up your allie with its puzzle solving and platforming prowness.
At its current price its a pritty good catch.
The RPG elements arent the big draw but they do come up and can be rather interesting if slightly tedius.
The only real problem is the controls but all in all the story is actually pritty good and the levels are well designed.
Mr. Robot is long, the combat is tedious, the controls are finicky and yet, I keep coming back to it. It's just the right mix of story, puzzle, and combat to be engaging.
It's a fun little platformer puzzle game. The graphics remind me a bit of Startopia (man, I wish that game was released on Steam) and it has a certain charm. The game uses an isometric camera angle as well, so it's similar to the latest Megaman games I guess (the Battle Network games). Same goes for the battle system, which is actually pretty fun. Might be worth it if you have some extra money to spend.

Mr. Robot is a great game based on a ship travelling through the stars to a distant destination. The people on board have been placed in stasis and robots were left to care for them and the ship itself. This game features an isometric view, and a variety of interesting puzzles. My favorite feature is the 'hacks' which allow you to log into the circuit grid of an enemy robot or terminal, and combat viruses and rogue code within the system using a variety of abilities, your own hacks and code, and strategy to try and overcome the battles. It's a great game with multiple facets of play, puzzles, battles, and growing characters that level up and develop skills. I strongly recommend this game to everyone.
