Red Faction: Guerilla excels with its satisfying destruction mechanics, though repetitive missions and a thin story slightly dull the experience.

Im shocked at how good this game is!
Amazing. Loved it on PS3 and still love it here. There is no game out there that matches the destruction in this game to this day, both in quality and in scale. Beyond the destruction is actually a pretty fun game as well lol. A lot of fun and varied weapons to cause mayhem with too. I would love to see something like this again but as a current gen title. Unfortunately the industry seems to be way more focused on pretty graphics rather than interesting and cool interactivity which is unfortunate. Just a really fun game!

Red Faction Guerilla is the single greatest Red Faction game to date, and that is an objective fact. It's a cult classic for a reason, with an innovative and underutilized, in fact amazing structural support system that either shows you really well why 9/11 was an inside job, or makes you want to punch it's maker in the testicles as a building you need to destroy under a minute refuses to go down because of one lone little iron bar that won't break until you forcibly despawn it with the entire destructive force of Mars, which isn't readily available.
The story is straightforward, and about equal with that of the earlier series, but what the game may lack for some in story, it has in charm. The theme of this game is an unparalleled display of the Red Planet, and the as long as you save up your scrap and don't buy everything, when you really need an upgrade, like armor or a jetpack, most of the potential copium is avoided. The combat AI is great, and on the hardest difficulty at least, they will swarm and flank you with no hesitation, with air and armor support until you truly feel pinned like a cat in a corner, running out of ammo as you dash through collapsing buildings or hold up on a dusty hill. The music is phenomenal, and those prerendered cutscenes will leave you wanting a Red Faction movie! Oh, wait... okay ignore the movie, but at the very least it made RFG's sequel, Armageddon, much less hated because it's underrated despite not being another GTA on Mars.

Best freaking destruction mechanics until Teardown. Surface level driving physics, which suits the game well, as there is no need to complicate this one. There has yet to be another franchise that emphasizes destruction mechanics so effectively (Wait until Teardown 2 for the new champion.) It's a vehicle based, open world sandbox with insane destructive mechanics ON MARS. You can't go wrong. It's just plain fun.
Fairly standard Saints Row / Grand Theft Auto type game. What sets this game apart is the destruction physics. Very short. I completed the campaign and did like 2/3 of the side quests and it only took 10 hours. Worth it when it's on sale. Not worth it at full price.
I still have not found a game who's destruction physics can scratch the itch like this game can! It's just the right amount of difficult, the gameplay is modern enough not to feel rough, but not so overdone that it's smooth and easy like in most modern games. Super enjoyable!
One of my favorites, such a great game. Some of the best physics based destruction ever made and it still holds up today. The story is admittedly a bit bland, but the game is good fun. Rolling up on an EDF base in a giant construction vehicle and plowing through everything will never get old. And the soundtrack is good too.
While the game may not do everything right, it’s your best bet for free-form demolition and unpretentious entertainment. Guerrilla isn't a terribly deep game, but as a "summer blockbuster," it works just right, and a deeper story might have made it more enjoyable.
