An amazing experience the way it's narrated like an old western. Story is a little short though, but it was a lot of fun, especially with the dueling aspect!
call of juarez gunslinger is a pretty short western arcade style fps
the game is nice for killing some time, it clocks in at about 5-6 hours for the campaign
the story starts with a bounty hunter named silas greaves who enters a bar and starts telling stories, these stories include multiple real life outlaws from the old west which i think is a pretty nice touch
one of the things that made the storytelling feel natural was how he would sometimes make up outlandish claims just to ensure that people were paying attention to his stories
the ending was a nice twist too, and i like how you can choose the outcome of the ending
overall 4/5 game, it would be 5/5 if it was longer and had more content, pretty short length for an fps game (most cod and battlefield games are 7-8 hours on average), but the storytelling and the voice acting here were amazing, i might probably replay this game again some day
Pretty good FPS that prioritises accuracy over fire-rate. Holds up well considering the age but the "showdown" sections can be annoying and feel more like trial-and-error rather than skill based. I finished the story on Normal difficulty in around 6 hours.
One of the best Action-shooters I've ever played.
Techland give us another title in the franchise please, even a remaster will do!
If I was to recommend any Western Game with a Great Story, Great Gameplay and an Unreliable Narrator at the wheel!! :D
This is your choice!! :D
The best arcade-style game I have ever played with a fun interesting story, and incredibly satisfying gameplay.
Very annoying game, especially if you want to look for collectibles... story is very me h..
Took me 4 hours to beat but holy hell were those 4 hours fun
A masterpiece of cowboy vengeance, a classic of gaming, beautiful action with a captivating story. There should be more cowboy games like this but they wouldn't top it, great weapons, great skills, great missions, if you're ever yearning for the wild west this game should be on the list, a great experience worth every dime.
It's basically McCree the video game. Its a short game but really fun.
Gunslinger is easily the best game in the series, and also just a fantastic game on its own; action-packed, tightly paced, and filled with so much wit, style, and personality that it’s hard to believe it was published by Ubisoft. A strong recommendation from me.

Missing a bugged nugget in episode 6. Got all of them but one does not triggered. Anyone knows how to unlock or solve this issue?
Gem of a game. Extremely fun arcade style shooter with a ton of personality and style. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys westerns, or just fans of shooter games in general.
Really fun, short game. Lots of varied environments too. The beginning is quite desert-y and brown, but eventually you see forests and such.
The first couple of hours are punchy and straightforward. But eventually, the game gets really clever about the narrative. The narrator will say things, and the scene will change accordingly. It's really neat.
It LOOKS great on the Steam Deck. But--at least for me--the narrator scenes had really messed up audio. On a desktop, all the crunchy audio stuff should fix itself, but the bigger your screen, the older the game looks. But it's stylized art with lots of flair, so the visuals still really hold up.
Just a really fun cowboy shooter.
Clearing the Dust: A Fun Ride with Silas Greaves
This game has been sitting in my library for years, and I think clearing out never-played games from my library is a very fair commitment. After playing Control, I've been yearning for a palate cleanser. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is just perfect for that.
I had narrowed my options to Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, or Bioshock, but I felt that I wasn't ready to jump into another mind-blowing, heavy narrative game or a super time-consuming, big RPG. The tone, the time to finish, and the gameplay of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger aligns perfectly for a comforting, fun time. It's just perfect for when you want to play, relax, have fun, and not worry about anything else.
The narrative is a cliché, especially regarding the Old West theme, but it's done in a very fun way. The game explores dynamic storytelling ideas that prove to be entertaining. The writing, especially the dialogue, is captivating with its snarky, smart-ass tone. The cartoonish aesthetic is the perfect complement to that. The narrative blurs the lines between myth and reality, offering a fresh take on legendary Western tales.
The game is very short, leaving a taste of wanting more, of 'I could play more of this,' probably because in those last hours I felt like I was just getting good. Maybe it has a high replay value. Let's see about that.
For now, I like the game and recommend it. It gets an 8 out of 10 from me.
Incredible. Other than Fallout New Vegas and RDR 1 and 2 this is the best western game that I’ve played and really should be experienced. Unlike Techland’s other games this game actually has a good story with some cool twists and characters from history. Overall, I’d greatly recommend playing through this game at least once even though it’s very short
Awesome cowboy stuff. Great, fun. Still brings joy.
genuinely fun game i could replay a ton
Really interesting setting, where the story of the game is told in a way, you'd never expect ending with a really good plot twist.
Combat is satisfying as hell, music is nice, graphics are very fitting to be in a cowboy-western style setting.
Characters are all really nicely made. I had alot of fun playing it and would recommend it for sure.
8,5/10
Better graphics and playability than the first one. APPROVED!
feels like the old west. great shooting game
Fun game, worth it when its on sale, don't buy if its not on sale though, I don't think its quite worth $15. The dueling system is really good compared to the first game.
This game is a gem. The way the narrator interacts with the leveldesign reminds me of Bastion somehow. The gameplaycore with its Arcadestyle-rewarded for keeping the combo going is like in the arcadegames with the pistols or miniguns mounted to them.. that principle feels even today engaging and the tunnellevels makes so much sense here.
Even the mainly as annoying considered duell minigame can be fun as soon as you got some practice and some understanding for its actually simple mechanics.
This title comes from a smaller studio without large investments behind, pretty nonexistent marketingfireworks and still a solid succes! COJ aged very well imo and I appreciate that humor for adults and those earlier mentioned facts a lot but I can't give this game a fullblooded recommendation since the game won't launch properly and it took me more luck then research or hotfixes to get this game 100%. Twice I was at the point to give up launching since everything I tried didn't seem to work. How frustrating when a game thats actually not bad sometimes works and sometimes just won't..
01/10 (otherwise it would be a solid 7)
Short, but a fun western game told in the style of a story from a possibly lying gunslinger.
Genuinely one of my favorite wild west shooters and I wish they made more like em. I've played a ton more on my Switch and just wanted a chance to buy the game again but ended up replaying it a few times the past few days. Would recommend!
End less getting killed, not really a lot of fun! Duelling almost impossible.
One of the things I liked about Gunslinger is its narrative approach. The game's story is presented as a series of tall tales told by the protagonist, Silas Greaves, in a saloon. This framing device allows for a non-linear storytelling approach, with each level representing a different story or anecdote from Silas's past. The narrative is engaging, and the game's use of humor and satire adds to its charm.
The gameplay is also noteworthy, with a focus on fast-paced action and quick reflexes. The game's shooting mechanics are satisfying, and the variety of guns and upgrades available keeps the gameplay fresh. The addition of a "concentration" mode, which allows players to slow down time and take out multiple enemies quickly, adds a fun and challenging element to the game.
Another aspect I appreciated is the game's visuals and sound design. The game's graphics are colorful and vibrant, with detailed environments and character models. The sound effects and music are also well-done, with a catchy soundtrack that complements the game's Wild West setting.
One thing that might be a drawback for some players is the game's length. Gunslinger is a relatively short game, with most players able to complete it in around 6-8 hours. However, the game's replay value is high, with multiple difficulty levels and a variety of challenges to complete.
Overall, I would recommend Call of Juarez: Gunslinger to fans of first-person shooters and action games. The game's unique narrative approach, engaging gameplay, and colorful visuals make it a fun and enjoyable experience. While it may be a bit short, the game's replay value and challenging gameplay make it a worthwhile purchase.
After 1 month of searching online i finally found a fix for this game because it didn't even start on my PC

Easily and all-time favourite of mine.
Replayed it a few times already. It's quite short especially once you get the hang of how the weapons and the Duels are meant to work, however don't mistake it being short equal to being bad. This is a masterclass in how to connect the narrative dialogues to the levels you are in.
The voice actors are excellent, they all take small but important parts to the story, even sections where the main man leaves for a bit you can still hear the other actors as if you're sitting at the desk. The story has every part you need and thanks to that so do the levels. The rush from the rapid sequences to the snappy feeling of every weapon and the small yet meaningful skill system adds to this even more.
Highly recommend to anyone fond of fast paced gameplay.
90% of my love for this game comes from it letting me dual wield revolvers. It also has a solid protagonist and a unique presentation.
Played this for the first time in literally 10+ years, and for some reason during the bits where the game would go sepia tone and freeze, the voices were deepened like I was tripping on 500 milligrams of Xanax.
This is video gaming.
Solid FPS story game. Lacks some weapon variety, but then again it's the wild west, IDK what I was expecting other than shotguns, revolvers, and rifles, really.
its the most arcadey of the 3 call of juarez on steam. very linear and the narrator just keeps yapping on and on. looks like a borderlands game. on sale if u like arcade style games could be worth your time - 5/10
One of my favourite single player shooters after The Darkness 2. love the graphics and the epic cowboy
The gameplay was fun but the audio issue during the movies is terrible.
Looked and tried various suggestions to fix it, but nothing worked.
Requested refund.
Pros
• Arcade shooting gallery-style game, pretty fun for short periods of time.
Cons
• The game takes control over your camera all the time, and it is impossible to know when you're in control again. Throws you off the flow.
• Hard to see the enemies without "concentration mode".
• You are railroaded all the time. Deviate from the path, and it's back to the checkpoint. That's fun.
• Control in duels is totally different than the main game. Why?
• Narrator won't shut the hell up. I get that this is the game's gimmick, but it got old after like 20 minutes.
Pretty incredible, which was a bit surprising. I had pretty low expectations after the embarrassing disaster that was CoJ The Cartel, but I really liked the artstyle they were going for and gave it a chance. I do not regret it. Gunplay feels really great, the artstyle was indeed consistently great. But what impressed me the most was actually the narrative. It is such an incredibly unique and cool way to tell a story. There is a narrator, but he constantly changes the story which actually changes in real time what you play through. Super cool stuff and something that is probably only possible through a videogame, or at least only this effective through one. Also helps that the story is really good. You cannot go wrong with this game, and I wish Techland would try something like this again.
Game is ok, story wise its very lazy. Instead of an actual plot line it just makes you do the same mission over and over differently because the story was told "different". Prefer Call of Juarez's before over this and this came out almost a decade after the older games. After 2 missions in it seemed too repetitive , lost interest quick. Skill system is a plus though, thats about the only thing this game has over the originals
This game is deifinitely one of my top 10
If you like western in general, this is a great game for you. You're playing as a bounty hunter, who tells a story about him going out to collect bounties on the most famous gunslingers of the wild west. The story basically tells about their possible fates, while still being true to the known facts.
I also like the way the story is told - The protagonist is telling the story as you play, so the world sometimes changes as he's telling the story.
The gameplay is very simple, you take out your guns, and shoot. There is some level progression, which upgrades your abilities, so that's good.
Graphics are pretty good for 2013, not much of a deal. Audio is another part that makes this game a masterpiece - the sound effects are alright, but the voice acting is 5/5
RATING
Story: 9,5/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Audio: 9/10
Graphics: 6,5/10
Overall - 9/10
That duel mechanic is junky and tutorial can't be under stand at all
I really enjoy this game! It's so much fun and challenges me in a great way. I love its style—it's classic and charming. It has a perfect mix of intensity, humor, and excitement that keeps me hooked
It's a good time. This game knows what it wants to be and it is consistent in that through the whole game. I really enjoyed the story, I enjoyed how short and snappy the missions are - which gives it a faster paced feeling - and I enjoyed the dialogue/way of presenting the story. It's a great arcade style shooter. If you're ever feeling like you want something quick and entertaining to blast through and you want it to be FPS, do a quick run of this. Definitely recommended.
Really, really fun shooter. Worthy buy on sale.
It's kinda short (10 hours on hard).
The gameplay has it's unique elements - the headshots are rewarded with slow-motion, there are cool sections of mexican stand-offs that are quite memorable. Shooting itself is really fun, from sounds to hit registration. It's gory, it requires skill and it's rewarding.
Story is nothing too outstanding, although I fouind myself enjoying the characters quite a bit.
8/10
A very good shooter! The story is good, it's fun that things change as the story teller remembers things (think like Tiny Tina's Wonderland). If you are looking for a solid Western game with a strong narrative, you might be disappointed. But if you're looking for a very solid first-person shooter with some neat and straightforward shooting, then I think you'll enjoy it! Also, it looks great for being 11-years old.
Super fun and straightforward western themed FPS. The presentation is the game's strongest asset. The game uses a cel shaded graphical style that helps to complement the arcade-y action, and the protagonist's unreliable narration gives the game a unique flavor.
My only complaint is that the 1v1 duels can sometimes be a little trial and error-ish, but that's probably just a skill issue on my part.
It just a fun little breezy little game. I like the arcadey ness of the shooting but I'm not really compelled to keep getting a better score. For me the enemies don't stick out well enough from the environment for me to be able to easily recognize them. And your character is a tad too fragile. It's not as breezy enough to be as fun as it should be. But i'd totally recommend it. Especially since you've probably picked this up somewhere over the years.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a straightforward but very well executed on-rails shooter that doesn’t waste a second of its runtime. I always have an appreciation for games that know precisely what they are and don’t waste any time getting to it. Call of Juarez launches right into the good stuff, telling the story of acclaimed bounty hunter Silas Greaves as he encounters and tussles with legends of the Wild West.
The visuals are a mix of realistic with stylized elements, some cell-shading here and there, but for the most part, its’ stylization comes from how it uses the unreliable narrator to play with your expectations. Doors will open, bridges will form, and enemies will be placed precisely to create the perfect action set piece, both for the satisfaction of the player and to fit Silas’ over exaggerated nature. The audio department is similarly polished, featuring an excellent voice cast, notably Silas himself, whose actor perfectly conveys that braggadocious nature, embellishing his stories to pure fantasy. The music is great too, littered with plucky guitars, banjos, and out of tune pianos, the constant gunfire feels like an instrument of its own.
As the story progressed, the events became more and more insane, defying reality, as Silas weaves in more and more legendary outlaws like Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid, his audience becomes more and more untrusting of Silas’ words. He begins only slipping up occasionally, explaining away histories’ “inconsistencies”, but as time goes on, he stretches further and further, and he starts becoming more unstable. I love this kind of protagonist, where you’re not sure whether he’s telling the truth from the very beginning.
The gunplay is fun, if very simple, with lots of great point modifiers for headshots, longshots, catching people while they’re running. You’re encouraged to chain kills together, use dynamite, switch up your weapons, while there aren’t a LOT of elements, it keeps it easy to understand and makes it fun for the player. I will note that I found the duels to be clunkier than expected, maybe I just misunderstood them but I found it oddly tedious to line up and actually win the duel, even dishonorably. Aside from the duels though, the gameplay is smooth sailing.
Overall, Call of Juarez is a standout Western game that wastes none of your time. Its’ unreliable narrator makes for a unique story that makes a great use of its’ characters with banter back and forth. If you wanted to play Red Dead Redemption 2 but your computer is terrible and also you’re a father of 4 with no free time, Call of Juarez is a great alternative. But actually, it’s a fantastic game on its own.
I've never been a big fan of the Western genre but, boy, this game is something. If you love cool stories about bad-ass men - you must play it!
+ Gameplay. It's a very intense first person shooter - the rest doesn't matter. Also, I think that you can't complain about gameplay being repetitive when an entire game takes around 5-7 hours to complete.
+ Storytelling. There's nothing special about the story itself but the way it's being told is so good.
+ Sound and music are a treat to the senses. Hats off to Pawel Blasczak for such a testosterone boosting soundtrack.
+ Graphics, performance, colour correction, level of detail - it must be some kind of Polish magic because not only does the game look fantastic but also both my graphics card and CPU are stone cold while running it at 4K@120. Nowadays, games look just slightly better but they make your hardware burn because they are so demanding for no reason. Unless you're looking at them through a magnifying glass, that graphics boost just isn't noticeable.
P.S. I find it absolutely astonishing that one of the best games about America I've ever played were made by Polish and Finnish game developers.
I love this game. I feel like this game doesn't get any love, but I've played it a few times, and it's a blast! I turn off the points so that it's more like a traditional game than an arcade game. I find it's easier to take it seriously without having scores constantly popping up. The story is fantastic. The combat is challenging at times. I've always said, to myself since nobody ever talks about this game, that this and Red Dead 2, are the best western themed shooter games. It's just a lot of fun, all the Call of Juarez games are. The game runs fantastic too, especially on Steam Deck. If you have an OLED Deck, it can run the game maxed out at 90 FPS, no problem, performance to spare and decent battery life. Especially if you limit it to 60 FPS.
CALL OF JUAREZ GUNSLINGER
ALL GUNSLINGER, NO JUAREZ, SOME CALL
This is Call of Juarez Gunslinger. I haven't spotted and storyline connections, or character connections, so I'm assuming it was a different game shoe horned into the Call of Juarez series just to make it sell.
This game is fantastic! The way the story is told, the actors, the referenced characters in the American Wild West, and the visual and audio styling is all fantastic! In this game you play as Silas Greaves, in search for the last gunman involved in the death of his brethren. He gets his revenge on everyone except for the last man, which you get to choose what happens. The way the story is told is a mix of total bullshit and absolute hilarious recounting from the memory of an old drunk, and the game shifts around in the levels as the story is told. That's pretty wild, but what's even more wild is how the gunplay changed, and is more like Bulletstorm now. Its a great change, because combo shooting and skill shots award you extra experience to put points in the 3 skill trees, as well as having you feel like a righteous gun slinging badass!
+Pros
+The story telling is great, and they definitely picked the correct voice acting cast for that.
+The audio design is great, you can easily tell where the next enemy is, what kind of foliage you are trudging through, and every level of the game has a different audio backdrop that is also dynamic. I was not expecting this at all, compared to the previous entries.
+The visual design is more Borderlands meets Red Dead Redemption, and is fun and fast during gunplay. Everything has this comical black border, and wildly contrasting colors that makes everything POP!
+There are collectibles that tell some bits of random American Wild West history
-Cons
-The difficulty is quite unbalanced towards the end of the game. The way the story is structured will have you a little burnt out towards the end, so you should stick with finishing the game in the same weekend.
-Duels mode is not that fun. The duels are the worst part of the game, so I don't understand why it needed its own mode. The previous entries had bad duel modes too.
-The arcade mode isn't long enough. Individual levels are great, I just wish there were more levels to play.
8/10 because I'M A COWPOKE
