the best game of my childhood
They really don't make them like they used to..
Doesn't look like no chicken chaser to me!
Nostalgic <3
I received a quest card where the task is "Buy this game, enter and kick the chicken for 10 minutes, then leave."
great story
better than anniversary
Fable is a solid RPG adventure that holds up well for its age, around 20 or so years as it was originally an x-box title. It worked well for me other than a couple of crashes to desktop and graphically it's fine, better than the early Gothic games which i'm fond of. The character looks a lot like Geralt from Witcher 3 as he gets older, depending I suppose on the hair and beard style you choose
At first I struggled to get into the game until I finished with the early years and was able to do World saves, and more areas of the map were opened. But it's worth getting through that and there are enough side quests and main quests to hold interest. It's also good that you don't get over-encumbered with stuff or have to gather ingredients to make potions as these can just be bought from traders. This means that it's an RPG-lite but there are plenty of more in-depth games out on the PC market so that's fine. It's just an enjoyable gaming experience.
oldie but goodie, coming of age, make your own way fantasy adventure
gg
10/10
It is older game so some mechanics are not perfect, but I wish we had more games like this, giving players a lot of freedom how they want to go around it. Starting with appearance that includes attractiveness and scariness factor, you can play good or evil and a top of that you can basically marry anyone you like or murder whoever you do not. Your choices got impact on world, side quests, minigames and exploration rewards are present too.
If you are deciding between anniversary or this version. I personally do not like the remastered version, some areas are not perfect in The Lost Chapters and menu is not modern, but it just overall looks and feels much better.
Played this game since I was a kid, and I loved the entire story, all of the forks in the roads, and definitely the challenges as well. HIGHLY recommend this game, even if it is over 15 years old lol
yeah, it's cool
ive played this so many times no game will ever compare in the way this can when it comes to entertainment and quality
fuck epic insane incredible amazing superb terrific classic awesome spectacular fantastic cool wonderful fun refreshing vibrant FUN
This version makes me realize anniversary never was required.
i abuse my family fart on them then laugh in there face :)
been playing this game for years, highly reccomend if u haven't played it,a must play if your into rpgs
Fable is many things and not enough at the same time. The remnants of the tumultuous ambition from the talented Blue Box Studios is apparent from the very beginning of the game, while Peter Molyneux's trail of broken promises similarly is hard to ignore. On its own merits, Fable is a predominantly solid RPG with an impressive global AI system that goes the extra length in aiding player immersion thanks to its innovative implementation of life-simulation elements. While combat is generally responsive and fluid, targeting enemies is a different story. You'll often become irritated by unintentional infighting within your party, as well as occasionally commit murder on innocent NPCs by total accident. At the end of the day, Fable still holds up as one of the more memorable and innovative Western RPGs of the early 2000s.

Overall: 8.25/10
Fable is the pumpkin pie of Fantasy RPG's. You may not love it, but if you like it, you will want more than one slice, the craving is painful, an item relegated to being seasonal so you wont get it often, and the mix is delicate and easily ruined.
That absolutely tortured analogy is a bad way of saying that RPG's like this dont exist anymore, but there is an appetite for them. People act like game companies are only recently "falling off" but Lionhead was a real loss, and all the wrong lessons were learned from their destruction. We live in an era of mostly garbage with some bright spots here and there, but you wont find anything like Fable.
Be sad.
**Fable: The Lost Chapters – An Enchanting Expansion of a Classic**
Fable: The Lost Chapters is a remarkable expansion of the original Fable game, offering players an even deeper dive into the whimsical and richly crafted world of Albion. Released in 2005, this enhanced edition builds on the beloved features of the original while introducing new content that enriches the overall experience.
From the outset, The Lost Chapters captivates with its charming visuals and immersive environments. The game retains the vibrant art style that defined the original Fable, but with improved graphics and additional detail that make the world of Albion feel even more alive. Whether you’re exploring lush forests, bustling towns, or dark dungeons, the attention to detail enhances the sense of adventure and wonder.
The gameplay in The Lost Chapters expands upon the already engaging mechanics of Fable. Players are given more freedom to shape their hero’s journey, with new quests, items, and character customization options. The introduction of additional storylines and side quests adds depth to the narrative, providing more opportunities for exploration and moral decision-making. Your choices genuinely impact the world around you, leading to varied outcomes that encourage multiple playthroughs.
Combat remains fluid and intuitive, seamlessly integrating melee, ranged, and magical abilities. The expanded skill tree allows for greater character development, enabling players to specialize in their preferred playstyle. This flexibility enhances the excitement of encounters, making each battle feel unique and rewarding.
One of the standout features of The Lost Chapters is its emphasis on storytelling. The new content introduces intriguing characters and expands upon the lore of Albion, creating a more immersive narrative experience. The humor and charm that fans loved in the original are still present, making interactions with NPCs enjoyable and memorable.
The soundtrack and voice acting in The Lost Chapters deserve special mention, as they contribute significantly to the overall atmosphere. The whimsical music complements the game’s lighthearted moments while adding tension during more dramatic scenes. The voice acting brings the characters to life, adding personality and depth to the interactions.
In summary, Fable: The Lost Chapters is a brilliant expansion that enhances the original experience in meaningful ways. With its beautiful visuals, expanded content, and engaging gameplay, it offers a captivating journey through a fantastical world filled with charm and adventure. Whether you’re a returning fan or a newcomer to the series, The Lost Chapters provides an unforgettable experience that showcases the magic of Albion. Prepare to embark on a heroic quest that will leave you enchanted!
I didn't know my health was low. But thank god I had some potions and food laying around.
Truly, a game
Perfect.
If you're looking for a captivating blend of adventure, lore, and choices that matter, look no further than Fable - The Lost Chapters. Originally released in the early 2000s, this game has aged like fine wine and continues to attract new players with its enchanting world and charming storytelling.
From the moment you step foot in the beautiful, open-world of Albion, you’re greeted with a rich tapestry of characters and quests that breathe life into the environment. The game brilliantly balances whimsy and darkness, allowing players to explore vibrant villages, treacherous dungeons, and everything in between. Each area is meticulously designed, filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered and NPCs with their own stories and personalities.
One of the standout features of Fable is its emphasis on player choice. Your actions shape not only your character’s appearance but also the world around you. Want to be a hero revered by the people? You can do that. Prefer to walk the path of a villain, instilling fear in the hearts of villagers? The game allows for that too. This moral flexibility is refreshing and gives players the freedom to create their own narrative, making each playthrough unique.
Character progression is another highlight. As you complete quests and engage in combat, you gain experience points that can be allocated to various skills, allowing for a customized gameplay experience. Whether you prefer wielding spells, swinging swords, or mastering stealth, Fable offers a system that rewards your personal playstyle.
Graphically, The Lost Chapters has retained a certain charm, with its stylized art direction giving it a timeless quality. While it may not rival the graphics of modern titles, the enchanting aesthetic pairs perfectly with the fairy-tale narrative. The soundtrack, too, deserves a mention; it immerses you in the fantasy realm, enhancing the emotional stakes of your journey.
However, it's worth noting that the game's pacing can be inconsistent at times. Some quests may feel drawn out, and certain gameplay mechanics may seem clunky by today’s standards. Yet, these minor flaws are easily overshadowed by the sheer joy of exploration and the countless memorable moments the game presents.
In summary, Fable - The Lost Chapters is a delightful adventure that captures the essence of story-driven gaming. With its player-centered choices, engaging world, and unforgettable characters, it stands the test of time as a true classic. Whether you're a newcomer to the series or revisiting Albion after many years, this title is well worth your time. So grab your sword or your spellbook, and dive into an adventure that promises both laughter and tears. You won't regret it!
This game is one of my absolute favorites. I played this game once for three days straight with barely any sleep and I managed to beat it within those three days.
Good game
I had never played Fable as a kid because I always felt like they were one of those "xbox fanboy titles" like people swearing there's nothing better than Gears of War.
This was recently on sale for my laptop I use in college and thought "what's the harm in trying?"
This game is awesome. The gameplay is great, leveling is divided into 4 types (standard with their green orbs, strength, will and skill) and this makes so much sense as you'll only get xp from using relevant skills. Graphics have aged, it's an old game, but they've aged beautifully because of the whimsical artstyle so you'll never stop and think "God this looks awful".
I find quests, social features and other non-combat mechanics are novel, and just as, if not more profound than similar mechanics in more contemporary titles.
Definitely a game to recommend.
this game still brings so many good memories to me, it never changes and gives you the best story no matter what choices you make.
if you haven't played it, than you are missing out.
Such a gem of a game. A must-play, imho.
Steam version doesn't support gamepad, what the hell?
But the game is one of the best RPG I've played.
Fable is truly one of my all-time favorite games. I have countless fond memories of it, and it’s hard to put into words just how much this epic journey, infused with lots of humor, means to me. Yes, the game has aged, and the gameplay might seem simple by today’s standards, but there’s a timeless charm, care, and attention to detail that make this game nothing short of a masterpiece in my eyes. It's an undeniable classic that I’ll always love.
So nostalgic. Saw my bro playing it as a child. Played Fable II and 3 first and then got back to this one as i got older haha
maybe the worst game ever made
My journey with Fable began when the original came out for Xbox in like 20 years ago. Prior to DLC and what not, I only got exposed to The Lost Chapters much later with Anniversary. You will find I throw Anniversary under the bus more.
First point: The only reason I would recommend Anniversary over Fable: The Lost Chapters is if lack of controller support is an issue. If you do not mind keyboard controls, I 100% think this is the preferable option. Having played Anniversary and went back to this, I have a few points.
The graphics I find more appealing than Anniversary. While yes, some of the environments in Anniversary are more touched up, they really botched the NPC appearances. They just look so weird. Just look up a photo of Lady Grey from The Lost Chapters, and put it next to the Anniversary version, and you'll see what I mean.
I get a more stable frame rate with The Lost Chapters, but not in a "My Hardware is weak" kind of way. It almost feels like Anniversary was poorly optimized. Some of the spell effects are just bad. Enflame looks awful, Physical shield has trouble rendering half of the time. The mana regen effect when received from an Augment messes with the mana bar. Just weird stuff like that.
The Anniversary results in the loss of Hero Saving, which is a nifty little tool that, when used properly, can remedy the old sack of potatoes your Hero becomes. Although it also means you can't save in the middle of quests, which I suppose you can give a point to Anniversary if that matters to you. Realistically, very few of the quests are major time sinks, so I would just recommend budgeting your time accordingly.
Gameplay wise, both games are identical, with the hero save change being one of the major changes.
If gameplay is your only metric, I would say it doesn't matter, but I personally have found The Lost Chapters to be smoother and better optmized. That's just me though.
Summary:
If controllers matter, go Anniversary.
If controllers don't matter, go The Lost Chapters.
awesome game
GOTY
classic we all the fable games back onsteam ill buy them all!!!
Fable, the beginning of the Fable series. As far as medieval adventure game goes, this one is exceptional in story telling, combat, and world! Fable has its fair share of problems but plenty to expect with great adventures, interesting villains, and fantastic supporting characters, this game is truly a must play for any medieval adventure fan.
Can't beat a classic. Made all the better by the Aeon Edition by Alexander the Alright.
Pro tip: The bloom is busted. Set Effects Detail to 1. It's not a big loss.
Nope. I am done.
If you are on along mission, say Twinblade's camp, Hero save, exit and load up again. Your Bandit clothes are gone and you have to fight to get them back again. How is this fun? Not everyone has unlimited time to play at the whim of the programmer, or leave your PC on for days so you don't lose progress. Game programmers grow up and let us save when we want.
How is this fun? That's right, it isn't.
its fable idk wat 2 tell u
so easy and fun to play
