The game had a lot of fun! Nice gameplay, nice soundtracks, worth it!!
If you enjoy stealth games, then this little known title will likely be right up your alley. The game is pretty simple and not too long, but I had a load of fun working my way through it, earning all the achievements along the way. There is also a built in level editor and the option to download and play community maps from other players, so if you haven't had your fill by the end of the game, there is plenty more content to keep you occupied for some time to come. Though admittedly I haven't delved too far into that side of things as I always have a long backlog of games to get through. I'd probably grab it on a sale, but otherwise I recommend you give this a shot.
You don't play a game for 914 hrs. unless it's brilliant imo. That's just this 2nd purchase, The 1st became corrupted and unplayable.
The original concept is obviously great but the games designed by members are exceptional. I like to keep trying the same game until I complete it without losing a life. That is no mean feat. Some are too long without being difficult. Others can be short and very difficult but do-able; even if it takes many attempts. I love the genius of some. One designer in particular, Symbus, has provided me with ultimate challenges, each one with it's own originality and cleverness that is really rewarding when completed. I am a little addicted to say the least and probably play every night before bed. I am retired and the game keeps my brain ticking over. To me Dynamite Jack is more than worth the purchase price.
Fun game from a free-software supporter. Each level is a puzzle to figure out with a combination of stealth and exploration. I like how the predictable enemies can be seen through a minimap or on-screen. Lots of bonus objectives for each level, which will get you completing them again and again.
I was not a fan of the sound effects, but this is the type of game that you listen to a podcast while exploring the level. I enjoyed this game on an ubuntu linux desktop with radeon mesa graphic driver. The game uses a specially designed game engine, and it takes up a mere 50 MBs of diskspace. I recommend this game for anyone looking for a casual puzzle experience with stealth elements.
Music: Awesome
Graphics: Cool
Game Mechanics: Good
Editor: Great!
But the game is boring because: There are absolutely NO PHYSICS and the enemy A.I. isn't really an A.I.
If these two things get fixed in Dynamite Jack 2 I would buy and recommend it.
It would be cool too if there were XP and a skill system and some new items and other game content.
btw the atmosphere with the graphics and music is great.
PROS: Easy to play, very straightforward puzzle-like stealth gameplay
CONS: The rules as to what enemies can "hear" don't seem well defined, some of the later levels are just pure trial and error instead of logic and take way too many attempts to solve
OVERALL: Don't pay full price for this, get it on sale. Expect a game which is fun for the first 75% and frustratingly tedious for the final 25%. Expect about 5~8 hours of gameplay to see and do everything.
A good game, kinda reminiscent of the old Bomberman on Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
Place bombs, collect codes to doors, hide in shadows and/or start ultra mayhem blast chaos!
I didn´t expect much and the game surprised me. Game mechanics are fine. Sometimes there are even puzzles with more than one solution, because you can bomb your own way forward (i mean, literally - you make path in terrain with your bombs). Even though I suffered frustration, I blame my fat clumsy fingers more than the game itself.
Not a long game, though, 8 maps pieces, 28 levels. You can finish it in about 5 hrs.
+ Community maps. Over 100 of them.
If you are into Achievements, you can make most of them easily - 12/13, 92%.
However... if you want to collect all 100 percent, there are people who say it took about 3 more hours, but I still believe you have to be buddhist monk with russian acrobat skills and timing of a p0*nstar. The horror part is you see you can do it, but then you make a tiny, tiny mistake...
Darkness, enemies and you. The best thing about this game is that there is never only one method of finishing a map. Even the small arsenal you have gives you many choices and after you complete a map you instantly have the urge to complete it once again, but this time following one of the extra rules. A game with nice mood and medium level of logical challenge.
This game scratches a distinctly Chip's Challenge-esque itch. For a stealth-type game, it's not very stressful; the main series of levels is longer than people's complaints would lead you to believe, and the Workshop content can be pretty strong - but you'll probably tire out of it right at the end of the main level series anyways.
Mix of a bomberman and stealth game. Not so long but pretty fun for a while. Recommended (especially when it's on sale).
Just another stealth game on Steam? Kinda.
Overall its pretty okey game, requires few hours from player, some of achievemnts and levels in the end is a little bit challenging. If it happens, that you have this game on library and you are ok with avarage stealth game, I guess its worth playing through.
Dynamite Jack is a stealth game. You have the ability to start with or pickup bombs and a flashlight in order to achieve your goal of reaching the end of the level. In order to reach the end of the level you will need to evade or kill the soldiers protecting the mines you are walking through, collect key cards and/or destroy colored electrical fields. The graphics are simple, but work very well for this type of game and definitely let you know if you will be seen or not. The ability to control your character through the levels is very intuitive and fluid. The difficulty level ramps up as you progress through the mines and special ways of beating each level are offered such as no flashlight, no deaths, or no kills. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, beat the game and then came back to unlock all achievements. A very approachable and fun stealth game that you shouldn't miss.
I supper loved this game. I grinded, rage quit, got bored and utterly annoyed but every.....single.... time.... i came back to it. It was really fin and the difficulty ramps up nicely and even the achievements that "seems" impossible have a solutiion. Overall, i really enjoyed it. Heing a stealthy bombing assassin was fun, both when i killed everyone and when i snuck through like a flipping ghost.
I highly reccommend this to anyone who enjoys stealth games or puzzlers. It is fun. And the developer balanced the levels really well. You got a "destroy everyone's shit" level after a super hard "don't kill anyone and don't die" level so you could release the pend up stress and frustration. It took me around 7-8 hours to complete it and that was with me being super idle or walking away when i was raging. A decent game for a decent price.
Great stealth bomberman-like game. I really love how well flashlight works in game like this. Can't actually believe you can work with light so well in 2D environment. For big challange try to complete all achievemnets on all maps. Campaign is quite easy, but not too easy. You need to use your brain at least couple times a level. I fell the nostalgy, when playing this game, the 2086 times :). Smooth, simple and very fun gameplay. I purchased this for 1 Euro after using coupon.
95/100
A Bomberman recreation with darkness mode on. Not a very long game but challenging and even the maps are designed to allow you to replay them since it's hard to remember them. The in-game builder is useful for creating own maps. Although it's not a thriller, I love how the soundtracks darkens the mood. I recommend it especially for this price.
I just spend 12 hours completing Dynamite Jack. Have I longed for a game like this in years! The nostalgic going-back-in-time feeling of Commodore64, wow that is not something I come across often.
I bought this game because I received a 75% off ticket to this game I had never even heard of - but it's worth the full price. Absolutely!
God dammit, if you are from an age where you used a joystick, you WILL miss out if you don't give this game and yourself a chance to do what I just did.
Dynamite Jack feels like a finnish homebrew from the nineties. I wager that this was a game that was made technology first, design later. The story is slapped on, the art direction is nonexistent, the levels are simple and uninteresting and the game introduces pretty much all of its few features in the first couple of levels. I see no reason to recommend nor play Dynamite Jack.
Stealth and remotely-detonated bombs somehow combined, challenge and high replayability... And a level editor and user-generated levels on top of that! It's a great game to kill some time, and provides a lot of bang for your buck considering it's a $5 game. Definitely worth checking out the demo if any of that sounds at all enjoyable to you. This game surprised me.
Excellent game. Nice old-school graphics. Stealth is a must! Collect the items, comlpete certain level requirements for achievements, which add a bit extra to the gameplay. It won't take more than 30 minutes to complete this game, but it is really enjoyable.
9/10!
Fun game. Easy to win up through about the halfway point. Extreme difficulty ramp after that point. I have tried about three dozen times to get the last anathemite level perfect without success. Even when it is garment rendingly frustating it is still quite fun. Recommend.
