It seems like a missed opportunity here, the game ends up not using the gameplay it has available such as peeking around corners and moving objects. It also gives away the plot too early due to the obvious signs it gives. I thought it would be a small team due to its rustic nature of the game, but the credits had a huge number of people.
I give a positive evaluation due to the game's intention.
such a good game graphics are amazing i love how it ends with the dad but plz come out with a among the sleep 2! if you do can you give teddy a friend? and if you do give him one can it be a black cat? if you cant do this plz add more to the ending!
very good game and great story!! has a lot of sad and scary moments but it is perfect fort anyone who likes horror games becuase it has a lot of creepy thiongs very nice and updatted graphics
I bought this game at a huge discount and that almost made it worthwhile. Most of the time was spent collecting meaningless drawings just to waste time and get the game to where you can't finish it in time to get a refund. The horror aspect of the game I found more annoying than genuinely scary. The save system sucks, and there are places you have to play the whole chapter over if you missed something or took a wrong turn. The story wasn't enough to sustain hokey gameplay. I didn't complete the prologue which was some puzzles which didn't work for whatever reason, even following a walkthru. Maybe buy for less than five bucks, but I was disappointed.
I rarely write negative reviews however this game unfortunately was quite disappointing.
The visuals are good and the toddler perspective is interesting, but the story was exceptionally short took an obvious turn near the middle. Not fun enough to chase achievements either. This isnt necessarily a bad game, it just lacks any kind of excitement or fun mechanics.
4/5
Back when indie horrors used to be cool. Not scary but fun to play and even more fun to watch how others play and do commentary.
"Among the Sleep" is an extraordinary horror game created by Krillbite Studio, which puts the player in the shoes - or rather in the small shoes - of a two-year-old child. The title is distinguished by its original perspective and unique approach to storytelling, although its implementation is not always of the highest standard.
The gameplay consists mainly of exploration, solving simple puzzles and trying to avoid sinister creatures that lurk in the dark corners of children's imagination. The key element is the narrative - the game presents a dark, metaphorical story about trauma and fear, seen through the eyes of a child. The atmosphere is thick and built mainly by great sound design and atmospheric locations.
Definetly a experience, i remember the hype when it was release, it was like: "A horror game where you play as a baby? God damn this will be gruesome, idk if i'm that courageous to play it!" yet if im not wrong, across the time apparently they had several problems in release and ended up with this enhanced edition, it got too low price that i ended up buying, trying and 100%, it's pretty good, it's kinda looks like Stephen King type of horror, it shows the horrors of the real life... coated with some fantasy horror, which keeps reminding me that real life ends up being more horrifying than any horro fantasy.
good game also norwegian dub appreciate it mate
Overall for the price it sells at normally, it's a pretty decent game. Mind you there is some minor bugs here and there due to how old the game is, but not overly.
Pros: Living my best baby goo-goo-gaa-gaa life while I do a Scooby Dooby Doo mystery on what happened to my mama. It's a super fun concept and I do love the overall pacing and vibe of the game. I do like that the game doesn't over last a unnecessary amount of time in every section.
Cons: Not a very scary game, It just has the dark theme and occasional monsters that walk by to tickle your feeties. BUT, that's not to much of a dislike, its a nice game if you wanna have a scare on chill mode.
Overall does it also have replay-ability? I'd say sure on occasion. It's not Baldurs Gate 3 level of replay, its more like a "I wanna replay that cool theme and story cause its been awhile" kinda games. Worth the purchase, tho if you can for sure get it on the discount, that's a even better deal.
its ok as a game it fails as a horror game but if you want a nice short experience this is it
As a survival horror game, this is pretty good. As a game where the devs have any respect for the players, it's not. The game is divided into fairly long chapters and if you stop playing in the middle of the chapter, you can only restart at the beginning of the chapter even though the game autosaves at checkpoints as you play. The devs are aware of this problem and basically said it was too hard to fix so they didn't bother. Would not buy another game from this studio.
This game has some potential. It was cute and a little eerie. You play as a child that carries a talking teddy bear around to look for your mother. The ending was a shocker for me but the game was very short. Five hours. It was a quick play through. I rate this about a 6/10. The puzzles were fun...ish.
Short and sweet but heavily overpriced if not on sale
really nostalgic, love the visuals, the story, the meaning, honestly comforting in a way. would recommend
The game was very good scary and fun and a interesting story at least in my opinion about the little boy that you play as with the talking teddy bear that guides you kinda at least in the beginning and having nightmares of a shadowy figure chasing you throughout the game
This is my first time playing this game in what it feels like 7 years. This game is nothing like how I remembered it. It is truly an amazing work of art. The sound design in this game is remarkable, it feels like I'm actually in the game myself, and it's very immersive. The crawling feature is one of my favorite things besides the sound design and the world-building. It's funny that crawling is faster than walking lol, it's a cute and clever way to immerse the player in the world and how it's seen in the eyes of an actual toddler.
8/10 story a bit short but is super cool and unique!
Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition
Positives:
+ Made in Norway
+ Original idea
+ Creepy atmosphere
+ Interesting POV
+ A story with layers
+ Important message and theme
+ Good sounds and music
+ Nice voiceacting
+ Okay graphics
+ Small puzzles
+ Achievements
+ FOV adjuster
+ Prologue and museum chapters included (can be started from chapters menu after finishing the game)
Negatives:
- The demo had overall better graphics (but thats a matter of taste)
- A bit quirky controls
- A few bugs and glitches
- The baby falls down all the time while running (realistic but quite annoying)
- Feels a bit repetitive at times
- Some parts are so-so
- Very short (over in 1.5-2.5 hours)
So, you like the idea of controlling a two year old baby in a frightening dream world?
Well, then you know what to do. Its not a long game, but its well worth a playthrough.
Total Score: 7/10
I was hoping some messed up scenarios would happen in the game but it was kinda silly.
The monster's and scary stuff are not that scary or interesting.
Kind of just toggled the crawl mode and wanted to breeze through it, I probably should of just watched a YouTube video with the volume off and running at 5x speed to save time.
Wasn't for me, but maybe someone who likes a walking sims and easy puzzles might like it.
I finally had the opportunity to play this game years after I saw the Markiplier let's play. I love the story and the overall pacing of the game. It's a decent 2 to 3 hour game and really keeps the horror atmosphere strong. The anxiety i felt not knowing what was happening or if something was ambient noise vs an actual creature will have me in therapy for the next year lmao. Overall a great experience and would be perfect except for how often I got stuck unable to move. Several times I got stuck just by accidentally walking into a stick spot the worst was getting stuck in the portal house due to the bear. It is an older game so it certainly is to be expected that some issues pop up and certainly didn't detract from my overall enjoyment just a mild frustration. 8/10 solid solid game.
Single mom just doing her best, while baby goes on horrifying adventure. lol on the real, I really loved the way the story is told. Viewing the story from the perspective of a child, picking apart the imagery, and connecting the dots to get the full picture. Beautifully made! Would recommend to those looking for scary, but not terrifying. Theres also collectables, and we all love a little hidden something to find.
.
Among The Sleep is a kickstarter game that is not going to be for everyone. It's hardly a walking sim and there are ways to "die." The story is going to hit home for some folks and the subject matter might be tough if it's something that you can relate to. I rarely get emotional during a game, but the ending hit me very hard as it's something that I closely relate to. It's probably the first time a game ending evoked this emotion from me and caused me to cry. In my opinion, Among The Sleep is a necessary game and is less of a horror game and more of an analysis on broken homes, addiction, and childhood trauma. Among The Sleep has tugged at my heart strings and while it is a very short game, it's an experience that I think I needed to have. I would rate it an overall 4.5/5 and I would strongly recommend this game.
Good game, good story but achievements are broken after 5+ years still. Dodge buying this if you want to %100

Wow. I could just write that as my review because this game has suuuuuch a deeper meaning than it seems when you begin the game. I won't give any spoilers. This game is just definitely going to be one I will revisit. That's for sure.
This game gets pretty creepy and pretty quick too. It has you questioning the entire time what is really going on. Why is this baby going on an adventure with a teddy bear to find where his mom went? The answer to that question is why this game is so good. Once you finish the game too, it gives you this museum to walk through. You get to see what it took to create this game. They show you every meaning behind every chapter. It's so masterful. So well thought out. Definitely worth the purchase.
The game is supposed to be tense and a little scary. But the game didn't cause any of that in me, except for some jokes along the way. And unlike other games, I know this game, but not that well. I only saw it briefly from some YouTubers.
The game itself, like many similar ones, has eternal problems with either one of the parents being drunk (in this case, our mother), or the parents' divorce, although this is not so common in games. The whole basis is our main character - a two-year-old child, who, because of all these problems, dreams of all sorts of nonsense related to all his toys in the room, with which we interact. Our enemy is a distorted drunk mother. And throughout the game we try to solve puzzles, which, as it were, try to explain to us the whole point (that is, the history) of the game.
Overall, the game is worth recommending. The gameplay is pretty simple (for a small child), and the plot is pretty easy to understand.
The atmosphere and themes are well done, but it's let down by its limited gameplay. I would honestly prefer if it was just a pure walking-sim, the encounters with the monster are handled poorly and only serve to remind you that you are playing a game, which makes all the effort put toward atmosphere feel moot. It becomes too surreal too quickly as well, which makes it hard to feel frightened after the opening moments are through.

This baby, didn't.
I did.

"Among the Sleep" is a hauntingly beautiful and emotionally charged game that takes the player on a journey through the eyes of a vulnerable, frightened toddler. Developed by Krillbite Studio, this first-person horror adventure combines innocence and terror in a way that few games do, making it a truly unique experience.
The game's strength lies in its atmosphere and storytelling. Set in a surreal, dreamlike world, the player navigates through dark, twisted versions of everyday places—like a home or a playground—transformed into terrifying and mysterious landscapes. These environments are filled with eerie sounds and unsettling visuals that perfectly capture the fear and wonder of a child’s imagination, evoking a genuine sense of dread as you move through shadowy hallways and distorted spaces. Each location tells its own story, gradually uncovering the mystery behind the toddler’s troubled family life.
Playing as a toddler is not only innovative but also deeply impactful. The mechanics, such as crawling and climbing, reinforce a feeling of vulnerability. You’re small, weak, and unable to fight back against the lurking threats, making the experience intensely immersive. The only "companion" on this journey is a talking teddy bear, who provides a small, comforting presence amidst the fear. The bear acts as a guide and a source of courage, reminding players that they are, after all, seeing the world through the eyes of a young child.
One of the game’s most poignant aspects is how it deals with complex themes, particularly those related to family struggles and the resilience of a child’s spirit. Without giving away too much, "Among the Sleep" explores heavy subjects through subtle storytelling that feels honest and respectful. It encourages the player to interpret the story in their own way, leaving a lasting emotional impact long after the game ends.
Overall, "Among the Sleep" is more than a horror game; it’s an emotional journey through the eyes of a child, beautifully crafted and unforgettable. It’s a game that resonates with players on a personal level, bringing out feelings of both fear and empathy, and it truly stands out for its unique approach to horror and storytelling. If you’re looking for a game that combines chills with a thought-provoking narrative, "Among the Sleep" is a must-play experience.
Such a great game. It's a very interesting portrayal of how something so serious can seem from the perspective of a small child.

amzing game
(ENGLISH + SPANISH)
Honestly, I didn't understand anything, or at least that's what I thought before reaching the end of the game and completing the DLC. Among the Sleep had been sitting in my Steam library for quite a while, because at some point it was practically given away to everyone, and I remembered that back in the day, it was the "boom". All the YouTubers were playing it and saying it was an amazing game, so I decided to finally give it a shot. Truth be told, I had no clue what it was about, but I thought, “Alright, let’s see what it’s like.”
The game itself is weird, really weird. At first, without any clear hints about the plot, everything feels pretty confusing. You move through dark, unsettling environments with a constant sense of unease, but without fully understanding why. However, that confusion starts to clear up as you approach the end. That’s when everything starts to make sense, especially if you take the time to collect all the drawings that unlock the museum.
The museum is kind of an extra gallery where you can see the game’s concept art, learn about its development, the characters, and dive deeper into each character's storyline. It’s a really cool feature because it adds context to the whole story. After collecting all the drawings and seeing the full ending, I was finally able to draw a clear conclusion about what was going on.
In the end, you realize that the real monster wasn’t just the mother, but everything she represented in the child’s life. The dysfunctional relationship with the father, her addiction to alcohol, and the abuse towards her son created this kind of darkness that engulfed everything. What’s interesting is that in the museum, you can also see what the alternate ending would have been like, along with an earlier version of the story. Honestly, it’s a great detail. It shows you how the game could have been much scarier, but I think it was a smart decision to focus more on the story development and the characters rather than just pure horror.
In short, Among the Sleep is a good game, short, and perfect if you want to experience something light in the horror genre with a unique twist. It’s not the scariest game you’ll ever play, but it’s good enough to enjoy for a while. I’d recommend it, but don’t expect too much beyond a simple horror experience with a solid narrative background.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Among the Sleep is a beautiful and scary game that lets players see the world through a toddler's eyes, The game shows strong feelings of fear and worry. Zoey " the mother " struggles with her own problems, hinting at past troubles that might include abuse or sadness, These parental issues deeply affect the child, showing how family problems can influence a young mind. We can say that we learned that parents should not hurt each other, either physically or verbally, in front of their children because of its themes and scary moments, this game is not suitable for children to play, it is suitable for adults, as it teaches important lessons about parenting and respect in relationships. The images and scenes make these feelings even stronger. This game is not only exciting but also tells a deep story about childhood fears and family.
Game is good for 3rd graders.
Loved it, every second of it, rate this game highly
Such a deep meaning behind such a beautiful game. Setting is eerie and allows the player to go around and find the memories. After playing, once you've reached the end, the truth is "revealed" leaving a heartbreaking discovery!

Gameplay experience
Among The Sleep excels in offering intuitive and very easy-to-use controls, making it accessible to all players, including those not familiar with horror games. The gameplay is well-balanced, focusing more on exploration and narrative rather than complex mechanics or difficulty spikes.
However, player engagement can feel slightly limited. While the premise of playing as a toddler in a nightmarish world is interesting, the game doesn’t fully captivate at all times. Decision relevance is somewhat meaningful, but the linearity of the game reduces the weight of player choices. Progression feels neutral, as while the story moves forward, the advancement doesn’t bring a high level of satisfaction.
Presentation & Immersion
The storyline, while moderately interesting, could use more depth to maintain engagement throughout the game. Despite this, the atmosphere is a major highlight of Among The Sleep. The eerie environments, paired with the child’s perspective, create a very immersive experience that pulls players into its unsettling world.
Visually, the game is quite appealing, with its stylized graphics and surreal designs adding to the overall mood. The audio quality is very engaging, with ambient sounds and unsettling music that enhance the tension and contribute to the fear factor. The HUD is clean and very friendly, allowing players to focus on the experience without being distracted by the interface.
Design & Technical Aspects
The game design is well-executed, offering a unique perspective from the eyes of a child, which impacts how the world is interacted with. The content, while not abundant, is extensive enough for a short horror experience, though players might wish for a bit more variety or length.
The AI behavior is good, functioning appropriately for the type of horror encounters presented. The game’s settings are flexible enough to adjust the experience to your liking, and technically, the game runs smoothly with no major issues or bugs.
Final Considerations
Overall, Among The Sleep offers a neutral level of satisfaction. It is an interesting, unique horror experience but lacks depth in certain areas to make it feel more substantial. There are no microtransactions, which is always a plus, and the replay value is moderate. While the game is relatively short, its unique perspective makes it worth a revisit for some players.
The cost-to-play ratio is excellent, considering the unique narrative and experience the game offers. If you're looking for a different take on horror games, Among The Sleep is a solid recommendation, especially for those who enjoy atmospheric, story-driven experiences.
