More enjoyable than Vegas 2, slower paced, very enjoyable and can be challenging at first
A very famous oldiegoldie tactical shooter from the 2000's easy install for Win10. don't listen to people who telling you directly that you have to delete .dll files or download dangerous 3rd party programs to let it run. in my case it worked directly without had to do anything then only installing the game through steam and play. and remember, this game is no running and gunning but tactical so be awared !

fun
I can appreciate it for what it is for a 2003 game but it's far sub par compared to other old tactical shooters especially SWAT 4. Clunky controls, useless AI teammates with the classic 2003 era aimbot enemies AIs and the open nature of alot of maps doesn't help with that problem either. It's better to keep your rose tainted glasses on for this game rather than playing it again just for the nostalgia only to be dissapointed.
The last true Rainbow Six. Lockdown and Vegas were cool but lacked a planning phase.
If you suck at fps games this game is for u, it has aim assist, weak enemies, and if you die you become a different rainbow soldier
pretty decent ngl
great game
glitchy but fun
Despite being very old by now, can't remember playing a better tactical shooter.
The game has it's problems, though, typical for the era, as dumb AI for your squad (being massacred at chock points or while walking backwards, or just getting stuck) and your enemies (if someone sees you he runs for the alarm, but you can shoot around without a silencer, throwing grenades - no one will run for the alarm). The bright side of the enemy - the soldiers move and change positions, so if you restart a level , you might no see them where you had them before.
That being said, (and maybe because of that) the game is very challenging even on easy - after a few easy missions, you'll get hard, frustrating ones. 7/10
Great old rainbow six game, would recommend for hardcore fans of the series.
BETTER THAN R6.!!!
Great Classic, Everyone should play it.
I have played many tactical shooters and over twenty years after release, Raven Shield is still the gold standard. There are other games that do certain things better, but none feel like a complete package like RS3. The planning system, teammate switching, and atmosphere are incredible and the game was frankly ahead of its time. If you have any interest in classic games that are genuinely good and hold up, please play this.
Last true Rainbow game, Vegas games are OK but still they got nothing on R6 1 to 3.... man it is so sad looking at Siege.
~
the last real counter terrorism simulater i know of if you like slow paced swatting and CONTROL MULTIPLE TEAMS, just buy he damn game. you activate the raven shield dlc through the options menu then find custom game and youll figure it out from there.
Globalist neocon propaganda
Quite enjoyable, I grew up with the game. I'm not sure new players have enough patience though to finish the game.
its better playing this game than to light up a beer factory
new siege update looking great
classic #classic
One of a kind. Too bad Ubisoft never properly followed up
finally some good fucking food
You don't need to play this. Cool idea, played Rogue Spear alot as a kid, but they are not good games. If you don't want to lose operatives you either have to learn where each and every enemy is and take care of them yourself, or re run the sim over and over and hope you get a good run. If your spotted by a enemy you've got to go completly still and hope your crosshair focuses fast enough for you to get the shot, even using the auto aim feature I'm just not getting hits when I feel like I should, and then I get one shot by some guy using a pistol while I'm wearing heavy armor. You don't have true ironsights by the way. When you "aim" It just zooms the screen in a little like in fallout 3.
Some people might all "Oh your not playing it right, you've got to go slow and use tactics". To those people i say, fuck you, the horse you rode in on, and the hand you jerk it with. I can see WHY it was such a big deal at release but its just not fun. It feels like work. Not like im playing a game. Seriously don't bother with this one. Dude. Stop. Seriously. Don't buy it. Don't. Bro. Stop. Don't get your card out. Stop it. This is a boring bad game. Legit just isnt fun.
I have no idea how this game is considered a top tier tactical shooter. This game absolutely sucks for two very simple reasons:
1. The team AI cannot do anything tactical whatsoever. If you ask them to just clear even one room, they will die. They are worse than Ready or Not's launch AI and much worse than AI from contemporaries such as SWAT 3 and SOCOM. This makes completing mandatory objectives such as saving hostages impossible to achieve without cheese. They are pretty much only good for guarding you as you do most of the work, which makes the whole draw of the game pointless as using the two extra teams only leads to campaign deaths.
2. The gunplay is LITERALLY aimbot. The enemy has aimbot and you have aimbot. It's actually pretty tacticool for the first couple of missions as your player character enters a room and auto detects and mows down four noob enemies in the span of 1.5 seconds. Once you get to the harder missions though, and you need precision to kill enemies aiming at hostages for example or there are too many enemies on screen at once, your aimbot completely breaks and you in turn get aimbotted by cracked terrorists. Also, your aimbot isn't as good as enemy aimbot because it is still affected by movement, which seems like a pointless feature considering the emphasis on literal aimbotting.
So yeah, the game is not a legitimate tactical shooter; you have to cheese to beat the game. Subsequent R6s and contemporary shooters are better than this, so pick those up instead.
Heck ya R6 baby
Still in my opinion the greatest FPS of all time, I played both back then and getting it on pc. I used to play the PS2 adaptation with my friends and family on splitscreen. Sadly, the online servers arent around all too much anymore so I just maxxed the game and dipped but I always come back to it on PS2 for the split screen abilities.
Classic. Back when Ubisoft was good.

Great game! Tactical, fun, realistic, and decent graphics for it's time. I'd recommend it to people who like tactical shooters. You should definitely get this game if you find it on sale, I bought it for only a dollar.
going straight from swat4 elite force and wanting to find anything remotely similar. I was shocked to find that ubisoft ever put something that didn't feel overbloated or like a glorified tech demo that clearly never got enough love. This is a genuinely really cool take on the tactical shooter/ operation planning niche that swat 4 definitely borrows a lot from although improving on a couple aspects.
If you're unfamiliar, essentially a tac shooter where a bullet behaves like a bullet when coming in contact with a human body, meaning everybody dies in 2-3 shots and guns recoil and are not perfect rays to a point where you're looking. For a general loop for the game you'll get a mission and run down with some random military gibberish where basically there are terrorists and they need to be stopped (it's tom clancy there's not going to be anything interesting and if you try you'll just get weird awkward western military propaganda that's better suited to a game that needs an excuse for shooting rather than a deeper meaning such as this game). Each mission will come with a map layout and tools to plan your team paths and actions before you go in, automatically engaging each one when you start with your a.i. operatives engaging to their environment as they see fit theoretically meaning you could complete a mission without ever playing. Except you can take control of any one operative and make minor commands to interject demands in case anything comes up as well as body hop to your other cpu partners which alternatively means you don't necessarily need to plan beforehand except for the fact this game is rough and you're going to want to setup positions for your teams to collide on enemy positions so you're never at the disadvantage.
All of this is really cool and I forgot to mention how you get a list of operatives to "hire" each with stats like this is an unhinged football manager game. This is a limited list that will drain slowly if you let operatives die on each mission further incentivizing better coordination and planning.
For the drawbacks there are a couple things, mostly due to either the time this game came out or lack of development polish. Either can't really be faulted as what's here is still extremely interesting. For the most arbitrary complaint, coming from swat 4 to this is a nice transition to learning the ropes but moreso due to the fact that there is nothing that guides you for this game, you have to look at the keyboard bindings in settings and then somewhat guesstimate what half of the commands do before figuring everything out. You also will need to test run the first mission about 5-15 times figuring out how exactly to coordinate your teammates, what the advantages of each piece of gear is and how much each stat matters, fiddling with settings and a good multitude of mechanics that all should have been explained thoroughly in some manner if not just a few pointers even. Comparing this to swat 4 which nearly explains every mechanic, lets you run a few simple missions to find your ground before you might start deciding on your own to play with more complicated mechanics, this was only acceptable to me just due to how similar the games are. This isn't to mention your actual a.i.
a.i. in swat 4 is pretty bad, genuinely pretty god-awful half the time not listening to your orders beyond follow and stay liked menacing puppy dogs that leave you to clean up the mess, but this game feels worse even if it isn't necessarily worse.
Part of the problem is that the game expects you to ignore the other two teams on a mission, while you can swap bodies to guide another team. If you do this interjecting a breach and clear action of some kind your group will freeze while whatever group you left is either moving on to what they're supposed to do or holding position. You can tell everyone to freeze or go, and I think individual groups to go and hold although I never quite figured out what separates alpha bravo from red and green so I feel I'm missing something here. If you haven't cherry picked what each team does they are incapable of doing anything on their own, half the time wherever you left them will be altered with the cpu choosing to make them all face corners laying down for no reason while ai being alerted by this mysterious movement will come along and kill them making it a better option to plan for them ahead of time and just give them red light green light. Taking over to make deviations will guarantee a situation similar to this leading to team wipes. Even besides this telling your team to hold before swapping will prevent the movement, but due to the roaming investigative nature of the terrorist a.i. your unaware teammates will almost be guaranteed to be shot out in the open and fall into a crumpled mess. Sometimes if you decide to go into an armed room on your own and feel at the advantage, your ai partner will follow right behind you perfectly as to lead to the incredibly baffling situation of sometimes you and your three partners flashing and then rushing a room only to have everyone die at the same time or in close succession.
Now most of this is pretty much likely due to the nature of this game not quite figuring out how to implement a good command system which would allow for better coordination like swats camera control system so I'm sure with enough practice I can figure out how to make this jank work for me instead of the other way around and it doesn't take away from the experience instead just giving some humorous situations.
I'd firmly recommend this game if none of the problems put you off and you don't mind some aged visuals.
ALSO it's important to note that while the game has the autoaim system turned on this is entirely optional and can be disabled.
good 4h to finish
One of the greatest squad based shooting games of all time from Red Storm entertainment. RB6 3 takes the formula from the original and perfects it in every way.
make sure you look up online to download the multiplayer mod so you can log in and play on the public servers
muito bom, mas muito dificil, me estressei em algumas missões por rng dos inimigos ou ia dos aliados. a dlc é bem mais facil comparado ao jogo base
10/10 would shoot again 👌
tactical asf hard as shit sometimes, good weapon pool tho i stick to the 5.56's and the MP5's
small and cheap good graphics for 2003
get ravenshield 2.0 for best expierience
this game for when it was made has extremely good attention to detail on the guns and feels pretty smooth to play. if you like extremely hard shooters it is 100% worth trying! you'll just need to change the default controls a bit lol
It's my favorite in the serie and probably the best.
It's also the last that hasn't been messed up one way or another by Ubisoft - I'm talking to you Extraction Point
I had no idea that the console versions were a completely different game. I remember having it on Xbox but I never played it. Finally got around to playing it on PC and it is great. Definitely pick this up if it is cheap.
When Rainbow 6 was actually good
Its a fun classic
Some things about this game are great. The guns feel really satisfying to use. But the AI is terrible, your teammates are essentially useless and the enemies instantly shoot you in the head as soon as you peak around a corner even if they're 100 meters away. That coupled with the fact that once a team member gets killed they stay dead for the rest of the campaign makes the game an absolute chore to play through having to restart each mission 100 times until you've memorized every enemy position and got lucky enough to not get shot. Also the movement controls are really clunky. SWAT 4 is 10 times better in my opinion. Wish this game didn't have those flaws because if it didn't it would be one of the best shooters ever made.
Before Ubisoft ruined their franchises.
Top 5 tactical shooter today. If they made a mod that is just a modern replica of this game it would be the best tactical shooter ever. The only negative i have to say, is that leaning with your back to a wall won't let you lean, and hostage rescues on elite difficulty seem impossible. Other than that it's a really good game. Just run through on easy mode to unlock every mission for replay, then just play all the non hostage rescue maps on elite. This game, along with SWAT3/4, Ghost Recon 2001, are the best tactical shooters out there. Wish they remade these kinda of games, they're legendary.
still goated
Wish it had all the DLC. But still fun. Love playing it w/ my ps4 controller on the couch on my big TV but I wish Steam had an app for the TV so I could just stream it off the TV. Rouge Spear was my favorite game ever. But this is also fantastic. I miss these old school R6 games. Can't believe Rainbow Six 3 was 2003-2004. Its a shame we don't have these anymore. Old school R6 w/ tons & tons of maps. Gimme older graphics if you have to. Just bring this back. Its insane you can't play Rouge Spear on steam or anything really. R6 3 is great.
For an old game it is very very good. Tactical and everything
