Very good game, I like that it is a "tactical shooter" and not a classic "run and shoot".
A Mission-Packed Inter/Sequel to Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30, the gameplay, setting, cinematic play are all consistent and well done as did the first game. Another excellent WWII Tactical Shooter.

Haven't played the game yet? WHAT'RE YOU DOING!? GO PLAY THE SERIES, IT'S GREAT!
Playing this game today makes you really question the direction gaming has taken. This game has heart. It was made by people who love what they are doing , and it shows.
Outcome? Finger go boom.

Nice game..
Earned in Blood is an excellent continuation of Road to Hill 30. Gearbox increased the difficulty for this one, so don't be surprised if you die often. This is not your typical Run and Gun shooter. You're going to need to start using squad strategies to your advantage. I also recommend installing Rendroc's WarZone mod, which adds new squad commands, improved AI, and a variety of other features. Overall, I think it's a great game with an amazing story.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 was a masterpiece. It introduced console players to real-time tactics through a story lovingly inspired by HBO's Band of Brothers. It was not flawless. Enemy AI was static and enemy soldiers rarely moved from their fixed positions except during scripted sequences. Friendly AI could be janky and stupid. Grenade throwing was inaccurate and difficult to master. The cover system was so convenient that in many levels it strained believabilty that there were this many waist high, bullet proof structures to fire from in every area. The aiming system was.... dumb. In order to encourage the player to make use of his team, the aiming system was RNG based. Matt Baker, despite being a seasoned sergeant, swayed his aim all over the place, and even then, the bullets would go wherever they felt like. this led to several WTF moments and as the player would aim true and still hit nothing but air, the only exceptions being with both the sniper rifle and MG emplacements.
That said, the story and characters were engaging. You got to know and fall in love with Matt and Red and Leggett. Character deaths felt impactful. The game was also fun. Every level felt like a chess match as the player learned to memorize enemy spawns and fixed locations and exactly how to counter every threat. The game's strategy was based on the 4 Fs: Find the enemy, Fire upon the enemy, Fix the enemy in position, and Flank the enemy and destroy them. Levels were diverse and often sprawling and open, allowing the player to try many different approaches. Levels would often change weapons and different types of fire teams and eventually tanks for that fun power fantasy. Success felt earned.
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood has none of these charms. The game retains all its predecessors above flaws, adds more, and throws the engaging narrative out the window. In this one, you play as Joe 'Red' Hartsock, one of Matt's subordinates from the previous game as he recounts missions he went in in between missions he was doing with Matt. We are going to ignore the fact that this means Red wasn't resting ever as this game commits far more egregious sins than lack of story cohesion.
The previous game was criticized for having enemies never move and counters this by having enemy fire teams tethered to multiple cover positions to fire from in a given area. On paper, this must have seemed like a good idea, in reality, it makes the game more frustrating. Enemy fire teams will change position based on the players position, meaning that flanking is usually impossible. If they see you moving to their flank, they will move to counter you and ignore the fire they are receiving from your fire teams (whose accuracy is even worse than the previous' games) The solution is to try to shoot them as they are moving (with the aforementioned RNG based aiming) or just accept damage as you fire on them as they are exposed.
Even worse, the game throws far more enemy teams at you than before and you are almost always outnumbered. This was true in the previous iteration, however the fact that enemies remained fixed to a location meant that the player could still flank enemy teams once suppressed. In this game, moving to an enemy's flank will usually result in the player simply running into another fire team behind the suppressed one that is also firing at him from a fixed position. The best option is to once again fire back with the games awful shooting mechanics and hope you don't get hit.
Worse, suppression is now a thing of the past. Your team may tell you an enemy is suppressed (meaning they are taking cover and unable to fire back) but this is a lie. In the previous game, a suppressed enemy would only fire back if the player got close their position. In this game, a 'suppressed' enemy will move from cover to cover and fire back as though nothing has changed. Once again, the only option is to fire back with the games poor shooting mechanics and hope for the best.
Combine this with the fact that sniper rifle fire is now also RNG based (except when the game doesn't want it to be) and linear level design and what you have is a game that feels like a chore. It feels like you are spinning a Roulette wheel. There are rarely branching paths to victory or those great side paths that put you behind an enemy from the original. Cover can be sparse (and in one level so far, almost completely nonexistent meaning you and your team WILL be shot as you try to find cover right from the start of the level) or inadequate (no longer waist high, meaning it is simply a matter of time before your team is shot)
The first level in which you can control a tank (which is always meant to be fun power fantasy) is a disaster. ALL enemy fire teams have panzerfausts so your job is to babysit your armor. There is no option to tell your tank to back up so if he is caught out in the open and you need him to move, he will spend large amounts of time turning around. Worse, the enemy will happily turn their explosives on your infantry and losing your whole team to one rocket is possible.
This is not a fun game. It screams "Randy Pitchford told us to finish quickly". The only positive I can give it is that your squads can reload your American ammo. Avoid this game. It won't fill you with nostalgia. It will remind you that some of the quality of life improvements modern games have given us were for a reason, and this is coming from a guy who hates modern video games.
first time play brothers in arms after many years of wanting to play it i really like the tactical aspect of it even though its an old really gets you too think i make the right moves for a game that has been out for awhile it really stands against the times would recommend anyone who loves a good story line and squad based action to try this game out.
its pretty good, still no punch hitler though.
Great game.
God damn this game is good.

A slight improvement to Road To Hill 30. Story is told better and more interesting, we get to see more characters interact too. Missions are better designed and there's a gradual adjustment in difficulty unlike in the first game where it suddenly got really hard near the end. Its still janky and a bit dated but its still worth playing. Especially if you like tactical shooters. 7/10
Not a fan, really dislike the whole squad command thing. The way it's set up, it's too awkward and clumsy, for me.
