pretty fun, but buggy as well and movement is a bit janky, so the fun factor gets chipped away. as i try for 100%, i feel like the game is buggy with drops. and the organ shots are more of dice rolls than accuracy shots

this is THE sniper elite game. the best one. dont bother buy sniper elite 5 or whatever that other new one is. resistance, or something.

Without a doubt, the best Sniper Elite game to exist. Yes, it's better than 5 imo. The authentic+ difficulty is great, the achievements are fun, I love the map designs, especially Giovi Fiorini Mansion which is my all time favorite. Oh and Regilino Viaduct which I also really enjoy.

Sound was completely broken for me, with 90% of audio effects being only in my left ear, which sort of ruined the entire experience. But the rest of the game is not really good enough to bother troubleshooting the audio issues when you can just play SE5 or SE resistance instead

One of the standout features is the X-ray kill cam, which makes every well-placed shot feel satisfying as it shows bullets tearing through bones and organs in brutal detail. However, the game is not just about sniping; stealth and environmental kills play a major role. Setting traps, using distractions, and silently taking down enemies are just as important as lining up the perfect shot.
While the AI can sometimes feel predictable, the game still offers a solid challenge, especially on higher difficulties. The co-op and multiplayer modes add even more replay value, making it enjoyable with friends. The story is not groundbreaking, but it serves its purpose well enough. Overall, Sniper Elite 4 is a fantastic tactical shooter that delivers a satisfying sniping experience and a well-designed open-ended gameplay structure.
If more than 2 soldiers discovers me and can't kill them quickly, I scream at home and shut down the game with ALT + F4, after a while come back to play again until someone discovers me again or my heartbeat accelerates until I get uncomfortably stressed.
The game is fun but very repetitive.

Absolutely worth playing
For stealth players, this is likely the best (and most stable) of the Sniper Elite series so far, IF you want to challenges from easy to veteran (authentic+) difficulty. This game has it all. Plus you can usually get it for a very low price(if you look around), including its season pass.
For anyone wanting to get a good start in the series, this is best way. It's the most well made and it's easily the least expensive of the recent entries, while still having a fine presentation and all the gameplay perks.
So far this is one of my favorite games. It's pretty much like Sniper Elite 3 except much bigger environments. You have so much freedom and open terrain allowing you a lot of choices on how you will carry out your objectives. The game gives you options so you can play the game the way you want. If you don't have patience and want to just go in Rambo style you can set the game to a low difficulty setting but on the highest difficulty setting you need to take a slower more stealthy approach.
The Ultimate Sniper Experience
I've played a lot of sniper games, but Sniper Elite 4 nails the feeling like no other. The Authentic difficulty is next-level—no HUD, no aim assist, just you, your rifle, and the battlefield. Every shot feels earned, every mission requires patience, and the immersion is incredible.
The open-ended level design lets you approach objectives your way, and the ballistics system makes long-range kills insanely satisfying. Plus, those X-ray kill cams? Never get old.
This series keeps getting better, and I want more.
If you're into tactical shooters, stealth, or just the pure joy of lining up the perfect shot, Sniper Elite 4 is a must-play.

Feels like a combination playing hide and seek and being agent 47 from the Hit-man series, but with explosions and a slow-motion X-ray cam for extra flair. You’ll spend hours perched on rooftops, feeling like a silent assassin ...until you miss a shot and alert every enemy within a mile radius.
It's a good Sniper Elite game.
It's got excellent gunplay, good level designs, good weapon selection and decent stealth.
BUT, the big issue is the wind in this game which for most people will not be a problem as you have the aim assist when you hold your breath while in the sniper scope. However, you don't get the aim assist if you're on Authentic / Authentic + difficulty modes and because the wind in this game is buggered, it makes landing shots in authentic + even from 50m away a very hard task depending on the map. It is made doubly hard by the fact you can hardly see your tracer and that every enemy has laser accuracy in Authentic. It makes the experience extremely hard and tedious.
But, if you play coop the game has a chance of shitting itself so it gives you infinite consumables which somewhat make up for the buggy and unrealistic wind.

Excellent single player game worth the price when on sale.
Hours of FPS game play and allows multiple strategies. I played through twice. The first time, I was stealthy, using melee and silenced pistols to take down enemies, doing my best not to be seen or set off alarms. The second time, I stood off at 100m+ and blasted away with a sniper rifle. So, I was spotted -- whatever. Breakout the Tommy gun and spray away. Great fun both ways.
Some objectives have multiple options. For instance, blowing up a control room or blowing up the device the room controls. (Sniper Elite 5 had this too. )
It's one thing to watch a YouTuber play this game and it's another to play it. For a long time, I didn't play this game because I'd already seen a bunch of YouTubers play it but I was instantly hooked by the open world and guerrilla tactics. I'm now hooked on this series.
There's nothing like booby-trapping all the corners and entrances to a building that you're hiding in. I liked this game so much, I made sure to do all of the side missions. It was definitely a fun time.

Of any game I have ever played as a sniper, this is my #1 favorite, even over all other Sniper Elite games.
Patience and stalking. 288.2 Hours into this game and it clearly passes the cost-benefit test. Any game where you play so many hours that you paid less than $1 an hour is a great game. Buy it. You will not regret it!
A fun yet difficult challenge of a game where you can be just a ghost sniper or a one man army. Now me personally I enjoy being a sniper in shooter games and this was my cup of tea, the wepons were also great M1 grand (even though it was dlc) and the Luger (unfortunatley also dlc) just great weapons to use so much fun.

If you can get it for a reasonable price, do yourself the favour.
And don't sweat it, if you're not the best shot or anything, the difficulties are really flexible.
a game that can be quite fun to play. I got to shoot Hitler in the balls. the controls are fine, though they could be better. in comparison, MGSVPP controls are much more responsive so when it comes to shooters, MGSVPP has this game beat. Like for example, in SE4, the camera is harder to move while you are sprinting and you have to stop sprinting to get full control of the camera. the settings too could be better, like it has no option for DLSS/FSR because it's an older game. i think the devs made good design choices with these Sniper Elite games. i enjoy the artistic and visual design overall. it's a game with realistic graphics, but does not focus too much on photorealism, which is not a bad thing because that would tank FPS. basically, in terms of optimization, this game is alright.

its's not bad really great experience ngl. the slowmo shoots are really cool but after a certain amount of time they going to feel really long. story is kind a long and little boring over the period of time. other then that it's really nice ! maybe going to try the 5 too
Still so much fun after all of these years. I played this on console and bought it on Steam for PC. I will never go back to console. Beautiful game. Challenging enemies and environments. Well worth the money spent.
Good game and solid entry in the Sniper Elite series. Gameplay lives up to standard of previous sniper elite games and fun to play, fans and newcomers alike will enjoy it.
It has great mechanics, even though I dont like the overall movement and patient, sneaky sniper experience. Also, it feels too repetitive. The rest is better, with great animations/bullet cam and graphics.
I didnt plan to play that much to care about storytelling parts and I dont think its the main thing of this series, so I skipped them. Still, its a good game with a 90% discount.
This game is very enjoyable but can be frustrating at times. I'm not currently a huge fan of the mechanic where you have a wheel to select items and then a key to activate the selected item as it feels like a double interaction to get where you're going, though it's something I could probably get used to.
It's not entirely realistic, but probably walks the line between realism and play-ability as competently as any other game of the genre.
The commentary can be amusing but a bit repetitive. The comments after they give up looking for you totally break immersion at times (The kind of commentary that Viva la Dirt League love to satire.)
In conclusion, it's not a sniper simulator, but it's an enjoyable arcade game if you enjoy the idea of being a sniper.
I bought this and Elite 5 in a sale, played this first and then returned to it after playing 5, great game, it's 90% of the titles which follow for a lot less money, in some ways this game is better than the later one. New to this type of game but really got into it, played 'easy' at first and now on much harder difficulty, really enjoying it. Plays beautifully on my PC, a really well crafted and coded game, great details. Recommended.

Oh boy, I've been playing Sniper Elite since Sniper Elite V2, so is Sniper Elite 4 any good? No Sniper Elite 4 is buggy the animations are all over the place and the story is in abomination it is a fictional story about a sniper going into Italy to help a militia organization, the story is told in pieces you meet a woman who is a female soldier that wants to be taken seriously and acts like she's a strong independent woman but most of the time she's an overly emotional woman who ends up getting her entire unit killed all because of her father who she thinks is actually alive, then on top of this the villain of the game is a cartoon character villain not to mention everything in this game is fiction except for a couple minor things here and there, the animations in this game are absolute garbage and I mean garbage I maxed the game at full power running on a very expensive computer. I have more than enough power to play this game, and it's a mess. Graphics aside, sounds are about normal for Sniper Elite, but the x-ray is probably the worst it's ever been. The AI of the enemy characters is just crap. The layout of the world has no iconic aspect to any of it so when you go into a mission and you finish it you don't have any reason to go back to that mission or that area to do anything else there because what is the point, because of this the world is just very Bland it is so Bland so basic that it's simply boring really this is Italy a lot of open space pretty much what they do is they drop you into a big open area give you tasks to complete and you can complete them any way you see fit, but they don't give you enough tasks to play the game as a purely stealth sniper that is impossible in this game you are not simply a sniper you are a mid to long range call of Duty Soldier and it's very very obvious. On top of this, you are made of cardboard, so it doesn't get very interesting. The game adds RPG elements, but none of the RPG elements are that interesting. I use the exact same shotgun pistol and rifle the entire game in order to unlock certain perks on the rifle and weapons in general and I don't know if the system was bugged or what but every time I unlocked a perk for my rifle it never got applied it was always for a different sniper rifle and not the one I was using, on top of this the game itself just has a lot of problems to see a game with this much open world but the world just feels so boring and lifeless I shouldn't be feeling bored I should be engaged on top of this i'm sorry but the villain is so cartoonish and the way the game ends is so lazy it's like the old saying you have no good writing no good story so you know what we're going to do we're just going to start killing characters off in the hopes that the drama will compel the people to stay it's called lazy writing plus you make the National Socialist literally out to be satanists, the cartoon villainy on display is just dumb pure stupidity. Sniper Elite 3 had its fair share of problems, but it was, in my opinion, more pure to the legacy of Sniper Elite 2 than Sniper Elite 4. I give Sniper Elite Four a two out of five. It's a big disappointment. On top of this, I tried to get into a multiplayer match, and nobody is playing this game online. It is dead. Sad, really. I actually wanted to play, but I'm starting Sniper Elite 5, so let's hope it's better than this train wreck of a Call of Duty clone.
Before buying this game I made a quick research to find out what the "best" SE game is and this entry was always listed at the top. This is really good. It's immersive and you don't ever feel bored... But I didn't like the difficulty system in this game. I started playing on Authentic Hardcore difficulty because I knew the other ones would be too easy. Well was that a mistake?! No, it wasn't too hard... The thing is, on high difficulties the game completely removes the HUD and other interface friendly things, like objective markers on the map telling you where stuff is. Well that's crap cuz i'm a new player... I wanna see where these things are (I was averaging 1h30m per map)... By this logic, the game wants me to play on a difficulty where everything is easy for that matter. Hell no....... Would the Custom Difficulty thingy fix this? Sure but that disables some achievements and a couple other things. I also didn't like how they place some areas on the maps and when you go there you get the classic "you can't go here". I already couldn't tell where I was on the map because I had no markers and when I found a peculiar area I was forced to come back because it was restricted... Meh. Anyway, this is awesome and you should buy it.

The ultimate sniper sandbox experience.
First time playing a Sniper Elite game, and after the first hour, I was ready to leave a negative review, but I kept playing. With each mission, I found new ways to approach combat through my own experimentation. Slowly, the gameplay clicked, and I fell in love with it. That is Rebellion's secret sauce here, classic shooter gameplay that also accommodates every player's approach to combat, with open maps that let you experiment to your heart's content. As a downside, the game can be easy, so you might want to play on Hard difficulty. It goes on sale for 90% off too often to recommend at full price. Worth at a discount.
Respectable story, really good mechanics, super cool co-op. This series is on top the place. Me as an IGI player (Yes I am ancient.), it feels really good to get something like the OGs. It's super fun alone and it's super fun with friends. I have played Sniper Elite 3 earlier from Epic, Sniper Elite 4 here and I will be playing sniper Elite 5 from Game Pass Xbox. This franchise is really really good, do give it a try.
The game is very good fun to play. The story mods are also good, the only problem is that that there are only 6 stories on the game.
Whoever expects any kind of deep story should not delve into this game. Personally, I feel this game is tailored for stealth genre lovers, and one must have great patience to complete each and every mission.
The total duration to beat the game is around 8 - 9 hours if you focus only on the main objectives, ignoring all the optional secondary objectives in a mission.
In my case, I spent 1 - 2 hours on each mission, playing very stealthily, distracting guards, performing silent takedowns, and being completely cautious. This approach made me enjoy the game even more.
To conclude, I would recommend everyone try this game at least once to experience how well the stealth mechanics are implemented and how engaging the gameplay is. While you can adopt an aggressive approach, the mission design is crafted perfectly to encourage thoughtful, strategic play.
Only played the campaign but enjoyed it! Can definitely see the comparisons with Hitman.
