Sniper Elite has never been a standout series, but has always been just good simple fun. I'm not sure what it is about 4, but it just misses the mark.
Nice game of cat and mouse. Silent kills, explosive chaos and some forgiving run and gun action. On normal difuculty the aim assist lets you make epic shots.
Probably a good speed run game.
The Sniper Elite games are all great in their own ways. I enjoy these games more than you r typical run and gun shooter. I like creating a strategy and completing things in numbers of different ways. You truly feel alone on the battlefield and have nothing to rely on other than your wit and skill. I recommend this game to any person who loves strategy and precision.

I had such a blast on Sniper Elite 4. Nothing can beat shooting a guy in his nuts and seeing an x-ray of them pop. It was a really fun game. The mechanics in this game in my opinion were beautiful- from all the different weapons, to the throwables, to all the different approaches and things around the map you could use to your advantage when trying to take out soldiers and complete objectives. I honestly had a blast. This game heavily reminds me of Hitman in the way where each mission is like a level and you have many different ways you can approach and complete the mission. It's a great stealth game where primarily you want to be stealthy and smart; but still leaves the door open to go guns blazing. I enjoyed taking my time through every mission, marking and scoping everything out before starting to drop soldiers like flies. I love the WWII setting and theme to the game, it adds realism and some authenticity to the game. As for the story- it is terrible in my opinion. Very bad and they do not focus on the story one bit, mainly on the gameplay. I wish the story was more interesting, there was a lot of potential especially in the WWII setting. The controls were smooth
and great, and graphics were also really good. I have a mid-range PC and was able to run this game at max setting with around 90 FPS (unheard of for me!) so its very well optimized. The AI and enemies are designed well, but they aren't insanely smart. Sometimes they can be very funny. I would say Sniper Elite 4 has a slight learning curve, but it's nothing too insane, and the controls are easy to adjust to. Overall I really enjoyed my experience with Sniper Elite 4 and definitely plan on playing more games in the franchise. Would recommend to anyone to buy it on sale because it could be dirt cheap for a blast.

First sniping game I played, it was quite fun (but NPCs quite dum). Runs 60 FPS on 10w Steam Deck, drops to 45ish in 3rd and 4th missions.
Tip : Disable aim assist for a better experience
Despite the claim of being a multi-player game. There's no co-op online lobby
Cool game for sniper lovers and filthy campers. Main goal: Killing Nazis. If that doesn't get you on board, nothing else will. It's a win for me.

Excelente jogo, focado em gameplay de franco atirador. Being old and slow, I favor a close second, the ability to set difficulty at a level I can learn the game but still enjoy the action provided at that level.
I'd say this one is great. Being a big fan of Sniper Elite series, I can tell you that you just need to wait until like the middle of campaign until you actually start appreciate this game. At some point, I noticed that I simply cannot stop playing Sniper Elite 4 Campaign. It runs well on Steam Deck despite the fact that it was released years prior to SD. Highly recommended.

Better than Sniper Elite 5.
With gameplay that can shock, amuse and satisfy in the same slowed heartbeat, Sniper Elite 4 is the best game in the series. While it graphics, story and characters can feel a little flat, the gameplay has always been the focus, and is so perfectly tuned to make the rest seem inconsequential.
+ Scalable difficulty - for expert marksman or those who just want a fun FPS with a twist
+ Large maps, plenty to do and experiment
- while I understand for gameplay reasons, having enemies not react to some nearby gunfire felt weird
+ game runs smoothly
Parental guide: graphic violence, especially killcam (both rifle and melee) which can be disabled. Can't remember any profanity.
This should be a really fun game. I'm a big fan of the series, and the non-linear, open-world style of the missions in this iteration are great.
Unfortunately, the various bugs (most notably the generator bug) which seems to have existed since launch and has never been resolved take a huge amount of fun from the game, and replaces it with frustration.
Man... the things i did to Hitler in the previous games...

Greatly recommend. This series is one of the best single player game focused on snipping right now at least.
The game feels more "open" than the previous sniper elite games (SE V2 and SE3 in my experience) in both how you approach encounters and map objectives. The maps don't allow for a lot of snipping especially long ranges (at least without attracting attention) like SE3 did.
So now you end up utilizing more of the games mechanics like your secondary and traps. Snipping is still on the table (It has been greatly improved from the earlier entries), just a lot more risky especially with the game's bigger emphasis on stealth (stealth has been improved but don't have high expectations of it) and how enemies can now hit you a lot harder and at greater distances especially on higher difficulties. But just use every tool in your arsenal and you'll more than likely come out on top.
Overall a massive improvement to gameplay compared to the "Sniper-happy" feel of the previous games. The only thing i dislike about the game is that it still has Denuvo even after the game has been cracked and is no longer receiving updates (Latest was on Aug 2017) so we'll be experiencing worse performance and potentially the inability to play during a Denuvo server outage
Mediocre with it's game engine. Numerous small problems that plague the game to this day like not detecting USB/Bluetooth headsets for binural audio and crashing when alt/tabbing out of it. Kind of sad, rebellion sucks at making a good game.
Thank God they made nearly 80$ worth of DLC for this game through the years and IGNORED ALL OF THE BUGS PLAGUING THE GAME DURING THAT TIME, what a great company...
It's interesting, but not worth the money.
Nothing about the game is really remarkable. It doesn't bring anything new to the table, the missions are forgetable, and the gameplay is 'meh'.
Buy it on sale and enjoy your time. Don't pay full price for it. It's not worth it.
Since I've not played SE5, I can't say if its better than that game. But as it stands, SE4 is really good even if the story is a bit cheesy at times. There are also minor bugs that occur and the AI is sometimes more artificial than intelligent, but overall this is a really fun game. Especially in multiplayer.
Whiched amount of fun to play! First found it when Jacksepticeye played it many years ago. Absolutly fun to mess around in and kill lots of Nazi's. Love single player action this one is for you a good pick up for any gamer.

Get this game on a sale if you need some stress releif, Relatively fun and casual there's fun to be had I'm sure in Multiplayer if the servers were still active so I cannot recommend at full price.
Soft Recommend, it feels like a Hitman Clone. I spent more missions using the Welrod than the sniper, which is odd considering the game is Sniper Elite.
There are no global or useful sound masks in the majority of missions, meaning if you want to use your rifle you will alert the entire map. Suppressed ammo is also not that useful as it causes a large reduction in bullet velocity, scaling with difficulty to the point where most players just recommend you play without it.
The addition of a global sound mask, like in the first mission, on every mission would make your rifle an actual viable option, meaning you can be a sniper in the sniper elite game instead of hitman but not as good.

I like solitaire games. Sort of like watching TV with a bit of killing in meantime. I have played Sniper Elite 1,2,3, now 4, and 5. Great series great stress relief. The better the Hardware the better the experience. I thought my machine was fine. 4 cores, 16 GB RAM, moderate Video card. Upgraded to 24 core, 64 GB, and NVidia GeForce RTX-4707. Wow, day and night . Game is better yet.

Instead I got a game where I feel like super soldier master chief trashing braindead AI with fortnite combat system. (ON HARDEST DIFFICULTY)

This game is a very weak link compared to games 3 and 5 of the series. It feels as though the enemy hitregister is inconsistent, the walking and crouch-walking pace are incredibly slow, and the detection range on rifles is unclear and ridiculously far, even when using the silenced carbine.
If you plan on buying this installment to the franchise, do yourself a favor and buy Sniper Elite 5 instead. The next game has improved everything in every way, and the new features and game modes FAR outmatch the 4th installment.
Fun and challenging that offers loads of replayability and a setting not usually covered in media.
It does what it sets out to do really well, though it can get repetitive to stick with what works best for the whole game. It's got a lot more in common with dishonored than COD.

After thoroughly enjoying Sniper Elite 3, Sniper Elite 4 took everything I loved about the series and dialed it up to 11. The first thing you’ll notice is how much bigger and more complex the maps are. The open-ended level design allows for multiple approaches and endless replayability, giving you the freedom to tackle missions in whichever way you prefer—whether that’s stealthily sneaking past enemies or sniping them from a distance in true marksman style. The larger maps offer a ton of variety, with each location feeling fresh and detailed.
Visually, the game is stunning. The graphics are a step up from Sniper Elite 3, making each environment immersive and atmospheric. The attention to detail is phenomenal, and the way the game captures lighting and environmental effects is something else.
Enemy AI has also been improved, and the intensity of their fire is brutal and realistic. One wrong move, and they’ll punish you for it. The challenge keeps you on your toes, forcing you to strategize carefully. The enemy behavior is much more unpredictable, making the game feel more dynamic and engaging.
Overall, Sniper Elite 4 is a fantastic sequel that builds on everything the previous games did right. If you’re a fan of tactical sniping and open-ended gameplay, this is a must-play. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next!

Sniper Elite. It is everything you expect and then some. Love it. 10/10 would buy again.
Good fun in co-op. Entire campaign including DLC takes about 10 hours to complete. Better than its successor SE5, imo
While I've played the series since V2 and have an embarrassing number of hours in SE5, SE4 is my favorite of the series. More options on how to play the levels than other games, better mechanics that make stealth the best option (whereas 5 almost encourages the run n' gun players to go full murder hobo). Different equipment actually effects your play style rather being mostly cosmetic, different approaches to the missions actually play out differently (yeah. Didn't know completing one objective early could fail the mission. Oops.)
My feeling is that SE4 is the most well-rounded of the list so far while being mature enough from a gameplay standpoint that it doesn't feel outdated (like SE or SE:V2 do now) or boxed in like SE5.
Overall, buy it on sale, play it like Hitman in full WWII larp gear, and you'll have a good time.
Oh, and it runs perfectly locked at 40fps on the Deck. Nazi killin' goodness on the go.
good but all of the weapons are the same, and the repeating in every mission, but its not bad still better than starfilde.
Had a bit of trouble getting it started, but used the DirectX 11 startup option and it works great. Same Sniper Elite greatness as 2 and 3, including the x-ray cam. Fantastic game and well worth your time.
Awesome game, good mechanic, good graphic, good story mode :)
