I've no issue with games that require long-term thinking and management, especially offline, but the way that Virtual Villagers: A New Home currently stands makes the experience unbearable and mind-numbing. For a game that requires some micro-managing, using any keyboard shortcuts that minimize the game's window causes there to be a display error which is generally temporary but there have been instances where it remains even when the game is closed. Unlike other Last Day of Work products, this game does not have a functioning pause button for players who are not in a position to play every day, so consider this product to perpetually be running irrespective of what game speed players last left the game on before closing it. In all, the product is nearing its two-decade mark and it is quite unsuitable to allow it to be sold for $10 seeing that it has not aged well technically or mechanically; Consider any other of Last Day of Work's products other than Virtual Villagers: A New Home.
I liked the mystery behind the game.
It's nostalgic and I loved this game as a kid, but there's a lot of bugs, and the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive, stale, and worse, pointless. If you get to a certain point, even well before the final puzzle, there's just no point playing anymore because there's little you need to or CAN manually do, and it becomes a waiting game. If this was in a bundle with a few other games for $9.99, or you have a lot of extra cash to blow on games without much to do in them, it might be worth it, but I'd really advise you to wait for this game to go on sale unless it was a huge part of your childhood.
I love this game! I grew up playing Virtual Villagers 3, so this is very nostalgic for me.
I love the puzzles, the building and survival aspects of this game!
Great puzzles to tease your brain along with time and character management. I've played this before it was on Steam, great game overall.
This is the best game I've played in my life. Red dead? NO. FNAF? NO. God of War? NO. Elden Ring? NO. None of these FAKE LOSER GARBAGE GAMES can even hold a CANDLE to the shining star that is Virtual Villagers: A New Hope. For starters, the visuals are perfect. They leave just enough to the interpretation of the viewer while still evoking a nostalgic feeling deep within your soul. The audio is delightful. I often say "hey" in the cadence of my villagers in day-to-day life. The lore runs so deep, Dark Souls has NOTHIN on this. I cannot recommend this game enough. It is truly the most perfect idle game EVER. Also, there is no language filter on your villagers names so you can have a bald 9-year-old named "COSTCO" or "WALMART" and no one bats an eye. Truly ethereal.
Good old, classic Virtual Villagers. Nostalgia attack.
A good, fun, simple game that plays itself most of the time.
I played this series of games when they were first released a long time ago. I recently saw the game mentioned and I remembered how much I had enjoyed playing them. Now I am enjoying them all over again.
Played a lot when I was younger! Good thing to pass the time and good nostalgia for me! :)
its a good old school game
fun and relaxing
Simple but enjoyable! I know it's kinda old bc my mom played this game haha~ but I wish there was more to do in the meantime of the goals for science points. I know there are more of these games that were made more recently, perhaps I'll take a look with some gameplay, and if I want to play :?
I grew up playing this with my grandma and I find it cozy. 💚
This one brings back memories. A game that runs even if you shut it off, the tiny people you have to take care of keep on living, without you, if you forget about them, they will all inevitably die, but you can just start again, no?
What a blast from the past. Loving the trend of bringing older games back to life. The game is smooth and glitch free, and it plays like it always has.
I've played this game since I was a kid. It's one of my favorites simply for how simple it is. You can have this game running in the background while you're watching a movie, and as long as you check in every couple hours, you'r villagers will be okay. All this game requires is patience.
*Spoilers* It took me a little over 160 hrs to get the boulder removed, which is better than my kid self used to do lol.
If you think you might enjoy this village sim game, then give it a go.
this is ur classic vurtial villagers 1 its great and i havent played it in years and i was lucky to find it on steam since it was taken off the console years ago and put on the pc and its still a great game ofc the company that made these games have great games anyway
I bought this because I used to pirate this game when I was young and poor. It was one of many games that I missed from time to time because I spent so many hours playing them with my dying computer. One of the small joys I had during the toughest times as student. It might not be the best game ever or anything, but it certainly is something that I hold dearly in my heart.
