a great expansion for a great game, sadly Ghost recon now a days is only a shell of it's former self
The game is quite short compared to the original but it is still Ghost Recon. So you are pretty much getting a solid tactical shooter with good level design. But for the life of me I cannot understand how they managed to create a final level (Level 8) that makes no sense in such a game.
You get a timer and have to sprint to finish the game where basically one bullet killes your soldier.
Somebody tried making an Action movie segment in this game... Just makes no sense.
The story is more of the same cringe "Freedumb and Democrazy" propaganda that Tom Clancy is known for. Already talked about that in Ghost Recon Review.
It is good, but just get the base game since I don't really think this one is worth it unless you are a huge fan of the originals gameplay.
Wouldn't say the level design is as good as in the base game. Many levels can be easily cleared with single sniper especially if you mod the game to remove fog. Also last mission has probably wrong timing since to clear it one needs to disregard all instructions beeline to the ridge overseeing the bridge and destroy the tanks as fast as possible.
Still if you liked original campain you will like this one too. Just wait for sale 5 buck for 20 year old dlc with some 4 hours of content is too much.
More of the original Ghost Recon is always appreciated. As before, the story is inconsequential. However, the gameplay did feel a bit improved. The pathing problems which were very prevalent in the first game are only encountered if we are in a narrow region of sorts, or are blocked by random obstacles, the pseudo-aimbot issue where enemies seem to be able to shoot through literal rocks is virtually non-existent, while missions feel more compact with more action than empty-area traversal.
However, the mission length can sometimes be too short, which is even more apparent due to the less amount of missions this game has. I understand that the compactness can lead to shorter missions, but some more objectives could've been added. I also felt that there was a major reliance on visual obstructions and weird enemy placements for shock deaths that made for a less fluid gameplay. But my gripes aren't major in the slightest. It is still more Ghost Recon, and for anyone who wants more of that - this will scratch that itch rather satisfactorily.
