Really fun to play only issues is that controller support is jank and doesn't work for me and the audio is a bit meh and kills my ears when a character talks through the radio but other then that 9/10 would recommend

Tom Clancy has made a lot of games through the years that have been most enjoyed with friends, and preferred campaigns. With an enjoyable plot, immersive game mechanics to encourage appropriate calls and load outs for the upcoming events. I found Rainbow Six Vegas to take my heart in a classic hostage/terrorist scenario. However, what makes this game enjoyable, also acts like a double edged sword. punishing inappropriate leadership harshly, forcing you to adapt to the movements of the terrorists and take your time to make an advance in the story. To enjoy this game, take your time, analyze, and listen and control your bravo team as you fight back and regain peace in Las Vegas.

This and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 were my childhood. As usual ubisoft has problems with their product. However surprisingly, I recently reset my computer for another game not work to try and fix it, which worked. And then i saw this in my library ad was like maybe, just maybe it will work now too. Low and behold download and opened and worked i was grinning ear to ear. This game graphics wise may not stand up to the test of time, but this is back when games were fully finished on release. with some work around you can play this coop and t-hunt with a friend thru parsec or another vpn like program. 10/10 memories and fun still there. Not sure if ubisoft relased an update or anything fixing this but im so happy to be able to play thru one of my favorite childhood xbox games.

this game is so much fun, first mission all the guns are unlocked, you don't have a battle pass and bs microtransactions. you get a complete game. would highly recommend!

The game is 19 years old and still holds up well and is ridiculously fun to play. When this game originally released, it was easily my most played game for the better part of a year. Its a shame the multiplayer has been disconnected but the campaign and T-Hunt are still playable. The campaign still holds up well in story, game play and even the graphics aren't all that bad. Ubisoft needs to go back to making this style Rainbow six game. An excellent blast from the past

Great game

Despite Ubisoft adding anticheat over a decade after release, and modern computer architecture causing issues with diagonal surfaces, the game is still a blast. Pick it up on a deep discount.

Personally had a little better experience with Vegas 1 than Vegas 2. Especially as the friendly AI was much more useful and got stucked on geometry only twice during whole campaign - much better than in Vegas 1. Still its far from perfect and if one wants to have the area properly cleared it is neccesarry to command them only few meters at a time. Enemy spawns were also much more sensible, with exception of dam level (I had to look up guide only to find that there is enemy spawn right behind teammate doing hacking}.

Environment variety is probably slightly worse than in Vegas 2. Las Vegas is boring enough to set one game in it. Making two is just a quick cashgrab with recycled assets. Combined with 2000s muddy filter every city level looks the same. Level design is passable - there are few chokepoints where going in first is absolute deathtrap and one might as well reload if both friendlies got knocked out.

Gunplay is good, sometimes cover is little broken but in most cases it all works fine. Minor gripe is completely unmanageable full auto - strong recoil combined with strong flash makes it applicable only on point blank - quite unrealistic as the protagonist should be skilled enough to handle them. Than again suppresive fire is not a thing here so there aren't much usecases for it anyway. Difficulty is generally quite balanced - even playable on an controller (tough gyro aiming is must).

Story is there probably. Its evil terrorist doing evil things like having big bombs or hostages. It's there only as a set dressing and it shows.

Overall I would recommend Vegas 1 over Vegas 2. There is just so much less bs, largely thanks to much more useful friendlies. It was an interesting experiment trying to bring R6 into a modern era. If you like "tactical shooters" give it a try.

great game worth the price.

It's a decent game for a 2006 game, great plot, keeps you engaged with different locations, equipment and scenarios and the ability to make choices that's best for you and your team. I wish people played the multiplayer aspect of the game but the game is still with just the story alone.

The gameplay is tactical shooting, where u will be accompanied by two (2) allies. This game has the First-Person View and Third-Person View, which makes this game dynamic in terms of gunfight, What I love about this game is they have the THERMAL VISION, which for me looks surreal, although the night vision could gone better but thats the limit of UE3, COD2019 still has the best night vision due to modern tech. Wonder if we get another tom clancy vegas? Hmm. The enemy AI got hands i tell u, (im playing on realistic difficulty) if u played Far Cry 1 u will know. The rope climbing is dope, we can see that now in R6 Siege. Missions are okay. Giving orders to your ally is a great mechanics but no no if u want to stay stealth and hidden bcs they dont crouch.

Cant speak much for the audio especially for the gun SFX but i can tell u if u were fighting enemies there will be a soundtrack just for that. Consider it as an indicator if there still enemies around bcs the song will stop once all cleared. One bad thing about this there is no subtitles to toggle on.

This is made by Ubisoft so I warn against buying it because who knows they might decide to delete this from your library one day if they feel like it since we are supposed to "get comfortable with not owning" our games

Erdal Kaya Simulator: Origins

You probably know already that "Rainbow Six" was originally a novel written by Tom Clancy. And even that it wasn't Ubisoft who created Tom Clancy's brand or first Rainbow Six game, it was them who started making true AAA Tom Clancy's games targeted for mainstream audience. And so, if we speak about Rainbow Six Vegas dilogy in particular, both those games were true hits back in 2000s - they kept tactical gameplay of previous Rainbow Six games and brought everything else on true AAA level. They also worked on the setting turning what's happening on screen to look like a big-budget blockbuster movie and I mean it is a compliment. But what's also very important, it's that all Tom Clancy's games of Ubisoft of that time were still made in technotriller genre with semi-realistic artdirection. This is very different from what Rainbow Six series are now. So, if you want to experience "true Rainbow Six", playing Vegas dilogy would be your best take. Yes, those both games are old but what was released before them is even older, obviously. The only thing is that while second Vegas game looks and plays pretty good even by today standards, first Rainbow Six Vegas is not that good in some gameplay aspects (for example, checkpoints are placed just terrible) and it also aged in terms of graphics (but Vegas still looks good at night here). Still, I did advise you to just grab both these games on sale and to play their campaigns at least once - it will be worth it.

A simple and short shooter, using the slower pace of the Tom Clancy series of games and inspired by the grandeur of games such as Call of Duty. Gunplay feels punchy, enemies feel aggressive, and the campaign is best played in co-op away from the rather bland AI team. Not much else to say.

Its a good tactical shooter with a more mainstream appeal, more simplified approach to rainbow six franchise's core game-play with a solid 2 part campaign(Vegas and Vegas 2), plus terror hunt is still a banger to play on LAN.

8/10. The game can run on almost anything because it is from 2009. Good gameplay and mechanics. It has also really nice animations for breaching. There isnt much story into it. Its basically you need to stop the terrosists. I really like the levels and Vegas is really beautiful in the night. But there were really obnoxious bugs with the audio of the characters speaking because sometimes when they talk to you they earrape you.

I have an absolute love/hate relationship with this game. I originally played this game on the Xbox 360 and then got the PC port physical retail release shortly after. The game has always been plagued by Ubisoft's incompetence in regards to bugs that were never addressed as well as god awful game mechanics. Such mechanics include:

- incompetent AI
- poor AI navigation
- collision with AI temmates which leads to AI teammates blocking the way (especially in narrow corridors and doorways)
- intentional delay with different UI controls (such as switching weapons or firemodes)

It is an absolute shame because I enjoy the story of this game as well as the levels and environments. Despite all the negative experiences I've had with this game back in the day, I still had fun with it, but nowadays returning to this game is even harder because all of those issues and bugs are now multiplied by 200 when comparing this game to modern day FPS/TPS games.

Coming back to this game after all these years is like coming back to a really bad hangover. The only way to save this game is to completely redo it and redo all of its mechanics.

Las Vegas is such a cool setting for an FPS, so I can recommend it on that alone, but the best part about this game has to be the Co-Op A.I buddy's, commanding them, etc. One shot up close can kill you instantly. It's tough for an FPS campaign. Annoyingly, you cannot run in this game, which is ridiculous and does hamper the experience but on sale, I can definitely recommend it, BUT, if you can only chose between 1 and 2, go buy Vegas 2 instead. Because at least you can run.

Short, sweet, and definitely Rainbow. Commanding your units is pretty smooth, gunplay feels good, lots of weapon and attachment options, and while the overall story isn't as complicated a Splinter Cell game it was still pretty driving.

The first level is an absolute slog, I will not sugarcoat it, it really sucks. They take away your squad and leave you with nothing but a pistol, stick you in extremely tight quarters, and all the enemies have for you to pick up are shotguns. Especially terrible on realistic difficulty, made even worse by the hidden inaccuracy penalty while scoped and basically funneling you into loud engagements. I almost dropped the game (or at least the difficulty) over this. But once you get past this they give you a fresh squad and all is right in the world. Really don't understand these squad based games that think its fun to take away the core mechanic of the game. I digress, game picks up a lot once you're actually in Vegas and you understand how to properly use your squadmates.

Small complaints include some soft-lock oversights, especially regarding AI pathing (they get stuck sometimes and can't get out). AI generally being either John Wick or a Stormtrooper (friendly and otherwise). Lack of replayability unless you have a friend, this is kind of a one-and-one, go play Vegas 2 it's better anyways. Some specific interactions are kind of clunky, like you can't order your squadmate if one is down. If you die you can't be revived (why is every one of these one step behind Republic Commando, seriously). There's some serious issues with save points, sometimes saves occur right before a weapon crate, sometimes after, causing you to have to redo any kit switches or re-armaments every time you die. I chose to never change my weapons out as a result of this. Also your AI teammates cannot be re-kitted. The NV and HV seem to be very room dependent, as in whether the shaders are mild determines whether they function beyond a 5 meter radius. Some places they work splendidly and others they don't. I played through on Realistic and while I (the player) could generally guarantee whether or not taking a fight would kill me, my AI teammates seemed to be a bit of a crapshoot in that area. Sometimes they would breach a door and things would go fine, and sometimes breaching the same door would result in something totally different. Sometimes the combat puzzles even felt relatively unsolvable due to this, like I was just waiting for the right roll of circumstances to clear a room. Also save points seem to be very inconveniently spaced, requiring redos of certain very-long sections, which adds tension, but not in a good way. I did find that there were some things that were not explained or not used frequently to good effect.

The RoE and how your team responds to putting on silencers effectively creates four modes of engagement, which I'll briefly summarize. LoudLoud (no silencers, Assault) means highest damage, but most enemies in an area are immediately alerted of engagement. LoudQuiet (no silencers, Infiltrate) is same as last, but teammates won't shoot first, least used mode. QuietLoud (silencers, Assault) teammates will KoS, but because video game silencers, they won't really be heard by most enemies, very effective for spread out groups in the same encounter. QuietQuiet (silencers, Infiltrate) means teammates will not engage unless discovered, and will not be heard, lesser used mode since quiet wetwork will usually have your AI squadmates getting spotted and blowing your cover. Better to leave them somewhere and take out the singles yourself, then pull them in to breach later. Also I didn't know I could vault over half cover until the last two levels, the game never told me about it. But it's so infrequently available since most cover pieces are debris or too wide that it doesn't matter. Just weird that they even bothered to include it, the squad AI usually avoids doing it too since it means sacrificing aim, even if it means taking a longer route.

Anyways, can absolutely recommend if you're a fan of the genre and it's on sale, provided you also pick up Vegas 2. Story ends a bit abruptly and evidently isn't complete without the sequel.
